I have a tilt and for some reason the last couple of days it will just turn its self off. It has done it twice while I was in the middle of a call. Any know what could be causing this. ATT stock ROM... Second one already exchanged one with same problem, No Software installed....
Me too! I have the same issue. I tried to reset Tilt (from Setting options) and it did not solve the problem. I am seeking ways to solve this issue before I have to call ATT.
Please Help!!!
this started happening to me about 1 month ago, it's progressively gotten worse (phone turns off after 2min call even with full battery). At first I thought maybe the phone was overheating because immediately turning the phone back on after it shut-off during a call the phone would get half way through booting and then turn off again.
Luckily my phone is under warranty for another couple weeks (cutting it pretty close!) I called att and they think it's a battery problem. they sent me a new one... I just got it today. Going to do some heavy use and see if I can get it to turn off.
keep ya posted.
charged the new battery completely and then ran it all the way down testing it with phone calls / internet surfing / downloads... no crash or power off. looks like the battery was the problem.
Hi Guys,
Could someone tell me why my 2 weeks old Galaxy S (Service Provider: Bell) turns it self off out of the blue?
It happend twice already, the phone was on my pocket, I pushed the on/off side botton and nothing happens, the screen is pitch black!!
This is an irritating issue as I'm forced to physically take out the phone from the case and remove the battery and put it back on to turn on the phone.
Does anybody whats causing this issue? and how to fix it ?
Your help is much appreciated!
Cheers
Also, I was wondering if I do a factory reset to try solving the random shutting down problem, will I have to re-purchase all the apps I bought from the Market?
Send for warranty is needed I think

No, the info that you purchased the apps is stored in your Google account. So if you use the same Google account as you're using now as your primary account after reset, you can download all those apps for free. (Primary account is the Google account you first associated with the device.)
i had the same problem with 3 different bell vibrants. About 6 days ago, i bought a new sim card from bell for $5, and it has not happened since. I bought my phone from Bestbuy, but bought my new sim card from Bell store because perhaps the bestbuy sim cards are outdated. Hopefully it stays ok.
One thing i did notice was that when my phone would turn off by itself, it was always in an area where there was bad reception. Maybe a link.
I found that it happened when I installed a different launcher other than Touchwiz. I was using LauncherPro, uninstalled it and everything worked fine. I installed ADW and everything is fine so far.
I saw this thread yesterday and was thankful mine hadn't developed this issue. And then last night after about two hours idle time, my SGS switched itself off and the power button wouldn't respond at all. The only way to revive my beloved phone was to do a hard reset (i.e. removing the battery).
For what it's worth, the only "mods" I've made are installing a handful of apps. No new launcher, no custom ROMs etc.
I'm tempted to give Voda a ring and ask for a new SIM. But this really smells more like a hardware fault to me. A faulty SIM shouldn't result in a handset switching itself off, I'd think...
i'v encountered smailar problem , first i thought my phone turned itself off, later i suspected some apps i'v installed ( setCPU, autokiller etc), after while and digging, i found that i'v installed "Android Tweak" , it has an option to disable screen dim, and i'v used that option, so i changed it back and the problem is gone.
in Spain we have the same problem and no solution by now

Same thing happened to me last night. Maybe a bug with the date?

Mine just died again ten minutes ago. I guess it's a possibility, but considering the number of bugs that we're all discovering with the hardware and software, I'm suspecting it's yet another dodgy batch of phones from Samsung.
I just bought two Galaxy S and I am having same problems with both. I called Belll and they said they never had this kind of problem before. I had installed few apps and thought may be those apps were causing the problem, but even after deleting the apps..phones are powering off itself...
Did any one find the solution yet??
Same problem here, and from what i am hearing is becoming frecuent among galaxy owners. Im amazed something this important hasnt made the news , i mean, its a huge malfunction issue .
I had the same issue.
I called up Samsung support and they asked me to do a phone reset. I didn't try that, but I upgraded the firmware and it's gone now. I suspect resetting the phone will also solve the issue.
This happened to me for the first time today as I woke up and it wasn't dark outside. When I looked to see what time it was my phone (that I use as an alarm) was off!!
This is the first blemish on an otherwise outstanding experience. But it is a major one. I will assume that it is somehow related to something I've installed. But I'm not looking forward to figuring it out, since I've got a lot of apps

Good luck. I did a factory restore the other day to see if that would help. It didn't. Like you I use my SGS as an alarm... I woke up two hours late this morning because my phone had switched itself off in the middle of the night.
I'm currently waiting for a replacement handset. I'm not holding my breath that the new hardware won't have exactly the same bug though...
Mine started doing this yesterday...same with a bunch of coworkers that have the same phone. We think it may be related to bad reception.
Sigh
My phone just started doing this in the last couple of days.
I've also noticed sometimes it gets into a state of continuously saying "usb debugging connected" and then "usb connected" and just continuously keeps displaying those even though it has no usb cable anywhere near it..
Havent flashed the phone for about a week now and it was fine for 3-4 days after the flash so no idea what is going on..
Anyone else seen those usb messages? They come and go.. but it seems when they come its usually when my phone turns off..

I've not seen anything like that myself but then I have stuck with stock firmware.

Thats funny...because the only time it has happened to me is at work, where the phone is struggling for reception. It has turned off a total of about 8 times over 1 month. It has never turned off anywhere else (except one other time i was getting bad reception in the forest, and a few minutes later it was off)...strange
Hi,
Got a SGS Plus last week from prepaymania - for an older family member as an introduction to 'modern phones' (coming from a nokia 6310i )
Anyway - the phone has decided to start turning itself off all the time recently for no reason at all. There are hardly any apps on the phone at all...the ones it came with and the usual 10 others. Using WiFi at home with the GPS off and the phone in 2G mode.
Apparently it has 'made the shut down noise' and turned itself off randomly, many times in the past 2 days and it becomes completely unresponsive afterwards (power button, front button - nothing works) & battery needs to be pulled.
Before I tell him to send it back, does anyone have any idea what the culprit could be?
Cheers.
same problem
i am also having the same problem..it turn off automatically..
i brought the same phone(sgsp) before 1 week only..
anybody please help.
I received no input on the issue from any forums, so I couldn't find a cause other than to assume that it's a big software bug that never got ironed out.
I just sent it back and got a SGS2 instead. No problems with that!
If you have the option to send it back, I'd say do so. Good luck.
I had given my phone to samsung service center.they told that's a software problem.and they reinstalled the OS...now its working fine for me.
got refund
My samsung galaxy s plus restarts very often.
finally got my full money back as refund from samsung..it has taken a long time but very happy now..
going to buy galaxy s2
Restart your phone in recovery mode and try factory reset and wipe everything maybe it wont turn off anymore but i dont know never had this problem. But you could give it a try..

This started over the weekend, where the phone just crashed and died on me during the day. I had to plug it in and eventually I was able to get it to boot into the bootloader. When I caught it crashing, I was playing audio through bluetooth in the car, and it just shut off, bluetooth connection to the car was lost.
This happened twice on Saturday, but was fine on Sunday.
On Monday, I woke up to find the phone was completely dead. It had been on the wireless stand overnight as usual. Plugged it in to charge, tried holding volume down and power, as well as power, nothing. Left it alone for a while. Eventually I was able to plug it in again and saw the screen light up with 100% battery indicator. It then turned on right away.
This morning, Tuesday, the phone is dead again. It worked fine all day yesterday, not issues.
This is feeling a lot like a hardware problem, but I'm wondering if anyone is having similar issues when running the beta.
So revert back to Android 10 and see if the issue resolves itself. Quickest way to find out whether this is a software or hardware problem.

It never turned on yesterday (still not turning on today), so definitely a hardware problem. I called UbreakIFix and they said they have been having this issue with Pixel 4s lately and that they need to replace the battery, but because it has been happening so often, they don't have them in stock. Waiting for more to arrive.
I had this problem a couple of months ago. Had Ubreakifx repair it. They told me that the battery had basically fired my main board and they both needed to be replaced. Although, in my case that started a whole debacle where I ended up having to receive a new replacement phone that I literally just got today.

Yikes!
I actually ended up calling a second UbreakIFix location. The guy told me that he was the one that repaired these and that it was very likely it could be more than just the battery and that they were a PITA to repair. He said he could try but that if I had a backup phone and could send in to Google, it would be best. So that's what I did. I just got a notification that Google's repair center in TX received it and will take 2 - 3 business days to inspect.
My Pixel 4XL went into a bootloop 2 months ago. I was finally able to start the phone in the bootloader, did a full factory reset. Everything appeared to be ok again, but what a pain. Not rooted. Have been running the beta 11 versions with no problems. Suddenly 2 days ago the phone had no ability to receive text messages. Spoke with T mobile support, nothing worked. I finally popped the sim card into my 6T backup phone and poof, texting is working fine on that phone. Since I had a documented issue with the phone and had already performed all the tech resets, they are sending me a replacement 4XL now.

That sucks. Mine was deemed too expensive to repair so they shipped me a refurb.

Received my replacement phone yesterday. Set it up, opted back into the beta 11 and poof! Not receiving text messages again! I'm on Tmobile. Don't know what the issue is, but as soon as I left the beta and reinstalled Android 10, everything is working fine.
Strange, I don't see any reports online of the Beta breaking text message receiving.

Hmm, that is odd. I was using my 4 XL on T-Mobile with Beta 11 2 and had no SMS issues. I was using the eSIM.

I have a physical sim card in my phone. I wonder if the use of the eSim might make the android beta usable for me? Not receiving text messages is a big problem.

Have you tried using DIGITS to get access to your texts? It's free. This is how I'm using my Old Pixel right now. I didn't want to get a new SIM to get my number, so I'm using an extra line and DIGITS to get my calls and messages. A lot of 2FA SMS don't work properly, but everything else does.

No I haven't. I'm a stock phone person. Don't want to start running new apps for something that should work out of the box.
I'll just stay with Android 10 until 11 becomes official.
My family has 4 A70s. They all worked fine until about a month ago when my wife's phone started having sporatic issues with wifi. Then last week my sons phone decided to go into a bootloop and after factory reset decided it didn't even want to turn on anymore. Samsung directed me to a local shop (UbreakiFix) which is where it currently remains with unknown solution. My phone three days ago started having random network connection issues that affected text, calls, and internet but not always at the same time and regardless of a wifi connection). Went to the Xfinity store Tuesday afer work and they looked at it and gave me a new sim hoping that would work. It only lasted 5 minutes out the door. Popping out the sim try and then re-inserting would reset it for a little bit but it would always go back to no connection even though I have full signal. Also, a software network reset would do the same thing but it eventually goes back to a virtual brick. I have done two factory resets with but neither helped the issue. I went to the Xfinity store again tonight, as I walked in to the empty store the rep asked me what he could help me with... I held up my phone and he said "Let me guess... Samsung A70?" He proceeded to tell me that I was the 9th A70 owner to come in today with the same exact issue. He had already talked to the regional manager and Samsung is aware of the issue... but he can't give me a new phone right now and what I was doing with the network reset is the only "fix" or partial solution they can offer at this time. He advised that Samsung has indicated they will being doing a recall for all the A70s and replacing them with the A71. He was not sure on a timeframe but was hoping notification would go out before the weekend. Until that time I'm stuck with a jacked up phone that is two weeks old, I actually lost my original in Yellowstone two weeks ago, but can only make calls after a network reset and then it typically hangs up about 3 minute into a call at which time I have to go through the whole network reset, rebot, and then try again. I really hope that Samsung does the right thing here and if the A71 is not the same size as the A70 I'm going to be extra pissed off since I would then have to get new cases and screen protectors. So frustrating!

Wow if that happens u will be lucky since u will be getting a phone with much new processor and camera module and also much improved panel..
Will be interesting to see if this turns out to be true. I wonder what the issue is, that it's so bad they can't fix it with software and need to do a hardware recall? Mine has been completely stable and reliable.
The last big hardware recall I remember was the Note 7 for obvious reasons. Hardware recalls are not common.
