Question Night mode on video - Vivo X90 Pro Plus

I just received my x90 pro plus, and i playin with the cameras but i can't find something that i saw review in the x80 pro and i assume that this X90 Pro Plus got it too.
That is night mode durin video, i see nigh mode but only for photos, and i don't see anmy icon of night mode while i am at the video option.
It activates by his own, there is a setting maybe, or this x90 pro plus doesn't have it?
Thanks

You need to go to settings in video and turn on smart notification for video, then when you are in video mode and the camera detects it is dark (put your hand over the lens) it will give you an icon to the left of the shutter button of a moon and star, tap that and it will go into night mode, it doesn't work in 4K 60, works in 4K 30

Thanks, that's it, got another question if you don't mind. I can't make it work notification on the lock screen with or without password. I mean show basic icon or details, I had to unlock the phone. Just try several settings but not luck.
I add a photo if it is some use to you.

[updated]Found a way to use tap to focus while recording in 720P 20mbit!

Just wanted to let you guys know that I managed to get 720P 20mbit smooth day/night fps stays 30 while using the lgCamera app from PlayStore!
The best part is you can tap to focus!
My videos are amazing with this focus feature, I know it's not continues focus but it still beats the normal camcorder by a lot.
1920:1080 < 1280:720 with tap to focus feature
Download from here (it includes the latest Pro and standard versions provided by the developer himself)
Things you should setup on first run, open up lgCamera, switch to video mode with the upper right icon, press the menu button on the phone and setup these things:
1.White balance: AUTO
2.Effect: NONE
3.Scene mode: AUTO (If you change this to ACTION mode, after recording when you press STOP the lgCamcorder will freeze/crash, so just keep default AUTO the fps doesn't drop in low light while recording anyway)
4.ISO: AUTO
5.Exposure compensation: 0
6.Anti banding: 50
7.Focus mode: AUTO
8.Video resolution: 1280:720 (Every time you try to change this, the lgCamcorder app will crash, even if the resolution is supported, just leave it 1280:720 as it is default)
9.Video encoder: H.264
10.Video file format: MPEG4
11.Video bitrate: 20Mbit (this is a HIGH bitrate and depends on which class of SD card are you using, I've tested with class 10, so if you are facing problems try with lower bitrate)
12.Video framerate: 30
13.Scroll down to "Other settings", open it, find the option "Folder to save photo and video" and navigate it to "mnt/sdcard/external_sd/any_folder_you_want"
That's it for setting up part. Exit the lgCamcorder app.
Now every time you want to record a video, just open lgCamera, switch to video mode with upper right icon, start recording, tap whenever you want to focus, that's it. IF YOU DON'T DO IT THIS WAY THE RECORDING WILL JUST FREEZE/CRASH.
Here's the sample(not the best one low light, my videos on day light are awesome it's just my internet connection preventing me to upload more videos): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2dAaRhnKxo
Is this the stock LG Camcorder or some application?
I use stock LG camcorder in Parandroid CM10, and I cannot set bitrate.

LG Camcorder is a bit buggy especially if you downloaded the apk from somewhere else than the PlayStore, so go ahead and download it via PlayStore, install it, open up the Camcorder, set the Scene to Action, set the bitrate to 20, exit LGCamcorder... wait a bit.
Open it up again, switch to LGCamera by pressing the upper right button so your in picture taking mode, tap to focus, switch to video taking mode by tapping the upper right button again, try to record, it should record without a problem, try and tap to focus it should work perfectly and you should see sharp video!
Every time you wanna record again just go open up LGCamcorder, swith to picture taking mode, tap to focus, switch back to video taking mode with that upper right button then record and tap to focus when you want to focus!
That's it basically! I might upload a video to show you how good focus is in videos, imo amazing!
EDIT: You have to use this combination so the recording will work, I mentioned that the LGCamcorder is buggy, that's the only way I found that it doesn't fail.
EDIT2: Here's the sample: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2dAaRhnKxo

I tried it but it simply does not want to focus while I'm shooting video. After I I focus on picture mode and start recording, the focus stays like macro and when I tap it remains the same. Do I need to be rooted or have a custom rom? I still have Android 2.3.4. Official. I really need to have touch to focus, because let's say I want to make a review of a tablet. I need to focus at it a bit far away and then focus macro at the buttons and at the screen. It doesnt even let me focus when it is paused :S. Thanks in advance.

LGCamera look nice with many features but... That one crashes or freeze the phone all the times.
Tested on DM ICS, Kowalski CM10 and latest CM10.1
With ICS v30b official firmware, I can select the type of focus with lgCamera (auto, infinity, fixed and continuous) but I can't get more than 15fps in the recording because the app seems to ignore the FPS setting.
Here is how i got mine to work on tonyp's latest paranoid android v10.
Installed lgcamera
Opened the app
Switched to recording mode
Closed the app with back button
Went to settings/apps then chose lgcamera, clean data and force stop
Then opened up lgcamera switched to video recording mode, went to other settings(debug, flash) and turned off Run on camera button pressed and Set screen brightness to maximum.
Trust me, this is the only way to make it work, i had been fiddling with this **** for hours, now i got my autofocus finally
Didnt work :/

Hi, I tried a lot of methods and when I go into to LGCamera and press back, it doesnt let me force stop. When I start recording, It focuses once and doesnt let you focus anymore. I really need to know how to touch to focus while video. Running stock Gingerbread
I have no idea, im on tonyp's pa as i stated above.
for you guys who are facing problems
First post is a little bit outdated and confusing, sorry about that I should edit it.
Just to be safe, uninstall and reinstall lgCamera from scratch.

Really want to try this, but I can't get lgCamera installed. Anyone who can share the apk? Thanks

I did exactly what you said, I don't have Anti-banding feature though. Its 720p but still no touch to focus :/ Samsung Galaxy SII is the mobile I have
I'm not exactly sure about Galaxy S2,
but from what I have been reading S2 already has continuous auto-focus, why would you want touch to focus anyway?
Can't get "tap to focus" to work either. Seems to automatically focus and won't focus on touching while recording.
Is there a way to record 1080p with lgcamera ?
It always make my Optimus 2X crash, what settings are you using if you found a way to do so ?

Same here.
The only difference for my paid lgCamera is : It always crash my phone when I use it as camcorder and at any resolution/bitrate.
GREAT APP! now i can tap wherever my subject is
:victory::fingers-crossed: just tested on my su660 with miui 3.4.5
Sweet!!! Thanks, I've been half-assed searching for this apk for a couple days now.. Much thanks for the link!!

Glad you like it guys. :cyclops:

What app to capture RAW pictures?

What app do you all use to capture RAW files from the camera? I thought you would be able to do so in Pro mode but that doesn't appear to be the case.
Put it in pro mode and click the gear icon for settings. It's in there. Must be in pro mode to turn it on though.
Yeah Raw images option only comes when the mode is Pro, go to settings there you can activate it!
Now just need a way to make it default to Pro Mode. Double tapping the home button to get the camera from the lock screen is pointless if I have to go thru menus to switch to Pro Mode

To be fair, if you are trying to capture something very quickly, you probably are better off using the normal mode and snap a picture. I find myself only using Pro Mode when I want to just take some time and get everything just right for the scene like landscapes and macro shots.
I dont need the pro mode features, just the RAW capture so I can do full manual tweaking later. I am a heavy photoshop user/tweaker, but not a camera expert, so I generally dont bother with most of the settings on the phone itself (I have though, since the Note 5 isnt the best at deciding how to handle very dark situations)

HDR Problem

So coming from a photographer-background i feel that the camera on the P30 Pro is a bit heavy on the HDR. Meaning that it doesn't recreate blacks very well, and in some shot's where shadows would be better left natural, it gives it too much HDR. (Sorry the bad English)
Is there a way to adjust/turn off HDR on this camera?
I believe if you turn off the AI and shoot in auto it shouldn't apply any HDR - but I don't know this to be true.
It's somewhat difficult to get away from the HDR look since when you shoot in Auto mode at 10mpix it utilizes pixelbinning which will kinda look like HDR where highlights are pulled down and shadows are lifted. The only way to get around this is to use a third party camera application or to shoot RAW, and i do recommend you shoot RAW anyways to get away from the heavy overprocessing, noisereduction and sharpening.

Use pro mode.
Thanks for the reply guys. But I don't have the time to shoot pro and RAW all the time when it comes to smartphone-photos. The phone is for taking quick shots for Instagram-stories and such.
If I want to get a proper shot I pull out my Nikon D800. But there should be an option to adjust the level of HDR in photo mode, turning off "AI" doesn't change much, sadly.

Use pro mode without changing any setting you will be fine.
Just surfing comparisons online and this video shows it goes both ways. Sometimes the P30 Pro pulls out the shadow detail, other times the 6T does:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wevRTMspBIM
This is also bothering me, I turned off the AI on my previous P20 Pro, and this wasn't a problem. But now on the P30 Pro, even if I turn off the AI sometimes photos come out as horribly overprocessed to the extent that the photos can't even be fixed by post processing. The effect is very similar to heavy HDR (or glike going overboard with the Google Photos' Pop effect)

No burst and time-lapse photo mode?

Why is there no burst or time-lapse photo mode?
Time-lapse workaround: The app Intervalometer hijacks the stock camera app and simulates touching the shutter buttons, so you get a programmable time-lapse in all modes, Raw, Night-mode, all the 3 cameras. Probably better than Huawei could ever make it.
As for burst mode: its there if you set the resolution to 10MP or lower, no burst mode for 40MP or with raw files.
Time lapse mode can be found on the last page of the camera options where slow motion , monochrome , moving picture is. To take pictures in burst mode you just press the camera button and it will take pictures in burst mode untill you release it.

No that's a crappy low-res time-lapse video, I'm talking about photos.
Found the burst mode though it has its limitations, that aren't mentioned (how should the user know). They only work in Photo Mode and only if you set the resolution to 10MP or less.

Go in play store, ans download Framelaps application. It is very good. You have so much options. It is taking photos and you can make 4K video, not 720p like in original camera application. Too bad for Huawei that's is not so hard to do.
Only bad thing with Framelaps you cant you Suoer Wide Angle.
Probably can't do a lot of things, like the correct colors for the new sensor. And yes, kind of want that for the ultra wide.

Yes I know but it helps more the p30 pro software camera (stupid 720p).
If you have DJI Osmo 2 you have good application for timelaps. But still no super wide-angle
Timelapse with the original camera app in high quality
Framelapse is not bad, but as mentioned, you can't use wide angle lens nor the quality of the original app. Solution:
Use "intervalometer"! This app is working together with any other camera app. It works as an overlay, means, it's running background and given impulse to the camera button with any desired interval while using the camera settings in the original camera app. You can not only use any interval with any resolution (40mp too) but choose a delay when shooting from day to night. The app costs here in Germany 1,89 €.
Grab a copy of Intervalometer from the Google Play store, then you can shoot your own timelapses with whatever camera application you want. That's what i do and it works great!
/ Magnus
With just one camera and no chance to select the other two, probably wrong colors and no raw files support, useless.
EDIT: Oh wait, this thing is actually useful, its no camera app instead it hijacks what ever is on the screen and simulates a touch in the timed intervall.
So it remote controls the manufactures app with whatever is set there.
Nice. Sorry I dismissed it so fast, I was just expecting another dumb comment but this is really useful.
Exactly, it is one of the best applications i have found on the Google Play store and for this purpose it's fantastic! you can shoot RAW timelapse sequences if you want to, the possibilities are infinite since it's not relying on it's own camera but let's you use any camera application you want. It's worth paying for it since it does such a great job with timelapse photography.
/ Magnus
Ok, the best timelaps is INTERVALOMETAR.
You can use every mode, normal, super wide angle, HDR, Night mode, zoom and etc...

[Guide] Wide angle Video Recording.

Dial *#*#1597#*#* on the dialer this will open the camera app. Switch to video mode, Click on the red letter on the right top Lens: Back (Dual)(0) double click on that until you get the Lens: Back (Wide)(3) . Recording works fine from there, but need to do the same every time you need the wide angle.
Thanks!! It works! You rock man!
This is actually super good alternative until Oneplus let us do it by default. Thank you.
The wide lens can only record at 1080p?
The quality in lower light is worse than default video, obviously. But great to have! Someone needs to make a shortcut or something that jumps straight into this, until OnePlus gives us the ability.
Looks like you can just double tap anywhere to switch which camera is used. Seems like this is debug mode for the Camera app. I wonder if this has been includes since 9.5.0 or recently added. Indicating OnePlus indeed started working on this feature.
