Used to have dual app on miui for years. About half year ago, all of a sudden that the dual app (WhatsApp, wechat, etc) cannot access storage anymore. So I cannot see the photos in the chat - I still saw the thumbnail but could not open it to see the details. Moreover, I will get a "SD card has been removed" error message when I tried to send photos in the chat.
I remembered that I used it for so long, so it must be working in miui 12. Is there any big change to the os for some reason? How can I get around this issue? Thanks.

There are a couple issues I am seeing here.
1. No POP notifications - not the icon on the icon bar, and not the notification sound which I have assigned. (The mail downloads most of the time, but no notifications at all.)
2. I am at times getting "not enough space to download this mail" messages even though it is a new phone and I am pretty sure there is a lot of space left. I exchanged my previous phone today and this is a brand new phone with the same issue!!
Notes:
My previous phone had this issue with 1.5, and I upgraded to 2.1 and the issue persisted.
Also this occurs whether there is a memory card in the slot or not. (also the mem card is not full)
Now the new Hero which I got today has the same issue...
Any ideas? Anyone know how to check the available internal mem space? And how could it have gotten full in 2 hours of use anyway? My other heros have more apps and no such issues.
Thanks!
MENU>SETTINGS>scroll down to: >SD & phone storage>SD card ( will show total space on card, next line down will show Available space left.
Can't help you with your other problem Mate, sry!!

1. - Using HTC mail app - Settings - Notifications - Make sure they are checked
2 - Are you trying to download a sh!t load of messages? What are the settings you have set in the mail app?
Photo Uploads Don't WorkWhenever I try to upload photos through the built in photo uploading app (it doesn't matter what service I try to upload to) the photo fails to upload, giving an "Upload error" notification. When the notification is clicked I get the following error: "Can't send response now. Data services are unavailable."
I've seen some people mention doing a full factory reset (on other Motorola DROID phones) and this possibly fixing the issue, but I would definitely like to avoid this at all costs.
Additionally, and this may or may not be related, my phone has trouble syncing with verious social networks at various times.
Stuff I've Tried Already
I have tried on both WiFi and 3g (both connections work fine for everything else)
I have updated my roaming with *228
I have tried a factory reset
Data Manager is not set to Wait for WiFi to upload
I have tried removing and re-adding the accounts
Nevermind. Removed all that stuff anyway.

OMg i hated that!!! mine does that from time to time!
I have noticed that happening from time to time with dropbox, and also a problem where it uploads t the main dropbox directory rather than my selected directory. I noticed that it appears to happen when the phone is running low on RAM.
Based on the behavior of the gallery app and dropbox app, I believe what is happening lies in how Android manages memory. There is a good article about this over at Android Central but essentially Android allows for different classifications of apps. As Android system runs out of RAM, it will start shutting down apps and running processes based on this priority system.
So, what I believe happens is that when you select a picture in the Gallery app, then switch over to your uploaded (or vice versa), the phone runs out of RAM and closes the original app. Once you select the upload location (or the desired pic in the vice versa scenario), that app will look for a handoff from the first app, however that first app was closed by the system due to low memory. I am basing this on conjecture, but I have observed dropbox or the gallery app appear to "reload" after I switch between the two.
The low RAM is my major gripe about the Droid 3. Moto's custom skin, along with all the VZ bloat, appears to somehow eat up a ton of RAM (perhaps there is bloatware that runs in the background" which would be OK if the Droid came with 768mb or 1gb of ram. I wish there was a way to add ram after the fact.
I've never experienced this but I never use the native uploading app in Motorla gallery either. I tend to steer clear of the account setup in android and download apps from the market instead so i can control the data transfer and how all my interactions with my albums go a little more specifically. All that to say i use photobucket and have never had this error using the photobucket app on the market.
This problem was not a memory management problem, and had something to do with motorolas servers. It seemed to be fixed last time I checked

Hello,
Since a few days, my phone always give me this error : "Low on space: Phone storage space is getting low".
At the beginning, I deleted one or two apps. But the problem come back every day. At this point, I deleted all the apps I downloaded before. I have cleared the cache, cleared data of most of apps, deleted some SMS, some emails. Still have this problem. I cannot even install "Titanium Backup" to save some datas before to format the phone. I cannot do anything except answer the phone...
Does anybody know what can I do to fix this ?
Thanks in advance.
Someone else had this issue and IIRC it was contact photo's taking up a large amount of space or something?
Do you have rather a lot of contacts perhaps (i.e. several hundred)?
I have maybe ten photos. Less than one hundred contacts. And I haven't added many things recently. The only thing I have a lot is emails, on my GMail app and my Mail app, but after I have deleted many, nothing changed.
The weird thing is that the error message always come back a few hours after I clear some space. I don't get more emails or SMS during that time, it's like a ghost app is eating my space disk all the time. (This morning, after I have deleted all my emails, 5.34mb available. 10am : 5mb. 11am . 4.95mb. No SMS, no calls, nothing during that time.)
What does it say if you go to Settings -> Aplication -> Manage Applications.
Look at the bottom it says how much is used and how much is free.
You could move stuff to your SD Card to free some space on the Phone.
I have checked "Settings -> Application -> Manage Applications" but the total used and the total free is not displayed at the bottom.
I wish I could move something to the SD card, but except 50 photos, my SMS and Angry Birds, I have already deleted everything. Anyway, I appreciate the help.
I would do a Factory Reset and see if that solves the problem.
Finally it's what I did. After that, I installed the "Android Revolution HD" rom, and now, everything is working fine.

probably because when u installed the rom, u did super wipe?
Hi everyone, I'm new here so apologies if this is in the wrong forum.
Basically, I have a Sony Xperia T running Jelly Bean, and which is rooted but does not have any kind of recovery (like CWM) installed. Two days ago I suddenly began to have a few problems at the exact same time, which I'm sure are related somehow:
1)When I try to take a screenshot I get the message "Couldn't capture screenshot. Storage may be in use".
2) When I went to see my pictures in the 3rd party "Gallery KK" app (not a fan of the stock "Albums" app), none of the images on my internal or external SD card were there, yet they are clearly visible in Total Tommander file explorer and QuickPic.
3) Similarly, when I tried to set an alarm, there were no ringtones available. I went to their directory via Total Tommander and couldn't find them anywhere.
4) Finally, I thought of moving all my pics from my phone to my PC and back to try and fix the problem. However, now my PC won't recognise my phone at all- both in My Computer and in Sony PC companion. I'm running Windows 8.1 and have never had this problem before.
What's strange is that almost all the solutions I've looked for online have said to clear the data from the Media Storage app. However, when I go into Settings >> Apps , there is no sign whatsoever of anything called Media Storage.
I've tried using 3rd party 'rescan media' apps but they haven't worked either. Please let me know what may be causing these issues, since they were very sudden and have been causing a lot of frustration. Thanks
if this happen to u after using CM rom, try to clear internal storage
Since moving to the Note 9 I have been having issues with Google Photos backing up to my Google account. It has been working perfectly for years on my Note 8, Note 5, etc...
Now, on the Note 9, the backup sticks at "Getting ready to back up" until I go into a folder that backup is enable on and toggle the option off then back on. This makes the application begin the backup. I have it configured for High Quality but it did the same when I tried Original quality settings.
I initially though it was a problem with photos that I moved over from my Note 8, but I cleared out all of my on device photos and it is still having this same problem. I tried all the usual steps of clearing Photos cache and data. Uninstall and reinstall, clear Play Services Cache and data. I haven't performed a factory reset, but I don't feel like taking the time to reconfigure everything for something that might not even work.
Does anybody else have this problem also?
No issues. Did you disable any services?
Photos works fine on my 960F/DS...
Yes and I can't figure out how to solve the problem. What have you found?

Hello,
I have similar issue on a French SM-N960F/DS (Dual Sim)
Somehow, the Google Photos App is stuck while retrieving my Photos (from Google Web Server) an I can only view a couple of them (the most recent ones), without being able to scroll down and view the older ones.
Also when taking photos, it wont upload them
And finally if I try to toggle the switch (for backup) inside one directory, I have a popup asking me to first enabe Backup and Sync in Google Photos Apps, which is ALREADY enabled.
I suspect this is linked to the SD Card.
I removed it (just unmount it is sufficient, no need to physically remove it) and I reconfigured the Native Samsung Photo App to store all photos on the internal memory.
And now Google Photos Apps is just working fine. Full access on old pictures and proper upload.
EDIT1:
I have RE-mounted the SD Card without changing the Samsung Photo App settings, which means all taken Pictures are still stored on the Internal Memory.
By doing so, when I get into the Google Photos App, I see the new picture, and I see that there is "1" new photo to be uploaded on the upper right corner, but it is stuck there. The round icon keeps circling and it never gets uploaded (I cannot see the new Picture on the Google Photos website from my laptop)
If I Unmount the SD Card again, then the new Picture gets properly uploaded and the App is not stuck.
There is definitively an issue with the SD card.
This is quite annoying as I store lots of TV Series on my SD Card, hence I have it always inside the Phone.......
EDIT2:
I have formatted the SD Card from the Phone menu and now it works fine , even if the Card is present.
EDIT3:
I have copied back 10x MKV Files onto the SD Card (while Note9 was connected to laptop), and now the problem re-appears. If I delete the directory containing these MKV, back to normal, functioning fine.....
Then I tried to configure the Samsung Photo App to store taken pictur on the SD Card. In that case, the Google Photos App is correctly synching the new picture.
So now I'm more thinking there is an issue with some of the files stored on the SD Card. This card had been used for +2 years on a Galaxy Note 4 without issue. I do think the Note 9 might have a flaw while handling content from the SD Card.... ?
EDIT4: SOLVED
I just simply put a text file called ".nomedia" inside the directory containing the MKV files and VOILA
Hope that helps someone else

Evening
I also had the same issue since I got my Note 9, photos was stuck uploading, I uninstalled the App and cleared the cache still the same, upon reading your forum. I bought 512gb SDCard was working perfectly fine since PIE 9, after rolling back to Oreo; I unmounted the SD card closed Google Photos and checked the camera setting to make sure it was Internal. I opened Google Photos and it had already uploaded screenshot I took earlier and also seen in online. I then re-mounted the card by rebooting the phone for fresh install and worked normal again. Took a few screen shot's and google photos was uploading them as normal.
So anyone else check your card first, baffled me for a few day's
