I want to open this POOL and please all members answer corectly.
HOW MANY if you will BUY any WinMo or Android Device if there was not comunity like XDA ?
Its True that HTC and Microsoft Without XDA.... are nothing.
Who is trying to make your devices run faster? The Members of XDA
Who is trying to make your device look much better? The Members of XDA
Who is trying always to have UPDATES even when Microsoft and HTC do not release any Software Updates for your Device? The Member of XDA
And this is just example...
I think that HTC and Microsoft need to know all this and minimum they need to buy for each XDA Developer one Bentley.. because if they was not HERE.. Nobody will spend thousend of $$$$ to have one Device without a Support.
And to recive some stupid apps from Windows Marcetplace with 90% of them are useless.
that is a hard question. but without xda there would still be ppcgeeks howardforums modaco and others. but i do spend most of my time here.
Yes, sure I would buy WM!
But most sure I´ll get rid of it if XDA does not exists
And probably I would ended on Android

Yes but you dont understand the question..
Is true that have other sites for WinMo Devices and etc But for example
in ppcgeeks do the peoples cook ROMs.. or in MODACO just google all the FIX all the UPDATE and tricks.. are made in XDA and they are post in diferent sitest.
So if was not here XDA what ROM`s and Updates will be posted in all other sitest?
Maybe will pop up one new cooked ROM per YEAR LOL

I will get rid for around a 30 days of using my Blackstone with the Stock ROM and even im not able to install a THEME with sure i will put it in the TRASH and will never buy a WinMo Device.
it's poll btw
I actually came to XDA because I got a Wallaby and later a Blue Angel, so XDA was not my defining factor for buying WM devices. Having said that, I would probably not have a serious case of ORD if it wasn't for XDA ...
thinks
I bought a blackstone 1st , then found this site, but probably my next phone will be a windows but only because of the support offered here. Thanks
I only found out about this site after i bought my XDA II in March 2009.
But i think the xda II would have gone back on eBay if this site wasnt here.
Windows mobile 2003 is annoying!
Yeah, so a BIG thanks to:
Xda-Developers,
Ather, (first man who helped me!)
frauhottelmann, (with my htc s710)
aeroflyluby, (amazing roms!)
Orb, (posting good threads, that have kept my interest)
Stylez, (PC Related stuff)
Kristaps-K9-Lv, (pc related stuff)
Erm....
And a LOT of other people!!
flyboy
I bought and loved Android before I knew about xda.
Well I bought my first device not realizing XDA existed, but I would definitely make sure XDA had forums 9or was getting them) for any potential new device in the future
I had an Ipaq pda for years before I found xda. But after I bought my second one (an Imate) I found xda. I realized i did not get full value from my Ipaq. I have had several WM phones since and love xda. And I do love my WM phones.
However, without xda I probably would have moved to an (ugh) Iphone years ago. So may thanks to xda for saving me.

It's unbelievable that [email protected] like this is showing up on XDA-Developers in an Android Development section nonetheless.
The search is there for a reason. So use it. As are the stickies. Cripes. Thread reported.
Why people always ignore the stickied thread.

It's unbelievable. If everybody did this it would be impossible to find the actual posts. They don't even read, they just jump for that shiny New Thread button. We should have a requirement that you must be logged in for at least 2hours before being allowed to start a thread
It's unbelievable or maybe I'm not the norm... I actually read the sticked even before I got my SGS making sure I understand the process of rooting.

Bottom line is people just cant talk to anyone any damn way they feel. This is not a site to make people popular. Hell I dont give a **** how many people use the kernel, rom, mod, or hack. Act like a fool and you deserve to be banned for good. The rules are here for a reason. Either follow them or leave, your chose.
Now I have had to hold my tounge on this for a while but no longer.
XDA is a developers site
XDA is a free forum you are ALLOWED to use. We could make it invite only
XDA is and always will be about the developers. And before you say without the users there would be no XDA, Bull****, who do you think used the stuff before normal people even knew what a smartphone was......wait for it.........other developers. People that could give good feedback with relavent info. Not just "dahhh this is broken, please fix". And even Maybe help fix what is broken.
XDA is not a place to come and make your phone cool.
XDA is not the cool place for idiots to hang out.
XDA is not your friends house
XDA is not a democracy
XDA is not a place to make Money.
XDA IS a place to come to learn and share your knowledge. If you are not here for those reasons then you are here for the wrong ones.
I have watched XDA become a place where every dumbass in the world has a smartphone and comes here thinking they have the right to anything. Well guess what? You dont have the right to ****. We share it because we want to and we dont if we dont feel like it. Are the Developers or the Mods required to make you happy? Nope not in the least. Wanna leave. Go ahead. I beg you, please do. The less people that are asking dumb question cause they dont know what they are doing (this is understood when your new, but at least look) or are too lazy to look for it the better.
Dont like what I have to say? I am sorry you must have mistaken me for someone that gives a ****.

If you think i was harsh, then i apologize, but seriously, those who posted above gave you good suggestions, such as the one which uses the back camera to video-call the other guy.But you were not satisfied with what you got. There are things that are in-our-hands and those which are not.A developer simply cannot make video calling work for a device with NO front camera at all,the best solution is to use the back-camera.

I recently start using the Mini because my X10 is in the repair shop and I must say that I find it disturbing how these devs seem more interested in how many "thanks" they get instead of providing quality work to share wit the community!
I've owned several android devices and I must say that this part of XDA seems like another website entirely.. devs over here wll even hold off on releasing roms unless they get certain amounts of thanks..
Can someone explain why the ridiculous fascination with the thanks button?

I don't see this happening, though some ask for it in their sigs..as long as it's polite it's fine else u can report it.
yeah I give thanks all the while but to create topics saying" I found a great fix for a problem, and if I get some thanks I might release it" Really? I saw that a couple days in the Android Dev section and was confused.. its like a currency for releasing roms or something..
I dont want to call out anyone and post links but I'm sure you guys have seen it.

I wanna ask something
in my lag-free script there are 2 version one is for thanked users and other anyone can download
only difference is in special script, one can put his own name as the folder, I did this by seeing app devs, script is the result of my 23days hard work
please tell if it is OK

asking to be thanked is just considered lame, no offence.
thanks meter is useless, it is being hugely abused.

Just got my Note 2. Heard rumour you could do more with the phone. Being Linux, I'm like bump anything but Android now. I'm researching to solve / debunk and I see XDA. I hop in..read a bit. I jump back like Harry and Lloyd when they found out and said NOOOOO.
It worked.
So Imma Nerd. I get handed all kinds of phones. I research...XDA. Worked again.
Ok. I'm Retired Sr. Technical Analyst. Seeing the website now and how XDA has grown made join.
My goal is to make a Magazine App with Media on Android Studio 2.2.3. I'm hoping someone in here can point me in the right direction.

Hi,
A good start to gaining your post count could include participating in help discussions in your device's Q&A thread. You don't necessarily have to provide solutions, as long as it gives some form of helpful information, you are good to go.
Once you've gained enough posts, you will be able to post links as long as it follows the XDA guidelines for trustworthy links.
I hope this helped
