Hey all!
I have recently seen a product on youtube about this USB stick which acts as a phone itself (with a processor, RAM, etc). I'm curious, does anyone here have it and use it? Here's the link: https://carpc.co/
I could really use a product like this for my car, if it works, that is...
Answers are appreciated!
Pretty sure its a scam.

Damn... Is there something similar that is actually legit? I seriously could use one as my car only supports Android Auto, and not Apple Carplay.. So i thought a solution like this would be perfect
Check this thread:
CarPlay AI Box - "Android headunit" dongle?
I have been looking at this as well. I'm going to order one as soon as my wife will let me probably a month or two from now. To my knowledge nobody else seems to be utilizing car play as a generic display output with touch screen support. I...

Hello wonderful wonderful people of XDA-Developers world. First of.. I'm eternally thankful to all the contributors to this wonderful community.
Now for my request.. I'm in real estate and have a need for an Infrared Port on my device which allows me to take prospective buyer's into listed homes. We have this thing called GE Supra that enables that. With the Tilt's many joys, this is one sore feature thats lacking in the Tilt.
So, I went searching on google, wiki, this forum, ppcgeeks, pdaphonehome (why?), and many more only to find that there are apparently tons of USB IR dongles available in the market with a standard USB on one end and the IR blaster/receiver on the other. But, they are meant for a laptop/pc/mac etc.
**Is there ANYTHING I can give a shot at that you think exists maybe in the form of a Bluetooth device that brings IR addon to pdas??! Or a mini-usb for plugging into the Tilt or something.. ANYTHING..!
What about those IR blasters/extenders that one can get at Radioshack or something.. can they be "rigged" in someway to add an IrDA Port to my Tilt???
Please help.
AJ
USB on Kaiser
The USB required for those IR devices are for an USB host. The USB on the Kaiser is not a host USB otherwise we would also be able to add things like thumbdrives, etc. IR has quickly gone the way of the Dodo bird in favor of other wireless technologies like Bluetooth. There are some cheap Windows Mobile Classic devices out there with IrDA still - perhaps when you need to, you can just carry a second device.
Thanks Jonnob
Thanks JonnoB,
I was hoping that I'll get a different answer but I guess there are no other options that getting another device to run that function. Oh well.. back to the ugly Supra DisplayKey that needs to be manually updated each day with using the ancient regular phone line...
Maybe there are bluetooth versions of the GE Suprakey...
I have been asked the same question about the Supra EKey software and the Tilt. Basically I tell the real estate agents to keep their "little blackbox key" if they want the Tilt.
Another angle may be to look for SDIO devices.
For example, there was one released for the Treo a while back: http://www.palminfocenter.com/news/7096/new-sd-card-universal-remote-control-device/
Thats just what I was looking for but in MicroSDIO.. if such thing exists.
Thanks Evil..
Thats what I was searching online for. Maybe I'll try and find out if there is an SD to MicroSD adapter available so that I can plug the infrared SDIO blaster into a microSD adapter (if such a thing exists) and I should be good to go.
Is the MicroSD slot even enabled for I/O functionality?? Dunno..
Man.. more questions than answers.. Maybe I'll have to give in and stick with the black ugly DisplayKey for GE that I have to manually update via frickin' landline.
nuf *****in... I'm gonna move on.
Thanks all for trying to help.

That's a good point. AFAIK the Kaiser is SDIO, but I have never heard of a male microSD to female SD adapter. At least the Kaiser microSD slot has an external opening so it is physically possible.

Seems painful, but there are BlueTooth->Serial adapters (which host a generic serial port profile on BT and have a physical RS-232 interface on the other side) - and I recall seeing Serial->IrDA adapters at one point. Plug two expensive low-volume gadgets together and hope they work? All the while, pointing the IR port at your Real Estate gizmo....

Yeah, I was talking about that one; actually, I keep one of those that I bought some years ago (for an old Toshiba e700 series that I owned).
Something like this, could work as well, supposing that someone write the code to make it work (which, I think, is totally feasible). How much would it cost, that's another story.
USB to IrDA adapter
In this case, you would need as well either a mini usb to usb cable or an adapter.

...and a whole new USB controller in the phone, since the one in there is a USB target not a USB master. Oh and a power source as well, since the USB target controller in the phone expects power provided TO it - just like the USB IrDA dongle's target controller expects power provided TO it.
All of which is not to trivialize the software component.
If the OP's software works on PocketPC but expects a serial port connection to the scanner (IrDA looks like a serial port to software) then his best bet is to find hardware which looks like a serial port to PocketPC software.
Just my $0.02 of course.

That's why I said that it would cost money (actually, a lot of money); developing software, drivers or whatever involved in this project wouldn't be cheap.
By the way, regarding power, oh well, this would be the easiest part, supposing that you really need an infrared port. Obviously, you would need an external source (not the most elegant solution), but this is the same case if using any of the other suggested solutions, being something like the TotalRemote IrDA module the exception, which I think could be a good approach.

I don't think you understand. Certainly it's not impossible, but you're asking effectively why grabbing two extension cords and plugging them together doesn't light up a lamp.
The two devices you want to connect BOTH have (for the sake of simplicity) "USB inputs", while a normal PC has "USB outputs". You're proposing hooking two "inputs" together - and there's not really a money solution to that.... in the same sense that you can't just buy a different brand extension cord to make the lamp light up.
Anyway, suffice it to say that for all effective purposes, hooking a USB IrDA dongle up to a USB phone is not going to be practical.

TV Out AV Cable For HTC Touch HD2
100% Brand New
Description:-
An accessories that you need to view your phone files on a TV
Some phone models also support transfer of pictures, video clips and powerpoint presentations to the TV.
Compatibility list : HTC TOUCH HD2
The design of actual item may look slightly different from the picture, depending on each batch of stock
----------------------------
EDIT: For people stumbling across this thread, the joke is this will not now, not ever work with the HD2! Don't waste your time or money hoping otherwise
Where is the hardware on the HD2 ?
It looks like any TV-out cable, I have the same type on my Omnia Pro.
The question is : Can the HD2 use the video out ? I don't recall seeing it in hardware specification.
Edit: Anyway I've just bought one, it was cheap enough for a TV-out and if it doesn't get used with HD2, I can still use it with Omnia Pro
I don't get the joke.
I seriously doubt it will work. If, by some miracle it does work, let us know.
To be honest I doubt it will do anything, but I needed a TV-out cable anyway
You might want to give this thread a read before you try the cable. There's some registry changes & cabs that you might want to play around with to see if you can actually get tv out on the hd2. Probably wont work, but might as well try if you're getting the cable.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=577338
impossible!!! where is the cable plugged in?
This is a standard 3.5mm jack with stereo + video. You can plug it like you would plug the headset in
My old N900 could do this, right out of box, with a tv out (3.5 mm jack) Whyy cant the HD2?
Your OLD ??? N900 , if its that old ill be happy to take it off your hands lol

Because the N900 has a specific software (and hardware) unlike the HD2.
my nokia n96 had a cable that plugged into the audio slot and then the 3 coloured cable that go into tv, if i can find it ill test it and let u know
Why would you trust some eejit on eBay selling a cable saying it's compatible with your phone, over the countless threads on xda explaining why TV Out is not possible on the HD2.
Here's a hint, the part of the Snapdragon chipset that deals with TV out is not connected to anything. Unless you plan on soldering the connector into your 3.5mm jack yourself, it's never going to work.

Hey everyone. I gotta say, the droid turbo is an incredible phone even without the promised 48 hour battery life. However, I can not find any info on support for MHL or not. I've got a pioneer radio (this one to be exact) that demands it and so far I can't get it to work. Any help/alternatives to MHL? Thanks.

When I looked for the spec everything I read kept referring to some form of casting or mirroring wirelessly. I am disappointed and pretty confident there is no MHL
Sent from my SCH-I815 using XDA Free mobile app
I don't know about MHL, but it is compatible with WiDi, MiraCast and AllCast/AllShare.
Just turn on your WiFi then bring up the toggles from the notifications screen and you will see a Cast Screen option.

Droid Turbo doesn't support video out over a wired connection. Your best bet is to buy a Miracast dongle like the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter or Belkin Miracast Adapter and an HDMI coupler (Female to Female).
Connect the coupler to the HDMI sticking out of the radion and connect the adapter to the coupler. You'll need to provide power the wireless adapter as well.
For the Pioneer radio set the settings to HDMI connection type for AppRadio Mode, pair the Bluetooth from phone the radio and go to your display settings on your phone and connect to the wireless adapter.
PM me if you need more help.
I don't know where to post this so I'm posting here due to the amount of other Erisin posts.
I'm in the middle of looking for a double din head unit for my Rav4, this Erisin ES4763C head unit has come up on eBay / Erisin website when googled.
After reading a lot of reviews its putting me off spending around £250 on this head unit with camera, reverse camera, DAB+ etc.
I'm after a head unit that will do almost everything and it seems to fit the bill.
I'm wanting to know are they easily fixable, are they able to refund money if said item is broken? I'll be paying via PayPal to get some protection.
I like to research before I plunge in. Youtube videos seem to have helped a bit on what they do and they seem ok.
Would you recommend buying one or should I stay clear? - Just don't want to end up looking like Homer Simpson in my car with separate things like dash cam, satnav and bluetooth headset. (Season 14, episode 20.) (google "homer simpson car gadgets" since im not allowed to post links yet.)
After a bit more research, I've come across Xtrons PCD67HGT that does all the same stuff as Erisin but without the TV option. (But who drives with TV on?)
I honestly don't know which head unit to go for.
I'm after a head unit that can do these:
DAB+
Dash cam record + speed
Sat Nav
Reverse camera
Hands free phone
Steering wheel control
WiFi + 4G (or connect to phones 4G. Is this possible? So I don't have to buy another sim card?)
DVD + mirroring for back passengers.
What head units are there for me? Vehicle is a RAV4 2004 gen 2 D-4D.
I have around £260 to spend.
Thank you.

honestly stay away from any HU from china... they are all headaches one way or another. Go with something expensive.. like alpines andriod unit.. your looking at 1200 CAN. but w9rth every dime i sure wish i did and i use to install them for a living.
I got a seicane s0480.. had a bad circuitboard they sent me a new one.. now i cant use my screen..
Eonon have issues they all do. Spend your money on something worth it with less hassle
Im using Xtrons TA701PL and it really runs like a charm.
Some of the most important setups are there, and its got expansion slots for everything and then some.
Sound is way better than i expected, perhaps some would argue that the amp is a little to the lower side, but its still able to blast out your speakers if you want to.
Ive tried a various amount of the unbranded CH HU´s from Ebay/Amazon, but nothing compares to Xtrons, i even had one of these unbranded ones having 20 mins to open spotify!, on my Xtrons, its there allmost instant.
Support wise, they do have a forum, but its one of those forums where you cant just post anyways, but they have to allow your post to be shown, so its 110% useless, BUT they do have a online chat, where you allso can leave an email, and they do respond pretty quickly.
I had 1 issue with mine, a faulty cable, and they sendt me a new one, at no charge.
Only real wierd issue software wise i have, is some apps seems to see BT as turned off, this seems to be a trend among Android HU´s, every single one ive tried has this, it can sometimes interferer with some apps that need BT to be activated.
I bought mine directly at Xtrons

Main question is: how good are you at DIY electronics? If not good at all you might want to consider buying a unit from a specialized company that will also set it up in your car.
After using several chinese HUs here are my findings:
All the units I have seen have low quality glossy LCD screens. If you live in a sunny area don't expect to see anything on the screen.
There is no QC at the end of the production cycle. That is why people receive units with non functioning screens or get weird errors from units with bad internal connections.
System architecture is unnecessarily complicated AND has serious limitations. For example you cannot: use a BT dongle or use a generic camera with the DVR app.
Bluetooth phone connections are generally of poor quality.
Some 4G modems work, others don't - no drivers.
Dual-zone (i.e having satnav on the HU screen and play a movie on the back screens) isn't generally available and you should specifically ask for that.
Steering wheel controls work as long as you have a resistive- type SWC. If not, additional modules are required.
Older units (with Android 4.4 or 5.1) have too little RAM and may become extremely slow.
With that said you can still find good value for money, just make sure you talk to the seller before paying anything and confirm every single feature for your specific car model. Chinese will answer any question before sale and pretty much disappear after sale.
I cannot comment on DAB+, never used it.
Overlooked this when buying the tablet, supprised there was no adaptor included. Are they assuming all the buyers are S10 users?
Anyway, will any adaptor work or does it have to be one from Samsung?

The adaptor has to have a dac built in or it will not work with the tablet same with the note 10
The Note 10 dongle has a DAC built in. It should work for the tab s6. I have one ordered right now.
I have USB C audio adapter from Huawei Mate 20 Pro, but when i connect it to the tablet, a message appears that the usb device is not supported.
I have S5e, but it should apply S6
I have few different USB C headset adapter for Pixel and HTC U11 Life, both work as it's supposed to
As much as I hate to say it, the cheap Apple one is one of the best you can get unless you're willing to spend quite a bit more. Did a bunch of reading after I ordered my Note 10+, tests put the Apple one ahead of the Google ones and plenty of others that cost 5 times as much as the Apple one. Works well, but as with all things Apple the cable is going to fray within a year. I added a silicone stress relief that covered the entire cable since I had a bag of them, maybe it'll last two years.
have 2 of those
none are working with korean LTE S6
any idea why?
thanks
Bought this one works perfectly.

This model works on the N10, S8, and my laptop via Type C. My S6 hasn't arrived, but it would likely function given the devices I mentioned. Sound quality is great with my KZ earbuds.

Working ok with s6
I haven't received my S6 yet but this Google dongle works with my Note 10+ so I imagine it will work with the tablet too.

I got this. It is a bit expensive but allows for charging and is a nice form factor.

Oddly enough, the Middle eastern versions (and most probably Europeans) got a type C headphones in the box, i myself bought from Bahrain and we got a type C headphones, albeit the cheap kind but hey it works
USB C connector has analog headphone connection
They are switched in with some sense ID magic, but there is left, right, and microphone analog wires. You can find the details in a search.
Any cheap (non-DAC) headphone adapter should work as it is just the right wiring and maybe a few resistors on the right pins. I have one that works.
I purchased 2 and both make hissing soumd, One was noname, the other Baesus make both ****.
