Google Fi on RP2 anyone? Any Rom? - Razer Phone 2 Questions & Answers

Has anyone tried Google Fi working on the RP2? I have read some and it seems it works, but only on T-mobile and no WiFi calling. Granted the posts were out of date a few years, some being Android 8 LoL. I live "out in the sticks" and only Verizon gets a signal to my place. That is why I'm curious about WiFi calling. With coming Lineage 19 out, wonder if anyone is using Fi with it?
Thanks Y'all

Unlocked S10--any features lost on Google Fi

I have tried to read through the threads already in place about the unlocked vs carrier versions of the S10 but haven't found the answer to my question. If I've missed it, I apologize.
I'm currently on Google Fi and I pre-ordered the unlocked S10 from Samsung. I'm trying to confirm if I'm going to lose any features on this unlocked version vs if I had gone with a carrier version. I was planning on swapping it with my Pixel 2XL on my Google Fi service but I'm wondering if I'll lose any features over getting a carrier loaded version. I'm thinking of things like wifi calling or other things. My current Pixel 2 is also using an e-sim so will that be an issue?
I had gone as far as wondering if loading a T-mobile sim on when it first boots would be necessary (for the feature enabling) and then moving it over to my Fi account. I'm also not really a firmware flashing expert so maybe I'm overthinking this. I'd love your input.
Unlocked S10 will work fine on Google Fi.
However, given that the phone is "Compatible with Fi" and not "Designed for Fi", you won't have access to the network switching feature, limited Wifi Calling, no Fi VPN security, and RCS only through Android Messages.
What do you mean by limited wifi calling? It is the feature I am most interested in.

Anyone got LOS 16.0 + Three UK + native WiFi calling working?

Hi all,
I'm currently running LineageOS 16.0 on my OnePlus 3T on the Three UK network and was wondering if anyone out there has managed to get native WiFi calling working in a setup like this?
I get zero mobile reception at my work so for over a year now have been using the Three inTouch WiFi calling app which has been pretty good, however last week I received a message saying that due to upcoming network upgrades Three will be retiring the app in a month or two so I now would like to be able to use Android's native WiFi calling if this is at all possible.
Three's website says that WiFi calling is only supported on Android on handsets purchased from them on contract, however I'm a SIM-only customer. I've got the latest OxygenOS modem firmware etc. installed as far as I'm aware, so was wondering if any of you clever people here on XDA have managed to find any unofficial ways of getting the native WiFi calling working for any old network?

Wifi calling is working out of the box for me. VoLTE too*. (LOS+3+SIM only+OP3/T) Been working with that setup since the beginning of LOS16.
*With 3 you'll only connect to VoLTE when 3G is unavailable as they prioritise in that order. For some reason they don't like people to use 'Super Voice', even though they advertise it as a feature. There's a big thread on the Digital Spy forum covering 3 and 4G in the UK that you might find useful.
Edit: Try the field test number. Enter *#*#4636#*#* in the Dialer. Is Wifi Calling 'Provisioned'. See my own screenshot:
On my stock op3t there is no WiFi calling toggle to switch on. That probably explains why I don't have it despite being able to switch it on under enhanced communications under sim settings.
Is there a way to activate it? The volte calling I got by doing a code thing.

Yes the "Wi-Fi Calling provisioned" toggle is on.
I've just upgraded to the latest LOS 16.0 nightly (2019-05-02) but still no sign of the native Wi-Fi calling working.
You said you've had it working since the start of LOS 16.0. I upgraded to 16.0 over-the-top directly from 15.1, do you think that could have anything to do with it?
Are there any settings in the SIM itself which could be needed to enable Wi-Fi calling? I think my SIM is a good 3 years old or so, would swapping it for a newer one be any use do you think?

What exactly are you doing to test that it's working or not? Have you made a call with Wifi on/Mobile signal absent?
Is there anything particularly unusual or unique about the Wifi network you've been trying this with? Have you tried other Wifi networks?

I've finally managed to get lineage 16 installed on my phone but I still can't get WiFi calling with my three sim card. The settings seems to be the same as yours. Not do I have the icons for WiFi calling or wokte at the top of the screen which I had with oos 9.0.6.

Thanks for the update. I better get a new phone soon despite mine works fine outside my home (were I am now locked away for the foreseeable future).
Saw something about a volte wowifi module on one of the android ten ROMs but not sure if it just enabled volte. Thing it was the havoc ROM

OcUK. User name looks familiar.
We're having this conversation in multiple threads.
VoWifi does NOT work, despite any previous assertions to the contrary. As i mentioned, it was flawed testing methodology.
VoLTE does work, but with Three network restrictions. i.e only when there is no normal 4G (1800Mhz) or 3G available. VoLTE is only carried on the 800Mhz band, which is prioritised lowest.
There are two very long Three 4G threads on the Digital Spy forums. Worth reading if you want the long version of what i have stated above.
Edit: Just a suggestion. Try this app so that you can monitor what Bands you are connecting to at any given time:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wilysis.cellinfolite&hl=en
What you need for VoLTE to work is Band 20. (800Mhz)

To save time can you post a screenshot with the App displaying that information?
'Connected to Band 20' is what we're looking for, rather than 'is available'.

I'm guessing this is the screen you want.
I also installed VOenabler v1.7 which seems to have restored volte. I haven't seen the volte icon but I'm still at home.
Edit: I installed the module before installing the bandwidth app.

It looks like you have Wifi turned on in those screenshots. If you turn it off you should be able to make a VoLTE call. At least it looks like you should.
So has 3G always been bad where you are? I assume you don't have 3G or normal 4G reception at all? (Bands 1 & 3)
I almost always connect to one of those two in my area, although where i am now it looks like some neighbouring towers do carry Band 20. I just need to destroy the other towers to connect to it!

It's abysmal. I'm in a Victorian basement. The only reason I went with three was the WiFi calling app.
Have left the house now for some air and now I band 1 so I'm guessing I'm connected to a different tower.

So what you're seeing is evidence of Three de-prioritising Band 20. As 800Mhz has better building penetration it's all you're getting while inside. When you step outside you begin to pick up the other Bands which you are immediately switched to, whether you lke it or not.
I only latch on to Band 20 once in a Blue Moon. The coverage of the other Bands is almost total so i don't stand a chance!
VoWifi is another matter altogether. If it could work with the 'intouch' app there must be something in the app that could be added to our ROMs natively. That's my logic anyway. (Also support is added to phones bought from Three using their official ROMs, so the same logic applies).

I thought newer phones had WiFi calling by default and didn't need to rely on the carrier.
That's a very good shout but way beyond my skills. Maybe it can be suggested?

This is the official word from Three:
http://www.three.co.uk/Discover/Three_inTouch
They say 'update' which suggests that people who bought phones on contract might have received an OTA which enabled VoWifi. How much would we love to get a copy of that OTA zip!

Stock rom or similar with VOLTE and WIFI calling enabled?

Hi guys,
Seems like a common problem with Xperia phones in that carrier settings on the stock rom the phone ships with doesn't have VOLTE or WIFI Calling enabled so even if your carrier has provisioned it, you can't enable it via *#*#4636#*#*
Does anyone have a fix or something that can be flashed onto the phone to help?

So this is what it is. I imported my Xperia 1 ii from Clove UK and was using it with Verizon didn't get VOLTE and WIFI calling.
I switched to tmobile didn't get VOLTE and WIFI calling, after some research and googling found out that Google Project Fi will give both WIFI calling and VOLTE.
3 days before I ordered my project Fi sim from Google it arrived last night I inserted it into my phone and Voila I get WIFI calling there is a toggle for that and also I am getting VOLTE.
I WAS paying 85 dollars on T-Mobile magenta plus plan on 1 line now I will be paying 80 dollars with Google Fi for 1 line. I am gonna put out a YouTube video tonight for Xperia 1 ii with Google fi.
Umm not everyone wants to switch to Google Fi someone else suggested this but nobody wants to switch lol

I don't know why people don't want to switch, I am talking about single line with taxes included it's 78 dollars for unlimited. Look at Verizon, T-Mobile and att what they are charging for one line. Then only on Fi you get wifi calling and volte with Xperia 1 ii. Those were enough reason for me to switch.
I'm glad it works for you, however, I pay $80 for 3 lines and true unlimited data on Tmobile. Google-Fi makes no sense for me and there are no reports of someone flashing the US firmware to see if it works yet. Some of us are waiting for someone to test it out.

It's just my point of view, even thou Google Fi works on T-Mobile network but there service is just out of this world where ever I have gone with it. No network congestion, Google made Android and they know how to optimize the cellular network.

It'll work. I'd flash the US firmware, but it's still on an old version. I'll flash when I get back stateside at the end of July. VoLTE works on t-mobile as long as you're on US Firmware. Has worked for my XZ3 and 1.
I don't want to switch to Google fi as well.
I attempted to use flash tool to get a customised firmware but was unable to get this working. Have any of you tried the method outlined by Brocnical?
Project Fi is a no go for me as I'm located in Australia.
Keen to get this figured out.

Wifi-calling on Fi?

Brand new pixel 5 on Google Fi and I cannot get wifi-calling to work at all. Old phone is a pixel 2 and it would use wifi-calling on every call, and it worked great. I have an absolutely trash cell signal, but a full wifi signal with gigabit internet....
Tried:
* wiping data/cache on google fi and carrier services
* erasing esim and re-activating
* contacted fi support who added me to "wifi calling opt-in program"
Nothing works. Anyone have this working?
EDIT/TL;DR: After about 2 days my wifi-calling suddenly began working. Apparently this may be the norm.

There is definitely and issue with Google Fi and the pix 5. Mine won't use Sprint networks and will only sometimes call on wifi at least I think it is using wifi.
There would be a big wifi symbol right above the phone number if you were using wifi-calling.
EDIT: And you're correct, my pixel 5 also will not join Sprint, it stays on T-mobile. Even using the Sprint Dialer code (*#*#34777#*#*), it gives an error:
Google Fi:
Invalid MCC/MNC: Sprint (310120)
Same exact issue. I have a tread on here that I opened today about it. I've been on with Fi support multiple times. They are working on it at least so they say.

Good to know. There's another thread about it here:

On Consumer Cellular, wifi calling worked on my Samsung phones fine, even my wife's 3 year old Samsung. I don't even have that option with the Pixel. It's definitely a phone thing for some.
I'm on Fi with my new P5 and wifi calling works well. I'm in a strong TMO area and get only 5G for cell. I think why you don't see Sprint anymore is because their frequencies and bandwidth are all wrapped up in TMO now. Even my Network cell phone app which always showed both TMO and Spring along with my wifi no longer shows the Sprint network hiding in the background. Fi would do this so it could quickly switch to the stronger signal.

You might be right, but there is strong Sprint coverage at my house and nearly no TMO. Shouldn't it switch to Sprint in that case? Also, if I mount the Fi sim in my Pix 4XL, I do get the Sprint service. It seems from what Fi support is telling me that they are going back to the carrier for answers but I think it is a phone issue. My address shows to be in an "excellent" Google Fi coverage area. I hope they can get it to work, since I love the call forwarding feature.

I'm not sure to be honest. From what I've read about the new TMO 5G, it is not standalone 5G meaning it use some sort of combo between the 2 companies frequencies to create a sort of hybrid 5G. I've read they use the TMO frequencies as the backbone and the Sprint frequencies since they are much higher can carry much more data do all the work. So basically the two companies have combined their networks in certain areas, I live near Chicago and coverage and speed is great. YMMV.
Maybe in other areas where they don't have 5G yet you may still have Sprint 4G access I just know I do not on the Pixel 5. On other Pixels from the 4 on down you may not have this issue because they are not 5G. If you Google "Tmobile 5G technology" it's a good read.
My wifi-calling started working suddenly, about 2 days after activation. I do wonder about the lack of sprint usage though.

Question Pixel 7 in Poland

Hi.
Does anyone have volte/vowifi/5g working in Poland? Preferably with Plus carrier?
Mobile Vikings (Play) VoLTE is working. VoWiFi doesn't. I have no 5G plan.
Only use the Pixel on Play as that is the only network in poland that has a profile for the network included in the firmware.
VoLTE works fine in Play and T-Mobile (no wifi calling though).
Thanks. Yeah. I heard it works in Play and T Mobile. I was wondering what about Plus though, since I'm not planning to change carriers.
From what I've heard it doesn't work in Plus at the moment. Don't get your hopes up, they probably won't activate it anytime soon.
My current phone is not supported either but both WiFi calling and volte work fine. I'm still yet to find anybody with Pixel in Plus, just to be sure.
