LHC Large Hadron Collider

is this the end.. they are gonna test it mid october.. this is crazy

I sure am a bit worried with this crap! I slowly see the entire world going downhill with everything happening. Then along comes a virtual black hole, these scientist are complete morons, and this machine needs to be destroyed! I don't see any point, or any good to come of it.

I think we should just go ahead and do it.
We either discover something, discover nothing, or get sucked into a black hole and we don't have to worry about life.
Its really, truly a win-win-doesn't matter situation. And I'm NOT being sarcastic. this is how i really feel.
The worst that it can do is destroy the planet, and then we won't have to worry about poverty, global warming, anything!

are u crazy i love my life ai bet thechampjt feels the same way.. all because u dnt like it.. alot of other ppl disagree. this might be the revelation.. so i would jus keep my gaurd up

look into what it really do and what the REAL risks are
fear of the unknown the man's oldes fear and in most cases is just that

Fact of the matter is there are more energetic collisions on a DAILY basis in our own atmosphere and has the Earth been destroyed? no.
People read up on what the LHC actually does before backing up hearsay about black holes etc...
And also look up Hawking Radiation you be surprised what the result would be even if a microscopic black hole was created

LOL ! The Portal pic was hilarious! I guess i personally put too much thought in it, but as far as the daily occurences that compare, are affects from the sun. The biggest thing that makes me wonder, is what is the purpose, does anyone know?

As mentioned ealier, either we all die (unlikely) or science makes a huge step forward. I live without believing it will happen. If it does, no one will be there to cry, so I don't really fear anything.

to put it in perspective, imagine a big explosion. All the matter gets shot outwards. but according to the "every action has an equal and opposite reaction" theory, there must be the same amount of energy going inwards too. They're trying to find where that energy is going and what it is basically.

Ahhhhhhh you ! I thought you knew what you were talking about, until I saw the Google comment.

They are doing fundamental research into why the universe is as it is today, so that they can have a good understanding of how it works. With this understanding they should be able to do things which seems unimaginable now.
To bring it home to a practical example relevant to XDA - before TouchFlo3D was understood we could only change the pictures and modify the skins, which was nice, but once TouchFLo3D was fully understood we could make out own tabs which is obviously much more useful.
Imagine now we can generate electricity using nuclear fission, but with a full understanding of particle physics was can stick a Mr Fusion in our cars

Probably read about it in The Sun (no pun intended, its a UK tabliod) which has the front page headline of something like will the world end today, when in fact nothing will even happen until october.
And very good thought about hawking radiation, I didn't know that, but just sort of accepted that micro black holes just disappeared (silly me to just accept something)

What's the difference between General and Q&A?

i would imagine one is for general Nexus One information (touchscreen issues, USB Driver info)
while this one is for Q&A - where do i plug it in to charge it, can i use a stylus, can i root it, things of the like.

Don't know if you're just trolling but there are separate sections and a search function for a reason: so that people aren't asking the same questions ( that have already been answered) over and over again.
The other reason is that clear categories/sub-forums help you find the correct information faster.
I like the new layout because if I want to know about apps/themes, there's a forum.
If you're too stupid to figure out the different between Q&A, Development, Accessories, Theme/Apps, and General Questions, should you really be on a modding/hacking forum?

Agree, it mainly prevents a lot of redundent information and can assist in narrowing the info down to a sub-forum.

Lol. I was literally thinking the same thing when I reread my post. Ive been pretty disapointed with my phone as of late. Pretty much the only news about nexus recently has been bad news (ie "the ram sucks the signal sucks the screen sucks the image quality sucks") its a real drag. but Ill try to care less

I found these on the internet looking around and didn't have a clue at what they meant. I do now but it took alot of reading, Anyone else know what they mean from school or your job? Also what would they make if you put them "together"?

The third one (B avg)...is that an equation for the rate of change of the area of a figure (like a cube or something)?
I don't know...whoever even discovered these equations are insane.

Ha yes they are, and im not sure i just know it has to do with a magnetic field.

The first one is an angle. μ0, Ι, s are variables and π = 3.14
In the second one, he/she replaces the angle φ with with a type.
The third one is the resolution of the integral of Βavg. Oblviously I don't know what Bavg is, but probably the answer is where you found them.
And in the fourth one he/she replaces the previous equations to find the final type.
In order to understand these equations you have to know their physical meaning which must be in the description of the problem.
In Greece actually we learn integrals in highschool. :-/

Perhaps the 1-5 million users who installed MoDaCo's Camera Launcher for Nexus 7?
And the 500,000-1 million who installed gabenative's Nexus 7 Camera Starter?
I am really curious as to who would rather not have the ability to use the camera on a tablet when the need arises and fails to understand why others would want to be able to...

Third party apps I said was apps like 'CameraZoomFX', 'Igcamera' and others.

You can't even take pictures with it. I mean, the button is on the screen, you can't see what you are shooting. Unless you take duckface photos of yourself all day, I find it to be absolutely pointless.

Profile pics, self pics, I also use it for a mirror in a pinch. ........Sometimes, you need to be a little more creative. There are tons of reasons. The op is posting this for those wanting the ability to use the camera. If you want to comment on whether the app has a problem, then thats constructive. If your just commenting because you dont see the purpose in the app, then it is not constructive.

People take pictures with crap cameras, I take many pics with my girlfriend ETC... Have over 400 taken on this crap camera. You don't find it useful that's fine, no need to state it over and over.
