Question How to update after Bootloader Unlock? - Realme GT 2

Hey Guys,
what's the recommended way to Update after Unlocking & Root?
There's RMX3311_11_C.12 for Global Devices available, but it shows that "Extraction failed" when trying to Update, cause it probably detects the Unlock.
The File seems to be in the system drive under "data/ota_package/OTA/.otaPackage"
I don't want to brick my device, how can install the Update?
Local installation is greyed out.
Thanks

try sideload update

[MAGISK] Root your Realme GT 2
Pre requisites • Unlocked Bootloader (probably only Indian variant?) • ADB and Fastboot drivers (I'm assuming you've set that up since you unlocked bootloader) • Python (used to extract boot image) • Your stock rom (I found it here...

Help with up to date guide to Root

Hi,
Can someone concisely give the most up to date instructions on how to root the P20 Pro
Confused because some people talk about debranding first? Is this necessary if you, like me, just have a generic non-network branded phone?
Also.. Does rooting require twrp?
A bit unclear on if I should use the offical or unofficial twrp methods.
And if so does twrp prevent OTA updates? I was lead to believe that any OTA updates would simply wipe any root and you just have to go through the steps again, but would twrp prevent an OTA update in the first place?
What are the best instructions to root the P20 Pro to keep the OTA updates going (even if you need to reroot after each update).
Thanks heaps in getting through the confusion!
Here you have manual to root in simple 4 steps. You need adb and fastboot on your computer, bootloader unlock code and Magisk from link in post
https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...de-how-to-root-debrand-remove-retail-t3788326
Does any of the steps,
1/ unlocking the bootloader
2/ debranding
3/ installing TWRP
3/ rooting
Wipe the device?.. I'm assuming yes?
Also. What's the point of debranding?..
I think I'm on a generic P20 Pro that wasn't bought from a carrier - so is that step necessary for me.
Thanks heaps again for the advice - coming over from the Samsung world and maybe I'm so used to the rooting methods there
Also do any of those steps prevent OTA updates?
Or is there somehow to still use OTA updates but simply need to reapply root on every occasion there is ah update?

Unlocking the bootloader will wipe your device. The other steps won't.
You need to have TWRP installed in order to be able to flash Magisk (for Root), and no you don't have to rebrand if you don't want to. You'll still be able to receive and download OTAs but if TWRP remains installed on your phone it won't be able to install unless you change back to the stock recovery. However there is methods to update with TWRP and you'll be able to get and install updates quicker than waiting for them to be pushed to you phone. That's the main reason people rebrand because generic European models are getting updates the fastest.
What's your device model and current firmware version from 'About Phone' in settings?

Thanks heaps for the advice - makes sense now!
I'm using the model CLT-L29 on C636 which I think is the Asia Pacific model.. And incidentally just received a OTA upgrade to the 128 firmware
.. So in order to receive OTA updates you simply have to change back to the stock recovery after using TWRP to install magisk and root?
But I imagine every time the OTA update occurs it wipes root?.. Which would mean reinstalling TWRP to regain root and doing the whole process again every time?

Yep you got it in one lol
The other option so that you don't have to flash TWRP then back to stock recovery each time is when you receive an OTA is download the same firmware (Full-OTA version) from Firmware Finder - you would just need the update.zip - then using Huawei update extractor you can extract the ramdisk.img Then copy the ramdisk.img to your phone, use Magisk manager to patch it then copy it back to your PC and flash it via fastboot. But I think this is more work than flashing between TWRP & stock recoveries haha

[Root][Magisk] Honor 10 - COL-AL10 (C675)

Hi All,
I found some people have lost Volte on their Honor 10 phones by flashing LastStandingDroid's img. (which may not be compatible with devices in India)
Below are the versions which you can use for India.
Installation :
1. Download the attachment and place it in the same directory as your fastboot.
2. Make sure that you have unlocked the bootloader.
3. Run :
Code:
fastboot flash ramdisk col_al10_magisk_120.img
OR
Code:
fastboot flash ramdisk col_al10_magisk_131.img
OR
Code:
fastboot flash ramdisk col_al10_magisk_140.img
OR
Code:
fastboot flash ramdisk col_al10_magisk_150.img
4. Install Magisk Manager
5. Install Magisk using Magisk Manager just to be sure.
(Please click on Thanks button instead of posting 'Thanks' as a reply. Helps keep the thread clean ! )
**WARNING** : I WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO YOUR DEVICE.
PLEASE DO NOT FLASH IF YOU ARE UNAWARE OF WHAT YOU ARE DOING
**Disclaimer**
The patches have been created using Magisk. So BIG THANKS & Credit goes to Magisk Team for working hard and being so cool !
Can I flash this on 131 version. I just got updated to this version today or this is only for older versions?

This should be for 8.1.0.120.
Btw, I didnt get any notification for 131 update. Have they made any changes to Ramdisk ? If yes, then its better not to flash. If there is no changes in Ramdisk, then you can flash.
I'm talking about the update details in attachments

Not getting root access even after flashing the image !! what are the steps, just in case i'm missing something here? Unlock Bootloader -- > Flash image via fastboot ---> reboot

You also have to download and install Magisk Manager. Without it you wont get root.
Unlock Bootloader -> Flash image via fastboot --> Reboot ---> Install Magisk Manager --> Install Magisk using Magisk Manager again just to be sure.

Use LastStandingDroid's img in the other thread. This Image is for COL-AL10.
but you need something to do all this to install the magisk when then in reality you have created absolutely no rom that can be alternative I have equally valid nor a kernel that can increase the performance or eventually the battery life?
Just got the GPU turbo update (140) in India.
Will it work On the 140?
Edit : also, isn't it is easier to flash twrp first and then flash magisk(official one, no modifications) itself?
How do I get the code to unlock the bootloader?

Not officially anymore.
You can try dc unlocker, HCU client, Chimera tool, sigmakey, all paid though

Purchase dc unlocker credit, use via hcu client.check in honor 7X section, there is a detailed guide on this.
Edit- there is some good news. Huawei is giving BL code for limited devices.

And for the Russian model it is fashionable to install a magisk?

Can you try and let me know if it works on 140 ?
The above method is for rooting while keeping your default recovery for OTA.

I'm already rooted and using with twrp. During my time there was no source for my Indian ramdisk so couldn't able to back my recovery .
I root it via tool call " Huawei team mt multi tool".
The thing is I wanted to keep my default recovery also but firmware Finder didn't have any full firmware that time. Now, somehow I pull the latest 142 firmware for Indian version, if you want for 142 I can make a patch magisk if you want to use that's it

Please do upload so everyone can use. I still am not able to get the latest firmware to patch.
I received my unlock code some time when they were giving away unlock codes but haven't done anything with it. Is the code still valid?
*Tried it out myself and it still works.*

How to Root LG G6 H872 on Android Oreo

Hi everyone! I recently bought a LG G6 H872, which still has 10e installed. After crawling the forums for a bit, here's the sequence of things I wanted to do to it:
1.) Update to 8.0 Oreo via OTA.
2.) Unlock bootloader
3.) Root and TWRP using this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-g6/how-to/root-h872-to-including-11g-t3775518
4.) Magisk
Is the latest Oreo update the 20a version that is mentioned in the thread or should I manually update it to something older. I saw that there was anti-rollback so I don't want to update too far. Also, if there is ever another OTA, how does one update the rooted phone?
Edit: I wrote up some steps if it helps you on this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77513501&postcount=4
I do not believe there is currently a way to root the T-Mobile versions.

That is not correct, see: https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-g6/how-to/root-h872-to-including-11g-t3775518
For future people who come across this thread, here are the steps I took to root this phone:
1.) Factory reset and then update device via OTA incrementally until 20a (which is Android Oreo 8.0)
2.) unlock bootloader: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpaW0-8-QKY
3.) root device: https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-g6/how-to/root-h872-to-including-11g-t3775518
Note: there is a video tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-z4CWLikPcI&t=821s. The first steps of flashing the laf partition are very useful to watch before attempting
4.) Factory reset in TWRP
5.) Reset after encryption error, then wipe with TWRP. May give mount error.
6.) Boot into Android Oreo. Device is not yet rooted at this point.
6.) Flash MAGISK via TWRP (SD card or ADB push) ]. Ignore the mount error. Reboot.
7.) Device is rooted! :good:
That's interesting
Without getting into an issue those steps look slightly different in order than the original process.
Or I'm a dumbass and somehow got it out of order. Seems ok now though.
Hello there!
I want to ask if it's the same to do the steps with 20e ?
Curious as well if this works with the latest update.

This is an already rooted version of the latest update. I've downloaded but haven't flashed it yet, but the op is good and I've never had an issue with his work.

I succeeded in completing the process.
Permanent unlock from Tom via app.
Unlocked bootloader.
Twrp installed to recovery, can boot to recovery via low volume/power button combo.
Magisk installed.
20a working nicely.
I'm getting requests from Tmo to update from 20a to 20d. Is this recommended? Will twrp, root, unlock, etc. be lost?
I am glad to see that the bootloader gets unlocked easily. @alliance1975 how did you go from Unlocked bootloader step to Twrp installed step? That is the big one I think.
There is a good TWRP available, but we can't install it because the phone lacks fastboot commands. Is there a way to install TWRP? Or is it really that the only method is the rather risky runningnak3d method?

I used the procedure summarized in step 3. I agree it is risky, well, the riskiest root & twrp I've ever tried. I neglected to say I only read instructions, the dev who actually came up with the plan deserves all the credit.
When I try to oem unlock nothing happens. What can I do? I have followed all other instructions.
Follow steps from this https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-g6/how-to/unlock-bootloader-tmo-t3578099
Yeah I got my bootloader unlocked

You said you successfully downgraded?
Then you didn't need HiSuite (and TWRP) - just WiFi and SIM card to start receiving OTA back to Nougat
And no need to open new thread each time
What was exactly full model/cust/build name from Settings/About of your running system (you didn't provide it in the first thread before downgrade, neither now?!
Flashing TWRP, downgrading/upgrading and now unbricking (?) depend on that - did you downgrade and had it working EVA-L09c432b182 or what?
And TWRP for MM is different than for N

Android 6 doesn't mean anything for your question why it doesn't upgrade to Android 7.
And again, you are not answering what is the full build name (incl cust) and number of your build as in Settings About - but if you don't mind about reading it...
If you are sitting on eg c900, you will never ever receive any upgrade.
Also, for OTA you must have WiFi but also a valid SIM card.

Issues with unlocking WW version

Hello All,
First of thanks for writing all the helpful guides to unlock and root the RogPhone. I just got my new Rogphone 3 and I am trying to unlock the bootloader to root it and install Xprivacy mods to have a better control over of my privacy. Being a first timer I had certain questions that I wanted your answers on.
1. I am running software version WW_17.0823.2009.99.
2. I have unlocked my bootloader. That means I will not get OTA updates. Is there a way to side load and update these fixes?
3. How is ROM support for Rogphone in general? I get that this phone is relatively new and it will take some time to get other ROMs but I was wondering about the general trend
OTA updates not possible once bootloader is unlocked.
However, thereafter updating to the latest WW firmware is easy. Just download latest WW FW on to the root of Internal Storage folder of your phone (as is, don't change name); this file should be detected automatically and prompt you to update.
Custom ROM development for ROG3 is unfortunately non-existent at the moment. I hope this changes soon.
Ah! did not know this trick! Can I also use the TWRP to flash it? Will it be the same?
I am not sure about flashing WW .zip updates via TWRP on Android 10 (I don't think it's possible) - It's better to enquire in this forum's TWRP thread @ Captain_Throwback.
