I´m using android phones since 2010, the first Android Version i started with was 1.6 Donut, and i´ve always had a custom rom running on all my phones, because i was missing features, performance sucked, etc ...
Now i think it´s time for a change ! Oxygen 9.5.4. really fits my needs, i don´t miss anything important, only a root based/magisk adblocker i used on omni (but i don´t wan´t to unlock the bootloader this time because widevine L1 would be gone )
I´ll change to the beta programm when it´s available to get early access to Android Q , but that´s it, no more custom ROMS for me this time .
Most things are achievable without root nowadays (Pixel Launcher with bridge, Youtube Vanced , etc) and i´m tired of daily /weekly flashing of custom ROMS and dealing with their bugs and not yet implemented functions ...
So, what is your opinion on that? Will you keep Oxygen or switch to your favourite custom ROM ? (When it´s available)
Think i might keep mine rooted+stock+substratum... But the stock android looks very good atm with LS customizations and a few other customizations + i like the pixel launcher where the searchbar gets these cool animations of what the google webpage has...

I will keep oxygen os I have the T-Mobile version of this phone but will switch to global oxygen os and flash the nolimits magisk rom
I'm looking forward to Renovate ICE rom. It's stock Oxygen OS but with a load of useful customisations and cosmetic theming options.
Yes you lose Widevine L1 but you get the best of OOS that you can't get on source built custom ROMS. It's a nice balance for me
The good thing about a bootloader unlocked device is choice.. can flash custom ROM anytime we want and change back to stock anytime also.. I'm actually quite ok with Oxygen OS as it is but can't help flashing custom ROMs when I see a good one up.. with OnePlus we have a choice but more and more manufacturers are making it very difficult for us to have that choice.. I've dumped S 10+ for that very reason and sticking with OnePlus stock for now
I'm going to keep a rooted stock rom, but will flash the global rom for faster updates once I get this bootloader unlocked.
That will all depend on whether we get fully functional FP reader for me. If we do then I think the phone will rock with a good custom rom in it.

That's why you should feed back testing info to the devs so they can fix them. They're not a massive corporation and they ain't getting paid to compile these roms.
Stock/root/substratum for a while I think. This is my first OnePlus device, want to play thoroughly first.

good point, as i remember there were some problems with some oneplus devices and FP reader !
i used omni rom on my oneplus 5t before and really loved it, but it took a lot of weekly builds until everything was implemented and working fine ... but then it was my favourite ROM
but for now i really will try to keep stock Oxy , i really like it and i´m tired of flashing and waiting for features ...
by the way, Arnova´s newest GCAM works fine on stock Oxy ... https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog414/
Once we see a Pixel Experience rom I'll be switching for sure.
I'm definitely keeping my phone stock. Once I'm able to unlock the bootloader, then I'm going to the Global version. With the 6T, custom ROMS was having issues with the fingerprint scanner until about two months ago.
I was a flashoholic from the Droid X all the way to the Nexus 6P days but since getting the OnePlus 5 and then the 6, they were the only phones I never felt the need to flash a custom Rom. I won't be likely work this either. I unlock, TWRP, custom kernel and root the instant I get my phones but that's all I need anymore. OOS is more than fine
OxygenOS is great I have stayed on OxygenOS since oneplus 3
I will eventually flash a custom ROM ??
Im also surprised of how well OxygenOS is working and fits needs. Nevertheless I will try and use custom Roms. Just hope they run on 90 hz and the scanner works and also the selfie cam, otherwise I will stick to OOS.
One more who stays on OOS here, mainly because of immersive gestures support (even android Q still has his ugly navbar). But I rooted it on the second day, second because thought having L1 is kinda nice, but after discovering that even with L1 NETFLIX only outputs 720p I decided to unlock, magisk it and install adaway.
Waiting for pixel experience
I had a lot of problems caused by root on my current SGS9+
- not working Google Pay (had to do weird things to get it working)
- some banking apps displaying root warning and won't work or won't let me login by fingerprint
- lost some of the best Samsung features: Secure Folder for example
All I wanted root for was to remove bloatware...since OnePlus don't have much bloatware I only need AdBlock...for adblock I found 2 nice methods:
- https://blokada.org/
For YouTube ads we have Vanced thing and I love it so...overall I don't think I will root my next device (which will be OP7Pro in a few days )
I will most likely keep OOS as well, it's been good to me and the first time I have ever remained on stock was starting with my 6T.
I just wish substratum overlays would show without having to reboot. Other than that, I have no issues with stock.
staying with oxygen as usual; it's very nice
Hi Everyone,
After 3 years of everyday use I'm decided to bring new life to my Mi9 before I change him at new one.
I know a bit about modding at nooby level. A long long time ago I freaking out about custom ROMs (started from LG GT540, LWW, HTC M7 etc.). But from 3-4 years, since I bought a Mi9 and decided to stop, because MIUI (EU) was a perfect UI (at this time) for me and OTA's successfully keept me by the Stock.
But the time begins - OTA's go away, because Mi9 it's too old for Xiaomi and I want to flash a custom. Latest OTA with Android 11 doesn't arrive at all (yeah, I tried to change regions - I'm from Poland, but without results).
At this time I want a clean AOSP ROM. If there is based on stock kernel would be great, because I want maintenance-free and bug-free as much as possible can it be (good battery optimization will be wellcome).
What you guys think? I know, it's a lot of customs for this model, but I wan't flash it once, and don't care about anything anymore.
I reading about this ROM https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-unofficial-2021-03-07-by-lamjiidii1.4224555/, what do you think? Maybe you guys have a better one?
Thanks in advance.
Any suggestions on android 12 roms?
I don't think there is a ROM which is 100% perfect to be honest.
It depends on your hardware too. Some users can't use Pixon Kernel because Wifi is broken for example. Others have no issues at all.
Maybe CrDroid 7 (Android 11) is worth a try as a starting point.
Don't use the outdated unofficial pixel experience.

Greetings.
I just got my Redmi Note 11 and want to flash a custom ROM on it. This is my first time flashing a custom ROM.
My main requirement in custom ROMs is to keeping the stock Pixel experience, stability, stable update frequency, though a large range of customisability features would never hurt.
After some research I think I stopped on two options: Pixel Experience and Evolution X. I would like to read your opinions and preferences between these two ROMs. What differences do they have in the following topics?:
Stability
Customisability (especially PE+ vs EvoX)
Performance
Also, Pixel Experience is supposed to give us features that are present on Pixel phones, so what Pixel features does it have that Evolution X doesn't?
P.S. Sorry for my English.
If you're gonna unlock the bootloader and flash a custom recovery anyway, you should probably check both ROMs out. You can create a backup of the first one you've installed and can always recover it if you don't like the other ROM.

Thanks for your opinion. I think I'll flash Pixel Experience (Normal edition) and if I notice any problems or lack of features that Evolution X has I'll migrate to Evolution X. But still I'd like to hear everyone's opinion.
Evo X
Pros:
- More customization options (See Evo X ROM for RN11 reviews on YT for more info)
Cons:
- Allegedly reported that head dev of the ROM (Hoey) adds bugs each update (A redditor pointed this out to me)
- OTA updates may not work properly if flashed via TWRP, not sure if you can get updates to work if flashed via other recoveries
Pixel Exp
Pros:
- Ability to hide navbar
- OTA works perfectly (If flashed via Pixel Exp recovery and not TWRP)
- Some features ported from MIUI ROM
Cons:
- Less customization options
note: everything is based on what I know, haven't flashed either ROM as I am still waiting for the 1 week wait time to end to unlock. I do prefer PE over Evo X
What Schumuppes pointed out is the most viable way, for you to decide for which ROM you prefer and suits you better

Thank you. I'm also waiting to unlock the bootloader. For now I'm mostly worried about the update frequency. As both Evolution X and Pixel Experience ROMs are maintained by volunteers I'm afraid that updates may be late. Don't get me wrong, I don't blame them and both of the maintainers seem to do their job well but this feeling doesn't leave me.
What about other differences other than more customisation options in the settings? Like I know that Evolution X uses a modded version of Pixel Launcher and Camera Go as the camera while Pixel Experience uses Basic Camera. Any other differences?
Pixel exp is more stable. Evo ex have more features but also more bugs, in my experience both of them have some issue like frames drop in almost all social apps etc…. For now, I'm back in MIUI because it's the most stable for me. But try for yourself, maybe you have a different experience.

Thanks again for the reply. It's funny how depending on who do I ask I get different replies. Someone says Pixel Experience is more stable, another one says the opposite.
What do you think about PixelPlusUI? Because another one said most games are laggy on Evolution X.

evo x rom is a mystery box, it nails some function but lags in others. basic function such as calling ( forget vowifi and video calling , just normal calling) don't work well. After every update some weird bugs come up which are simply annoying. BB is decent and won't expect more than that (though i've experienced better in crdroid ig).
here's my suggestion:
for 4/64 variant : don't install any custom rom for now as they are just coming up rn, if you want you can try those roms without gapps. i hope with time roms will become more stable and suitable for your usage.
for 6/128 variant : sky is the limit, use any roms according for your preference. crdroid is more stable and with lesser bugs in every update. evo x is more pixel like, overall works well except the issues mentioned above. pixel experience: stock experience w/ some miui goodies.
btw i am on latest version of evox rom. hope this helps.
cheers!

First, u need to download fastboot build version for your phone from this site, Site Link
then just install Mi flash tool Mi tool Link here, a video explaining how to use it Link
note : when flashing there 3 option
1- clean all -
2- save user data
3- clean and lock
I will advise u to not chose the last one because it will lock bootloader and then u will have to do all unlocking steps again, so the best option to use is the first 1
Thank you. One last question please
Are all Redmi Note 9s curtana? Cos I feel my ROM is EvoX miatoll

For 9s is curtana, miatoll is like a name that contain different version of the phone like pro version goes by the name of
joyeuse pro max also have different name in all this version come under the name of miatoll, so yeah for note 9s is curtana.
Here, a post I found for more detail link
Hello i tried both of them on my SPESN and for me PE is way more stable, even if a lot of bugs and lags still present i’m pretty sure that will be resolved in futures updates
HI all, what do y'all think is the most stable and least problematic among all the custom ROMs for SPES? I'd like to know 'coz I'm tired of backing up my files and switching to other ROMs when there's something wrong with my current ROM, thanks!
In my case it is Evolution X (both Android 12 and Android 13) for a simple reason:
It is one of the few ROMs that has solved a bug with the Goodix fingerprint readers, which is that it does not let the screen turn off correctly, since it takes the FP as a button. Well, I know that Pixel Experience also solved it but I had a bad experience with that ROM.
Used Pixel Experience for 2 months. It's smooth
Been using Evolution X for a week, my only complaints are some bugs like fingerprint not working until I unlock the phone on some instances
Planning to move to CrDroid sometime next week tho, idk I'd recommend use them all and decide what you should use

Well, then back to official MIUI I suggest. Nobody can assess what "something wrong" means to you. Rom development is an ongoing process, bugs happen. For some a (slightly) lower sot is "wrong" for others the gaming performance is "wrong". I find this kind of questions difficult since more people want just ready to use roms without the more or less hassle that may come with software in development from and for the community and developed by learning hobby developers, enthusiasts or semi professionals or as often seen tech students. This is not how this all here works. I'm using pa sapphire beta for weeks now, which definitely has its pros and cons (for example). But I'm cool with it since it's stable in case of random reboots and its overall performance (nearly no sudden performance drops in general usage). Where for others the small hiccups it has are unacceptable I'm clearly happy with it (until another interesting rom or update comes up ). Long story short, it depends on what "something wrong" means individually since there are several stable and 'well performing' projects out there. Cheers
Till now the most stable rom is undoubtedly crDroid 8.8 or 8.9 Android 12... You should give a try

I actually was on cdDroid since 8.7 but then 8.9 has the goodix bug, which made the phone incredibly annoying to use, so I tried Evolution X on Android 13 and its stable, for now, but I'm probably gonna get back to crDroid when the goodix bug will be fixed.

Too bad,
I'm using crDroid 8.9 (Android 12) right now and I would say it's far the most stable ROM i have used on this phone
I tried all of them from XDA and out of XDA, from the lot of available ROMs, the simpler, less customizable seems to run smoother than all the rest, PixelOS v13 takes the credit. I personally prefer something more customizable, and the better for that is AncientOS-Shield, of course, it could have its cons, as the battery consumption within other things, so, finally, you'll find that you should give it a try in your own, the experience from others also can help you, to decide, not to use it, but to try it (or not)

Hello there, i am using redmi note 9/10x 4g currently on miui 13 Android 12 and I wanted to install a custom rom in it.. so anyone could please give me a full guide on start to end.. i have already unlocked my bootloader and k want to install a custom recovery and after that a custom rom.. so please someone give me a full guide for this miui version..
Thanks in advance..
First of all, it depends on what ROM you would like to use. I use Project Elixir which is based on Pixel Experience. The maintainer is no longer active so you rely on yourself. The newest 3.4 version requires MIUI 12.5.4 Global (or EEA if you end up with a soft brick) as it's based on the R vendor rather than the S vendor. You can find all other information either on the GitHub or Telegram group. (Yes, feels weird to use Telegram) Here's the quick guide https://github.com/ProjectElixir-Devices/Wiki/blob/tiramisu/merlinx.md
Redmi Note 9 has a codename merlinx in this case as there's already a Motorola phone with a codename merlin and many people were fooled and got their phones hard bricked. Since this is a MediaTek chipset, you don't have any A/B partitions. If you don't follow the guide or flash the required firmware, you will end up with a beautiful error, maybe even a permanent one. The easiest way for me to flash the ROM from the crdroid recovery was the ADB Sideload method as my SD Card wasn't picked up by the recovery. Make sure you have a reliable USB connection that won't get interrupted during the update. You may find a lot of missing stuff and glitches in the ROM like purple battery indicator when in landscape mode, random freezes, a stock battery widget is broken (Android 13 build issue in general) and so more. There's no custom battery indicator when charging on a full shutdown. You will have a default MIUI one.
