This is becoming the hardest way to root apparently -_-
I`m trying to get z4root on to my Galaxy S Captivate from Rogers (SGH-I896) running 2.2
I`ve downloaded the apk file and placed it on my desktop, when trying to copy the file to my phone I get this error message.
(I tried to post a picture here but apparently I need to post 8 times?*fail)
It says an unexpected error is preventing the operation.
Error 0x80070057: The parameter is incorrect.
clicking try again just prompts the message again.
Phone is connected in USB mass storage mode.
USB debugging is on.
It appears the app is no longer available in the market so is this the only way to get it on my phone?
I've literally tried downloading the apk 5 different times from different places and they all give the same message when I try to copy, also tried copying the file pretty much everywhere possible on the phone. any help would be greatly appreciated.
1. make sure you turn on the debugging mode;
2. connect your phone using usb cable;
3. i used one click root to root the captivate, search that one in the forums;
4. follow the instruction of that root app;
Hi everybody I`d appreciate a lot if you provide me with any sort of help. The problem is following: while I was flashing a new rom my phone went out of power. After reboot I received a continuous loop of boot screen=>install screen=>reboot. In recovery mode when I try to choose the rom`s zip file I have no options. It says "No files found". I tried to mount sdcard and as far as I can see there was no failures. However, mounting emmc results in error. Equally, I tried to connect via Odin, but it does not recognize the device. Please,help me to get at least to the flashing point.

just mount phone under USB storage and copy the ROM files to the SD card that can be read by your phone and Flash the ROM from that location in CWM . To fix USB connections problems, read this

Thank you for the quick answer. I tried to mount it under USB storage however my computer did not recognize the phone. Following your advice I started to check the connection. The main obstacle was indeed in that Odin was not able to recognize the device under Windows 8.1. After installation of Samsung USB Driver v.1.5.25.0-retail I managed to re-flash my device smoothly.

Hello, I am sorry if this post has already been made somewhere but I still can't find the answer for fixing the problem suggested in the title and I may have posted this on a wrong section earlier, very sorry
So I have a GT-S5830 Galaxy Ace and decided to install CyanogenMod 7 with CWM. The flashing of the phone was a success but I came across a bug (or problem?) of screen orienteering and I couldn't find that answer. Right after this, I then decide to restore back to stock ROM. However, I came across a problem when connecting the device (in Download Mode) to my PC; it stated Unknown USB Device (Device Failed Enumeration) in Device Manager.
Following Procedures I have done:
- USB Debugging enabled on phone
- Samsung USB Driver installed
- All drivers on PC up-to-date
I am also following a guide to restore back to ROM using Odin Multi Downloader, but it does not recognize the phone in ID:COM. The bleep on the PC can be heard but it only recognizes when the phone is in normal mode; in Download Mode it shows Unknown USB Device (Device Failed Enumeration). Please help as I am giving this phone to my sibling.
Thank you.
I'm not an expert by any means, in fact just starting out, but I think you could load the recovery kernel onto your SD card and then boot in recovery mode, select 'load from SD card' (or something similar), select the file on your SD and do it that way. Try looking at wiki . cyanogenmod . org/w/Install_CM_for_cooper (take the spaces out of this URL). You may also need the ADB, I'm not sure, but the details are in that link.
Hope this helps!
*Mine doesn't have to testpoint ( my computer auto recognize it as HS-USB QDLoader 9008), if you don't then search google for testpoint)
First make it to identify as edl mode on your computer (HS-USB QDLoader 9008)
next open the image file of the rom(extract from tgz file )
replace it with this file :" prog_emmc_firehose_Sdm660_ddr.elf " ( search google for this file)
important: only" prog_emmc_firehose_Sdm660_ddr.elf " not prog_emmc_firehose_Sdm660_lite.elf
then flash it by miflash.
if you have error then read this:
( first my computer did identify but mi flash didn't, it just show error: " cannot receive hello packet " so i try to open the back of the phone, unplug the battery connector, next plug it back and now it work. Then just flash it )
where is prog file bro ???
Is that method bring back to DELETED EFS partition (IMEI, MEID, etc.) ?

For anyone that is still looking for a solution to their bricked Note 7, the tool efazul_fayad linked works like a charm! You do have to disable your AV, I used Malwarebytes and turned off all protections except web and ransomware and it did the job!

hello guys it took me a long time to find this totirial with all the files ready to revert the damaged phone i installed all the applications that are in the video description and it works 100% the phone came with the global rom but the original phone is chinese so i had to install the rom of Chinese origin. I put the folders on drive C of the pc. I hope that you will be able to reverse the situation in this way.https://youtu.be/scP-PF5NLl0
I could not find anything similar using the search and google, so I hope I can find some help here.
I have the XT1900-7 device and I have to upgrade it to Android 9 as my banking app will stop working otherwise next week. I don't get the update offered via the Android settings, but the support confirmed that it is available.
I already tried to use the Lenovo Rescue and Smart Assistant as they recommended, but it says the device is not supported after downloading the firmware file.
I tried sideloading with the file I got from the assistant as well as with the one from https://motostockrom.com/motorola-moto-x4-xt1900
But when I enter recovery menu and select to sideload from ADB (same issue when trying with SD card), it always fails at the first step.
It prints "failed to unmount /" and then "failed to set up expected mounts for install".
Another frequent entries in the recovery log say "failed to open driver control: No such file or directory" and "[libfs_mgr]fs_mgr_read_fstab_dt(): failed to read fstab from dt".
But I could not figure out the reason for these or if they are related.
I wiped all data as well, but it made no difference.
Not directly related, but I mention it in case someone has a suggestion for that:
As the sideloading failed, I unlocked the bootloader (sideloading still does not work) and tried to install the firmware with fastboot.
But it seems that the communication is not stable or corrupted. I have to type most commands at least twice to receive a response other than "not found" or "remote: unknown command".
I read that this could be related to a bad USB cable. I already tried switching ports, but I don't have another USB cable available right now.
Could there be another reason for this issue?
Thanks for any help with this. I really don't want to buy a new phone again just because of that.
