I have two Redmi K20 pro running miui 12.5.1 in Mumbai, India on Vodafone Idea network.
For quite a while everytime I sent a SMS the receiver would receive 3 delayed duplicate messages and I would be charged for three SMSs. Same issue on both phones.
Today I figured out the reason. If wifi was on this would take place. However, if wifi was off then SMS would go immediately and only one message was received.
On digging deeper I discovered that the culprit was Voice over Wifi.
If I disable Voice over Wifi the SMS is delivered immediately.
If Voice over Wifi is turned on then there is a delay and receiver gets 3 duplicate SMSs.
Since there are no further updates does anyone know of a fix??

Hi people,
I'm using my Kaiser's internet connection sharing via BT to my desktop. I noticed that during the ICS session and even after disconnecting, I am unable to receive calls. Sometimes after disconnecting it, a long while later I get sms notifications of 5 or 6 missed calls (this is provided by my carrier). I am on a 3G connection so in theory calls and data could take place simultaneously.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Only noticed this yesterday really. When I'm using some sort of data connection (so browsing the internet or on WLM etc), I seem not able to receive a phone call, or to receive a text. I thought that voice calls / texts would interrupt the data session so you could receive them. Even my old samsung g600 does that (although I didn't use the internet much on it, so not too sure how good that is at it).
Is this a known issue, or a bug etc? Or is it just how it works? It's very annoying.
Thanks
I am having issues with receiving notifications on time over Wi-Fi after screen was turned off for 10+ minutes. Usual delay is about 5 - 10 minutes. I don't have any problems with same applications and scenarios over mobile connection. These apps are chat and video call apps: WhatsApp, Viber, Duo, Slack. This is especially annoying for calls, because I just get missed call notification (after 5 or so minutes or if I manually launch the app), instead of a call ring. I ticked all of them off in "Optimise battery usage" section. Same behavior on Oreo and now on Pie version. Same behavior on my home network, my parents' house network and at my work place. Browsing, streaming and all other things over internet work, no issues with it, so the connections were good. I have SMN960F model, if that matters.
At first, I thought this issues are caused by Doze when the phone is in "Connected to Wi-Fi" state. I don't even know if Doze could distinguish those two states (Connected to Wi-Fi or Connected to Mobile). But since everything works just fine over mobile, I doubt it is Doze. Now I think it is something related to my Wi-Fi settings, but I can't figure it out.
@Japro
Did you ever figure this out?
Hello Folks,
I'm having a strange issue on WhatsApp, whenever I make a call on WhatsApp connected to Wifi it works just fine, when using my data connected to LTE network I see WhatsApp call coming in but unfortunately I'm unable to receive it means even though I press Answer / Decline call button doesn't respond !! Same thing happens when i call back, the recipient gets the call but they don't hear anything from my side.
I did check all the permissions for WhatsApp and its all enabled, this is driving me crazy. Anyone having similar issue? Any thoughts / suggestions ?
I am having the same issue. Did you find a solution to this?
I currently got a second hand xiaomi MI5 running miui 10.2.2.0 on android 8.0 from my dad. this issue didn't surfaced cause my dad didn't used bluetooth devices for video calling or calling purposes. but when i got it i tried video calling through whatsapp and google duo and the phone is connected on Wifi. when the call is connected the screen of the other person is not moving and the voice is coming in parts. same is for when i call thru a whatsapp voice call connected via wifi it shows "calling" instead of "ringing".the moment i switch it with my 4G data it shows "ringing"
is there any solution to this?
