Google Maps crashes after few seconds saying connection lost and then it hangs

Hey everyone,
I've been using google maps for some time on my previous phone (HTC hermes). Recently got a Kaiser and google maps was working great for the first couple days. Now each time I try to load it up, it lags forever and then kicks to the error message stating that google maps requires a data plan to work...thoughts?
Everything else works, browser market etc. Tried both 3g and wifi. When i open google maps it does show my location but doesnt load any map, just white (with some lines) background and when i try to search for something it just indefinately searches.
Tried restarting the phone... no help...
No idea whats wrong!! is there a problem with google maps?
Same problem here.
Happened to me too, a while back. The problem fixed itself after a day or so though, so my guess is that it was some kind of temporary peering issue between me and the Google Maps servers.
i have the same issue.
It used to work befor but till yesterday its not loading any map data.
My Google maps can only fine the locaion once, after every soft reset.
After soft reset, I checked Quick GPS, it was OK, then I run Google Maps, it showed "seeking satellites", then "active (7)", which makes you thinking everything is OK. and it will locate to your location no problem.
But after that, it won't change location anymore.
Then I closed Google Maps, tried Quick GPS, got "connection failed".
Anybody has similar problem?
Google maps and TT7 were running perfectly on this phone before a hard reset a few days ago!
Sorry if this has been asked before but I could not find it. I have downloaded GPSTest from the market and it finds about 5 or 6 satilites, but when i go to google maps it never finds my location. I am using Myn 1.6 build withthe 3.45.50 radio. Can someone tell me how to get Google maps to use my location.
In the past I had some trouble getting my location also. What I've done is opened GPStest got sat locks and then went directly to google maps my location showed up immediately.
I had that issue until I went to 3.42.5, I am running same setup as you (Crackeyes)
I have a rooted SGS, but with the official ROM 2.2 (unfortunately, until the EUR 2.3.3 official rolls out for my area. I always had extremely slow GPS locks, even worse compared to the Magic and ZTE Blade I had. I had never modified the NTP server, but anyway this affects fix time only if you are connected to the internet.
2 days my GPS went off. Specifically, launching an application such as igo does makes the satellite icon in the status bar flash, indicating that it tries acquire a GPS fix. And then the icon ... disappears! First time I see something like that. Closing and reopening a navigation application, the icon now does not appear at all, as if GPS is totally disabled. But the application does not complain about lack of GPS functionality!
The only way to make the GPS icon to appear is to reboot and restart a GPS-using application. Then the icon disappears again. This happens with Google Maps, iGo, Navigon.
Running GPS Status is a bit different. In this case, the GPS icon remains flashing as long as the application remains active. But no fix whatsoever is achieved... I have tried to Reset A-GPS data and download new data into it. Nothing.
Relating what can be changed on the mobile, I remembered that just upgraded the version of google maps sometime a few days ago and I enabled caching to be able to off-line browse maps. Thinking that this could somehow be the culprit, I disabled offline browsing and rebooted again. Problem persists. Even tried changing the SUPL server, as mentioned in http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/...air-and-froyo/
Any ideas on what might be wrong here. The phone is in perfect condition, no crashes, NOTHING! It is within the guarantee period, but I'd hate returning it. Any info will be appreciated.
Phone firmware is given in my signature. This phone is, and has been, running official 2.2 out of the box. No custom firmwares on it ever.
It was that damned Google Maps update after all! I stumbled into this: http://www.google.ru/support/forum/p/Google+Mobile/thread?tid=53e25a0d053f4eeb&hl=en
Uninstalled (the updates over the stock) Google Maps and presto: locked just fine!
Case solved
