Hello, I've had my p30 pro for almost 4 years and the battery life has obviously degraded over time, but as of 3 days ago it only lasts about 4 to 5 hours. Nothing has changed on my phone, and it easily lasted a full day before this.
I'm going to get a new battery out in as I think that's probably the issue, but thought I'd post here to see if it could be something else as it happened all of a sudden which I find odd.
Thanks
Phone battery doesn't last longer. It will degraded as it gets older. Change the battery it might be good to go.
Ya 98% sure that's it, I'm going to bring it in tomorrow for a new battery, just weird that it went form lasting around 12 hours to pretty much 4 overnight. I've never had a battery degrade so rapidly before. Would just suck to spend $100 that could go towards a new phone on a battery if that's not it.

Maybe try to do hard reset, and try using it for time being. If the issue still persist, changing the battery it's the only option
That's actually a great idea, didn't even think about that.
Thanks for the help.

Sooo. I have had my Optimus 2X for 2 days now. I charged the phone fullt before goint to bed and left wifi on. (should turn off when phone sleeps)
The first night i lost about 3% of the battery. Great....
But... The second night i lost 42%!!!
I have been trying to investigate the issue and after some digging with spare parts i found out the wifi was on all the time the second night... Also for some reason car home allways runs in the background (starts at boot and restarts if killed) and spare parts claims car home uses the phone sensors 100% of the time.
Anyone else having battery draining issues?
Im going to charge 100% again tonight and run with no installed user apps. If the problem persists i try and freez some of the loads of sys apps that run in the background all the time.
I also noticed some battery drain on mine but not over 40%... its more like 20%. The battery really disappoints me anyway. I have to recharge two or three times a day?l maybe thr battery needs to get trained over time, I hope...
You found a solution yet?

My battery already holds up alot better now, then when i got the phone four days ago.
About 60-70% left after a 14 hour day with some surfing, benching and calling/texting. Much better then my Desire on stock ROM, but still nowhere near the Desire on custom ROM.
Looking forward to some community goodness
BTW, removing carhome.apk seems to make quite the difference.

That's good to hear. Is it common for batteries to act this way? Talk about wildin' out.

Quick question about best used on the battery ...
Should we dry the battery to 0 for the first cycle ?
Or only to 20% ?
Is it bad if we start to charge the phone whent the battery is at 60% ?
On the contrary:
modern Li-Ion batteries don't like it if you discharge them to a minimum. Moreover they don't have the memory effect that you seem concerned about.
In a nutshell: Charge your phone whenever you can, at any charge level. Your battery will thank you.
On the first few charges though, you should always charge to 100% to help the battery gain her full efficiency
hey thx about those informations
but then i'm concerned about people saying stuff like "have been doing 3 life circle" for me it does mean they put the battery dry clean ...
Went to bed with 64% charge on the battery. When I woke up (8 hours later), still 64%.

I think it might be because I froze all the applications I didn't need.
Been really impressed by this phone's battery. Definitely better than everything htc has to offer.

What's your usage like?
Hmm... My phone last for 6 hours before drained... Had it for a week now... Takes about 2 hours to fully charge up again..
I even hardreset, turned of wifi etc... but alas, 6 hours and it was out of power again...
And that was just by being in standby.
If I actually use the phone, I can see the percentages going down from 100 - 0 in no time..

7 am: Full charged
After 2 hours of 3g, 5 hours of wifi, heavy texting, 30 mins of call, 30 mins of games
7pm: still has 36%
Not bad for an android phone.

My battery is useless to. Yesterday ive charged my phone 3 times hehe.
On moday I'll send it to the service as DOA.
Gonna try getting a new battery tomorrow... Hopefully it isnt the phone that is faulty...
2:nd day in my phone lasted about 5.5 h before I hade to recharge. Turned off the option for applications to sync and 20 hours later im at 32%
So I'm burning 1.8% per hour according to BBS. Does anyone here know how to decipher the info and tell me what's the culprit?
1.8% per hour? That's not even bad. Round it up to 2%. That's 50 hours. What's wrong with that?

It may be likely that your Moto X’s battery is fine, but having trouble correctly identifying how much battery life is left.
Simply run the battery down to about five to eight percent and let it die. You can speed this up by streaming a YouTube video. Then, when the Moto X has died, let it charge for a few hours before turning it back on.

Never go to zero
Obviously, using your battery is going to make it degrade. But it's going to slowly die even if you just leave that iPad in the closet for a bit. There's a trick to minimizing that inevitable aging though: leave it a little bit of juice.
If you're going to be shelving any lithium-ion battery for a long time, try to leave it with at least 40 percent battery power to tide it over. Lithium-ion batteries don't hemmorage power at 30 percent a month like nickel-metal-hydride batteries do; they'll lose maybe five to ten percent of their charge each month.
And when lithium-ion batteries get too low—like, literally zero percent—they get seriously unstable, and dangerous to charge. To prevent explosion-type disasters if you do try to charge one, lithium-ion batteries have built-in self-destruct circuits that will disable (read: destroy) the battery for good, if it reaches rock bottom. And sure, that'll save you from a face full of battery-acid, but it'll also leave you short one battery.

Always have heard it is bad to drain the battery in a phone. I know other people swear by it, but its not worth the risk of it not charging again, or worse blowing up.
Charging sooner doesn't hurt since there is no "charge memory" like nickle based batteries. so just plug it in when you can, and if you your away from an outlet for too long, maybe it time to consider an external battery backup.
OP, here's another thread that has been discusing the same issue, its a good read.

I burn around 6% after the last update, with no other changes to the phone. And that's with Battery Saver on too. Used to be around 1.5 to 3%. Everyone said "just wait, this always happens after an update, it will eventually settle out". Total BS. My daily battery life has been cut in half for months.
Well I did a better battery stats 6 hours test ( let it sit no touching etc ) and Im only at 1% an hour. Im pretty happy with that.
I've tweaked the crap out of my phone....and get 24+ hours with 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 hour screen times. Extremely happy......and best I've got on standby is 1ish per hour.
Again....tweaked the crap out....for battery life. LOL. So 1 percent even may take sacrifices some may not wanna make. I'd say a stock sorta phone would get 2 even and you'd be doing alright.

wow you guys are getting great battery life! According to GSam Battery Monitor, I'm at 9.7%/hour. Currently 6 hours since unplugged and I'm at 35%! With only 2 hours of screen on time.
I think I messed it up when I first got the phone. I immediately upgraded to the 2 OTA's and forgot to do a factory reset. I think I might do one now and see if it fixes the battery life.

1 percent per hour is with no use. 9.7 per hour with you using it a lot and depending what you are doing could be perfectly normal.

There is nothing we can do about it, the battery is awful. It would only work fine for a couple of months and then start showing its aging signs.
Hey, got a weird issue with my device.
Just 4 years old piece and already this has a dead battery!!! Cannot use it anymore basically... drains overnight on airplane mode from 75-80% to 0 in 7 hours!!! Last night I left it fully charged and shut down just to not starting anymore this morning because there is no power left, battery is EMPTY!!! Just barely started to charge!!! Something is wrong with this phone, really wrong!!!
I tried custom roms but the phone has the same behavior... so I came back to MIUI 12.5 just to be in the same position and to have the same conclusion: I HAVE A DEAD BATTERY!!!
I went back to my old Redmi Note 5 Pro with a custom rom... just like knew. How is this even possible??? An older device, with same amount of use have a better battery life than a newer device??? Different battery manufacturer, some production flaw in the battery production? Either way, conclusion is clear: NEW BATTERY... so, so disappointed by this situation...
Batteries get old and die , you have to change it , or maybe there is a short circuit on the motherboard , best option is to take it to a repair shop
I know.
But I found out that in fact my phone is only 2 years and 3 months old??? So, is this battery old enough to die? I guess there is something else here.
In the meantime, I already change the battery, sadly not with an original one... and so far so good, but only a few days passed. This battery however is acting strange! Does not charge more than 86%. Aida64 reports battery full at this precent... but I guess time will tell if I made a bad/ good choice.

encounter the same problem after 4 years of using redmi note 8 battery drains so fast unlike before and changing the battery to a new one it either does not fully charges it to 100 percent and it shutdown when my battery percent is around 20 or so percent but when I try to connect a charge and remove it, it will open up to that 20% or so percentage and continue to be used, I'm guessing the it need a battery calibration but I know really know what to follow on the internet.
So I just got a new 10 pro from OnePlus a few days ago. Idk if If the battery is suppose to be this bad or if it's my unit itself. I know battery apps aren't usually super accurate but AccuBattery reports the battery design capacity as 4040ma. It's suppose to be a 5000 ma battery right? I have it set up as half brightness, only cell data active, no wifi, no bt, no NFC, no location, nothing else is on. I hardly use it, literally, maybe read reddit for a little on my lunch breaks. After a 8hr shif it's down to 20% with less than an hour of screen on time, about 45 mins id say. Is this phone this bad with battery? Is it from sitting in storage at OnePlus?, or should I return this?
Just doesn't seem right to me. I had a brand new 7 pro since launch day and that lasted most of the day with location, bt, high brightness playing Pokemon go and had a degraded battery with only 3450ma out of 4000ma left...
Sounds very defective, id return it or claim warranty or something
Lol, AccuBattery probably didn't detect the capacity right. Adjust it manually, give it a few charges (up to 80% for the best results) and then you'll have an ESTIMATE battery health. As for the drain, you may have something running in the background. I'd check that with root and something like FKM to see which process could be responsible.
Thanks to both responses.
I adjusted the design capacity to 5k. Right now it says estimated capacity 2475ma, which with the way it doesn't last even an 8hr shift with almost no use seems right on the dot...
Il try the charging thing and see what the estimate is. But after a week I figured even with the design capacity being wrong that it would estimate it way higher. I know AccuBattery isn't the best way to measure things. Il give it a few days. I still have til next Saturday to return it.
I had a bad habit of charging my 7pro literally every time it dropped below 40% when I was at work every day, so that's probably why that battery degraded so much, and id plug it in when I was driving too. Trying not to ruin this one like that. But it's looking like a return is in order cause with a 1000ma bigger batter than my 7pro, it should last at least what that one did, only you would think being brand new, alot longer...
I'm stupid.. I think I forgot to check the setting for dual cell battery in settings. Now it says 4951/5000. That seems more like it. And weirdly enough it has lasted a lot longer today than yesterday. I restarted a few times this morning. I think you were right about a process draining an absurd amount of battery the last week I've been using it.
Hopefully this will resolve itself before my return period is up, cause other than battery life this phone is pretty awesome so far. It's sad to see not much development on here for it yet. I'm use to seeing so many roms and stuff coming from the 7 pro.
