S21 FE Exynos not working with 5Ghz WiFi - Samsung Galaxy S20 FE Questions & Answers

I'm unable to connect to 5Ghz WiFi with my S21 FE.
I've tried resetting a lot of settings but the phone does not recognize any 5Ghz wifi.
What can I do to make it work? Other devices see both 5Ghz routers but this phone is limited to just the slower one.

try setting your router to use channel 155
some have said this fixed 5ghz visibility.

Nokia 8, wifi 5Ghz problem

i have a nokia 8 for a month now . im facing this problem on my wifi that only 2.4Ghz signal is displayed in my wifi list, it seems that wifi is not working properly because there are times that 5Ghz signal are displayed in my wifi list. its like sometimes it works sometimes not and take note that in using the same router with 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. Also my other phone (Xperia XZ) is working will with both 5Ghz and 2Ghz.
Some routers simply do not work properly with particular phones. I saw such behaviour in the past. Check your Nokia with different router. b
sir i already try on different router, modem ang portable router but i get the same issue.
Try resetting the phone.
i tried it already. reset wifi and data, also factory reset but nothing happened. i already returned to the nokia store. thanks your response sir.
I had the same problem and I think I found the solution,
first of all I tried rebooting and resetting my Nokia 8 and I didn't fix it, updateing the phone did not fix it, returning the phone for a replacement I found that the new phone showed the 5ghz band then an error message appeared and no 5ghz wifi were shown anymore!
the problem is when you set up a new phone you will choose a country, this option will set not only the language but other settings as well among them the channels used by 5ghz wifi in your country! the router might be set to a different country using different channel!
solution: access your router settings and check your wifi 5ghz advanced settings choose a country matching your phone settings and restart your router.
if this didn't work try an android app called wifi analyzer and check channel settings for 5ghz after choosing your country it will show you which channel are open for 5ghz in your country, pick a channel and return to your router 5ghz wlan advanced settings and change the channel option from automatic to your the one from wifi analyzer and apply and restart your router!
hopefully this will work

Mi5 Pro WiFi 2.4GHz issues.

Hello forum members.
I want to share with You My Mi5 Pro WiFi problems, hoping someone can give advice so i can use my Mi5 Pro again.
The phone's WiFi has some issues:
It scan and display all networks, but can't connect to 2.4GHz networks.
It connects and work fine with some 5GHz networks. Also connect and work fine with 5GHz hotspot networks.
Bluetooth is working fine.
MiDrop can scan, but can't connect and transfer.
Hotspot is working only on 5GHz mode. On 2.4GHz can't share or connect to other.*
What I have tried to solve the issues:
Reset the phone.
Update the phone.
Flash other MIUI.
Unlock and flash other Android.
Rooted the phone and changed the WiFi MAC address (on MIUI).
Erased and flashed the modem (NON-HLOS.bin)(on MIUI).
No changes after all my attempts.*
And also, after all My attempts, I have noticed something. When I try to connect to 2.4GHz network (unsuccessful of course) and leave the WiFi on or off (the WiFi is not connected) , the phone's battery is draining very fast. If I connect to 5GHz network (successfully), and after that turn off the WiFi,**the battery is not draining fast.
If someone have any advice, or something I can check or share more info, I'm here and waiting.*
Thanks.
PS:Correction, 5GHz is not working with any router. More specifically, it's not working with most routers.
Maybe it's hardware problem. WIFI antenas disconnected?
Maybe, bit i hope it's software.
When i remove the antennas there is no wi-fi networks even detected, or only the closest ones are shown very weakly.

Not picking up 5Ghz wifi

My note 9 (exynos) is not picking up the 5Ghz wifi. Only sees 2.4Ghz. Wifi analyzer also picks up 2.4Ghz only.
Bad unit?
did you try to clean the cache? I had an issue with the download speed & lag, then i cleaned cache just before i was about to factory reset. I'm picking up 5Ghz without issue.
Cleaned cache. Still no 5GHz wifi.
Ok, so i did a bit of googling. I have a Netgear Nighthawk router which seems to have problems with many different android devices. One of the solutions posted suggested to manually set a channel and reboot the router. I set the 5 GHz channel to 153, rebooted and hey presto! the phone picked up the signal.
Posting the solution here so that it helps someone.
As in no 5ghz at all no matter whose 5ghz you scan for?
i didnt have another 5ghz network to check against. most networks are still 2.4ghz around here

P30 Pro Wi-Fi Hotspot problems

Hi everyone,
I have a problem with my new P30 Pro. When I create a Hotspot in 5ghz frequency, no other device can find that Hotspot. If I change frequency to 2.4ghz then other devices can connect to the network. Maybe others have the same problem? Or my device is faulty ?
BTW when I'm connecting to Wi-Fi, either 2.4 or 5ghz, everything works fine
Maybe it uses a channel, that your other devices do not see. I think different regions use different wifi channel ranges. Maybe you find an option for that somewhere in advanced wifi settings.
I just tried on mine. My laptop pics up the hotspot on the P30 Pro no matter if it's 5 or 2.4GHz, no problem.

I didn't find any advanced settings regarding channel ranges / regions.
BTW my phone is C431 if it's good or not, I don't know. I remember C432 used to be the best region code, if you could say so. My P20 pro is C432.
How the problem started, I bought P30 Pro, opened phone clone app, I wanted to transfer data wirelessly from one phone to another. But devices didn't connect, tried multiple times. After that I started experimenting with 2.4 ghz or 5ghz Hotspot. And found out that other devices can't find 5ghz frequency.

My laptop sees 5ghz Hotspot, but can't connect to it. P20 Pro, honor 8, nexus 6P can't even see that. Samsung S10 can connect to 5ghz. It's very strange
EMUI 9.1.0.153 resolved the issue
Nope, it didn't. I'm still having problems - my notebook can see the hotspot, and can connect to it, but the phone just won't share the internet connection.
Bluetooth is turned on, and bluetooth tethering as well, 2.4 or 5 GHz.
I tried USB tethering. Tried apps from the store. Always the same thing - notebook can see the hotspot, but internet is not working. Any ideas? The notebook is Asus Rog G751. I'm on 9.1.0.1.178.
Same here. Laptop works on home 5ghz, but wont even see p30 pro 5ghz, its strange
Worst part is, 3 months ago it was working. Since I don't use it except when travelling, I have no idea what could have changed in the mean time.
In my case, max user connections was limited.
- press "Show advanced options"
- press "Max connections allowed"
- increase the value

Hi guys,
what network cards are your PC using?
Mine has a Killer Wireless 1535 built in and I can confirm this problem:
P30 (pro) switched to 5 GHz hotspot mode and PC cannot find it.
I think I may have found a reason for it, which needs to be resolved by a manufacturer (Huawei or a network adapter manufacturer - no idea if only Killer is affected):
The Huawei P30 (pro and normal model) seems to default the broadcast channel to channel #149 (5.745 MHz) when switched to 5 GHz hotspot mode.
This is a DFS channel in the only recently approved new upper channel range.
Apparently the killer 1535 cannot or cannot use these channels yet.
Actually it won't see it first. Then, when changing connection mode in the adapter property, it is found.
But after inserting the ssid password, access is not allowed and ssid vanishes from list.
Just like a restriction to invalid channels.
The broadcast on 5 GHz itself works, which I proved with another P30 which can access the AP of the first one.
However my notebooks (all using Killer Wireless cards) as well as a Samsung tablet can't.
So resolution could be:
1. Killer adapts its drivers or
2. Huawei defaults to a 5 GHz broadcast channel in lower, more common, 5 GHz band between ch7 and ch60 e. g.
(Or adds a user-accessible menue allowing selection of broadcast channel.)

Question 5ghz wifi problem

Hi - I recently updated my OP10Pro 5G to the NE2215_11_C26 update, OOS13, US,, and my 5ghz wifi is now really slow - 40-50mbps down - unless I toggle wifi or airplane mode. Speed goes back up to normal, then goes down and stays there. Other devices in 802.11ac work just fine on the 5ghz band
Any idea what's going on?
Thanks

I had exactly the same problem and went through a "chat session" with OnePlus support about two weeks ago. I was asked to send my phone in for "repairs". The way their agent responded to my issue suggested that it is a common problem.
Edit: Sorry, my phone was running OOS 12 at the time I experienced the problem. I don't recall the build number and I don't have the phone now, so I can't check.
So, my phone has been "under repair" now for two weeks. No status update, no idea when it might be repaired or replaced. Meanwhile, I'm using my previous phone, a Moto One Ace 5G, and wondering why I bought the OnePlus at all.

Did you check the negotiate speed?
Have a look with WiFi Monitor, ight shed some light.

I think I figured out my problem. I have Verizon FiOS, and have a G1000 Quantum Gateway AC router and the matching extender. The extender had the same SSID for the 5ghz band as the main router .. so the phone would hang on to the router or extender no matter where I moved in the house, no matter whether I checked the "switch Wifi to stronger network" box. I created a 'sub' SSID, and now the phone will (usually) switch to the stronger network, and seems to work ok.
I didn't have this with my AC Wifi OnePlus 7 Pro, or with my AX laptop. But this did seem to fix the issue with the OP10. I wonder if the new FiOS wifi 6e router + new extender would work better with my 10 Pro if extender is broadcasting same SSID?
i lost wifi 6

As long as the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands will share the same SSID that's l;ikely the phone will pick the one with the "strongest signal".
If you want to make sure to always connect to the 5GHz one, using a different SSID is the only option. Doesn't really matter which AP/router/repeater/extender you use.

Yea.. the issue was that I had the 5ghz band on the SAME SSID being broadcast by both router and extender.. forgetting the 2.4ghz didn't do anything, nor did ensuring that the "switch to stronger Wifi network" toggle was on. My OP10Pro would connect to the router's 5ghz signal when entering the house, then stay on it when moving around the house without switching to the stronger 5ghz signal with same SSID emitted by the extender. By creating TWO 5ghz SSIDs, one for router and one for extender, the OP10Pro now - usually, it isn't perfect - switches between the router/extender 5ghz SSIDs depending on the signal strength, though Android13's cutoff for defining "weak signal" seems either arbitrary or very forgiving. I'm wondering if Verizon's new Wifi 6E router + extender will fix this issue and allow me to just clone the SSID on both devices.. i read somewhere that wifi 6 and 6e devices can do this natively.. not sure as I'm a novice at best at networking. Thanks.

Other than the actual "sensibility", that's not a 10pro specific issue.
2.4 and 5 GHz bands will behave differently and the phone will "perceive" one or the other as the best choice based on various factors and the overall quality of the signal.
I had the very same issue on my laptop.
OnePlus support had my phone for 3 weeks to fix my 5G wifi speed problem. They report that they replaced the motherboard under warranty and the phone has been shipped back to me. I should have it in a couple days and will certainly test to confirm that 5G wifi speed is similar to other devices connected to my network.
I've defined separate SSIDs for 2.4g and 5g wifi in my gateway, so I can control which SSID I connect to. 2.4g was always consistent with other devices connected at 2.4g. The problem with my phone was related only to 5g.

I received my "fixed" phone about a week ago now and I've been monitoring its wifi performance. Bottom line: 5G has been generally slow, much slower than my laptop or my Moto Ace 5G, but the speed is highly variable and quite fast sometimes. I just ran Speedtest on my laptop and OnePlus. Both were connected to the same 5G SSID. The laptop performance was 304 mbps down, 172 mbps up. The OnePlus performance was 48 mbps down, 205 mbps up.
I switched both the phone and the laptop to my 2.4G SSID. Laptop performance was 43 mbps down and 15 up. Phone performance was 116 mbps down and 88 mbps up.
After the 2.4G test, I switched the phone and the laptop back to the 5G SSID and immediately retested wifi speed. I observed performance of 339 mbps down and 373 mbps up on the phone. The laptop speed was 248 mbps down and 148 mbps up.
I know that my gateway broadcasts 5G on two different channels for the same SSID and I have no control over what channels it picks. Maybe the phone picks a congested channel sometimes and the slow observed speeds are due to that, whereas the laptop (and the Moto Ace) always seem to pick the less congested channel?
The other thing I read about was "randomized MAC address" versus "device MAC address" and someone, somewhere (I don't remember where) suggested that using device MAC address resulted in improved speed. I just made that switch for the 5G SSID. Speed is very good now, and I'll monitor it to see if it slows over time.
Sorry for the long message, but I'm thinking that the "fix" really did nothing to improve 5G wifi performance and there is something not quite right about the OnePlus's handling of 5G wifi.
