Just wanted to see if this has happened to anyone else. It was either after root, or after installing Xposed, or after installing SuperSU and disabling KNOX, but occasionally my device just resets. It at completely at random times too, but usually it does a quick freeze before it happens. For example in the most recent occasion I closed a tab in google chrome, then it lagged for a second, then just reset. The time before that I just swiped my homescreen to the left and it did the same thing.
Actually mine was doing this before I rooted. Had to be an app we have on our phone or something.

Strange.. I wonder what I installed.
It happened again today, but this time I was driving in my car and it was sitting next to me with the screen off, then suddenly I notice it's at teh AT&T Logo rebooting.
This also started happening to me after rooting and installing a few mods e.g. Xposed, Viper4Android, etc...it hasn't happened since I tried switching to ART (it didn't want to switch, but all sorts of small things were fixed)
OK I'll try to make this short and to the point. I had returned my previous N6 because of spilt screen freezing issues. This replacement I have came with build 47M on it. I booted it up and immediately got a couple popups of Google play store and Google service force closes. Not worried about it cause I was going to use NRT to unlock, root, and flash a rom. That was a mistake cause then it was a continuous flow of random force closes of anything I tried using (messenger, chrome, Google services, and etc). Redownloading and reflashing to no avail so want a rom issue like I thought. Used NRT to flash stock, unroot, and relock back to 47M and OTA up to 28E. Still getting force closes of Google services and play store and even constant closes of the play store without the force close gump (it just disappears). So my question is wtf is going on? The N6 I had screen issues with didn't have any force close issues. I'm at a loss and beginning to think that my replacement needs a replacement. Anyone know how to help? I would love to root again or even enjoy this beautiful phone without crazy force closes..... Thanks in advance guys/gals!
Edit: Now just seconds after posting this I went to download some previous installed apps from the play store then I got riddled with a constant gapps force close and the phone rebooted itself. Now I am waiting for andriod to start apps like it would if you upgraded the OS.......

Return it as defective.
Just bought my first Nexus phone yesterday used of Amazon. Worked fine for the first hour then was prompted to update to 5.0.1. After the update the phone display will turn off randomly for a second every 5-10seconds (display turns off (not dims not locks). Dose not happen in bootloader and still happens even after flash installing 6.0.1 and Android N. The issue only happens for the first 20-30min after boot. It almost seems like an application that only runs the first 30min after boot is crashing the phones gpu. Anyone had this issue or have any insight?
Play store: Advanced Task Manager.
With this app you can kill apps.
You can select which apps.
Maybe you can find the cause

Tried this and it didn't stop it. Even tried booting in safe mode. The issue happens even before Android loads up (during the splash animation).

I agree with the previous poster (Mike... ).
If you can't find a software cause, it may possible a hardware issue.
Some hardware problems are temperature related. Shutdown and cool down the phone.
A few minutes in the freezer. Than restart the phone.
Hi, I have a problem with my phone showing a new voicemail notification every time it reboots, even though I don't have voicemail. So can I disable the phone app's notifications?
I have root.
Cheers
I had this same problem and I ended up redoing my rom and it fixed it and didn't happen again. Try using titanium and clearing cache on all apps and system apps and restarting. Good luck

Thanks.
I am currently just using the stock rom, and deleting the phone app's data gets rid of the problem temporarily, but it comes back every time I reboot.
I guess I'll have to live with it for now.
So, I am suddenly getting these AdChoice ads popping up on my Galaxy Note 8 (VZW).
They pop up all the time, out of nowhere, no matter what I'm doing on my device.
I haven't really installed anything new lately.
I've updated the firmware with the latest security update (OTA). And, I do recall my phone freezing up while taking a video (stock camera) around the time this may have begun to occur.
How can I get these annoying ads to stop?!?!?!
Must be from an app you have installed.

skip the guesswork and do a master reset FDR AND SETUP AS NEW DEVICE with no backups restored until the ads disappear , because if you restore all it will repeat ads. https://thedroidguy.com/2018/05/galaxy-note-8-keeps-showing-ad-pop-ups-mobile-data-turns-off-calls-issues-1076787
LOOK in link.
and look at this video FIRST. theres no instant solution, but i provided a start. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoD9lHNw0nQ
The security update didnt cause it, and you cant uninstall that.

This.
OP, skip the factory reset suggestion and narrow down the problem to one of your apps. Think games, etc. Factory reset is last resort, and truly overkill for a single app. Besides, if you dont narrow it down now you will likely end up in the same position anyways down the line . Better to resolve it now. Cheers.
