Just bought a unlocked G6 from Lenovo for T-Mobile. The power up sound (Hello Moto) could not be turned off. I went to Settings->sound->advance-> Power on Sounds and turned it off from there. I then restarted the phone, the (Hello Moto) sound still came out !!!
Do I miss any steps to turn this sound off ?
Thanks,
Ching-Ho Cheng
Weird, that's all I did. Maybe try to clear cache and force stop settings and retry?
Okay, will try that, thank you.

Hey folks,
Weird issue today with my Moto X (locked boot loader, unrooted, totally stock). Earlier today I took the phone off the charger and all was working normally. About an hour after that, I took my phone out to check stuff and the screen is off completely and the phone vibrates every so often but at uneven intervals. I have tried every hardware key combo known to man to reboot and nothing gives. I'm hoping that once the battery eventually dies on its own I will be able to reboot (?) and this is some random software issue, but no idea. Anyone have a solution? I've already emailed Moto to see what they think. I'm in Kabul right now so no VZW stores for a few thousand miles.
Appreciate any input/help!
I have had this before, I however an not so stock and assumed that was the culprit. Have you tried holding down power until reboot? It should be like 10-15 seconds.

Yea I have tried that a bunch today holding the button down for even a few minutes. Nothing but a vibration. Tried volume down + pwr and same result.

If you can get to the fastboot screen you could flash the Verizon sbf firmware , did you try plugging the charger in ?and see if you can boot it that way

I plugged it in to a vehicle charger (where I am right now) and nothing changed when I did the button combos. I'm going to see about fastboot later on today but not looking good at this point.

I had the same damn problem on my Droid Maxx... It just used to randomly vibrate and vibrate and vibrate with the screen off... and used to get super hot and finally stop... Then i took the phone apart and guessed the LCD connection was bad so i just removed every thing i could and put it back together! And Vola it worked!!
Heard back from Moto - just going to start the exchange process. They didn't seem to know what was up with it.
Solved the same problem here
I just had the same problem and got it working with a fast-boot followed by a factory reset. As I didn't know exactly when it was turned off, I could only be sure about when it was on (after pressing power button and having the boot animation loading). Based on that, I pressed the power button for about 6 seconds to turn it off.
Having it turned off, I followed these steps:
1) Power + 'Volume -' for 3 seconds
2) Release Power, but keep 'Volume -' pressed until Fast-Boot appears
3) Search for (navigate to) "Recovery" by using only 'Volume -'
4) Confirm 'Recovery' with 'Volume +'
5) When the android robot appears (probably with a 'no command' message), hold 'Volume +' and, after that, tap Power
6) Go to wipe/data factory reset and confirm it with Power
7) Go to 'Yes', confirm it with Power and wait. For some moments it may seem dead, but it will be doing its job
8) After it is erased, go to 'Reboot system now' and select it with Power
9) Wait until it is restored by itself
I hope this helps anyone with the same problem
@infernox51 if you are unrooted and totaly stock, and don't have a hardware issue, then following the first few steps of what @claudioeddy posted should get you to fastboot and/or recovery menus.
If you follow through, with steps 6 & 7, it will factory reset your phone, erasing all data, apps, /sdcard, etc.
The only time I've had those symptoms is when I've flashed a bad LOGO.BIN file to my phone. In which case, I do what claudioeddy posted to get my phone to fasboot menu, and then flash a known good logo.bin. But if you are stock and unrooted like you say, then i don't know what to say.
If Moto will exchange your phone, that is great.
Thanks for the Solution

Man Help Me i have droid turbo
Hi
I need urgent HELP.... Its my new Moto G 2nd Generation which I brought around 1 month ago. I was trying to encrypt my phone using the option in settings. It went perfectly fine till it shows 100% . Then it got switched off and now no response. I tried charging it up. Not working. Then tried to get into recovery by pressing power button and Volume + also Power and Volume -. No change. Did I bricked my phone? What shall I do? Its still in warranty, so giving the phone to service center helps?

Did you enter recovery before? Look at the following video and see if you can enter recovery:
Thanks for the reply.....
Thanks for your fast reply. I tried the same method but it didn't work at all. I kept my phone at home and after I came back from my office I just plugged it to give it a try. I guess my battery was fully drained, when I plugged it charging screen appeared. A small hope came and I kept pressing the power button and Volume down for sometime and in between Volume up also. I guess Its my lucky day today, phone booted into recovery screen and I just selected normal power up option and I got all my data back. ..... You don't have an option to take your battery out and put it again. Other wise I won't be facing this situation....... Thanks for all.
you always hard reboot your phone by long pressing power button.
Figured I see if anyone else has had this issue. I went for a walk with the dog yesterday, and was listening to music on my Nexus 6 the whole time, and when I got home I couldn't get the screen to turn on. Music was still playing, it was still connected to my G watch, and holding the power button triggered a vibrate when the power menu opens--but the screen was completely black and unlit the whole time.
Had no prior issues, just wondering if anyone else has had this issue. Figuring I'll probably call Motorola as this seems like a hardware issue...
Any suggestions would be well received!
Try holding the power and volume down buttons together and see if the screen will come on when it reboots to the boot loader. Alteratively you could try to power cycle it by holding the power button down for 30 seconds. Hopefully Motorola will also be able to help you.
me too
same exact thing happed to me music pulled out headphones the phone still works but the screen is dead. I can pull to use phone and **** and have the same vibration. holding power for 20 seconds is a no go. tried tons of holding combinations it seems like I can get it to shut off and on may be but it's just not doing a reset that I can tell that reboots the screen.

you had an sod(sleep of death). it sounds much worse than it actually is. its a rather common issue as well(no fix). try using a custom kernel.

Hey, I had the same issue, i switched off the ambient display and after that the problem is solved. Give it a try, it might help. Go to Settings, Display, and turn off the ambient display .

My moto x is acting up. A little back story, my phone and I were thrown into a pool. The phone didn't work until I tried charging it, then it worked fine, for a few months, until now. It was at 70 percent or so, maybe a little lower. I was looking at youtube for some music when the screen went black. I turned it off by holding the power and volume down thing and I felt the vibration signaling it being turned back on. But the screen was still black. It vibrated when I pressed where the home button was, and I could press things and make the music play, please help my girlfriend is in hungary and this is the easiest and one of the only ways we talk. Thank you.

ok, watch this VIDEO
Hi,
I recently found a M7 without working display. When I try to power it on, the power up sound goes off for about half of second, silence and the sound with the pauses go off until the phone dies. Is it the bootloader issue or is it something else? Not sure if I can factory recover it and if I manage to do that, if I will be able to set it up.

Thanks!
