Xperia Parts on Stock Rom 47.2.A.11.228 - Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact Questions & Answers

Hello
Does anyone know how to install Xperia Parts on Stock Rom?
I want to be able to switch modems to get VoLTE/VoWiFi

What, exactly are you trying to do here?
Xperia Parts is necessary on custom Roms so that you have access to the tools and features from stock that aren't normally available. But on a stock rom .... they're already baked in. So you don't need them.
If you want to switch modems, you can try the Customization Selector (search for modem), but I think this is still just building off of things that are already there - I vaguely recall there are some modem settings in the *#*#7378423#*#* service menu.

[Q] Looking for a special ROM...

hey XDAs,
when i downloaded a custom rom like modaco, i had every app in a specific folder with framework, resources etc.
now i downloaded one of the stock roms of these but when i tried to open it, i only had a .bin and a .fls file.
is there a stock rom (would be best) version, where i have all apps separated in folders like the custom roms?
my plan is to add/remove apps, change the launcher and change all app icons, starting with this (this is what i have so far) and put the whole package in one rom.zip to have it installed by clockworkmod

when you want to use stock rom you need smartflash or nvflash tool to flash files, it reset everything except your SD card.
.fls file is for baseband and .bin file is a ROM
and when you want to modify sooooooo much, why not use source from MoDaCo, i mean his zip file, all is based on stock ROM with extra benefits.
just modify his files and try installing it into yours, and by modifying i am guessing you wont sign back your zip file after modification.
i tried lots of custom roms so far and had a hard time to get back to stock till i found nvflash
so these stock roms from the thread can only be installed via nvflash?
problem is, by now i´m only able to change some icons or remove/add complete apps AND i would like to have the LG lockscreen, stock statusbar icons, stock toggle bar in pulldown menu and so on.....and no rom but the stock rom could fulfill these wishes
last chance i had in mind was the modaco online kitchen but that is for premium users only.....
i MIGHT sell my phone on ebay and i would like to add a complete rom with stock apps and MY custom icons as a bonus.....
for example: optimus speed stock version but if YOU (buyer) want to, i pre-install some unique custom icons and stuff
modaco FR17 is downloadable for everyone.... and if you go stock then go COMPLETE stock, that is what STOCK mean....
and just nvflash and your problem is solved for selling it, but just remember choose only the firmware from region where your phone is from. ...
and if my post help, do hit THANKS button. feels good.

yeah well, putting back to stock is not a problem.....
i still could change all icons via root manager but that would take to much time and effort.....think i have to give the modaco FR17 a shot. you mean fr17-update-modacocustomrom-2x-kitchen-unsigned no?
yeah, its FR17, its nice ROM feels stock like, but have few extras, which you can remove if you dont like using Titanium Backup, the easy way.

[Q] Reboot Button

Ok, the title doesn't explain what I want so, let's go:
First, if anyone could just teach me, I'll be very happy
So, on stock eclair Rom, is possible to have a Reboot button in the options menu (where has airplane, profile, shutdown.) I wanna to add a reboot button, like custom froyo and gingerbread roms. Is possible to do this? And if yes, have a way to put options in the reboot, like to reboot normally or in recovery or even bootloader?
For now on, thanks.
U can try stock base custom rom like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1866184
Officially corp via W8(11w32 unlocked bootloder)
i think it can done by using X8 toolbox, just a guess, i recommend to try use X8 toolbox
x8 toolbox can implement anything you want like fake dual touch also!

[Q] Just a few questions ;)

What i have done in the last 24 hours:
1. Updated to 4.3 on stock ROM
2. Unlocked bootloader on my Z1
3. Flashed "PhilZ Touch 6" dual bootloader (idk what "dual means" :S) (Dec 3 2013 version)
4. Used the built in root tool in "PhilZ" to root my phone and installed the corresponding app "SuperSU"
Questions:
Does bootloaders come with a custom kernel?
My bootloaders "About" says its made for the "Z" (not Z1). Did i **** up or is this incorrect?
If i flash kernel (for my device) via CWM will i break something?
Does roms require a certain kernel?
Can i flash .img files via CWM or is it required that the file is .zip?
I see kernels on the forum that advertise being 4 kitkat, do i need to flash that kernel WITH a kitkat rom to use that kernel?
Why shuld i flash a kernel?
As CM is not officially supported on the Z1 yet is there a cool alternative rom i can use?
Thats all the Q's i came up with, hope you can help me answer my ridiculous questions and wish me luck on my first android phone! :good:
bump
I won't get my device until tomorrow, but there a few things I could explain:
Some ROMs need to have a specific kernel. You cannot use Stock kernel with Cyanogenmod, or vice versa. Custom kernels are often a good idea to flash if you want some extra optimizations, you can get extra performance and save battery life with an enhanced kernel.
As for an alternative ROM, why don't you just check out the dev forums? There are Cyanogenmod ROMs, they're just unofficial.
Also, did you back up your TA? Otherwise, you'll be in for some real big trouble.

****, i did not backup my TA. What does that mean for me?
I read in some threads that TA only gives you the option to revert back to absolute factory defaults. As i am having no problems i dont see why i would do that.
Edit: Thats wierd, my TrackID still works after unlocking bootloader, flashing recovery and rooting. Am i super lucky?

It's mostly needed for Bravia engine stuff, as well as the BIONZ image processor. I guess if you don't care too much about that, and you don't have any reason to have to go back to absolute factory settings in the case of a warranty return, then it should be fine.

[Q] Just got phone (VS98010A), would like to install CM10.2

I recently got this phone and out of box it comes with VS98010A installed. I've been a big fan of Jelly Bean for various reasons, and I would like to install CM10.2 to start. I know KitKat and Lollipop is available, but I'd like start there.
I've been reading around XDA and trying to understand the process to installing roms on this phone. However, I feel like I'm all over the place and can't wrap my head around it all.
There seems to be four components that I need to understand:
Bootloader - Our devices have bootloaders that cannot be unlocked. However, we have 2 methods that allow us to get around them. They are known as loki and BUMP. loki came first and is the most supported. BUMP came later and produces a more "clean" flash.
Bootstack - I'm still not entirely clear on this, but it sounds like this includes many underlying components that allows the phone to function. It sounds like each ROM has it's own bootstack (eg. 10B, 11A, 12B, 17F, or 24A)?
Modem - The radio software that allows the antenna to work and connect to our carrier
Recovery- Software we use to flash files such as custom ROMS. modem, etc.
I'll start with the goal: I'd like to install CM10.2 using the latest bootstack and modem that is compatible with the rom.
Below are a number of questions that I have:
1. It sounds like each ROM might be built to only work with a specific bootstack and modem? Is there a way to tell what combination that might be just from the flashable ROM zip file?
2. To get to a specific bootstack, do I just upgrade to that specific stock verizon rom? 12B sounds like the last exploitable version. Being on stock 10A, does it make sense for me to KDZ/TOT to 12B first?
3, Is the CM10.2 rom not by default compatible with 12B and subsequently higher version as well? The question arises because of this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2620733
4. What modem version should I use. Does it matter? I've ran into statements such as "all you need to do to run CM is flash the 12B modem"
5. The BUMP method sounds like the "cleanest" way to do this, but to my knowledge only recent roms are starting to support this method? As I want to flash CM10.2, I imagine I can't use the BUMP method?
6. Does the latest TWRP (openrecovery-twrp-2.8.5.0-vs980 as of right now) have any minimum bootstack requirement?
7. Is the recommended root method still with IORoot?
Thanks in advance for sharing your wisdom.

I've been having a lot of trouble trying to put a custom rom on my S5

I just want to put a custom rom that enables or however I do it, Lollipop. I also would like the options for customization. If possible I'd like the alliance one. But I don't know how. I've downloaded a couple different stock roms and then rooted and did everything I could. I can't find a custom bootloader that works for me. Everytime I try to install a custom Rom the phone won't load. It stops doing anything after the Samsung logo and doesn't make it to the AT&T logo.

For starters, we can't help you unless we know what phone you have ( firmware version etc ). Secondly you will not find a custom bootloader because AT&T locks them down and no one has cracked it.
