Hi folks.
I bought two devices of the new 256/8 version - both with exact same firmware and model codes.
After unpacking them and running HW Info on both, I realized that:
- One came with s5khm2_i_samsung (f1.9)
- The other came with s5khm2_ii_samsung f(1.89) - higher angle of view.
Also, I understood that the accelerometer/gyro are different in both devices.
- The first device includes includes a lsm6dso (STMicro supplier) with a power of 0.24+0.55 mA
- The second device includes icm42605 (TDK supplier) with a power of 0.24+0.57 mA.
The first device counts with 31 sensors and the second device counts with 32 (includes xiaomi free fall - apparently a disk damage prevention from falls, activated from the accelerometer)
The question is:
1) how to fully understand how different are the photographic capabilities of the main lens among the two devices?
2) can I expect relevantly higher power consumption from the TDK accelerometer/gyro?
Extra point - even though the screen panels are the same (from Samsung - code 38), the first device has a bit of a more reddish tint, less contrast but higher brightness, while the second device looks a bit dimmer but reveals better contrast.
Your inputs are greatly appreciated. Cheers!
Also shot two photos with the devices.
Maybe my eyes are failing, but can't see major differences, except perhaps that the shot on device 2 seems a bit more saturated.
Am I correct?
From what I know, there isn't a 256GB version of the Redmi Note 10 Pro at all.

Well, I also just ordered the 256GB 8GB version. And I can't find any info about it, it's not mentioned anywhere in official specs.
I hope I won't have any problems with custom roms.

It's a new version, 8/256 Gb with product code MZB0DF9EU.
I bought two units at Mediamarkt Spain for 239€ each. It can be seen in physical and online shops across Europe already - I've seen in Germany and Portugal too.
The production date is 10.2022.
The reason why Xiaomi stayed silent is perhaps the fact that this 256Gb would cannibalize the sales of the newer Redmi Note 11 Pro, which besides the inferior processor, only includes a maximum of 128 Gb and has a more expensive retail price.

Does Dolby Atmos work? I've seen some reports it got broken in MIUI13.

Even for 274€ is a great purchase. At 239€ really seemed a steal for the specs. Aren't you using it already?
Dolby Atmos is working perfectly on this MIUI 13.0.15. It is a lovely addition, making the sound richer and louder on the speakers.
And I can add that both speakers and 3.5mm jack sound louder than my Poco F2 Pro and X3 Pro.
It won't stay on MIUI much longer, as I applied for bootloader unlock straightaway. The 256gb version should not be a problem with custom ROMs. Will let you know if it is otherwise.
Enjoy your device

Mine was shipped this morning, thanks for the Dolby info.
I was actually looking for something up to 500€, was really disappointed there's nothing special in that range (battery wise). Was considering 12 Lite, but I don't like new releases, you never know how good will the community support end.

There are so many of these phone versions and names, mi, not mi, T, S, NE, pro, not pro, pro +..., 128GB, 64GB, 256GB, RAM 6GB, 8 GB, 12GB,... I doubt they even know what to put on their webpage. Some big guy at Xiaomi was reading this tread, that's why it got updated.

Haha super. Exact same thinking here.
Got these two bad boys. Just seemed like the best value for money and better combo of large internal memory + SD expansion + big battery + nice AMOLED + cameras not too bad + FM Radio + 3.5mm jack.
Bought a 512gb SD card to go in it.
Now waiting for sunday to unlock the bootloader. Can't wait
So far, impressions are great and the device feels way more expensive than it costs. Hoping you guys enjoy it too.

Nope. Samsung videos are unbeatable according to reviewers. Photos might be better on the mi8.
It has a 105 dxomark for photo. Video dragged it down.
Also, techtablets made a video on the mi8 vs op6, the audio recording capabilities of the mi8 are very very bad (might be a software issue). You should check out that video.

You can't freeze the action using auto mode. Sometimes you get lucky. The auto mode of Huawei Mate 10 is quite good and the phone can take good action shots.
The reason why I didn't get this phone is I can't get K9 mail to work unless you use the global ROM. With the Mi 8, K9 works but only sometimes. It's a step up from my Mate 8 though except for the manual mode. Might have to use the global ROM too but unlocking the boot loader takes a long time!

The most expensive will be the explorers edition with a transparent back and an in-display fingerprint sensor, also with a smaller battery (3000mah).
I'm in HK and for me here the mi8 is a lot cheaper. You can just check their website and compare prices.
Mi 8 6gb + 128gb = HK$3,699
Mi mix 2s 6gb+ 128gb = HK$4,399
Mi mix 2s uses ceramic on the back I think that's why it's more expensive.
The explorers edition is not out yet so no prices on that.
The lowest end which is the mi8 se has an all together different design and a different chipset(snapdragon 710), first released on this phone itself.

I'm assuming there might be a Mi 9s with ois and larger battery. The Mi 9 will have poor quality in low light photos
Got an Mi 8 blue 128 gb from Amazon WHD Like New for just 320 Euro. Wouldn't upgrade to the Mi 9 bc it is about 150 euro more expensive. Also a problem would be the missing OIS. Especially in Low Light situations. Nope, Mi 8 is still a great device. Btw: the Mi 9 is having a double higher SAR value which I personally care about a lot! 1,4 vs. 0,7.

From the FCC's website:
"ALL cell phones must meet the FCC’s RF exposure standard, which is set at a level well below that at which laboratory testing indicates, and medical and biological experts generally agree, adverse health effects could OCCUR."
Also, bigger OEM's such as Samsung also have devices with high SAR values, pretty sure the S10 or S10+ is 1.5
Hi guys
My Mi5s is two years old, so, i've started to look for a new device, first, i thought about Poco F1 coz its a good phone and relative cheap, then mi9 dropped significantly its price, it was above $500 when its launched and now, we can find this piece of tech for about $359.
So, when i was willing to buy, i saw two new phones which got my attention, k20 pro ($379) and Lenovo Z6 pro ($389).
Lenovo is the best in specs and battery life
Poco is one year old, but still great and also cheaper of all of them
Mi9 is the 2nd best 2019 phone yet (OnePlus 7 is the best)
K20 pro is a kind of improvement of Mi9 (like Mi9s).
These are my opinion, what about your? could u help me to choice a new phone?
Cheers
I wouldn't post a question like this on a Mi9 forum...
My option would be, Mi9! Surprise!!
Just buy what you think is best for you, and stay offline for the next 2 years, you will always have a better option a few months later.

I wouldn't say many poco x3 are seething. spec wise is practically the same except the AMOLED and camera. I'm happy with good panel LCD screen on the x3- won't need to worry about burn-in/bleed if one is a heavy gamer. x3 is still one beast of a phone for the price!
Well Redmi Note 10 Pro (Global) and Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite (Global) are the two phones I'm looking for which for the 6/128 GB variant seem to cost just about the same (~265 €). My focus is on:
DualSIM, dedicated microSD, good stabilized video 1080p and possibly also 4k, very good day and ok night pictures, fast cpu/gpu (Antutu over 250k), Fast LTE with Bands 3,20,7,1,32 (8,38,28a), 3.5mm-Jack.
Both devices have those features. Unfortunately no Snapdragon 8 series devices with dedicated microSD and 3.5mm-Jack exist, so I need to stick to this lower mid-range class.
Redmi Note 10 Pro real advantage of 108 Mpx Samsung5K HM2 f/1.9 over 64 Mpx Sony IMX682 Exmor RS f/1.89 needs to be proven by side by side dedicated picture and video test. With GCam probably because of the slightly better processor in the Mi 10T Lite (Snapdragon 750G) it seems possible to activate EIS for 4k Videos. With Snapdragon 732G this seems unlikely to be possible. Also Mi 10T Lite has 3 of the 4 important 5G Bands in my area, could not find info that a Note 10 Pro Snapdragon Upgrade to 5G will be released (Global, the Note 10 5G is based on MediaTek).
So the advantages of Note 10 Pro (AMOLED, 108 Mpx, Radio FM) currently seem less important then those of Mi 10T Lite. I will wait until detailed camera comparisons are available, possibly with GCam for both devices.
EDIT: I need to correct that Mi 10T Lite (Global) according to several reviews on YouTube has no dedicated microSD (only hybrid DualSIM). Many techsheets online seem to have dedicated. This is a bummer and will leave only Redmi Note 10 Pro (Global) as candidate for my next buy.
5x optical zoom would have sold me, guess ill have to wait for another phone

I wouldn't say many poco x3 are seething. spec wise is practically the same except the AMOLED and camera. I'm happy with good panel LCD screen on the x3- won't need to worry about burn-in/bleed if one is a heavy gamer. x3 is still one beast of a phone for the price!

Been using xiaomi devices since redmi 2 prime, their phones are either hit or miss. Sometimes they absolutely cheap out on hardware. My current redmi note 7 has a LCD panel and it shows signs of screen burn. These manufacturers are pumping out phones without worrying about quality and overall experience.

i had the lg v20 and it was supposedly a "flagship lg phone" but it was just a mess the two screen design didn't look at all and there was a lot of burn in
i didn't even know LCD panels can get burn in until i got that phone
Thing is the redmi note 9 variants have good, stable roms by now but it took months and months to get there, which was an exercise in frustration I'm not going to go through again, so I'm perfectly fine with my 9s and will get this one once/if there are solid roms available with all bugs squashed. Not interested in smelly Mi Ui.

The first stable (GSI) ROM was from sooti. Other non GSI ROMs weren't maintained long before you had to switch to another ROM. That's a pain.
I hope the Redmi Note 10 Pro or newer Poco phones will get better community support.

Need to rant again: I do not understand why in every series and also other brands with a better CPU (Snapdragon 8 series) they omit the microSD slot (not even shared) and in most cases also the 3.5mm-Jack. Is Google enforcing this?
The Redmi Note 10 Pro with Snapdragon 888 (865 also ok) and maybe better RAM specs would be awesome.
Don't worry. Exchange it with note 9 pro, you'll get a wholesome discount of 100$ or 9000₹.

Yeah, but why has it more interfaces-expansion-ports/connectivity then Xiaomi top phones? I would pay more and think the CPU, microSD slot and Jack alone would not make the phone much more expensive (like 600 $ or more). At least Redmi K40 Pro with Snapdragon 888 does cost only ca. 460 $ but has no microSD slot and no 3.5mm-Jack. Since everyone, not only Xiaomi, is doing it I do not understand it: why not use the integration of those two features as advantage to the competition? There must be some hidden policy behind this IMHO
Hah: It almost seems Xiaomi did use the strategy I wanted at least for the Poco X3 Pro (PX3P) presented yesterday! It has a shared/hybrid microSD slot and 3.5mm-Jack paired with a Snapdragon 860 - Antutu ~486k. By comparison the Snapdragon 732G in the Redmi Note 10 Pro (RN10P) has Antutu ~288k - Snapdragon 865 has Antutu ~615k and Snapdragon 888 has Antutu ~730k - so not top flagship performance but solid medium/premium territory, while the Snapdragon 732G now seems more budget level: even the Snapdragon 678 in the Redmi Note 10 (available for under 200$) delivers Antutu ~277k.
In addition PX3P has the advantage of UFS Storage 3.1 against UFS Storage 2.2 in RN10P. But it lacks FM Radio, AMOLED and also has no 5G. The "better" POCO F3 also presented yesterday by comparison is a rebranded Redmi K40 Pro (for Global) with Snapdragon 870 and 5G but no microSD (some sheets say it has Independent SD slot) and no 3.5mm-Jack and also good prices. The Poco F2 Pro at least has the 3.5mm-Jack.
Of course the camera in the PX3P seems disadvantaged with 48MP, f/1.79 IMX582 Exmor for the main lense, but fast CPU and memory are attractive for fast video editing etc. I will try to compare reviews with a focus on 4k EIS and 1080p EIS Video.
It's crazy how Xiaomi is coming up with these phones. Xiaomi is just competing with itself for 350USD and below phones right now

I agree. Some small competitors like Realme and Vivo try to deliver similar price/performance, but because much less models will be selled, much lower community support regarding GCam, CustomROMs (like Xiaomi.eu/mi-globe, AOSP/LOS based, etc.) will be available and so in my case much less attractive at similar price.
OnePlus has left this price territory and other interesting devices from Asus, Google, Samsung, Motorola just miss features and/or cost too much in comparison.
The thing I would like to see on sub 350$ Xiaomi phones is OIS (optical image stabilization) paired with gyroscope EIS stabilization to get top notch videos at 1080p or even 4k and at the same time less shaky/blurry images. But it seems Megapixel of the sensor are the stronger (selling) argument for the time being. In my case a top quality 12-18 Megapixel image is more then enough, I dislike the washed out details at zoom 1:1 of Smartphone best resolution pics on a Monitor screen.
Hi there!
Apologies if this is not the right place to post this.
What do people think of the two devices? I'm curious to hear if there are people who switched from OP to Mi devices or the other way around and why.
Cheers!

I had Xiaomi 4 years ago and since then I have been on oneplus 5t, 6t and 7 pro all the time and I really wanted to have a 9 pro but as I saw the price and the fact that these cameras, apart from good marketing, do not offer anything great, I was looking for an alternative and it was mi 11 ultra. I ordered from china and the 8gb / 256 version came out cheaper for me than the op 9 pro. Chinese rom, but it will easily flash a European one after the premiere.
For me, the advantages of oneplus are:
-minimally better screen
-oxygen os
and that's all
Xiaomi:
- the best (apparently) camera on the market
-innovative appearance
-second screen (I hope it will be useful)
Thanks for sharing. The Mi 11 Ultra does look quite good even if it is a bit heavier. I think OP9Pro wins on the looks, or at least the hand feel department.
The 2nd screen is cool, but I didn't find anything in the settings when I was playing around with it in the store. So I couldn't figure out the customization and the interaction of it. It does react to touch for sure, but it was kind of useless in that situation where no notifications were coming in etc.
Wrong thread . Delete my post please.

even the screen is brighter on the Mi11 ultra.
for me its a no brainer, Mi 11 ultra all the way!
OP9PRO can be compared to mi 11 pro, not ultra, and still lose
OnePlus 9 Pro's advantages:
Samsung LTPO AMOLED panel - more power efficient
Smaller, tidier and more discreet looking camera bump
Superior Ultrawide Angle lens in terms of image quality - Uses the newer and bigger 1/1.56", 1.0µm IMX766 vs Xiaomi's 1/2" 0.8µm IM586
Lighter - 197g vs 234g
Current local availability with trade-ins
Cleaner and default bloatfree OS
Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra's advantages:
Brighter screen - max 1700nits
Slightly more responsive screen - up to 480hz touch sampling rate, good for gaming
Largest mains sensor on a phone since the Nokia 808 - Most reviews still pending but it's looking promising
Zoom is miles ahead in both videos and photo capture - 5x optical with a bigger sensor
Can record 1080p 60FPS on front camera and 8k on all rear sensors
Bigger battery
67w wired + 67w wireless charging that charges equally as fast due to new battery technology
Gorilla Glass Victus front as opposed to GG5 on the OnePlus
Ceramic rear back - Defintely feels and looks more premium than glass or plastic imo
IR blaster if needed
Secondary screen depending on your use cases - Notifications, clock, answer/reject incoming phone calls, personalized logos/images to show off from your gallery
WiFi 6e support - nice to have future-wise
Cheaper/identical pricing - 12GB RAM / 256GB onboard storage costs less than OnePlus' 12GB RAM / 256GB storage offering (at least from what I've seen so far)
Bottom line: I'd recommend the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra easily!
Came across your thread and wanted to share my opinion.
I bought the OnePlus 9 Pro on launch day and ended up returning it.
The North American variant of the OnePlus 9 Pro is seriously lacking compared to its variants in other markets. It doesn't come with Dual-SIM capability which was a big selling feature for me personally. The screen is nice but didn't blow me away.
Mi 11 Ultra on the other hand has 1 of the best displays in the market currently in terms of quality/resolution/brightness.
I have had the OnePlus 5T since launch and it has served me well till now. The only downside of getting the Mi 11 Ultra in North America is that we may not get full 5G support. Even the global variant doesn't have most of the 5G bands used in US/Canada.
Does anybody know if Google Pay will work with either the Chinese ROM/EU ROM? The last xiaomi phone I had was the Redmi Note 4.
I doubt it will on the Chinese but it will on the already released fastboot EU ROM. And of course, when it's released globally, it will be on the native global ROM, so you could flash that too.
Google Pay was working for me on Chinese Ron in Mi10 Ultra, so I don't think there should be an issue with Mi11 Ultra.
