Hello,
I just got a new 10S global version with MIUI 12.5.16.0.RKLMIXM and the preview cam (before you actually take the picture) is really blurry but the resulting photo would be fine. this becomes a problem with taking pictures from other apps like instagram.
NOTE: The preview gets better when you turn on the front screen flash

After installing the EMUI 9 update when I zoom, especially at 10x, the photos taken are not what they appear on the screen before taking them. Instead, the photo taken is something that is lower down to what I was trying to take a photo of. For example, if I try to take a picture of the B key on my laptop it takes a picture of the space bar.
Furthermore, whilst this hasn't only been occurring after the EMUI 9 update, very small artefacts that stay in the same position are present at high zoom, especially 10x zoom (they are invisible at no zoom and only become slightly visible at 5x zoom), when the camera focuses on an object. They appear like small white dots (visible when you zoom in on something that is black in colour as the white dots become more visible). However, they don't appear when taking the photo due to post-processing smoothing the photo out. They are not present though when taking pictures in the pitch black so surely they are not dead pixels? You can though see it on video at 10x zoom. The lens is clean. Is this normal?
Any help is much appreciated,
Thank you.
I've investigated the problem further regarding the first issue and I believe it must be something to do with the telephoto lens not always functioning, which happened straight after updating to EMUI 9, therefore, only the main sensor takes the picture, hence why the final photo appears further down than the preview photo. Also, if I take a photo and then look at it in the gallery and then go back to the camera, the preview image is shifted and the image quality is worse, which would make sense if the telephoto lens is not working when zooming. However, it does seem to work sometimes.
Can someone else test this as it must be a software issue.
I'm on EMUI 9.0.0.168
Thank you.
Telephoto lens preview and capturing will only works when the phone decide that the light is sufficient enough. Else it will use interpolated image captured from main sensor.
This been discussed in other threads as well
Hi, I've got a big problem.
One day I tried to take photo and I noticed that my cameras options are changed.
I've got all options from front camera using rear camera and vice versa.
I tried factory reset, hard reset, software change (global, global dev, china stable, xiaomi.eu) and nothing... Still same, but on china rom photos were taken. On other roms picture taken by front camera (with rear camera options - zoom x1) are like that:
I can't paste link here But its a lot of colorfull lines
I remember that they before that I taked photos in manual mode (Pro mode) and switched lens to tele ( I tried to make macro picture) - it was my last normall picture. Now I can only take pictures in normal mode using 2x zoom using front camera or back camera (which is always like 2x zoom)...
I also tried tap kernel info few times to make diagnostic but when I click rear or front camera option there is an error: "cameralist not match". When I change into Portrait mode in rear camera I've got "Can't connect to the camera" error.
I really don't know what I should do with that, maybe try to change a kernel or something ?
My Mi8 is a global version 6/64
I can't find anybody with problem like this

I never saw such a bad quality on P20 Pro. If you really want to take 40mpx photos, you should use Pro mode anyway, and change the focus area to wide to capture a detailed photo, otherwise by default(in any mode) the focus point is in the center, looking for a person/object. But even with default it should be a lot more clear. Be sure to update your phone using HiSuite for PC and reset the camera app. Best pictures are at 10mpx because it captures more light and they are downsampled from 40mpx. Also,at 40mpx it only uses the 40mpx RGB camera. Use photo mode for normal pictures, night mode for low light if you don't enable master AI,and Pro mode for more control. Be sure to understand all the settings, especially focus modes. Your picture was in a low light environment, you should have sticked to 10mpx,or Pro mode(but at 40mpx some settings are not there because like I said,it does not use all the cameras)

HiSuite say im using newest official update clt-l29 9.0.0236 (C432E5R1P9)(official version)
i made hard reset and roll back to 8.0 and didint help , also cleared cache/app date
can someone put photo from p20 pro in similar conditions ?
The 40MPix mode is amazing if you want to a) capture most of details and b) if you want to play with photo in Snapseed or PSe for example. I use is because it doesn't do HDR, that CAN be too aggressive when 10mpix is enabled. Can you share this photo somewhere else, because zippy share is overflow with advertisment.
Jpeg from raw
For example - jpeg made from raw in pro mode, edited in lightroom mobile.
EDIT: ooops, xda scrambled quality...
Btw I do not see a problem in your photo. If you zoom 100% of course, the photo will not be sharp nor pleasant to see, but 40MPixs can surely be printed for example on A2 and look gorgeous (in fact, everything >12MPix will). The point is, you took picture against the sun, that means it had to deal with huge amount of direct sunlight, that's probably the reason the grass and mud is so... well... not sharp. It's partly simple optics and party too agressive postprocessing.
I am just sharing this Gcam MOD. All credits to the original developer of the MOD.

I agree. I took this one with 8s 1600ISO on the regular camera lens and this was easier to get than a gcam version. Also with manual controls a lot is possible.

I m on havoc os 2.8 pie . About the exif , do I have to upload the original picture? Because this one is from google photo s unlimited backup , so it's resized . I also noticed that , as said in a previous post , gcam can only expose the sensor for 10 seconds in night sight mode , instead of 32 with the original xiaomi s app , so maybe this one could be actually better
Face Retouching (Skin smoothing) not working in Portrait mode.
Please suggest some settings without losing Portrait mode..
Some new versions from The_Dise :
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/a...e_dise/#apk881
As from V3.3 it is not exclusively Android 10 but now also supports Android 9 Pie !
Testing V3.4 now.
Portrait mode on the back camera won't work for me. It just considers them burst shots. It doesn't even attempt to process the photo to add blur.
Force close on Havoc OS 3.0
Does someone have facing problems trying to use this GCAM, it opens and force close.

The_Dise v3.11 is out meanwhile:
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-the_dise/#apk1308
Is this the_dise official thread? Could be there a front flash light mode?
Anyone know why in astrophotography with an exposure of 30 sec activated on settings , the phones countdown from 6 minutes and 30 seconds and then crash about a minute after? While waiting everything looks to work as expected
A request to those who have updated to 12.1, check the optical stabilization. In the camera application, in photo mode, on the main module, with micro movements, the picture should be static. Or through instagram, telegrams, etc. Stabilization should also work there.
(I just can’t understand either a mechanical failure, or OIS disappeared after the update)
Same here. OIS only works on video mode, not in photo mode.
The preview is shakey but the picture seems focused nicely. So i dont see any issue here.

It is more difficult to take a night photo without a tripod. Or a long exposure photo.

^ this summarize OPPO hahaha
the preview while your taking the photo is sh*t like it's not focusing(it keep saying go further or go near the target) , not colorful enough and somewhat pixelated but after taking it and OPPO applied AI correction and HDR it would turn out really beautiful
usually i just ignore warning like go near or further the target since it would still take the photo anyway

I dont get any warnings like you do. In addition preview is shakey when you shake your phone, but when you click shutter button the picture is cristal clear and sharp in my case
If you dial *#899# then go to manual test - camera, you can see how the stabilization should work in the photo.
It's not a bug, it's a feature
Hope it comes back in the next update.
