[*][XDA Meet Up] - 2011. . . . "REALLY COME THIS TIME!" ---ORGANIZATION IN PROGRESS
[/PLAIN]
We should meet up and see our fellow XDA members.
We should defiantly try in 2011 to meet up. Lets plan early, and then make the best arrangements for this.
Cities that the most members populate and can meet up in --
Europe -
Western Europe:
London - ??? and ???
Amsterdam - ??? and ??? - Thanks for the fix Chainfire, That was a big fail!
Eastern Europe:
Parague - Needs more user attention, WE MUST KNOW IF THIS WILL BE A HOT SPOT OR NOT!
Bratislava - Needs more user attention, WE MUST KNOW IF THIS WILL BE A HOT SPOT OR NOT!
USA-
West Coast:
Las Vegas - Galaxys and ~~Tito~~
Portland - ??? and ???
East Coast:
New York - ??? and ???
Other cities:
Mexico City
Cities/places into consideration:
Moscow
Sydney
India - Mumbai or Pune
Date:
Sometime in June, we just need to figure out times for each city then we can conference them together.
I know one major chef is from vegas as i've met him there before
I'm from southern california.. but vegas isnt TOO far.. I could saunter up that way for merriment
There is an old thread regarding this.
I think it´s a good idea
I like the idea! But I'm living in Holland... I'm wondering how you guys all look and talk.
NRG is from vegas.
Now I just have to convince my brother to have his stag in Vegas....lol
On a serious note, if any members are from Belfast or anywhere in Ireland and fancy a meet up........I would also be up for this

lol...I think it sounds like a great excuse to head to Vegas
We could carpool Da_G...lol
I think we should seriously have a XDA meet up, and schedule it for different cities and stuff on the same day, and then conference it all at the same time.
What would be an appropriate place to meet up? I know that I would't be able to take part in the merriment if its in a bar, maybe a Starbucks or bookstore.
Nerd-con 2010!!!!!
w00t w00t
I'm in ^_^
Where at?
I wont beable to go until I have the HD2, and that wont be until May 30(Contract expires), maybe early June, so we have plenty of time to plan this.
Where is another area that thrives with XDA memberization?
I know New York, and London are two common places that have XDA members in them.
Any input form them?
We should have the meet up be the same for those cities and conference them on someones laptop and talk through there.
Merge threads ¡?
Please read here, there was a lot of interest of some, and perhaps your idea of local meet-ups it´s more realistic
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=483612&highlight=party
Select London as a central place..shedule up the meet..talk to OEMs like HTC, acer samsung toshiba, appdevelopers, whom this forum serves as last resort solutions, get some sponsorship and organise..i dont think it will be difficult..Lets give a thought about it

i got it all figured out..
Da_G can swing by and scoop me up ( San Diego )
then we can mozey on down and get Acid.
ROADDDD TRIPPPPP!
Vegas has a few interesting attractions and is always ready for a party / meet up
Vegas should be the main hub for the west coast. New York for the east, London for Western Europe, and some other city for Eastern Europe. Then we all conference live, but time zones will be a problem so why not have both conference separately, and we have them both recorded to see what was going on at the XDA meet ups.
Of course all XDA members can watch from each live stream.
We just have to plan this right. And get enough people.
We can always add cities too, if there are enough members in a city. And have more hubs, that can conference with the main hubs.

G'day
I'm David, and have been a member of XDA since 2006, back when Windows Mobile 5 ruled the forums, and Android hadn't even been thought about.
I currently work in IT Support at a University in Australia. Previously I was a project engineer with a defence contractor. I worked in avionics/electronics, and doing the company IT on the side. I have a B/Eng in IT, and am also qualified to work on aircraft avionics, though I haven't done that for a long time!
I'm obviously Scottish , but moved to Australia in 2001 when I was 21.
I was a BIG fan of the early O2 devices (O2 XDA II, XDA IIs etc), then progressed to HTC WM devices. I even made a few ROMs for the HTC Touch Diamond, which were quite popular
Then when Android was ported to the HD2, I gave it a try, and instantly moved across and never looked back!
I joined the XDA moderator team in 2010, and progressed my way up to Assistant Admin to @MikeChannon (he's not as bad as people say )
The mod team are a great bunch! Keep an eye out for our recruitment notices that go out every now and again
If you need help with anything forum related, please feel free to contact me directly. I can help with name changes, passwords, forum or account issues, pretty much anything

I hope they aren't affected by the severe, extreme flooding that is supposed to occur in the greater Sydney area. Fingers crossed!

So what’s a Cobber?
In the Yiddish dialect of Hebrew, a cobber is a friend, comrade or good companion. In old Australian slang, a cobber is a good buddy, a pal (‘ga day, cobber!) And in Britain a cobber is someone to take a liking to.

My translator (https://www.dict.cc/) just says it's Australian slang for buddy or mate. In German we call it "Kumpel".
Haha yea, it's Aussie slang for friend or mate
And I met and married an Aussie, and moved to Australia when I was 21.

Welcome to XDA fellow Kansas Citian, although I'm in the "913." Lots of great folks here, and hope you enjoy your stay.
New to Android tweaks, but not new to computing. I live on 5 acres in southern Idaho, have way too many cars and want to expand my horizons.
Just bought a Samsung A53 and am enjoying the upgrade from a Samsung S7. Yeah, I used it for 7 years. I guess in phone land that's a really long time, but it worked great for me, so I stuck with it. Now I don't know what to do with it's dead carcass.
Anyway, happy to be here and am looking forward to learning something new.
Thank you everyone,
Michael
