Question HELP NEEDED - Dead Xiaomi 12 pro - Xiaomi 12 Pro

Hi! I'm having a serious issue with my Xiaomi 12 pro. I have it since about a week, on saturday I unlocked the bootloader and flashed Xiaomi eu.
Everything was fine until this night (so about 1 day after flash). Out of nowhere, while I was chatting on telegram, the phone begun to be extremely slow and unresponsive, taking several seconds to register my keystrokes. I decided to reboot (also the shutdown circle animation was very sluggish) and it never boots up again.
If I plug it in charge it gets stuck in mi logo, even when I unplug. If I hold the power button the phone shuts off and then the low battery icon appears, even though I left it in charge for quite a while. However both phone and charger are cool so I don't think it's charging.
I can't get it to fastboot mode or to recovery in any way
Can somebody help me? Is it a problem related to Xiaomi eu or is it hardware? Thanks

Seems to be an HW issue.
what if you charge it?

If you cannot enter fastboot or recovery, it is over. You state 'in any way', could you describe which ways you tried?

I tried as i said, it just gets stuck on mi logo. I fear that it's a battery problem, since it's not charging and if i try to power on it shows low battery icon

I tried holding volume up and down (at different times obv) while plugging in, since it's the only way to get a mi logo. It never enters fastboot nor recovery, it just gets stuck on mi logo.
Since 1-2 days when i booted up the phone, the battery percentage shown was 0, then after a minute or so, the correct percentage then was shown. I don't know if this is related

Is it still guaranteed?

well, it's rooted and with xiaomi eu. If I want I can easily return it to amazon, but since I bought it in a special sale I don't want to loose it. I'll try to take it to xiaomi assistance.. Do i have to mention the rooted and custom rom stuff if they ask?
Also i think it's confirmed that there's nothing I can do, based on what you said

Don't say anything, about root, etc...
There is a solution but only if it is a SW issue.

I don't think it's a sw issue though, it would have appeared right after flashing if that was the case, I think. I suspect it's a battery issue

Hi, as much as I would like to give you an update, I can't.. I dropped off the phone on Thursday, they shipped it to a central repair place in Milan. They said eta is 2 weeks they also took me 25 euro as "insurance" (don't know how to call it in English); if they see that the damage is not covered under warranty, they will keep them even if I decline repairs. Rn fearing for Xiaomi eu..

warranty repairs are sub-contracted for Europe.
I have seen catastrophic returns for France((CEAT)such as loss of phones or damaged phone when it was not, in short everything is done to avoid repairs.

One of my friend took his Xiaomi for repair - after 3 months the shop (not the centralized repair business in Milan) had to order a new phone for him and hire a lawyer to go against the repair center. Apparently they lost the phone. Let's hope, definitely I will not consider anymore Xiaomi for my next phone. A phone that dies in 1 week and terrible repair service is not what I'm looking for.. also considering the price Xiaomi phones reached - as much as Samsung and iPhone

Did you buy this phone from Xiaomi or another seller?
If another seller, maybe you should have gone through him first.

I bought it through Amazon. However they didn't even try to ship it to assistance, they wanted me to return it. I didn't agree since i would loose a very huge discount, so I took it directly to Xiaomi assistance

It is directly Amazon, but since not even a month has passed since purchase, they only offer return (maybe the fact that I bought it on Amazon warehouse made a difference, idk)

There is also a warranty.

[HARDWARE FIX] Xperia Z not charging or booting

Problem: Xperia Z is not charging, not turning on, false battery stats or stuck in an non-software-caused bootloop... sometimes It's caused by a broken battery connector on the mainboard
try swapping battery first!
Ok guys... I present you...
XPERIA Z BATTERY BUG ***HARDWARE FIX***
It's a cheap n' dirty fix! Use at your own risk - I don't care if your house burned down because of this... :silly:
STEP 1 - Remove the Backcover (see this youtube video how to do it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNrtamZuf7E)
STEP 2 - Remove the Battery (Be very carefull not to crack your display doing this...)
STEP 3 - Bend Battery Connector Pins

}
STEP 4 - Get a very thin cable (eg. from a USB Cable you cut down) and a soldering iron
STEP 5 - Solder the cable to the battery pinpoint >> TH << and on to the testing pinpoint on the mainboard according to my images
Should look like this...
STEP 6 - Assemble everything together again and connect the phone to the original Sony Charger
STEP 7 - Wait 2-3h for the handset to be charged
STEP 8 *additional* - Boot up device and install Sony Mobile Battery Test from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/general/sony-mobile-battery-testing-app-version-t2527932 <--- (You can just take the .apk from the .rar file and install it)
STEP 9
SUCCESS! If your screen looks like this everything went fine:
Image of finished repair...I put some red plasti-dip around the fix-cable to isolate it
---
Notes:
Battery stats should be now OK - If not solder battery pinpoint EN to the PCB pinpoint behind (not under)
So what was the problem?
Sony's battery connector on the PCB is a cheap plastic sh*t... there are 6 connection points... 2 for +, 2 for -, 1 for temperature (TN - located middle top) and one EN ??? after some time the TN signal does not connect correctly causing this problem. you can't charge the battery and/or get false battery stats...if the battery is empty you can't boot anymore even with ac charger connected...
On my screenshot on top you see the battery temperature is 34° and green - OK - everything working fine
But without the fix you'lI get this:
Complete bull****...minus -30°...I'm not even close to Sibiria
So one step was to get rid of this fault... Since I got sometimes the right values (about + 30°C) when I was holding the connection between battery and pcb together with my fingers while device was on, I thought it is a problem with the connection.
The main problem on my two devices was that they didn't charge... When connected to AC -> bootloop ...
I got a fully charged battery and found this problem with the battery test app.. Fixing the battery connection to transmit correct temperature data made it possible to charge the battery fully again...battery stats are working and correct...I can now charge the devices as normal (in turned on or off state) ... i did buy new batterys but used the old ones for the fix and they work perfectly
TESTED ON TWO DEVICES WITH BOOTLOOP / NOT CHARGING and they are working FULLY again!!!!
Note if you open your device it may not be water resistant anymore...you can buy a new seal on ebay
If it worked for you please say thanks/like
thx 2 hunix for his software fix thread
Thanks for the thread, quickstyler, I had lost all hope before checking this and hunix's thread. I am yet to try the hardware fix as I wanted to first check if I have the same issue using the battery tester. I ran into some problem with the software fix, please check my post in the other thread and reply if you can help with anything.
This guy explains the whole battery temperature thing.

I have a problem regarding my power system, I don't know what it is but my phone only works when I plug it into my laptop, it doesnt work on wall chargers and I did try few wall chargers. I have replaced the battery but result is still the same.
I tried your method but now my XZ doesn't wanna start at all, even on laptop, which was the only way to operate it.
After soldering those two points, my XZ only flashed a white screen for a second and then dies, when I tried to turn it on, it shows SONY for a second and then it dies again ...
Flashtool still can recognize it tho .... and I did flashed its original firmware, but then again, it still does not want to start ..
Any idea what happen?

hi guys , i have a problem with my sony z ,
when I pressing power ,i got the vibrate ,but there is no sony logo , even when i reflashed the ftf file ,still no chance,
thanks
My Z has started to do this. It won't charge at all and is showing completely the wrong temperature for the battery. So it looks like I need to do what's in the OP.
Quick question though...how did you put the phone back together again? What did you stick the back on with?

Don't forget that the sale of goods act covers us in the UK. Your phone might still be eligible for free repair.
Look into it before dismantling it and definitely voiding your warranty.
Edit - Here's an (oldish) article about your rights in the UK. Also, if you unlocked your bootloader your warranty IS NOT voided.

Ah, a fellow countryman. Excellent!
I could always try unrooting my phone as that definitely does kill my warranty. To be honest, I was thinking about taking it down to my local Carphone Warehouse. They offer a repair service and I've always found them to be helpful.
The stores near here are staffed with nerds which is just perfect for an old modder like me..

It being rooted will cause them to try to tell you it voids your warranty, but flashing, rooting and bootloader unlocking etc does not void warranty for hardware defects in all EU member states and that includes us here in the UK. Here's some information on that.
If I were you I would flash back to stock and quote the sale of goods act at the retailer. They are bound by law to repair or replace at no cost to you.

Excuse me while I suppress a shudder at having a...a...stock phone..
That's not a bad idea. I'll download Emma, go back to you-know-what, and try taking it in tomorrow. Watch this space!
I was curious about using the Sale Of Goods Act. It's clearly not fit for purpose if it won't last the full length of the contract. It certainly wouldn't be the first Sony phone I've had that went wrong after a year.
And yet, I'll still get a Z4 when it comes out. I think I may be a fanboy...

No spare parts at xiaomi service centres.

Updates at the end of post
I am from gurgaon, haryana India.Recently bought Mi3 for my dad, during first flash sale of Mi3 in india.[22 july]Awesome phone. My family members and friends were impressed by its looks and performance an atleast 10 of the people i know ( including some in my family) are saving up and waiting for Mi4. (including me)
BUT
My dad has dropped the phone atleast 100 times and so far not even a single scratch but few days back it dropped from a height which it was not built to last. So the lower portion of the touch screen cracked a bit and now that cracked portion is not responding to touch. Which leaves it useless as unlock mechanism of the phone is that area. Can't unlock phone and can't even answer the call as even the area to answer or reject call is also in that portion
So i went to the nearest and only service centre of Xiaomi in my city. i was surprised to know that they don't have a single spare parts of Xiaomi. this was the response that i got there"Sir we don't have any spare part at the moment. we haven't received any spare parts from Xiaomi so far. we have already requested it but are still waiting for them. You can check in 7-10 days with us.
"So no spare parts??????? whats the purpose of listing it as service centre if it is not capable of servicing anything??? this is the case after 2 month and after 10-15 days it will be 3 month.
i have sent email. Posted on Facebook and twitter page of xiaomi india. i even posted on huggo barra google plus profile.
I finally received reply of my email today which said that they are sorry and that they have forwarded my email to the appropriate department.
4th oct Update :
I called xiaomi exclusive service centre today(4th OCT) and even they have not received any spare parts till date. It will soon be 3 months since xiaomi first flash sale now
I have recorded calls made to xiaomi exclusive centre in Delhi (in hindi) and xiaomi toll free number (in English)
Will call again tomorrow (8th October) and record the conversation in English and post it here. Will also visit the service centre again tomorrow and post some more proof.

Phone finally repaired. Cost Rs6070/-
After emailing and posting on almost all social media for 3 months i got response from xiaomi india facebook page. But after few conversation they stopped replying and i got call from service centre next day that your phone has been repaired. So i don't know whether it was because of that conversation or spare parts finally arrived.
Still its best to go visit your nearest xiaomi service centre and ask them for quote and repair time for your xiaomi mi3 or redmi 1s or Mi4(when it arrives) before you buy any of these phones. So that you will have rough idea if the situation in your area.
I oftens told to my wife that my Mi3 is expensive more than her Ip 5S when my daughter want to play it. I dont allow her take my phone bcs my daughter is 13 months only. bcs Iphone can replace spare part easy, the problem is only money. but Mi3 cannot. there is no spare part in Viet Nam too, and I not expect on that. I bought this phone with thinking if I drop or something, I have to throw it out. So I keep it very carefully. he he.
As a temporary solution to unlock and make the use of "Phone" functionality, I would suggest you to get a OTG Cable (you can find it even for Rupees 49 in ebay) and then connect a mouse to the phone using that cable. With the mouse you can unlock the phone and disable the lock screen by going to settings. Enable any key answer or something like that using a 3rd party app from playstore so that you can attend calls too. Hope it helps.
I'm sitting at the kotla service center right now getting the main board replaced. They don't have screens here either, eta Tuesday. Was here yesterday too, it's always empty..
Is that MI TV?

I visited the service centre again today. They said that they received spare parts once and they repaired the device which were submitted with them. So i submitted my device. They also told me that they have received spare parts only once from 22nd july (that's when phone first went on sale in India) till now. And that too very limited spare parts. No spare parts for redmi 1s till now. They said that it will at least take 15 days for my touch screen to arrive. Could take more but minimum is 15 days. No limit on maximum time. I am not holding my breath as they just received spare parts once in 2.5 months till now.

Will that Chinese seller make sure that my device warranty doesn't void or will he take responsibility of the spare part being genuine? Or will i able to claim my money back if that spare last just one or two days.
NO
only service centre can give all that. If i buy from some seller on internet and then i have to go to the service centre for the same thing again then total cost will come out to be 250$+ . that's almost a new phone .
Use your brain before you post.

You are right. Both service centers in Chennai don't have parts. One asked me to wait for a week and the other said it will take 15 days. The problem is even the quoted dates were minimum estimation. They said it may take longer. It is extremely frustrating, I have an old galaxy S, so I can manage, but for people with no other alternative it would be maddening. Also saw many Redmi 1S customers facing the same problem when I was there.

Can I get the glass alone replaced atleast in one of the service centres in chennai for Redmi 1S, Touch, buttons and all functions work fine but screen is shattered and pieces of glass falling off the screen. How much does it cost to replace screen/Glass for Redmi 1S

cracked back resolved (uk)

just a quick note to say that after a week away with the sony repair centre in the uk i have got my z3 compact back.
i suffered from the back glass getting a crack from one corner to the opposite one without any bangs or drops.i had the device from new for 6 days.
sony have repaired the device under warranty without cost.
the only cost i had was £8 special delivery with royal mail to send it in.
i know others have reported getting their devices back without the cable and plug they had to send in but this was not the case for me.
just wanted to share my experience if anybody else has this problem, although i think it is fairly rare and hopefully only happens on early models.
cheers

Hi, my girlfriend has had the same thing happen to her 7 day old Z3 Compact. No signs of any sort of dropping or misuse, just a diagonal crack on the back case has appeared. Can I ask please, as you're in the UK too, how did you go about reporting/sorting this out? Straight to Sony or via your network provider? Did you contact them face-to-face, phone or email?
Any help will be appreciated as I feel a bit guilty by recommending she got this phone and getting her away from her usual iPhone.

hi mate, my phone is a unlocked model that i purchased on my own so i had to deal with sony direct.
i registered a xperia account and linked my phone to it to get the years warranty.then i raised a repair through this.they sent me the details of where to send it freepost. you will need your own packaging they supply nothing, also they suggest just dropping it in the post but i used royal mail special delivery.from then on the whole communication from them was awful.they say you can track the whole process and its updated all the time.this is bull .i had to contact them to get them to even acknowledge they even go my phone.i had no update on the whole process of them looking and repairing the device.it was repaired free of charge and the whole process was 1 week door to door.it came back via royal mail also.i was pleased with this of course but they never followed up with what may have caused the problem to start with.
do you have any ideas?
about 2 days before my crack appeared i shot about 2 mins of 4k video and the device got very warm.it was only put back in my pocket where it would have stayed until cooled.
let me know how your repair goes.
best of luck
I have yet to find out if the warranty will cover this. Surprised me one morning, 1 long diagonal crack on the back of my Z3 Compact.

Oh mate sorry to hear that. Providing there is nothing on it to make it appear it could have been dropped then you'll be fine.

The rear panel of mine cracked from side to side under the Sony logo shortly after filming in 4k (it shut down due to overheating). To be fair, it cracked when I walked into the corner of a table with the phone in my pocket (screen inwards - old habits...). There were other firmware issues as well but the rear panel was the one that caused me most concern as it completely killed any semblance of water-resistance. Sony repaired and returned in about a week at no cost to me other that postage (see below). I would agree that their repair tracking facility is cack - when they sent me an email to say it was on its way back, they sent the wrong tracking code.
Mine is an O2 device but like you it was registered with them and I just raised a ticket online - I also paid for Next Day Special as I wasn't sticking it in the post without insurance. I never sent my charger as that wasn't the issue (and I didn't want to lose it).

Its probably hardware. There is a separate sensor behind the screen for the pen. Its has to be damaged somehow. I would factory reset first and see if it's still there. Then start the warranty process.
The problem since day 1 of the device .. I found many complains for the same problem .. my question is that issue present in all note 8 ?
I just checked mine and it is working properly.

No, absolutely not. I have not seen any complaints on the issue myself. I have seen a pattern of Hong Kong sold devices having issues though. May want to check if you even have a genuine Samsung note 8. The knockoffs sold in Hong Kong are really good at passing for genuine devices. As you can see on my screenshot I can write to the edges no problem.

I would try first with the ebay seller in getting money back. If they are an honest seller and just have bad stock they should work with you. There are apps on the store you can use to verify if it's a genuine Samsung device as well. If it's genuine, i don't see why Samsung themselves wouldn't honor the warranty.

You have a couple options, depending on how long you've had the device:
Reach out to Samsung to inquire about warranty repair/replacement
Reach out to the seller to see if they will exchange.
Reach out to PayPal and make a claim for a receiving a defective device.
Last option, is you pay to have the LCD replaced.

Mr Orange stated the options better than I. I would start with seller then paypal, then Samsung for repair if you can't get it exchanged.

I had it for 10 days , I'll contact seller first , I don't think that Samsung in my country will fix on warranty

A sealed box is not an indicator of an authentic device.
Do what other person said, use software on app store to check authenticy then speak to seller and tell them you have a device faulty out of the box.

I thought you may be in the no warranty boat. I think it's lame Samsung does that. You bought it just like anyone else. Hopefully the seller or ebay helps you out.

It wouldn't hurt to ask Samsung. Worse they can do is say no. They cant take away your Christmas (or whatever non-religious, non-offensive, generic holiday you may or may not celebrate during the last month of the year). Plus they could tell you if your IMEI is a genuine Note 8.
But reaching out to the seller is also a good Avenue, assuming they are selling genuine Note 8s.
Do not start spreading statements as "I have MANY COMPLAINTS" about your problem, as it is not the case, when some malfunction appears, the Only way to go as always, is warranty claim, regarding hardware issues, the only help will come from the seller, this posts stating or implying that many devices suffer of something without being verified are of no use, so, HARDWARE ISSUE=WARRANTY CLAIM, if you can not get a a solution this way because of the way you got your device, then the next time you should reconsider to buy from an official authorized dealer, when you buy from someone who offers a very good low price, you assume the risk of not obtaining a law enforced warranty

I ordered my note 8 online because in our country no 256 GB or blue version which I want , it cost me more than the official 64 version in my authorized dealer ..
I posted this to know is it a major complain or only mine ..
The point is, buying from an official authorized dealer in your home country is always the safe way to go, some problems of various types always arise in certain number on ANY brand, device type or model, buying from non official channels often make warranty claims somewhat difficult or impossible at times, if the exact model you want is not available in your home country, then the choice about peace of mind or desire/satisfaction comes in, on the other hand, that screen issue you have is not common or usual

I get what you're saying, and I'm sure the OP gets it, too. But I'm also sure he's just looking for advice and help for his issue, not to be kicked when he's down and lectured about buying internationally.
And to be fair, his original post said HE found a lot of similar complaints. You can't say for certain he hasn't found similar complaints by searching online, so berating him about whether or not its a common issue isn't helpful, and you honestly just come off as confrontational, like you're trying to pick a fight or trying to find a reason to be offended.
Just my two cents. I don't want to argue, and just want to see people get help if possible. It sounds like a hardware issue, and I have given him all the steps I know to take to get it taken care of.
Thanks for your help ..
At Samsung community forum there are 2 posts for the same complain , under those posts there are few customers complaining exactly the same , some reply stat that official samsung dealer asked them to put the device in safe mode .. safe mode didn't solve my problem ..
Other replies stated that samsung service accept replace on warrenty
In my case it seems that my only way is to return to the seller with losing the cost of shipping , costum and taxes at my country and his country ... or to accept the problem as it is and live with it . ?
BTW .. touching the screen with my finger is ok from edge to edge no problem .. the peoblem happens only with the S pen

Question Zenfone 8 suddenly died - no sign of life - Asus EU support not covering because of an unlocked bootloader

Hi,
A week ago I was using my < 4 months old Zenfone 8 while traveling in Germany, and at 19% battery the screen turned black. I went back home, tried charging it for as long as possible, it was staying cold and never showed any sign of life.
So I opened a RMA on Asus Belgium website (as I am from Belgium), and shipped the phone to their repair center.
Today, I got an email from them, saying that the warranty wasn't covering the damage, and that I had to pay 500,28€ for a replacement of the motherboard.
When going into their OOW website, I saw this table :
Warranty start:2021-05-16Warranty end:2023-05-15Issue date:2021-09-13Receive date:2021-09-15Charge reason:OOWCustomer agree to quotation:Charge reason:OOW - Out of warranty ASUS Product Unlock Flag-oow scratched
It seems to me that the "unlock flag" is their bootloader unlock tool, that I had indeed used to root the phone before, and wanted to try a few custom ROM - which I actually never did since there were none at the time. Of course, this is completely unrelated to the issue, as it is not even rooted anymore and I basically did nothing with it.
As I am from the EU, I saw that there are laws that protect consumers from these types of abusive behaviors from companies, as explained here https://piana.eu/root/
I am therefore
1) looking for people who had this problem with their Zenfone 8 (what is it actually? never seen a brand new phone die like this)
2) looking for people who had their warranty denied for an unlocked bootloader in the EU, and what is possible to do
Thank you very much for your attention and for your help
There loads of people that has the same bricked state:
ZenFone8 stuck on waiting for flashing full ramdump
As requested by the mod - opening new discussion for the issue. The Flashing Full Ramdump happened to me too - the phone was being charged over the night and the error was waiting when I woke up. I hope that at least your service will fix it quickly.
zentalk.asus.com
I had it on my 1st ZF8, complety dead. Sent it for repair but ASUS refunded it.
2nd one seems resistent to this bug, rooted, flashed all kinds of roms etc, ended in ramdump state but can always boot to fastboot.

I've seen that but I'm not sure it's the exact same state, as for me it didn't even display anything anymore. Also, did Asus refund you even with your bootloader unlocked?

Yes, it was bootloader unlocked.
You can also check state when you plug it to computer, even with dark screen.
Check what the usb connection says in device manager

Yeah I tried it back when I had the phone (since it’s now hostage at Asus) and nothing showed up in the device manager
So update: After a bit of back and forth emailing, I finally got an answer: « Im really sorry but our answer will not change. By using the unlock tool you have agreed that the warranty will be dropped, no matter what problem you are experiencing and regardless of how the problem arose. »
So basically they openly agree that they are scamming me of 500€ after selling me a faulty device, but thanks to an abusive clause, they think they can do it.
Great customer service, always a pleasure to give business to such a great company as Asus… I’ll get my lawyer involved now, anyone who has advices on the legal process in the EU is very welcome.
Seem to be some hardware fault with the 1st batch. Really bad customer response from asus, loads of reports of dying zf8's now

I really hope my small 128 GB phone won't have this issue. I really like this phone...
There are reports on Zentalk forums of both 128 and 256 models dying
We are basically all held in suspense wondering if our phones will die or not. Personally, I have a second phone (Xperia z5 premium) that is fully set up and I can easily switch in case of problems, but it is still not a nice feeling
Possible battery failure. Inspect.
I dont think its battery fail, seems more likely that storage or RAM gets corrupt, the 1st state is
"waiting for flashing full ramdump". I have this state on my 2nd zf8 but can always reboot to fastboot. That was not the case on the first unit

I haven't found the cause. My phone is working normally.
However people on Zentalk forums which have sent their phones for repair have reported that the service report has information that motherboard was replaced. I can't confirm or deny this

Was the 128GB model for me, we still don’t know what the issue is.
If I can’t get the phone fixed the legal way I think I’ll pay the 60€ to get it back unrepaired (because yes, I have to pay for that) and open it myself to try and find the issue. Maybe I’ll be more competent than their lame service at identifying the issue

Oh man I feel sorry for you. In Germany, they'd have to prove it was not their fault in the first 6 month after buying
