I have a 2005 Acura RL and just ordered the head unit (bottom ) you see in this picture.

I also have the stock nav unit you see in the picture but mine is burnt out and, of course, they want more than I paid for the car to replace it with circa 2003 museum piece technology which will get you lost in your own neighborhood.
What I'd like to do is put a screen in on top capable of displaying nav, a backup cam feed, and maybe something trivial like tpms.
On the bottom unit I want to run my audio, climate controls(it's programmed to do that, and maybe some OBD2 supported stuff, along with time and weather.
I'm thinking it would be nice if I got a tablet or a second cheap android head unit and somehow found a way to have both connect to my phone for input while only porting the specific functions I want for each. I would prefer the android head unit or tablet option so I can use an internet supported gps function, as I've found Garmins often tend to be outdated on maps, or they're not able to interpret traffic delays unless you blow more than 500 on one of them.
Any ideas?
It's going to be a challenge getting all those parts to play nicely together.
You say that you just bought the bottom unit? Does it do Bluetooth or WiFi even?
Getting some tablet to fit nicely in the top will also be a squeeze.
The bottom is android 12 has Bluetooth and wifi. The top is big enough to fit a 7" tablet or specifically a Garmin drivesmart 65 height wise and just a bit wider than width wise...the playing together part is what I want...wondering if it's possible to slave a head unit to a second unit in order to parse functions between on the same phone data acct.

Hey xda team again,
Im looking for a dockingstation for the x1 on my desk. The only thing is it has to be in horizontal format. well, i didnt find any in the net. Does anybody know one? it doestn matter if it has USB doc, i just need something to place it opened on the desk.
Hiya,
at the moment there is no shop with a horizontal docking station
On SE-World.info there's a guide how to build a dockingstation Maybe in one or two months he goues into production.

well ive seen some selfmade variations but they look ugly xD
why dont the build one, i mean there is this great Holder for the car where u have a pivot function and u can even switch from horizontal to vertical etc.
this sucks :-(
I use Brodit holder, in the car as well as in my office.
Brodit have an adaptor (male/female sliding), wich let's you take out Proclip (the part that holds the PDA), from the part that sits in your car.
At the office, I have another female part, glued to a heavy glass photo holder, and slide in the Proclip suport. It works great!!!
Look for part number 213005 (2 females and 1 male), at www.brodit.com
Useful also for anyone driving more than one car.
well thats exactly what i meant. The brodit solution but actually its not the perfect solution.
hopefully they will bring out a REAL docking station soon...
So I wanted a stand but didn't want to spend money because I am broke right now. Had some scraps and some crafting tools laying around so I went to work. I measured it all out so that it doesn't stick out past the smallest dimensions of the Nook itself so it is pretty sleek. Added bonus, kind of happy accident is that all the buttons are accessible while in the stand and the speaker isn't being blocked so now I can use it as my primary alarm and it is plenty loud enough to wake me up. Before I had it face down with the speaker on the floor so I couldn't really hear it so I never used it as an alarm until now. The result was a nice looking, extremely light basically weightless and extremely sturdy Nook stand!!!
List of items:
1 Exacto knife and blade
1 piece of leftover foamcore or posterboard as some might call it
1 hot glue gun
1 leftover locktite
1 straightedge ruler
My final price = $0.00
This only ends up being free if you have these things laying around or you can get them free somewhere. otherwise if you have to buy any of this stuff you might as well buy a stand off ebay or something.

Nice! I just use the stand on the bottom of the box the nook came with.
Awesome work! Congratulations on your DIY stand!
Please post the measurements that you used

I haven't played any music through it, just sound effects to make sure it works
Will test and compare

Hello guys, this time I bring a review of a mini projector that is capable of taking up to 130 ", not with the best sharpness or resolution certainly fits but we will take into account that we speak of its price is only € 44, Which becomes an excellent choice to start in this world, since we can perfectly watch a movie or play games with our favorite console and will not leave us bad taste.

We started with UNIC UC 40 unpacking
As we can see, the projector comes very well protected, inside the box has as a rubber wrap. (And although not seen, also came wrapped with bubble wrap).
Inside the box we are first with instructions, a remote control, a power cable and a component AV cable (RCA) and the projector.
On the right side we have a sd card slot, hdmi input, AV input for component cable, an output to connect external speakers and two USB ports although one of the usb is only to power some device such as a chromecast, A hard disk etc.
On the left side we find only the power input, on the back side we have the infrared port to be able to control the projector with the remote control, on the bottom we find the speaker and a screw to regulate the height of the projector.
And finally at the top, we have the buttons to control the projector and these two casters that serve to focus the image and adjust the tilt.
According to what the manufacturer tells us. The life of the lamp is 20,000 hours and the consumption is only 55w. It has a resolution of 800x480 pixels and a light output of 800 lumens.
I'm going to leave some pictures so you can see how it looks.

Hello there!
I have a question, I hope I can be clear enough given the lot of context and specif terms I'm missing on the matter, thanks in advance for your answers!
I have one of these:
mazda 6 2013, rear camera, wheel controls (phone, vol, mode, assistant), bose sound (I think that is relevant in terms of hw such as can bus?)
I basically love it but I'm still missing e.g. waze, g maps on that little screen while driving.
I have seen newer cars that can be upgraded to android auto without losing any features; I was wondering.
- are you aware if there is any external "AA module" that can be plugged to the car radio and, e.g. upgrade aux port to wire my phone into it?
- if there is no such a module, can something like this be done e.g. by tricking the radio to somehow receive video signal (like the reverse camera function) from a AA dongle or the phone itself?

Upgrade car or buy genuine aftermarket AA unit (not aliexpress). Avoid adapters, they are junk.
Seek local reputable installer.
Genuine AA units defined here: https://www.android.com/auto/compatibility/#compatibility-stereos
thank you very much!
I'm considering those as well; however I find myself overwhelmed by the fact the unit has to speak to many parts of the car (not as many as with new cars, tho!), talking about rear camera, steering wheel controls, assistant button, aux ports and such.
I would still do it that way if I do not lose features (I would love to even turn the "assistant" button on the steering wheel to the real thing!)
