[*][XDA Meet Up] - 2011. . . . "REALLY COME THIS TIME!" ---ORGANIZATION IN PROGRESS
[/PLAIN]
We should meet up and see our fellow XDA members.
We should defiantly try in 2011 to meet up. Lets plan early, and then make the best arrangements for this.
Cities that the most members populate and can meet up in --
Europe -
Western Europe:
London - ??? and ???
Amsterdam - ??? and ??? - Thanks for the fix Chainfire, That was a big fail!
Eastern Europe:
Parague - Needs more user attention, WE MUST KNOW IF THIS WILL BE A HOT SPOT OR NOT!
Bratislava - Needs more user attention, WE MUST KNOW IF THIS WILL BE A HOT SPOT OR NOT!
USA-
West Coast:
Las Vegas - Galaxys and ~~Tito~~
Portland - ??? and ???
East Coast:
New York - ??? and ???
Other cities:
Mexico City
Cities/places into consideration:
Moscow
Sydney
India - Mumbai or Pune
Date:
Sometime in June, we just need to figure out times for each city then we can conference them together.
I know one major chef is from vegas as i've met him there before
I'm from southern california.. but vegas isnt TOO far.. I could saunter up that way for merriment
There is an old thread regarding this.
I think it´s a good idea
I like the idea! But I'm living in Holland... I'm wondering how you guys all look and talk.
NRG is from vegas.
Now I just have to convince my brother to have his stag in Vegas....lol
On a serious note, if any members are from Belfast or anywhere in Ireland and fancy a meet up........I would also be up for this

lol...I think it sounds like a great excuse to head to Vegas
We could carpool Da_G...lol
I think we should seriously have a XDA meet up, and schedule it for different cities and stuff on the same day, and then conference it all at the same time.
What would be an appropriate place to meet up? I know that I would't be able to take part in the merriment if its in a bar, maybe a Starbucks or bookstore.
Nerd-con 2010!!!!!
w00t w00t
I'm in ^_^
Where at?
I wont beable to go until I have the HD2, and that wont be until May 30(Contract expires), maybe early June, so we have plenty of time to plan this.
Where is another area that thrives with XDA memberization?
I know New York, and London are two common places that have XDA members in them.
Any input form them?
We should have the meet up be the same for those cities and conference them on someones laptop and talk through there.
Merge threads ¡?
Please read here, there was a lot of interest of some, and perhaps your idea of local meet-ups it´s more realistic
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=483612&highlight=party
Select London as a central place..shedule up the meet..talk to OEMs like HTC, acer samsung toshiba, appdevelopers, whom this forum serves as last resort solutions, get some sponsorship and organise..i dont think it will be difficult..Lets give a thought about it

i got it all figured out..
Da_G can swing by and scoop me up ( San Diego )
then we can mozey on down and get Acid.
ROADDDD TRIPPPPP!
Vegas has a few interesting attractions and is always ready for a party / meet up
Vegas should be the main hub for the west coast. New York for the east, London for Western Europe, and some other city for Eastern Europe. Then we all conference live, but time zones will be a problem so why not have both conference separately, and we have them both recorded to see what was going on at the XDA meet ups.
Of course all XDA members can watch from each live stream.
We just have to plan this right. And get enough people.
We can always add cities too, if there are enough members in a city. And have more hubs, that can conference with the main hubs.

So, the west is finally in Libya helping the rebels over there.
http://edition.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/africa/03/19/libya.civil.war/index.html?hpt=T1
I believe this is great, as long as air support is the only thing we're supporting with. I know, we are not the world's police, but when such a genocide is taking place I believe it's right to help the people of Libya.
Yeah I think it's about time the UN/US/UK/France did something about this. Colonel Gudaffi (spelling?) is totally messed up in the head. Does he honestly think that attacking even more now is going to help the situation? And more does he think that Pro-Gudaffi people take on the western world? Let's hope it ends well with little or no deaths to be had to those risking their lives going over to help the Libyan people.
I'm shocked at this.
I mean;
France going to war!?!
What universe did I wake up in!?

France has for long been a very powerful country when it comes to their army. It's also one of the five members of the United Nations Security Council.
France and UK are leading the operation.

Heh i knew i wouldn't be first.. I jumped at this thread the second i saw french and fighter lol
I find it interesting that France is actually getting involved considering they didn't want to have anything to do with the US' involvement in Iraq...maybe they have some interests of their own in Libya?
No politics.
Thread closed.
I searched but didn't find any thread like this...
There are many people here who would travel to different cities, states, countries...
And not everyone knows about everything!
Yes, there's Google, you can search, check reviews...
But wouldn't it be better if we could have some 1st hand information here?
So that someone traveling somewhere new doesn't get harassed unnecessarily...
Also, we could have posts describing the specialties of your region/zone...
Anything social, political, cultural facts...
This could help a lot of people when need be...
If there's anything wrong in it, mods feel free to close the thread... but i just hope we could help each other with a lot many things this way...
:good:
The UK is the armpit of Europe. If you come here you will get ripped off by everybody, not just taxi drivers. The beaches don't have sand..or sun for that matter. We specialize in going out on weekends playing catch the STD and throwing up on pavements.
Most of the population think Eastenders is the height of cultural entertainment and our politicians take it in turns every few years to see how hard they can screw the working man over.
You'd be better off going on a camping tour of Pripyat than taking a holiday in the UK.

Completely agree. At every single corner of the UK people try and get money from you.

I'd talk about my City...
Kolkata (earlier Calcutta) is an old Indian Capital City ( Now the Capital Is New Delhi)...
When the British ruled India, calcutta was their capital... So there are some pretty old British monuments, architecture etc...
It is a lazy city... The average summer temperature has been on the rise, it goes to a max of about 45 degree Celsius...
A drop in temperature below 20 degrees is supposedly winter time here!
We have great rains in July-August that floods a few regions...
The population of the city including its suburbs is about 15million! Wherever you go, you'd see people people people!!
There are some nice places to visit, i'll try getting some pics sometime later...
People in general are nice, but you see, there are every kind of people everywhere...
Politically, the communist party was in power from the 70's till a year and a half back...
It's an old, lazy life-style city, will glimpses of sparks during the festive season!
Will post some pics of the festivity that went on last week... it's majestically beautiful
If anyone plans coming to Kolkata (Calcutta), do drop a message to me for sure!
wiki link- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kolkata
Darjeeling, Sundarban are nearby places worth a trip!

That should keep Johnny Foreigner away Dirk, nicely done. Keep Britain and it's glorious sandy sunkissed beaches (such as West Wittering, and the boobie fest that is Bournemouth) free for us Brits. Could you imagine if they came over and discovered just how good value Southport Pier arcade is? It'd be shockingly over run within days! By jingo I won't hear of it!

Ah that takes me back!
After a day LARPing around in hundred acre woods near Boarhunt, we went to the Ship Inn for a drink, when one of the guys said "Don't look, but that guy at the bar used to be in the Monkees"
Of course we all turned around then realised we didn't have a clue what anyone in the Monkees looked like, so Davy Jones was safe.
Bergen, Norway. The wettest place in the universe. We like to spend our time in front of computers, and being social means to spend $300 on overpriced beer and pizza. At summer time, a million eggshell white norwegians like to migrate to the south of the equator with our best buds, the swedes, and getting drunk and smashing things (much like the brits). We repeat this twice a year; summer and winter.
We also love to whine about everything.
Welcome!

i guess that's a universal fact!
all politicians are such a breed!!
Montreal is Europe in North America. Living here sucks, because the premier of our province (equivalent to governor of a state), is practically openly racist toward the English. Other than the language feud, and the education riots, its a pretty nice place to visit
