[Q] Edge connects on standby mode?

Hi all. just got my Galaxy S and its a great phone.
One of the annoying part is that whenever the phone goes to standby mode, it connects to Edge network (E is displayed on top). It seems like whenever WI-FI is not available it always connect to Edge network.
Can I set it to connect to Edge network or WI-FI only when there is explicit request from the user?

yes 2G and 3G works even when the phone is in power saving mode for the push emails and other data syncs
WiFi only works when the phone is awake
but there is a fix for that some where in ths forum

Go to your Wi-Fi settings, open up the Menu->Advanced. Set sleep policy to never. Then you'll always have your wi-fi and the phone shouldn't need EDGE for data, unless you moved too far away from the access point.

Install "JuiceDefender" it will turn off net access when screen is off

[Q] Cannot come to home wifi and Cannot recieve calls

Hello guys,
Just got a Htc Nexus one running 2.2 from the U.S. Its currently on stock and un-rooted. Based in India Carrier:Vodafone
Issues:
1.I can make calls but CANNOT recieve them! When some 1 dials out to me, it says im busy and stuff and disconnects
2.I CANNOT connect to my home wifi, but can connect to others!
I have tried endless reboots, set wifi policy to never,turned off mobile data
Restarted router etc, My wifi network is fine as both my pc and ipad connect to it
I have searched to no avail.Can some 1 help asap pls?

For your wifi, you could go into wifi settings, then hit the menu key, advanced, and try changing the number of channels.
For your calls, try going into the app manager and deleting data from the Dialer app...

WiFi stops working

Hello All,
I have a T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 stock. I am in an area with hundreds of wifi SSIDs and I connect to 2 of them. I have noticed that if I walk away from wifi connectivity it it goes to back to LTE but it will no longer connect back when I am back in range of the wifi..
I look at my wifi settings and see if I can scan for any wifi networks, but i get nothing..
I have to restart the phone or put it in and out of airplane mode to get it to work again..
Any Ideas? I do use wifi calling.

Samsung Note 8 Network unavailable try again later

My new Note 8 periodically pops up this message for 2-3 seconds than disappears. But actually my phone works fine, my wifi signal is strong no problem with going online. But the message keeps popping up so irritating. Any suggestions to help fix the problem?

Could it be the reception of the mobile network for voice calls? Switching on wifi calling may prevent the pop-up...

Thank you for the reply, how do i check this? The popup stil comes up on wifi and off wifi.

Mate 20 lite no network when wi-fi calling or wi-fi connection turned off

On my Mate 20 lite phone, when I turn off the wi-fi or turn off the wi-fi call, the network is lost, I see the text "no service", when I turn on the wi-fi or wi-fi call, it comes as VoWolte, but the bars remain blank
Can anyone help or have had this problem?
