TWRP
I can't seem to get TWRP to install on my pixel 5 I boot it then use the installer and it just loops to fastboot mode and I'm in an awwl of why,I've done this many times on my pixel 1 and 2.,also I have bugs with it in the Lineage 19.1 official builds and I can never get TWRP to get pass the splash screen with lineage as lineage has it's own recovery.
idk ive been having real issues with twrp since i put droid 13 on my pixel 5 keep in mind ive thrown almost every custom rom on here once with twrp as my recovery bro idk think it may have to do it droid 13
TWRP isn't offically out for Android 12 or Android 13 for Pixel 5.
However Android 12.1 support is coming soon with A13 WIP,
see here
Aside from custom ROMs, TWRP isn't really necessary on Pixel devices due to the ability to flash partitions directly.
It's also worth noting that the recovery kernel lives in the boot image, which also contains the system kernel, so any time /boot is flashed, TWRP would be wiped out.

Recently tried to install the new magisk update the two ways possible, by patching the boot.img and by installing the .zip file, both which have ended in failure, I am on Google Pixel (Google store version) Android O, running ElementalX kernel, when trying to install the .zip file I get an error about not being able to mount the system (twrp) I tired to manually mount the system and flash the .zip and still nothing. I used to clean boot.imgs and tried to patch them(this worked) but when I flashed them to the system slots and booted I still did not have Magisk.
Maybe??
Since I'm on a completely different device, I'm not sure, but what worked for me on 6p was when app(13) asked, do u want to update to 14?; I select yes, (recommended option) let it install then boot into recovery and flash my kernel again. I'm running flash kernel on superxe Oreo rom. That's what worked for me otherwise it wouldn't boot since I'm on f2fs file system. Hopefully this might help.
After successful installation i am stuck after boot screen animation, htc 10 Android 7 stock rom

Booting in recovery and reflashing custom kernel fixed this issue for me on Nexus 6p after successful installation of Magisk 14. Maybe this might help (hopefully).
The issue I have is that I am unable to install any custom rom in the phone, I am only able to correctly install xiaomi.eu roms and also miui global roms using fastboot method. Any custom rom I try, like Pixel Experience, but also many others, the phone will boot loop. Tried android 10 and android 9 roms, also tried to flash roms coming from an older global miui rom, just like one tutorial recomended to do, but still nothing. In TWRP there are no errors, rom seems to install correctly, but when I reboot the phone it will boot loop.
Another weird issue is that only some versions of TWRP will install on my phone, right now I am using Orangefox 10.0.3, version 10.0.4 just won't install, I flash it but nothing happens. TWRP versions from mauronofrio won't install for some unknown reason.
I'm at a loss really as to what is happening.

1. Try the latest OrangeFox beta - https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-8/development/official-orangefox-recovery-project-t4039531
2. If you have any issues with it, then report (with logs) in the OrangeFox thread.
Hello,
So after 7 years, I decided it was about time to get a new phone. I have an HTC M8, and will be slowly migrating to the Pixel 4a5g. I just bought one and it has been sitting in the box sealed for about a week. I havn't touched it yet. I've been reading the various guides for this phone, trying to do my homework before plunging in or asking questions. My goal in the end is to have a rooted 4a5g running lineage 18.1 with ability (Lineage or Proton or Elemental kernel--which ever works) of ACCA power via module.
The install guide for Lineage assumes you will use their recovery and not TWRP. And one of the steps has you temporally flash their recovery. According to previous posts the redfin test TWRP gives liimited functionality more so with a custom kernal (touch). And it seems one can get by without actually flshing a custom recovery and just booting it to the device via ADB.
So what I was wondering was if I could install Lineage without having to actually flash (temp, perm, or otherwise) a recovery, and actually do this via just booting twrp.img via ADB and thus doing the further required steps to install the rom and flashing the boot.img to root if desired. Just trying to get all my ducks im a row--I love turducken.
Hello, i currently have twrp 3.6.0 but in recovery mode it seems android12 fs isnt compatible and it just seems that there isnt any Android 12 compatible recovery but im still trying to find it.
Hi! I am entirely not sure what I am talking about, but yeah the pixel experience recovery supports Android 12, because the ROM I installed with the recovery runs the same. I am also not certain that it would let you install other ROMs or not.
The issue with this recovery is that you cant install any zips etc so its just like a default recovery where you Can just format userdata etc.
TWRP or ofox are only usable if you decrypted by flashed ROM or if you flash DFE.
I'm on orange fox with decrypted by DFE and cherishos and all working fine. To get a bit more security you can password protect orangefox
I'm looking for a way to mack a nandroid backup of this device so that I need not work so hard to restore it in the event I crash it while learning how to deal with customization. I'm running lineage OS 19 (08102022 build) and their associated recovery. I don't see the feature in their recovery. TWRP would be my go-to on older devices to make backups of my device that include all partitions and data. TWRP is not working fully on the Pixel 5 here as it seems it doesn't fully support Android 12 yet or some other problem. Tried temporarily booting TWRP and it just hangs on the splash screen (maybe due to the Lineage recovery being installed already?).
I'd like to get into some more "serious" mods and want an easier way out of a mess than starting completely over.
Thank you all.
Would also like a nandroid backup setup for LOS 19. Did you find a solution @ctradio?
@panomitrius nothing yet!
