Hi,
Is there a way to install Snaptube (or an alternative) on Pixel 7?
get the apk from uptodown and install simple
It seems like Snaptube APK is 32bit, so there is no chance of installing it on Pixel 7 / Pro. Pixel 7 series only support 64bit apps. This was announced months ago by Google afaik. I got the same problem with Instander rn, and gotta wait until the dev provides a 64bit APK.

Getting the app is not the problem. Installing it is.
Pixel 7 doesn't allow the install.
Something with the 62bit vs 32bit compatibility from what @t-ryder posted
Pixel 7's cpu have a 64bit supporting only so 32bit apps are not compatible. You have to find arm64 only apks and seems that snaptube have not that version

Has nothing to do with the CPU, it's an intentional choice by Google to not include support in the OS.

I don't think it will be long. Novell's project Mono has been working on it. Read about it here.

For me the main reason to have silverlight support is to get Netflix working. Unfortunately, moonlight lacks all the DRM components that are required to use Netflix. This is the main reason why there is not Netflix on linux yet. It would be nice though since my university is using silverlight as the plugin to stream class recordings
I want silver light so I can stream my zune pass

I want it so i can make apps in vs that don't use the confusing android ui components and then the same web app can be available to desktop users.
On the Indiegogo page for the Ubuntu Edge, you can see a video of a proof of concept for the Ubuntu Desktop.
She used an app on a stock Nexus 4 (if I remember correctly, she says AOSP) and just launch it like that on Android and sent it to the screen.
Am I the only one who find this more amazing than running Ubuntu Touch on a Android phone ?
If you take a look at the size of the ARM Ubuntu version, you have a 500 MB file and I was wondering how Android can just load like that Ubuntu and run it along Android ?
Cheers.

As you point out, the video demonstrates a fully functional version of Ubuntu for Android. In the IRC channel, Ubuntu VP of engineering stated that U4A requires the Android OS to be modified slightly. I'm hopeful this process is unveiled soon and U4A becomes publicly available. It likely won't be very smooth on current commercially available hardware, and there's not really enough storage on an N4 to make it very practical, but it would still be nice to get a glimpse of computing convergence.
Thank you for your answer, is there any way to have access to this discussion ?
It seems pretty smooth on the video, which is surprising when you know the current hardware limitation on Android ...
For the storage, the cloud allows you to only download the file you need so it might not really be a problem.
I'm currently thinking about building a NAS to use it as a storage and download platform, it might be a custom solution for this problem.
Another option is my linuxonandroid project, see it as ubuntu for android but with just a one man team doing it in the spare time
Big plus side is we support a range of distros and are not limiting to Ubuntu
EDIT
Also note that the nexus 4 is a device I use and our up and coming LoA ROM will be on the Nexus 4 before you know it
The ROMs aim is to basicly do everything Ubuntu for Android can do and more!
Is this the app your talking about? I wanna try it but dont wanna install some bogus app lol

Do you think they are using VM to run their Ubuntu ?
It must require a lot of RAM no ?
Something nice in their video is the share of data between the two OS (mail, contact, music, etc). Is it possible to do that when you do a VM ?

Just like my project they do not use a VM, they use native Chroot, which allows Linux to run on the Android kernel from within Android.
SO you get normal access to hardware and kernel features and no performance hit.
Then for the sharing its a mixture of both OS's having access to the same storage so music and files are viewable from both.
For app data shared acrossed it simply requires so work to pass this across from one side to another, something that could be done pretty easy and I have started working on myself
Nice thank you gonna give it a try tonight.

So the app gives directions on how to VNC into the linux system, but I want to connect my nexus 4 to a bluetooth mouse and keyboard and a monitor using the SlimPort adapter as seen in the Ubuntu Edge U4A video. Do you have or know of any directions on how this can be accomplished with Complete Linux Installer?

Okay, cool. I am extremely interested in this and I am a developer as well, so if there is anything you need tested or anything I can help you work on, please let me know.
I have a rooted Nexus 4 with sock jelly bean on it. I have played with installing Ubuntu Phone on it a few months back, but went back to android as I felt extremely limited in Ubuntu Phone.
I have the SlimPort® SP1002 from Amazon coming today. As I said before I would love to run it without the lag of VNC. Convergence is my main goal and I am so excited about Edge, but I want the Ubuntu for Android app for my Nexus 4 that I saw Leann talk about being already ready toady. Any idea of where/when we can get it?

Will you implement native chroot at some point too?
So now that the Ubuntu Edge campaign has failed, if/when do you think they will release Ubuntu for Android? I am going to get the new Nexus (Nexus 5?) and hopefully they will have it released for that phone.
When I had my Nexus 4 I purchased the game Need for Speed, but when I go to download the game it says it isn't compatible with my current device. I find it odd, but the Xbox application does it as well. Is there a way to get these apps to work on the One?

Yup, for some reason EA decided to remove the game for the HTC One, as it was not compatible although it is for the S4... Hamdir's way works though

Is it not contrary that EA didn't add the HTC One until now? This has to do with the fact that a publisher can decide (in the playstore) which devices (or specific hardware) are supported. Therefore newer devices are always not supported by default because they can't be in this lists also when there are no issues. I have the same issue with FIFA12 but could install and run the APK from an older device.

NFS was available for awhile before it was removed for the HTC One, and there WERE issues. Besides, the S4 uses the same SoC..
I've got Need for Speed most wanted running on my One without any problems.
The app installs fine isn't nodded and downloads the full data itself then runs fine.

Only if you sideload the APK from an older version of the game. The latest APK does not support the HTC One, and when you try to start the game, it launches and then a black screen with car sounds

Hi all,
First time note user. i was wondering what are some good apps to install on the note 8. are there any apps specially designed for note 8 ?
Can you guys post the list of apps you use ?
Thanks for all the help!
I have hundreds of apps on my phone, many of which take advantage of the size, camera etc.
But specifically for the SPen function:
You have to install the old Action Memo.
Myscript Nebo - the Play store will tell you it doesn't work on our device, so you'll need to download it from apk mirror or similar. The handwriting to letter conversion is second to none.
Finally, Squid is a 3rd party notebook app that is great, really nice design.
Those are my less known pen apps.

Mind sharing the apk for my nebo and action notes since both of those are not in the playstore for us?
Sketchbook for Galaxy - you can get it from Galaxy Apps, s-note is the older version of samsung notes, but it has more functionality and I think we have a thread here how to get the best version, since it's not the newest one.
Most drawing/ sketching/painting programs will have much better functionality due to pointing precision of s-pen, but there are too many to list, but my kids love recolor from galaxy apps

He's right above, find the Action Memo topic for all the files and instructions!
Here's Nebo:

It asks for decryption key.
Microsoft remote desktop beta and onenote works very well with the s-Pen
Please try this for Nebo, not understanding why the share is working different on that side. I keep trying to pick links where you need no special hash/code

No, unfortunately. It's a paid version now, and blocked for download from Play Store because it's a tablet app? Frustrating.
I think it would be fantastic to run AND windows 11. It's been done to pixel android 13, due to better virtualization android 13 is having.
Looking forward to that.
It is definitely a game changer.
I really hope the developers get involved in this and make it work with the keyboard and USB port and camera as well.

It is completely doable.. But I'm not sure how many people bought the s8 ultra as it is very expensive. When only few bought it, less chances one do it..
If it would work well, it would probably be the best windows tablet as there isn't one with that big screen and small bezels.
You can already run Linux through Termux with smooth desktop experience using Xwayland.
However, Termux is a bit broken since Android 12.

who says about virtualization is as slow regardless of what os you try to virtualize, modern phones can even boot windows natively sa long as you have the necessary hard drive space, but there is a cheaper way and most powerful too azure vm and through rdp just remote in to the cloud
linux yes with ease can run within android but windows is another thingy dual boot yes can be done by modifying your bootloader to allow usb boot and dual boot
Well, android 13 can now use KVM to run Linux through virtualization. However, Samsung have to allow it on his firmware...
Google Pixel phones already can virtualize any OSes with a new app called NestBox.

Agree
Curently, the best you can do is using Termux with proot distro.
Unfortunately, Android 13 doesn't change anything since Samsung's kernels doesn't have KVM (and will probably never have).
We need to wait for custom kernel with KVM enabled.
