Hi, out of the blue, our Chromecast went mute. If I go into settings > system > restart, the sound will come back for a while, but shortly after it'll go mute again and I'll have to restart again.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Roy

Factory reset.
Mine is doing the same, lots of others on Reddit have said the same.

Ok, first off, I'm well aware that there are many topics that appear to cover what I'm asking about. I've searched them. Second, I know where the "Sounds and Notifications" option is, and have been there. I'll get to that further down.
I've had this issue since I've gotten the phone. I'm not entirely sure if it's due to apps installed or not, since it's been doing when I've had some installed and when I didn't. I have tried hard resetting my device as well. My phone will play the sound of an incoming text, flash the light, all that just fine... for the first five or so texts. After that, the phone will wake up, it will show the notification on screen, but it WON'T play the sound, nor flash the light.
Naturally, the first time I noticed this, I went into the options menu to see what was up. All the settings were right. I hit the play button to test the file... nothing. I hit it again, nothing. I hit stop, then play, and it started up. Then my notifications were ok again, for about five or so texts. If my phone is on vibrate, it's the same case. It'll vibrate for the first five or so, then stop until I go into the settings.
I don't have a clue what could be causing this, so any and all help or suggestions are welcome and greatly appreciated. Thanks.
So I've searched all over to try and figure this one out, but there's a lot of similar issues and none that I could find that are the same thing. The description might end up long because I want to be absolutely clear about what's happening (since there were a lot of really similar issues I found when I searched).
I have a Motorola Droid running CM 7 (.0.3, i think), but the problem was also there on the last version of CM I was running (6.something, probably). The first time I wiped and installed CM7 the problem seemed to be solved, but I screwed up the account setup and on the 2nd install the problem was back.
ANYWAY, the actual problem is this:
My phone's sound will NOT turn off. I can turn it all the way down with the volume rocker, and it will show the Vibrate icon, but the volume bar will not go down that last little bit. It does not vibrate. It does not go to silent. If I turn off sound from the lock screen, it doesn't do anything except show a vibrate icon at the top. The volume level remains the same. Same goes for the sound toggle on the home screen menu. It just doesn't do anything except change the icon to vibrate, silent, whatever.
The only way I can get it to go to silent/vibrate is through the Sound menu in settings. Even then, I can't just check the Silent Mode box, I have to go to the volume dialog box and manually drag it all the way to zero. Then, if I hit volume up on the rocker or turn the sound up in any other way, I have to go back to Settings to change it again.
I'm going crazy trying to solve this. I've wiped my phone. It doesn't seem like a hardware issue since everything is working except the switch to vibrate/silent from sound-on mode. I've tried everything I can think of. I've had the phone for almost 2 years now, and I'm generally good at fixing this type of thing, or at least finding the answer on Google. Has anyone had this issue?

A good way to try and debug the issue would be to install Widgetsoid 2.x(https://market.android.com/details?id=com.jim2&feature=search_result) and place a switcher on your homescreen with the different sound options such as silent and vibrate. Then, toggle those switches and see if your status bar icon changes, and if the phone is actually in vibrate or silent mode.
If that doesn't work then I would suggest to try another ROM, or perhaps it's a hardware issue.
Thanks, I'll try that and let you know the results.
Go to Settings -> CyanogenMod Settings -> Sound -> Silent State (check)
I am having an issue with my rooted, unlocked phone on 5.1.1. Every once in a while when in an app and pressing the home button to go back to the desktop I will instead get a blank screen. The navigation buttons are visible and respond when pressed (a gray background shows briefly when pressed) but don't do anything. I can pull down the notification shade but nothing happens when I press a notification. I can press the setting button but again nothing happens. This happened once while I was playing music and the music continued to play. I have to turn the phone off and then back on again to get it to work again. I thought it might be a Nova launcher problem so I went back to the default Google launcher but it still happens. As a last resort I reloaded the factory image, re-rooted and cleared all ther data to start from scratch but it is still happening. Has anyone seen this before or have any ideas what is causing this? It is driving me crazy.
Thanks,
John

It happens on my N6 a few times. Mostly when I had changed something.
For instance changing a language textfile of the nav.app Sygic. Or after adding custom Poi's.
Reboot solves the problem.
My idea is that it is related to caching or memory management.
Root N6, 5.1.1 LMY48i, FK r31, encrypted.
Disabled most g-apps;
Have my 7 plus exactly a week.
Specs as follows: Model TA 1046, Android 8.1, 1st June 2018 Security patch
I've connected my phone to my car system with bluetooth but everytime when I start the car the phone is connected to the car system by bluetooth but after 2 min de BT connection is lost when I look at my screen of the phone I see that Bluetooth icon is still connected but it isn't. I already forget the BT connection in the phone and in the car and reconnect but problem remains. In the manual of the car audio system they refer to change the bluetooth settings of the phone where you need to set keep connections always. But when I search for that in the phone I can't find that option.
Does somebody know how to fix it?
I experience the same problem. I have this problem since the latest update.
I recently got Bluetooth headphones and found that playback easily got choppy if a part of my body was in between my headset and phone, or if the phone got locked. I did find a solution to this however, and not sure if it would work for anyone that has Bluetooth issues as well.
It seems as if Bluetooth has its own app on Android 8.1, and due to this, it's getting managed by Doze or the automatic app power saving that's on by default. I switched off battery management using the following steps:
1. Go to Settings
2. Apps & Notifications
3. Tap on the option that says "See all x apps"
4. Tap on the top right hand 3 dots.
5. Tap on "Show system"
6. Scroll down until you find "Bluetooth" and tap on it
7. Tap on Battery
8. Tap on Battery Optimisation
9. Press the blue dropdown that should say "Not optimised", and select "All apps"
10. Find Bluetooth again, tap on it.
11. Optimise should be ticked, tick "Don't Optimise" instead, then press Done.

I've had the same problem after the Januari update of Pie.
Could not find any BT device anymore.
Tried everything that I could find on the internet, without factory reset.
Then I came across the Bluetooth Discovery app in the playstore https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.manjul.bluetoothsdp
With the motto: It's already broken, so what the heck, just installed it, opened it and .... there were the BT devices that were not visible from the BT settings in Android itself.
Connected to my car stereo and .... voila. Music streaming and phoning working again
I have been in contact with Nokia and they have said to try this
In the meantime, we can suggest you a workaround in order to sort it out:
1.
- Please go to settings > network and internet > 3 dots on the top > reset network preferences. Keep in mind that this will erase all the Wi Fi passwords.
- After that, please do a Soft reset: Press the Power button and Volume UP button simultaneously for at least 10 seconds, release them when you feel the phone vibrate and you see "Powered by Android" on the screen.
2. Check in safe mode:
- Press and hold the Power button.
- In the window that will appear on the screen, select and hold the "Power off" option.
- It will appear a new window called "Safe Mode". Then, press OK.
The device will restart in safe mode. An inscription about this will appear at the bottom left of the screen. After going into safe mode, use the device as usual. Check if the problem has disappeared. Remember that only preinstalled applications are available to you. If you want to go back to the normal mode, you just need to restart the device.
Just bought a unlocked G6 from Lenovo for T-Mobile. The power up sound (Hello Moto) could not be turned off. I went to Settings->sound->advance-> Power on Sounds and turned it off from there. I then restarted the phone, the (Hello Moto) sound still came out !!!
Do I miss any steps to turn this sound off ?
Thanks,

Weird, that's all I did. Maybe try to clear cache and force stop settings and retry?
Okay, will try that, thank you.
