Has anyone tried out the Pixel OS made for the this device? I might give it a try, just got the device 2 days ago, bootloader unlocked!

The wife's phone dropped and broke last night and need to buy a new one. Hers was one of the first Amazon ones that could be BL unlocked. I see that the preloader has changed to block SP Flash Tools. Is there a way around this?

As long as new one does not come with V8.4 or 8.3 already installed and you complete initial setup without installing a sim card and do not connect to wifi. Other wise the setup will automatically do an update.
Then it is possible to still unlock bootloader.
I ordered 2 a couple days ago for my parents and they had 7.4.2 so I could BL unlock them. I just installed the modified V8.4 stock roms and debloated them.
I know there were a couple of posts a month ago asking this question with no real results and thought I would get an update on whether anyone has successfully managed to root their Nokia 8, and if so, what method they used?
bootloader is still locked from Nokia side...so...nothing more to do...

HMD has agreed to unlock the Bootloader, but so far it hasn't happened.
Hello!
I unlocked and rooted my p20 pro with magisk. I have the CLT-L04. I was wondering if someone could help me figure out where to get the updated ota files and how to flash them with fastboot. I have done some reading although it is unclear.
Also unsure if it's worth keeping my phone unlocked since Huawei won't be providing codes in four days.
Best regards
Download firmware here:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teammt.gmanrainy.huaweifirmwarefinder
And flash via hurupdater
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/tool-flash-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279
And even you relock your BL, you can use the same code unlock it again.
Great thank you that worked. I can't seem to find the code I used to unlock my bootloader, does it need to be the same? (Not planning on relocking, just curious)
Also my live wallpapers have now disappeared? I would appreciate if anyone have the theme files.
Cheers

Hi there bro! Noticed that you might be from Manila, too. I am also using a Huawei P20 Pro and on the verge of rooting. Been using Samsung mobiles for the past 4 years and have rooted all of them. Got the P20 Pro 3 months ago and somehow I cannot go on not having it rooted hehe.
Here are some notes:
1. I got the unlock code for the bootloader 2 days before Huawei stopped giving them out last month.
2. I have downloaded the TWRP (praetorian version)
3. Got Magisk v16.0
4. ADB and fastboot ready for use on mac.
A couple of questions:
1. Is it a good time to root now?
2. Why do some unlock/relock their bootloader??
Looking forward to your pieces of advice. Thanks in advance!
Cheers!

Hi,
to answer your questions:
1. Rooting is a personal preference. IF you're rooting to flash customs, there's no really available custom ROMs for this device at the moment. IF you need apps that needs root access and don't care about warranty, then root.
2. Not sure about his one. I don't see any benefit of locking BL aside from the disabling of the annoying "Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted" warning when booting. Maybe claiming for warranty....

Amazing! I appreciate your input bro. I'll root later tonight. Thanks again! :good:
By the way, do I need to download newer tools for rooting or I have all the things I need?
I bought a new Mi 8 / dipper and went to unlock the bootloader. Needed a bit of fiddling, but I managed to do it with some helpful posts here on XDA.
To my surprise, there was no waiting time to unlock it – even though everyone else seemed to have to wait for 160 or 360 hours. Even very recent reddit posts (just 2-7 days old when I tried to unlock my phone) mentioned that they had to wait.
It's my first Xiaomi phone and I created a Mi account with the phone to unlock it.
Does anyone know what could've caused this? I certainly won't complain, just wondering if I possibly have a refurbished phone or something like that.
I too bought a Mi8 and when I unlocked it was expecting a waiting period as I have read but instead it unlocked instantly. What I think is the stores bought a Chinese model cause they're cheaper, unlocked the bootloader, flashed Global ROM, re-locked and sold.

It is not possible to install global ROM on Chinese version and relock bootloader. You will hard brick your phone in that case. The same with Chinese rom on global version. Bootloader must be unlock to do that.
I had got the SM-G973U used a couple weeks back and have relentlessly been trying to find a way to install havoc os on this but the bootloader seems to be a big pain in the a*s I understand all the problems with it is anyone close to unlocking bootloader v5 though?
Man I was hoping for one response
