Ok i found a thread about a similar version of note 3, and likely there will be those who question why i might go this route for a note 4 but honedtly its the only way i could ever come close to getting a phone this expensive. To the point , i bought my note 4 from rent a center. Way too much money but 30 bucks a week i can do even though in the end it will be astronomically expensive. well its a t mobile device running on at&t through net 10, but theres a couple interesting things. First i checked knox and it was tripped from begginning. It was definetly a new phone no doubt about that.. so hey i can root with no reprecussions and have. Im rooted with twrp now. The other interesting thing is the build of kitkat. It notes rac-conversa in the build name see image.
Now my questions are, whats thoughts on the knox , i dont need it anyway, and next im wondering if the different build and or carrier and model combination going to be problematic when flashing roms or other things.. the build lacks any carrier bloat which is nice and even lacks some of samsungs bloat.
Id like to compare build props with a typical tmo note among other comparisons. Noe i have been flashing and rooting for years but this is my first samsung device. And while im not a developer i do kno a fair bit about coding ,building roms and such im hoping i wont have to utilize that knowledge to flash roms to the note though...
Really would like some thoughts and to see if anyone else has this device or knows of it.
Definitely flash it. I would almost guarantee RAC has a tracking of some kind in that ROM should you decide not to pay. Or, some sort of remote kill anyway.
I have recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 off of Swappa, but when I received it, it had the damned ddi: mmc read error problem that I have read up on and found is a hardware issue. My question is if anyone know a place to buy this phone that is new or at least refurbished by Samsung. Preferably the T-Mobile Carrier version because I want to keep an unlocked bootloader. Especially looking for people who ran into the same issue and were able to find a seller with a phone that didn't have aforementioned problems. I am just really unsure about places as I really want to have the Note 4, best Samsung device IMO, and hoping someone can help.
If Gazelle sells them, I would trust them. I'm just about to send my Note 4 back to tmobile for trade in. Not sure exactly what happens to those phones. My 4 is on excellent condition so they shouldn't have to do too much.. excepting I of course tripped Knox. Not sure what they do about that.

I know for a fact that tmobile sells refurbished note 4's for 400 bones
Should be a ton of them out there somewhere, along with spare parts, considering n5 was never released in Europe.

Hi I purchased last week from swappa. So far no problems and it includes a 30 day money back guarantee... Check out the seller MyteCell LLC. If they have any problem they will let you know. Response is very quick. Hope this helps

There are at least two T-Mobile stores in the Atlanta area selling what they say are NEW Note 4s, one had them on display, the other said they had them in the back, but they weren't on display. Call a few in your area and ask.
I would only by one recertification with a warranty!

I just bought a T-Mobile version (they're Unlocked) with 32GB Internal Storage for about $300 Refurbed and it arrived like brand new. I got it on Amazon. I can provide you with a link if you'd like.

If you don't mind sending me a link, I'd like to check that out. By the way, was it packaged in original box or aftermarket? If not, it doesn't bother me, just curious.

They usually don't like links to things like that right in the forum, so I PM'ed it. Go take a look at it.

I've seen a bunch of people having success with rooting the Tab S8U using Tab S7+ root guides. I've asked some of these people if rooting the Tab S8+ using the Tab S7+ guides would garner success, and most people are saying that it would. However, I'm not sure if anyone has tried flashing TWRP made for the Tab S7+ on the Tab S8+ or Tab S8U.
Has anyone attempted to do this? Are there compatibility issues you have to deal with? Does it just not work all, making backups with TWRP on the Tab S8 line isn't possible yet, and we only have root for now? Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated!
Fair question, but I wouldn't ever flash anything that's not made specifically for the device. Hopefully, someone else would have a more specific answer.

Well, I've managed to find some firmware for the SM-X800 XAR. So, when my S8+ comes, I'll try and see if rooting it the Tab S7+ way, vbmeta_disabled image and samsung multidisabler zip and all, will bare any sort of positive result. If not, thank god I have some firmware to flash, lol.

Isn't the Tab S8+ X800 and the S8U is X900? I'm not planning on trying this on an S8U.

Flashing the TWRP of another device, on a different device, is probably one of the stupidest things one could try. Unless, of course, they just want to see if it would work and are willing to risk a softbrick. And just in case you're wondering, a softbrick is the most probable result of such an attempt, I've never seen this kind of thing succeed, either by my own tests or the reports of others.
It's always best to use a TWRP that is designed specifically for the device you plan to use it on.
Disclaimer: I own a Tab S7+, but not any of the Tab S8 variants. I just noticed you had posted in the Tab S7(+) subforums, and I responded a few times.
So, which tab did you choose to buy? Or have you not decided yet? I know you mentioned something about eBay, I just kind of assumed you bought something from there.

I did end up getting an S7+ but I'm going to be selling the one I have for a new S8+. The better CPU, GPU, and cameras turned out to be something I needed for the things I'm trying to do with it.

I'm happy with my Tab S7+, plenty powerful for what I do. My only gripe is that the 512GB storage/8GB RAM variants can't also have a 5G slot. Mine is the WiFi only model. That alone isn't enough to make me want to upgrade, though.
As much as I like the Tab S8 specs, it appears that the screen is nearly 15". That's almost laptop-sized. A bit too big and bulky for a tablet if you ask me. I wouldn't automatically not buy it just because of that, but anything larger than 15" is kind of a no-go. At that point I might as well carry a laptop with me.

Nah I'm not getting the Ultra for that very reason. It's a little too big and heavy for my needs. Not to mention that I really don't need 16GB of ram for what I need to do nowadays. The CPU and GPU is more than enough.
Edit: The S8+'s better CPU and GPU is more than enough.
Update: Won the bid for a brand new Tab S8+ with the slim keyboard cover for less than MSRP. It should be coming around April 2nd. Will keep y'all posted.

How much, compared to normal retail pricing? I wouldn't expect it to be much cheaper, considering this device is a hot product and new to the market. And sellers will naturally want to maximize profits on this kind of thing. Leave it to capitalism to bring out the greed in humanity. Unfortunately, its' competing economic philosophies are largely failures as history has proven, so it's not like we have better options.

About $870. Before taxes and shipping (mostly taxes) bumped the price up, I won the bid at $793. A pretty decent deal considering the tablet itself is $900 MSRP (iirc). Not to mention the included slim keyboard case which is $160 (iirc). I don't plan on using the keyboard case it came with except for maybe the cover. I care about the keyboard itself less since it doesn't have the trackpad, and I use that a lot. I'm most likely just gonna flip the sealed keyboard case on another site (at MSRP ofc since scalping is an awful thing to do).
Update: Tablet is in transit and the estimated arrival time still says April 2, but the city the tablet's coming from is only a little more than an hour away from mine. So, it may show up earlier than that. I'll keep you guys posted.

Yeah, that's happened to me too. Sometimes the delivery happened quicker than the stated date. But on one occasion I watched as my package's starting point (less than 8 miles from where I live) suddenly changed to NY, Florida, Texas, Nevada, Oregon, then finally it came to my city. As it turns out, they were air-transporting it around the US. I was furious, that delivery took 5 days longer than the stated date. I think someone somewhere made a mistake.
Update: It arrived today! I'm very excited to see if this little experiment of mine will work. I'm going to try it tomorrow. See you guys then!

Trust me, it won't. But you can try anyway. Be ready to reflash your stock recovery or even a full stock firmware, once you see that I'm correct.

It's probably not gonna work, and I do have firmware ready to flash the tablet back to a factory state. It would be incredible if it did since it's not made for the Tab S8+, but I won't hold my breath.
