My 11 Ultra came sealed (CN Version), in which video recording/playback worked normally (using the included "MI Video" app)
However, since I moved towards the latest stable from xiaomi.eu, I can still record videos but unable to play them back. This can't be normal
MI Video can't play them. Downloaded VLC and it too - only plays the audio stream (but not the video)
Then, I tried MX Player and it plays recorded videos properly
But this can't be right. How come the bundled video player included in the ROM cannot playback videos recorded with the very same device? It can't be that one has to download a 3rd party app just for functionality that should already be in place
It can't be a 'missing codec' issue - as the recorded files are parsed normally, since a video preview image is generated and displayed in the galery
Is this a known issue?
Ideally, I would like to rid of the MX Player (as it has ads). But VLC won't play them back...
Hi,
check on camera settings and select H264 as codec to use for recording videos.
Also check your HDR10+ settings..
Mine phone is also from CN, from long time I'm on xiaomi.eu stable, and have the latest version - no problem for me.

Every time I play a video file that I didn't record with the camera, the audio is always behind the video and it's really bothersome.
Running Serendipity 7.
I have a solution
SOLUTION
The best solution I found was to use the VLC Media Player app.
It's still in alpha, but it's the best video player out there. (direct download)
Now there may be times where the video still loses sync with the audio (most of the time when you tap the screen during playback). All you need to do then is to skip to a random point in the video and skip back, or reload the video.
It's a pain, yes. But it's the best we can do for now. Maybe it will get better when the Beta/full version of VLC player is released.
when video is playing it is only 2 or 3 pictures per secund.
It 's to laggy to watch.
Video decoder is not working (properly). That's why all videos lag.
It's said in the first or second post-I don't remember exactly- that video decoder doesn't work. This also means that you can't play videos you import in your phone (in the sd card for example) as well.I think.
Same happens to me
Sent from my X8 using XDA App
Video works for me
I installed "Mobo" player and chose soft decoding in it.
So video works for me

I was actually answering Vicky26 on importing video to sd card...mobo works fine there....for streaming if you somehow get the streaming link, there is an option in menu of the player for streaming. I somehow made it work using default manager, setting streaming default as mobo....copying link url by long pressing video in browser and re-pasting it in the browser.....so when you zoom in...you see two play video icons(arrow), one of them opens the video in mobo
Thanx!I actually switched back to my GingerDX because of some other problems I also had, but I will try this as soon as I install Paul's rom again
Hi guys! I'm having this issue. I usually use Kinemaster to edit my videos for my youtube channel. Strangely Kinemaster doesn't allow me to edit videos recorded with the Nokia 8 stock camera app, it says "codec audio not supported".
So I tried to record videos with several different camera apps (Open camera, google camera, a better camera...) and though Kinemaster accepts every video file recorded with these alternative apps, the audio quality of every video shot with other apps is terrible. A lot of noise, I mean a lot! I can't seem to work this one out. Anyone tried to record a video with a different camera app? How did that work out for you?
Thanks guys...
Did you try converting your video to another audio/video format?
Hello, I'm going to be upgrading from my Midnight Black Snapdragon S5 to the Ocean Blue 512GB Exynos Note9 and would like to know if it supports HEVC x265 video files (in .m4v & .mkv formats) ? I can play them on my PC via KMPlayer but would be great if the stock Video Player & Gallery on the Note9 support them as well so I wouldn't have to download MX Player instead. Any info is appreciated, thank you for reading
PS: Please quote my post when you reply as I don't check Note9 forums often (yet ).

I haven't used this feature but tried to answer your question on my Eyxnos Note 9
It seems to have the option to select hevc in video recording settings of standard camera app.
A short test video , recorded on Note 9 with hevc option enabled was playable in both native gallery app and MXplayer.
Both players seemed to confirm hevc encoding

I mainly would watch series in HEVC but if it plays recorded HEVC from the camera I don't see a reason not to play movies etc. Thanks for confirming
isint hevc just the encoding for the file container?
logically anything that has H.265 support can play it( which all modern players should be able to play/read)
btw file extensions(container) are almost meaningless eg: mkv, mv4,mp4 and dosent regulate if the actualy decoding is possible or not. they are just a name that allows the correct app to start and open the file. the header in the file probably is the important part.
[HELP] My 11T Pro can't play media files (video/audio) for the last couple days at least.
Not MP3, MP4, avi nothing. Neither from a file manager or the gallery.
Tried every video or audio player from MX to everything.
Also the camera can't write video (only photos) just freezes.
I'm in 13.0.18.
Please help.

The last stable is V13.0.21.0.SKDEUXM try to update.
And/or if you have tried everything for the settings / emptied the caches of the apps concerned, do a factory reset.
After the panic. I started to uninstall anything backwards until the day that I last recorded a video and thank God it repaired.
Don't know what caused it probably the B player, another app forced me to install.
