Hi everyone,
The "Do not disturb" feature stop working after I upgraded my OnePlus 10 Pro to Oxygen 13...
still receive notification even when DND is on and with the settings configured to not allow any app to send notifications.
Does anyone had the same problem? How to make it work properly?
nope. you tried turning off and on?

I tried to turn it on and off. Reboot the phone and still doesn't work.
All visual and sound notifications still go through.
I discovered I can use the focus features to silent a specific app. But that's not what I want. I want to use the DnD as it is supposed to be used. It was working perfectly in OxygenOS 12...
i think it's time to ditch updates... need to get back to a12, they have changed to focus mode or priority mode( funny it has both of them) , so now in order to do (both features that were in dnd before) you need to go to focus mode on and put everytime you gonna install new app to put into list list of blocked apps. so you need 2 tiles in quick list to do it. it's strange that it puts app of notifications kinda slow and seems to close some apps in the process... dnd was best thing to live life with phone but i guess i need to go back to android 12. anyway the new UI is grouse
You should open your settings and make sure it is set correctly. COS13 changed the exceptions on mine so make sure your settings are correct.

As I understand it, they completely changed how DND works in OxygenOS13.
If you can choose who can "disturb you" (no one, people from your contacts or "favorites" (or whatever it is called, I´m using a different language setting) then these people can "disturb" you in ANY way. Meaning if you chose "favorites" - you will be informed about every app they use to contact you.
You will not get notifications about EVERYONE ElSE trying to contact you - even if they call. My display won´t even light up. I will just see a missed call. It´s totally useless.
I'm having this issue, after updating yesterday...
I HOPEFULLY found a solution.
In digital wellbeing's option there is the bedtime mode.
With my test today, i found that works like Oxygen 12, so the notification are silent but the calls from favorite still rings.
In oxygen 12 anyway, there was a bug with this feature, if is set with the optimized battery charge of Oxygen.
Tomorrow I will update you if is really working or not.
Anyway, OP is really messing up everything. It's a shame.

I need to turn off all notifications at night as well as calls except from a few contacts. So far, so good and it seems the new system allows that
However, I also want alarms to work. Is that possible to do?
Thanks

Did you really need to start a new thread? haha
But to answer your question, I am pretty sure alarms work with the priority notification system as long as you are on 5.1 or higher. There is even text that says "Alarms are always priority interruptions" in mine. But if not, you can set times. Like so.
I love the device so far, ran only into two minor hiccups.
1) I had other Huawei phones recently and either this is new or I managed to disable it previously and forgot how: When I open the app list I get a row of "suggestions" and find those useless/annoying. Can I fix that?
2) I .. didn't even know that it would come without a notification led before it arrived at my doorstep. Somehow every phone I owned in the last decade or so had one and I start to miss it. Are there any software fixes for this, maybe using the always on display mode?

for 1) - unninstall tips app
Thst doesn't change the behavior (bit is probably a good idea anyway..).
My app drawer starts with a row of suggestions (recent apps I guess), a little bit of separation space and then I have the normal A-Z listing of apps.
The suggestions are bad/crap/wasting space 99% of the time, so I want them gone. Tips doesn't do that as far as I can see..

For the second the P30 pro has Always on display and after the 124 update shows all messages from all apps. Even from 3rd party apps.
How.. why..
That is a (cool?) app to show your battery status around the notch area.
It certainly has nothing to do with the app drawer/launcher problem, but I also don't see the relation to the missing notification led (although it would be cool if the app could function as that instead of a battery indicator, but then it also would need to be displayed whole the screen is "off").
Unrelated, no?

Unfortunately that seems not good enough.
For one, notifications are funky/working only half the time for me so far.
Worse, the notifications that do appear on the always on display are gone after I unlocked the phone once. Even if the notification still exists/wasn't dismissed, it's now gone from the always on display.. :-/

I think this app might work for you Always On Edge - Edge Lighting ? ; https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.used.aoe
I'm using it on my p30 pro and also the s10 plus. You can disable the edge lights and only use the notification icons if you want.

Thanks, that .. might be a solution, maybe. Will spend some time with it, a quick install was both interesting (it's really customizable) and disappointing (some things didn't work at all and I'm .. unsure how it interacts with my default lock screen, how the unlock process is changed).
Maybe just needs more time to check it out? Unfortunately I haven't found proper documentation and the spelling in the options is a bit hard in places [English is a foreign language for me too, so no blame here].
Hey All,
Since the update to android 10 I have noticed some apps I don't get notifications if they aren't running in the background.
Initially Whatsapp was like this, but since the last update that seems to be fine. But apps like Discord, unless I have it open in the background I don't get notifications. I have no issues with Kik, Slack or Messenger.
Is there something I can tweak to carry on getting notifications if the app is closed.
i never had any issues for notifications.
you can go to Settings,Apps,Discord,Battery,Background restriction(make sure its App can use battery in background)
then below it Battery Optimization, look for Discord, press Discord and choose Don't Optimize.
hope it helps.

Hey, thank you, I will give it ago. It's weird how it was fine in Android 9, and even weirder Whatsapp started to behave after the first update after the Android 10 upgrade.

You need to go to Settings--> Battery - - > Power Master - - >Auto start manager - - > Select the apps you want to get notification for
Also, make sure you haven't put the notification on silent for that app

Thank you so much, Auto Start Manager was off for all the apps I didn't get notifications for and on for the ones that I did - setting the ones I wanted to on fixed this.
Is there any reason why some apps are off and others on?

I don't know why it's on for some apps and off for others.
I've recently got my hands on the Mi 11 Ultra, and the top issue I was having was that none/only some notifications will show up. I've searched around the forums and some say that setting the app's battery limit to none, having the app set to auto-start etc. I've followed all those tips and it wasn't really working out for me until I stumbled onto another option.
First, you'll have to enable the developer's option. Once inside, find the setting that says " Adaptive Notification Priority". Turn this OFF and all of your notifications should show up properly now.
Before turning this off, I wasn't getting any of my Instagram Direct notifications and only part of my WhatsApp notifications. Now they all pop up like they're suppose to.
Hope this helps out those with similar issues!

Hope it helps! I'm still messing with the settings to this very day! I'm way too accustomed to the stock android setting as my daily driver before the 11 Ultra was a Pixel 3 XL
Didnt help me... still not Gmail notifications and some apps require to turn on in order to get notifications even when auto-start is enabled and battery consumption is turnd off
To get notifications, you need to do 2 things:
Go in apps and toggle on Autostart, change notification setting to "Important"
Device: Redmi Note 10 5G
Firmware: MIUI Global v12.5.3(RKSMIXM)
After the update to the latest firmware, I'm noticing that a lot of my notifications aren't playing sound when they should be. They all have sound enabled in their respective app settings, and the issue seems to only happen some of the time. I've found that I can get them working semi-consistently if I go into the app settings, tap the sound (which is already set correctly), choose "Pre-Installed Ringtones" in the Themes app, and then hit Apply next to the sound file I want to use. Notifications received after doing this seem to work correctly (i.e. play sound) for a while, but then they stop a short time later.
I'm guessing it has something to do with the MIUI Themes app itself, as one app on my phone, Signal, doesn't bring up the Themes app when I go to select the notification sound, instead bringing up a ringtone picker app I found on the play store. Honestly, I hate the Themes app's layout anyway, and wish I could use the other app to choose all notification sounds, but that doesn't seem to be an option.
If anyone else has experienced this issue and/or has any suggestions to fix, I'd appreciate it.
i dont have this bug. try reinstall via software update the full firmware, by the function "download latest package". it's safe, no data loss, and this procedure (that i made mee to) speed up the system

I tried this, unfortunately no change. Multiple notifications still come up with just vibration, despite the sound being enabled and selected. If I go back through and re-select the sound, it works for a while, but will randomly stop a short while later
other sounds works?

Yes, all other sounds seem to work. Ringtones for calls, alarms, media sounds seem to have no issues.
I'll give a specific example: I set the notification sound for Google Voice messages yesterday afternoon. It seemed to work for the rest of the day. Today, I see the notification pop up, but never heard the sound. It's very annoying, so unlikely that I missed it. I checked the settings without changing them, everything is still set correctly.
My suspicion at this point, after having done a bunch of research on how the ringtone picker intent is handled, is that the MIUI settings customization is somehow failing. I believe the notification sounds are stored in the Android settings package, but MIUI has taken over those parts, and somehow that is failing, but I'm not able to dig deeper since MIUI seems to be closed source. Granted, I'm not a dev, and know just enough Java to muddle my way through interpreting and understanding code, so my guess could be totally off.
have you tried remove miui battery optimization from the app that have this problem? and set remove all limitation? sometimes cause notifications issues. also try disable mi notifications app, use only android notification

I removed battery opti.ization from all those apps awhile ago.
As for the Mi notifications app, are you referring to this?
the hest thing u can do is a new clean installation but first u can try change some setttings. but i'm not sure, it's only an ideai. example: open WhatsApp info, and in battery option set remove all limitations instead off miui optimizations. if the priblem don't go away, i think that an update caused this bug so downgrade your firmware to the latest bugless is the better solution. but first u can try modify some setting... or remove the update from sone syatem app if it's possible your bug is particular
I faced the same problem. I use tasker and have one profile that changes the ringtone when connected to office WIFI
it works but then it sort of stops all notification sounds.
Earlier I thought this is some phone setting issue but when i disabled the profile from tasker my notifications are intact.
Probably something to do with theme app.
