With Fedora, you need to configure (setup) udev rules.
I believe Ubuntu includes their own list.

[Q]What Linux OS for developing Android?

Hello, my question is what is the best Linux OS to develop android for our lovely x8
According to the grapevine Google is using Ubuntu amd64 for Android development.
i use linux mint as my main OS. it works for me. especially for when im using android SDK and NDK in terminal. but you can use ubuntu. but i dont like ubuntu
I have used Ubuntu before as my main os, it was running quite well so I'll try with it, thanks.
Can't we just develop Android using windows??

Well... I think the question of the thread was:

The question was NOT:
[Q]What Linux OS for developing Android Apps?
Like it or not, but you need a Linux system to get the stunt of Android compilation done. While I'm sure that you can edit the source of Android in Notepad++ in Windows as well I don't think you can compile Android directly in Windows.
Normal application development can be done in Windows, Linux or OS X - the SDK/NDK is available for all three of them.

I had installed successfully UBUNTU with VNC but result was not one can use daily so removed in one hour, though good for experiment.
And our OB processor is not enough powerful you can throw Linux. Minimum requirement for UBUNTU is dual core processor.
Search UBUNTU on mobile, or UBUNTU;s official site.
cant we run win 95 ?

I don't mean linux on androi, I mean installing linux instead of android and I'd like to use Angstrom and if galaxy spica and gio can run it our OB will do it !And it doesn't requires prosessors clock and a lot of ram because there is no android, it runs along as native os.And i know about ubuntu for mobile, it runs on android and it is like a linux on android.

No.We can run linux because we can take android's linux kernel.Android is very low weight linux.
First we need just enable framebuffer console in kernel, this will help us with starting linux ::

Android is based on Linux, so what do you expect by running Linux on OB?
I don't have time to do that, so I'll just wait and see your progress then...
What will you choose? Computer with linux dis. or with android?I think with linux.

I was launched with apk i foger it two weeks ago windows 95.It booted 30 sec.mouse control was very hard and i couldnt access sd files.Than I delete win95 image and application.
Win 95 can run alongside android but if u want to make it your native os u must work alot to port it.And in this thread i don't mean runing any os with android i mean runnning linux dis. instead of android.
Any question about "4pda.ru" here: http://onlinecontent.ru/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2&sid=09bc3461206b22af1e5f924e0fc2900c

[Q]Can We Install different OS

Hi,
In my mind two question raised now.
1. Can We install windows OS to our Android.
2. Can We install Linux or Backtrack OS to out Android.
Please suggest your view
You can do it, but it's pointless. We have windows 95 (themes and apps section), but you can't run new windows versions because of the hardware. As far as I know, nobody got linux for our phone (except for android itself lol), but it should be possible.
Open source ...
All possible ....
just need Developer.

Xposed error when compiling app_process_xposed.

Hi everyone,
I wanna build old version of Xposed, for Android SDK 16-19, then have tried to compile Xposed fw for hundreds time but still failed.
Environment: Ubuntu 15.10 x64 | tools: JDK 1.6, libc6 ....
AOSP: JZO54L / android-4.1.2_r2 /Jelly Bean ("make app_process" have been run successfully).
My steps:
- Download AOSP into /opt/android/aosp
- XposedBridge.jar: Download Xposed Installer here repo[dot]xposed[dot]info/module/de.robv.android.xposed.installer and detach jar from apk. Put it to /opt/out/java
- Download XposedTools source from github into /opt/xposed/ then make build.conf file:
[General]
outdir = /opt/out
[Build]
# Please keep the base version number and add your custom suffix
version = 58
# makeflags = -j4
[GPG]
sign = release
user = 852109AA!
# Root directories of the AOSP source tree per SDK version
[AospDir]
16 = /opt/android/aosp
# SDKs to be used for compiling BusyBox
# Needs github[dot]com/rovo89/android_external_busybox
[BusyBox]

Click to collapse
- To integrate Xposed to AOSP, I tried following 2 ways in the instruction (local manifest and manual cloning)
+ local manifest: link [XposedTools]/local_manifests/xposed_sdk16.xml to [aosp]/.repo/local_manifests/ then run repo sync.
+ manual cloning: remove [aosp]/build; clone github[dot]com/rovo89/platform_build/ to replace; clone github[dot]com/rovo89/Xposed into [aosp]/framework/base/cmds/xposed
- Go back to [XposedTools] and run ./build -t x86:16
>>output: cd /opt/android/aosp && . build/envsetup.sh >/dev/null && lunch full_x86-user >/dev/null && make -j8 TARGET_CPU_SMP=true xposed
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
The result I received is a big "app_process_xposed" file (~ 270-350 KBs), it size is as many times as the origin app_process file (~20 KBs). I think there are somethings wrong. I open them by 7z and see some differences:

I may did some mistakes in these steps. Could you please give me any advice?
Thank so much!
Help me Pls...
Did you actually try the app_process_xposed you got, or did you just assume it was wrong because it was bigger? If you did try it, what did it do?

Android Studio Upgrade 3.4.1 Universal APK Option Missing?

Hopefully not too dumb a query!
I have loaded an (old) Cocos2d-x project (3.15) using NDK 17 into Android Studio which has just been updated to 3.4.1.
I am only offered individual build variants for the 3 chosen cpu options:
DEBUG - debug-armeabi OR debug-amreabi-v7a OR debug-x86
RELEASE - release-armeabi OR release-amreabi-v7a OR release-x86
I would like to build a universal apk so I need the previous options 'debug' and 'release'
I have checked any files changes and the only two are:
build.gradle
classpath 'com.android.tools.build:gradle 3.2.1
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
is now
classpath 'com.android.tools.build:gradle 3.4.1
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
and gradle-wrapper.properties
distributionUrl=https\://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-4.6-all.zip
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
is now
distributionUrl=https\://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-5.1.1-all.zip
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
I have NO splits (never had...).
I would like to have the option of generating a single universal apk as I could previously, i.e. build variants debug/release.
Any guidance gratefully accepted.
