I'm trying to unlock the bootloader on my Note 10 and after finally downloading Mi Unlock (the MIUI servers kept going down) I'm having a ridiculus issue where I can't enter a country code for my (apparently neccisary) phone number.. The drop-down box you see is completely impossible to interact with, I can't click on it, I can't scroll, I can't even type. This makes my number invalid and I can't continue the proccess. If anyone has a solution or alternative proccess to unlock the bootloader, I would appreciate it.
I have tried on my PC and Laptop on both available versions of Mi Unlock.
Managed to tab into the search bar for the country code and by closing and opening the drop-down menu it refreshed and shows the correct code, but i still cant click on anything on this drop-down menu.

Apologies, it just spontaniously fixed itself...
Had the same issue a week ago. The GUI is broken. I added the phone number manually to the mi account on the phone and that fixed the issue (no request for a mobile number later).
GEE! Had the very same problem, never seen such a mess Just downloaded the unlock tool from them, then it notifies me there is new one to download - what bunch of funny men

Thanks, that worked for me as well.
Now I am stuck at their stupid policy of waiting:
WTF! A week? 24h I would deem already a hassle, 48h a certified idiocy but a week? Also after asking for email AND phone number (and verifying!)?
@XiaoMi: Diuuu... Fix that stupidity, get your act together!

Yes, very, very easy - updating from A11 to A13 was a similarly easy story and I got them quickly after switching to another region which I found out short 20ish minutes googling. Even then I had easily to do it step by step A11 to A12 and then A12 to A13 (took only 3 episodes of Bullwinkle and 4 episodes of Fired on Mars).
Reminded me a bit of this:
“But the plans were on display…”
“On display? I eventually had to go down to the cellar to find them.”
“That’s the display department.”
“With a flashlight.”
“Ah, well, the lights had probably gone.”
“So had the stairs.”
“But look, you found the notice, didn’t you?”
“Yes,” said Arthur, “yes I did. It was on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying ‘Beware of the Leopard.”

I'd wish they would start selling their phones as barebones and thus make them even 13 cents cheaper

I dont file the pattern lock of the android very secure. There are only a limited number of combos you can do. Is there any other software that will allow me to lock my phone and require some kind of key combo/screen combo to unlock that is more secure?
Thanks!
how do you not find it secure? the "limited number of combinations" you speak of is ASTRONOMICAL. for the lowest number of connections possible (3 dots), you have 3^9 possibilities, or 19,683 possible combinations. not to mention you can have all 9 dots connected in whatever order you want. a rough calculation based on this brings us to a number in the BILLIONS of possible combinations.
this is basic math. the phone is secure as you want it to be if you're willing to take more than 1/2 a second to unlock your phone. try a 4 or 5 dot combination and unless you're using something VERY predictable, nobody will ever guess it.

unless the person who unlocked the phone did anything else on the screen, in which case, you cant tell. also, if your fingers are that oily that you're leaving streaks on the screen every time you use it, i might suggest washing them, perhaps for the first time in your life.

Since this is "basic math" as you put it, then it might help to actually get the math right.
I. A three-dot passkey on a 9-dot pad would have 9^3 possible entries (729), not 3^9.
II. Since you cannot choose the same dot twice, this is actually an example of permutation. The correct number of possible entries is 9Px, where x is the length of the passkey. For example, for a three-dot passkey, the number of possible entries is 9P3, or just 504 possible entries.
Now you know, and knowledge is.. you get the idea.
quite true, and i'm big enough to admit it.
even so, you still prove the same basic point. the total number of combinations someone could have would be the following:
3 dots+4 dots+5 dots+6 dots+7 dots+8 dots+9 dots
or
504+3024+15120+60480+181440+362880+362880
which adds up to a possible 986,328 possible lockscreen combinations. now, given a basic premise that you can do one combination every 2 seconds, and for every 10 tries you suffer a 2 minute delay (120 seconds) to reboot the phone and try again (doesnt really work that way, you have to safe mode it, but lets play with the logic here) and the very last combination tried is the one thats yours, it would take the following length of time:
2(986328)+120(986328/10[rounded down])=13776096 seconds.
this translates to 159 days, 10 hours, 41 minutes, 36 seconds.
of course, the opposite is also true, that they could get it right on the first guess, in which case it takes 2 seconds. But those are pretty long odds.
but as stated, when you get locked out, theres a second layer of security, which is your gmail name and password. so unless the person unlocking your phone knows a lot about you, but somehow cant figure out your lockscreen combo, they're pretty much SOL.
simply put, most people arent going to try and unlock your phone. they're going to visit a forum like this one, figure out how to wipe the phone (which doesnt require a password, although that might be a nice feature for cyanogen to build into his next recovery image), drop in a new memory card and then make their own password for their brand new phone. the only people you really have to be worried about is the people who are always around you, like girlfriends and wives and parents and such. but then again, hiding stuff on your cell phone from people like that is shady business anyway.
no matter the combination, just looking at the finger print trail and it's possible to unlock. i find it not very secure myself. many of my friends who pick up my phone after several tries following a my finger print trail were able to unlock. i wish there was a pin # style lock. even if there is finger prints, there isnt a connected dot trail from one to the next, so itll be a bit more secure.

I think the above comments relating to grease/fingerprint streaks have merit too. I unlock my phone quite a few times a day. Now, I like to consider myself a pretty hygenic person. I wash my hands no less than, i'd estimate, a dozen times a day. Still, I can't help but see the faint (or sometimes not so faint) fingerprint streak of my passkey on the surface of the screen.
The design of the dot lock screen looks really nifty, but I can't help but feel it's actually not a very practical implementation. For example, a regular number pad screen would eliminate the fingerprint streak problem and the problem of being unable to move from one dot to another without "selecting" a dot that is located in between.
After hours of googling I decided to write this thread.
I'm working as a phone technician and having a problem with Samsung i9000 with a pattern lock on it.
Customer doesn't know pattern and his google account.
Also on this handset the 3 button trick to get into Recovery/Download mode is disabled.
I have tried many methods of trying to get into recovery mode
-holding the 3 buttons the entire time (this just resets the phone and brings back to the I9000 screen)
-just letting go of the power (boots into the phones OS)
-letting the phone reset once by holding all 3 buttons down then releasing only the power (boots into OS)
-letting all 3 buttons go (boots into OS)
I've tried download mode too just to see if it works and it doesn't.
I already find out that there is a fix i have to install the Download/Recovery Mode fix (3 Button Disabled SPL fix), but to do that in phone settings usb debugging have to be selected which I can't do because of pattern lock.
Also my computer cannot detect phone in device manager after connecting.
There is a mass storage device option selected in connectivity. Phone just keep charging on usb cable.
Any ideas ??
The costumer should show papers that confirms that the phone is owned by the costumer, then, as a phone technician, you should know how to re-flash the device when you face such problem, if you don't know how to fix that as a phone technician then send it to Samsung Care Center along with the phone papers to be fixed. You should not be posting at a forum asking about this when you know the guide lines of your work.

You can build a jig that allows you force download mode.the method to do so is on xda just search for it,or you can buy the jig from ebay for about £5.

Indeed he should show you the papers, that's way too many things to suddenly not know or forget.
A Jig should help you getting into download mode though.
Can anyone advise me if it is feasible to disable/ enable (by purpose) entering into Download mode/ factory reset/ CWM? This is a good way to protect our devices.
if indeed the phone is his , build a jig and enter with it in download mode and flash a rom with repartition .
OK, thanks for anwsers lads, I will try to do it by JIG and i will post a result.

definately a stolen phone becuase you can go onto google with your cmputer and get your account info mailed to you.. i assume he/she remembers his google email?
Yep, it might be a stolen phone, who knows.
But stolen phones are usually barred, there is no signal on them. As i checked there is a signal on o2 and vodafone.
I once stupidly changed my unlock pattern when i was half asleep and was able to move the security pane out of the way by trying to make an emergency call, this gave me VERY limited access to some menus but you might be able to fix it this way.

Hmmmm sorry ruthles but im thinking more and more that YOU stole this phone...
Why is there no sim inserted into the device on the picture you posted in post 1?
Why would you be trying different sim cards in the phone? That has nothing to do with the pattern lock... If what you say is true you should know that as part of your profession.
I also dont think that some one in your position would resort to creating an account on XDA forums just to ask this question.
This all seems very odd...

there would be no sim in the first as most people take there sim out if they put it in for repairs. trying different sims would indicate whether it is imei locked. the third question is a bit weird though.

Really!! I'm not an idiot!! Of course I know!! The problem is that the damn circle continues to show up about every 30 seconds, whether the battery has gained a power percentage point or not; same thing when the battery is discharging...almost continual displaying of the circle.
Turning off Adaptive Battery does not stop the circle from appearing. I want, and need, to know how to turn this circle off or disable it altogether. I've also noticed that my battery does not charge as well as it did before this PIE update....sometimes it charges and sometimes it doesn't. Also, keep in mind that the Damn circle is using battery power just to try and look "cool" and make Google think they did something constructive.
Again, any help would be appreciated. Thanks. FYI, I may be a "junior member" since I do not post but, I've been a member for over 25 years, I believe...probably longer. I'm just getting gray as you will be soon. LOL!!

age has nothing to do with the elaboration on one's issues and the means used to ask for help.
1- nowhere did you state that this appeared or not when you actualy had the phone on a charger and which type.
2- maybe your charging cable is defective in some way or form. try an other. the 2nd message you posted now points to something that is not normal. If you use wireless charing then it would seem you might just be out of range or are using a chit Qi charging pad or even a case that might be just a tad too thick.
3- samsung makes the phone and the one UI. not xda. maybe take it up with them.
as you can see well describing your problem can go a long way. BTW the junior title in your profile matches your status correctly.

Sorry Guy, you are wrong, in all cases. Check out your history. Oh wait! No one checks history anymore; that's why everything is going downhill. XDA-Developers was around alot longer than you realize. I was on, under a different user name, probably before you were able to read. It's people like you, who always look for others mistakes, that cause legitimate posters to not post. People like you are Bullies and Trolls. So, piss off!
The problem with the circle is that Android Pie (version 9 to those of you who don't check history) is flawed. The batteries are draining faster than they can be charged; there are touch screen issues; adaptive display is messed up, et cetera. Samsung is aware of the issues and is allowing a reflash to fix the problems. Other phone manufacturers, as well as Service Providers, are doing the same or they are denying the problems at the detriment of their consumers. Check out the uproar in Europe. Pie is just now hitting the major markets in the U.S. so, the problems are not widespread yet.
Don't upgrade to Pie until Google decides to fix their mistakes. Good luck!

Well if it keeps coming up every few minutes you either have a faulty usb port, or cable, or power brick.
Try cleaning the dust from the usb port.
Check to see if any battery app that you use might be causing it.
If all checks out and if you think it's a bad usb port or software bug then please, BACKUP phone and do a factory reset. This will either tell you if it is a software bug or a hardware fault.
(It might be a bad ota update to pie. Only way is to factory reset it and start clean.)
Good luck!

Thank you! I have done all of what you suggested. I do not use any unnecessary apps, especially battery apps. I believe, as Samsung does, that it is a bad OTA update, as you suggested. I will be going in to a Samsung repair facility on Tuesday for them to re-flash the update. Believe me this is basically a nightmare since I use my phone for programming purposes, at times.
Thanks, also, to everyone else who responded constructively.

No. I definitely do not install battery apps and I don't install any unnecessary apps. But, actually it is an unnecessary side effect of the Adaptive Battery feature which is a waste of battery power, just to let you know what the battery level is, and/or as a reminder to unplug your phone. Anyway, as per Samsung it is a bad OTA Update and it will be fixed on Tuesday, if I have the time. Thank you for your suggestion!

You should backup your phone first ! Samsung will most likely just do a factory reset on the phone . You can do that yourself, there is 2 places you can go to do it:
1) Recovery mode
2) Settings / General Management/ Reset (or in settings just search for "reset")
Just make sure you'll have your Google account (usually your gmail and password) password if not don't do reset first get the password first then reset or you'll be locked out of phone.
But if not comfortable then just backup phone to pc and have the store do it.
I have same issue on Samsung a10e. While plugged in the current percentage pops up every 10 seconds in that circle. How to turn off??
Was looking for the ability to enter engineer mode, tried a few guides and couldn't get it to work.
Thanks to @Youb1 for posting the USSD code required (post below, drop them a thanks!)
All that you need to do is pop in this code to your Google dialer
*#899#
Then click dial.
A screen will show up with various tests, there's a warning below about these tests so please read on.
(doesn't work on 3rd party dialers for some reason, I tried a few)
NOTE**** DO NOT CLICK ON AUTO TESTS OF ANY KIND!!!!
The first thing it'll do is make a call to the police, I had no idea until they called me back, probably a good idea to avoid doing that, I'm sure they have better things to do than chase an android enthusiast testing their mobile device
The tool is useful for testing lenses, battery, screen, gyro, Accel, proximity, brightness, it'll even show your logic board serial amongst other things.
Just avoid the call test and any auto tests, stick with manual only and you'll be fine.

Yep be very careful with that.
FYI 112 is the not quite an emergency contact number.

I just did the same thing!
So please don't do the test, as it wastes the emergency services time.

Worked a little too good. After sale tools ended up auto dialing 911. Hahaha, sure can test everything there, even each camera.

Glad I wasn't the only one frantically apologizing that I accidentally hit the emergency services while half asleep.

I just ignored it as other tests came up, just assumed it was a sound byte.
Then I put the phone down and they called me back
112 isn't for emergencies anyway so not a Biggie but wish I hadn't called

Yeah... 911 is definitely for emergencies. So your warning definitely stands for America as well. I did the same , tried to hang up immediately.. when they called back as xxxx city 911.. I may or may not have panicked a bit, hahaha. But we're all good, the lady was super understanding about it since it was like 2AM and I'm sure I sounded panicked, well apologetic, and half asleep. Hahahaha.

Strangely 911 also calls the police in the UK, they added it as an optional number as Americans visiting the UK may not know and because of movies, everyone in the world knows about 911 being the police in America so I guess it made sense to.
Anyway, stick with manual tests and I'm sure you'll be fine.
I'll update the OP.
There are other engineering menus you can get into on this phone as well, but it requires a bit of work and from my testing it resets after restarting (or maybe after a set time). These menus include things that you should be careful messing with, so please be careful before clicking on any random item. It also includes a network engineering mode to view your cell connection info although it's not always accurate. Anyways, if you want to get into the engineering mode just follow the guide here. After doing that, you can get into engineering mode by typing the following into your phone dialer:
*#36446337#
Also, another menu without needing to do the above method is: *#808#
Doesn't give you the full engineering mode but has some other menus to go through as well.

Ah, that may be why. I'm still on Android 12 since I have the T-Mobile version.

I wonder if the guide I linked works on Android 13 for unlocking engineering and using the other code I posted work?

I can give it a whirl.. But I think I did it already, I recognise the code.. if it's the same one then it'll require the 808 code to start it off

Yes but it shows different names "samsung test" no matter how i edit the name in settings it still shows samsung test, i login logout google still the same, my guess is this phone is refurbished, but they claim its "2nd hand" phone and never been repaired. Also the edge of the back of the phone(left corner) is seems like its been opened, its not smooth when i rub my fingers on it. It this refurb? Should i send it back?
guess google account changes have 72 hours (3 days) delay
