Notifications don't make sounds, or cause vibration (like they should) - OPPO Find X5 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi all,
I've got an X6 Pro, and I've found that, apart from Gmail, no app notifications will cause the phone to vibrate and play their respective notification sound.
They work as expected, it's just there's no actual notification you've gotten something.
For the record, this also occurs with my Chinese apps, like Taobao and Weibo.
Any suggestions?
Here's what I've got for my apps:
• Background activity permitted
• Notification ringtone and vibration enabled
• Phone is not on DND, or Silent mode.
• Device volume is well above mute
• Notification sounds are also set well above mute
Secondly, it looks like only some apps are permitted to have notification badges, it's not something that's available for any app?
Thanks for your help and time, it is much appreciated

[Q] Vibrate mode overrides individual app settings

Just picked up a Droid Turbo. I noticed when I have the phone in vibrate mode, I get a double buzz for EVERY notification on my phone, even on apps where I've specifically made sure to not enable vibrate.
For example, in the Messaging app, I've selected a notification sound, enabled notifications, but did not check the box next to vibrate. When I get a text, I get the double vibrate.
Is there something I'm missing, or is this a Moto bug/"feature"?
Unless you disabled notification sounds as well for the apps you are mentioning, you are describing the expected functionality for Android. Vibrate mode replaces all notification sounds with a vibrate patter. It does not simply disable sounds and leave only vibration preferences active.

Strange, I've had an LG and an HTC in the past and both behaved that way, where when vibrate mode was selected, it responded to each apps preferences.
Example scenario.
Gmail vibrate on notify, play sound on notify.
Google plus no vibration on notify, play sound on notify.
When in vibrate mode, id get buzzed for gmail as well as a notification icon, but for google plus id only get the notification icon.

Help change individual sound notifications?

HI Guys
recently got a Z3 compact. cool little phone but lacking in a lot of simple options compared to the likes of Samsung, etc.
I am trying to change individual sound notifications for various messaging notifications and also to change the sound notification of locking/unlocking screen.
Under; Settings > Sound & notification > Default Notification
This is where I change the sound for notifications, however this effects all notification sounds for all forms of messages, email, hangouts, etc. How do I change them individually?
Under; Settings > Sound & notification > Other Sounds
This is where I can choose 'On' or 'Off' for "Screen Locking Sounds'. However it does not allow me to change the sound that the phone has registered by default.
I downloaded various Super Mario Bros sounds and want to individualise sound notifications so that when my phone is receiving messages, etc it will play the various sounds and unlocking the screen will play the 'level up' sound, making it in all sound like my phone is playing Super Mario Bros. I had this on one of my Samsung phones and rather dissapointingly cant seem to do the same with this phone. I also downloaded apps called "Ringo" and "Lightflow" but they too don't allow me to make these personalised changes.
Any help or advice?
As you mentioned, you can change the sound each app uses for notifications but this is done within each app separately (e.g. email, texts, Facebook, etc). In other words, open each app and select the sound you want from within the apps settings.
You can't change the volume for them individually though, they'll all be at the same level.

[SOLUTION] Oneplus3T LED notification on Android 8 (OREO)

Good morning fellas, I have an "issue" that is driving me nuts and I hope someone here could give me a solution for this, I will try to explain:
Since Android 5, the notification system has changed and I hate it!
I always (almost) use my phone in "vibrate mode", I like it to vibrate ONLY when I receive a call or SMS. Messaging Apps like Whatsapp/Telegram, I want the notification LED to work,
for that to happen I need to set a notification tone under Settings > Sound and Vibration, but if I set any sound for this and the phone is in vibrate mode, all the sound is converted into a vibration,
even if the options in Whatsapp, for example, was mutted with no vibration and sound at all... with these settings, the LED works like a charm, but the devil vibrations happen aswell and if I set a notification sound to none, the vibrations vanish, but the LED stops working too... it is really boring, the Whatsapp configuration SHOULD (in my opinion) override the System configuration...
I guess you already understood what I want: phone in vibrate mode, with no vibrate in whatsapp, only LED... (I already tried to block vibration permissions for whatsapp with a 3rd party app for rooted devices with no positive result, because it is a system "bug")
The wierdest thing is: before the update to Oreo, it was working the way I want, even with the crap notification system!
That's it... sorry about my english and thanks for now
Thing is, in some Oreo roms for some reason I had to give permission manually to each app to use LED light...
Use VibraFix from play store (root) if you want to disable all vibration, give WhatsApp permission to use LED light and override do not disturb = no vibrations but LED works.

Un-linking ringtone and notifications via application, forces DND mode.

I just got the MIUI 9 update(although didn't try this before) and I'm trying various applications to allow me to effectively mute all notifications and allow phone calls to ring with sound. I've tried a few and they all work, but they seem to turn on DND mode and don't always release it leaving me with no sounds at all. Has anyone had any luck unlinking the phone and notifications with Nougat and MIUI?
Quick update...to simplify I downloaded silent.ogg and applied it to my default notification sound and each app that used special. This way I have ringing all the time with volume and all other notifications just visual and in some cases, to my watch. It works.

Possible to have vibration on notification ?

It's hard to understand why there is no LED on the Nokia 8, not necessarily a color one like on my trusty Lenovo P2, even a white one would do the trick for notifications...
Anyway I don't like audio on notifications so I was hoping to have the phone vibrate but that doesn't seem possible, am I missing something ? Thanks for any help !
Just turn Notification/Phone ring Volume to 0 should be vibration only

That would also mute phone rings, which I doubt OP wants.
@webvan You can manually turn of notification sounds for each app by long-pressing an app icon and tap: App Info -> App notifications -> Messages -> Sound -> None.
Thanks, yes I'd still like the phone to ring !
Will try the app by app setting.
ok so I tried that method and you can indeed dig into the notifications and when they are set to a high or above importance you can activate "vibrate" and deactivate "sounds". Thanks !

Seems crazy that 10 years into Android development there is no option to only make your phone vibrate when a notification arrives instead of making a sound !

May I ask what apps you are trying to turn off sound notifications? For Instant Messaging apps like Viber, Signal, Telegram, etc. I can easily turn the sound notification OFF and leave the vibration option ON. Some apps don't have those options simply because they don't send and/or display notifications.
It's strange to hear you can't do that. Try exploring all the options around the Notification Settings in each app.
Oops, had edited my message in the meantime! Yes I found that the trick is to set importance of the notification to high or above to get control of the sound+vibration settings. All good now!
