I have a Note 9 and an iPhone X.
I don't need two phones but the one thing that is keeping me on iPhone as my "daily driver" is the Apple Watch Series 4. (Because although the iPhone X is nice, I much prefer the freedom and customization of Android)
The Apple Watch S4 is such an awesome piece of technology that provides a very polished and pleasant user experience. Quality hardware, smooth OS, beautiful display and absolutely fantastic haptic feedback for notifications and various interactions with apps and elements of the OS.
I really wish Apple would open up the AW for use with Android phones. I'm sure the product would sell like hot cakes.
If I were to choose one primary feature from the AW that I am looking for in an Android watch, it would be the haptic feedback. This feature is so underrated but it makes a big difference to the entire experience when you consider that every notification, alert, alarm and interaction with the watch uses the haptics to enhance the experience.
I also own a Huawei Watch GT which has a beautiful display and fantastic battery life but the vibration feedback is absolutely rubbish and feels so cheap in comparison to Apple Watch.
What smartwatch are you using with your Note 9? Is there any Android compatible smartwatch on the market at this time that offers quality vibration/haptics?
On a side note, do you think its possible to develop an app for Android that allows pairing with Apple watch for basic functionality like notifications? Why has nobody done this?
The Samsung Galaxy Watch is a good choice, which should work perfectly with the Note 9.
I have amazfit BIP watch and i am quite happy with this. But you know, this is more like very very basic sport like watch than smartwatch. It has very limited functionality if you compare it with anything else, you have notifications from phone, weather and alarm, and this is it if you think about "smart" options. Pros is very extreme long time lasting battery, about 1 month. And HR sensor, and GPS... but now i`m missing this "smart" functionality at my wrist. I begin to look for new one - maybe newest samsung smartwatch? What do you think?

I'm not sure what you mean by "high quality" I find the Galaxy Watch's haptic feedback to be subtle, on my wrist at least. If you want to go outside the Apple/Android wearable try a Garmin. Very good haptic feedback on their watches, not to mention my Fenix 5x gets about two weeks between charges.
I was in the same situation, certainly there is no smartwatch close to the apple watch in terme of haptic feedback, smoothness, hardware and features.
That said i bought a samsung watch to use it with my note 9, but the vibration motor is far away from taptic engine... but you can set long vibration in type of vibration if you don't want to miss certain notifications.
LG uses something similar to taptic engine in their latest phones, strating from the V30, but i don't know if they use the same hardware in their smartwatch

Thanks, that answers my question. The Galaxy Watch does not have comparable haptic feedback.
I have heard about the impressive haptics on the V30 and V40 but haven't had the opportunity to experience it because flagship LG phones are not available in my country.
The disappointing thing about the new 2018 LG watch is that its missing an HR sensor which for me is a deal breaker.
Has anyone tried the TicWatch Pro and Fossil Q Sport?
i'm using Samsung Galaxy Watch and a Note 9 (coming from XS Max and S4 44mm), no way to come back to apple

I think this haptic thing is a little OCD? So long as notifications arnt being missed what's the problem?
I'm using a gear 3 classic. Looks alot better round than an apple watch imho
I like the Amazefit Bip.
I can read text, HR sensor, Sleep tracker, steps. But my biggest thing is battery life. If I was going to have to charge a watch everyday or every 2 then I would skip it.
I can put this on and not worry about charge for weeks. I went 20 days on single charge and still had 45% left. but decide to charge it anyway.

To each their own.
I appreciate a quality product with consideration for the finer details. It does matter and it adds up to a better overall user experience.
Why should we accept sub-par or second best in the Android space? If we don't expect better and make a fuss about it, why would manufacturers bother to make a true effort to improve? I mean realistically, how much did the new Galaxy Watch improve over the S3? (Basically just 5ATM water resistance, right?)
I have owned an S3 Frontier a couple of years ago and I do like the round design but otherwise it really wasn't particularly impressive and certainly nowhere near my AW S4.
Anyway not here to promote Apple Watch, as I said earlier, I want to get a decent smartwatch to use with my Note 9.
I am currently looking into the Fossil Sport. For the more budget oriented consumer, that seems to be a decent product and apparently the vibration feedback is quite good. Just missing a speaker unfortunately. Anyone here able to share their experience?

depends on what you are striving for.
if you like the apple experience the you need to understand why you like it so much:
device integration depth. apple to apple
so logically to achieve something similar do the same thing: samsung to samsung, LG to LG ...etc.
the minute you 'crossbreed' between devices you'll loose the minutia of any additional options and seeminglessness that intercompany integration offers.
haptic feedback quality is useless if the device integration depth is shallow.
I've been a Note Officianado for YEARS...and suddenly I'm being tempted by the One Plus 7 Pro 5G as a possible replacement!! I feel so guilty for even THINKING it...but I can't seem to shake that nudge of curiosity and temptation to have that "next new thing"! Somebody please talk me down. Tell me I'm insane for entertaining the sacrilegious notion of leaving the Note Family! TALK ME OFF THE LEDGE!!!
Give it a shot. If you're like me you'll come back at some point anyway (see my signature). Nothing bad in giving other manufacturers a shot from time to time, it's a good opportunity to understand where Samsung is lacking/needs improvement, and to realize all the things they get right and the Samsung features you're missing
I'm not a OnePlus fan, but the 7 Pro seems to be a pretty great device. They finally seem to take care and give importance to the small details and refinement their phones were lacking in the past imho (finally a great display, a better vibration motor, better build quality, the cameras seem better too, etc.)
If you really need a reason to not switch: The Note 10 will be an even better phone when it launches this fall

DITTO that...look out and hold out for the Note 10 rather...
S-Pen. That's the number 1 difference-maker for me. As far as a daily phone goes. It's always going to be a Note. Using an S-Pen to interact with my display has always been the most efficient and fastest way.
Im in the same boat after watching the reveal of the OP7P. The only reason i womt switch is because i know i will definitely going back to get the Note 10. The camera is essential and it still looks like the OP7P isnt better then the Note 9 camera.
I watched the launch, got all excited, then found out it doesn't have wireless charging and it's not waterproof rated!
Can anyone else say, DEAL BREAKER?!?!

IIRC OnePlus were avoiding getting it rated because of the costs involved, but were still going to make it waterproof anyway.

YouTube videos have hyped you up! How is it better than a Note 9? Only the screen's 90 Hz refresh and fills more space. Compared to the Note, screen is not as bright and run-time between battery charges is terrible! Then there is no wireless charging or waterproof. If you have come to like a lot of the features you get with a Samsung UI/apps, you will lose that too.... and no s-pen. You won't get Dark Mode until Android Q, while Samsung OneUI is doing integrated themes now. The Note 9 is about $635 right now, so the OPSP is not cheaper either.
Op7p has most of N9 problems such as curved screen, mediocre battery life and average camera. It also lacks some good N9 features such as headphone jack, wireless charging or spen. I doesn't make sense to swap unless you are bored and just want a new toy.

Not gonna lie normally I go for the latest tech. But nothing in the op7pro or even the s10plus makes me want to leave my beautiful device. And I shall be honest not even the note 10 will make me want to upgrade. Don't see the point no more. If it is working why break it.
No notification LED! That killed it for me!
Hi all, i m currently using oneplus 6t and i was planning on upgrading to 7 pro, because of the bad speakers, bad haptics and the screen is not crispy, it looks faded... But the 7 pro screen is curved which is not something i like and the rog 2 looks like a really good phone.
But i have some concerns:
- System: how is the experience, smoothness, responsiveness and will it receive updates/custom roms ?
- screen: is it good in colors and crispiness ?
- size: how do you feel about the size? Does it fit your jeans pocket and easy to handle ?
Thank you!

I have the 6T as well. Have watched every review available for this device and IMO, it blows the 7 pro away. I have had the last 3 T variants of OP and I can say that they are going downhill, from a customer service standpoint. The 6T is the last OP device I will buy, simply because of how bad they fukd us on the 6T. Fool me once, but not twice. The ROG has everything I require from a device and then some. OP just has gimmicks. Not to mention the OP community is toxic AF. Hoping ASUS will re-instill my love of Android, cuz OP killed it for me

The phone is great especially the speakers And haptick feedback.
The screen colors and clarity is all great but brightness is average compared to the ROG phone I hope it gets better in a future update.
In terms of updates you are looking at every 3 months security updates and hopefully 2 major updates. The 1st generation ROG which I still have didn't get an update to Pie yet till now and it's already almost 1 year old but I think I will be getting it soon. In terms of rom support I think the ROG 2 will be getting much love from developers than the ROG phone (Didn't even get 1 single custom rom) mainly because the first was expensive, didn't launch in many markets and wasn't marketed that much but it's not the same case for the ROG 2 I hope fingers crossed :fingers-crossed:.
I think it will depend on your pocket size personally I have no issues with it but the phone is tall, in terms of weight not as heavy as people make it seem to be. So no issues in terms of that.
Good luck, I for sure recommend buying it especially the base model because it's the best in terms of value for bucks. Good luck!

Initially I was a little bit upset that it wasn't going to be globally available all at once. But at the same time, it's kind of nice being able to hear reviews from people who actually own the device, making my decision that much easier.
I am also on the 6t. I'm looking at the rog2 for the same reasons. Like the specs, 3.5 Jack, led, huge battery. I have missed the 5t since I went to the 6t
Hoping the Asus gets the developers nod!

It's the vibration feedback that you get when typing on the keyboard, message or call alert vibrations or interacting with elements of the OS or apps such as adjusting the time using the scroll wheel in the Samsung Reminder app.
If you've ever used an iPhone, the haptic feedback is used in various ways throughout the OS to improve the user experience and it really does make a difference. When you type on the iPhone keyboard, you get a firm clicking vibration that nearly feel like you're clicking a button.
On the Note 9, its just a general vibration that really doesn't feel like it has any focus. It's not bad but certainly nothing special.
Apparently (going on some review comments) the Note 10 and 10+ have a new, improved haptic vibration motor and improved software tuning to take advantage of it.
I'm wondering how much better it is compared to the Note 9. (Which is my current phone)

In all honesty the haptic feedback motor used in the Note 8 and Note 9 are very similar in performance. So I believe that the Note 10 will probably be using the same one.

The review of Note 10 I have watched state it has a " new improved chaotic feedback motor", I assume Samsung has advertised this 'feature '.
I can't say I noticed it in the demonstration models I have tried
I'm debating for weeks now on which phone to upgrade my small Pixel 2. I love its camera but battery life sucks, even after replacing the battery.
I am able to buy a new Samsung S21 Ultra for 720 euros or try to import the new Pixel 6 Pro for 900 euros.
Which one would you choose and why?
Cheers
Personally I'd stick with the s21 ultra. If the pixel was a massive jump I might of swapped over but it's not great, battery is a bit rubbish. It's just ok...I think the s21 wins in more ways. Id like stock android though for sure
I would stay with the S21, other than stock android and a few software tricks it beats the Pixel 6 Pro hands down.
S21 Ultra any day...
Or the Pixel 6 if you are not into photography and don't need the extra 4x optical zoom of the Pro

I'm into photography. Love the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom that that I won on a giveaway 2 years ago and gave to my wife (features that she doesn't use, tbh).
But I've read that the S21 Ultra is terrible taking pictures for moving stuff because of the shutter lag. Is this true?
Where I live I can't get the snapdragon version, unfortunately.
Thank you all for your opinions.
I had the Pixel 3 XL then Pixel 4 XL because Google kept showing off great features that were eventually only released in the U.S. Call screening, call waiting, even certain features of Google Photos. They are doing that same bull**** about the Pixel 6 chip is needed for the eraser feature, yet the feature has been proven to work on older Pixels. They excel in camera/photos and new features but fail to deliver a whole package when it comes to phones. And they are the best in class for bait and switch tactics with their phones. As I mentioned, I got the Pixel 2 for call screening, and then they dropped the bombshell coming soon outside the U.S. The same with the Pixel 4, it's coming soon so I stayed with them. Now nearly 4 years later the feature has arrived, I gave up waiting.

They integrate more with Google, supporting Google Messages, Photos, Discovery, etc. But the are still niggles that I've had to get used to. The biggest annoyance is Samsung making screenshots part of the photos/camera storage folder so they are included in Google Photos backups. I am moving off Google services bit by bit due to them just cancelling things or removing free from things. You can use Android gestures for navigation so the switch was easier than I thought it would be. Everything Samsung say the phone can do it does and that is better than Google ever claimed.

I do not understand this question, it's basically lacking any base knowledge of how Android works?
"What were the downsides and upsides from switching from stock android from your old Pixel?"
Load or remove what you use or do not use, it's no different. The only thing is Samsung makes some cool APPS, that you can use if you like. Just like you can go with third party APPS from the Galaxy Store or Play Store. Running plan-jane Android is no longer some great thing. Wake UP!
I think many stock android comments go back to the day that touchwiz and other variants were awful.
That being said development wise you get a lot more than on the s21. Updates for longer also.
As I said though this alone isn't enough to rock a pixel

Maybe that's why I didn't get the question, I was thinking stock, and now you bring up launchers. All good, hey can't we just download and use google's launcher now anyway, on any Android? For me, thinking stock smooth, is just no longer a thing, it was, a while back, because of bloat and slow down, but today, there really is no such things, all these upper end phones are smooth as butter. BTW, I do switch and use Nova Launcher always.
S21 Ultra Pros:
- Feels more premium. Pixel 6 Pro and the iPhone 13 sound plasticy or hollow when tapped. The s21 ultra absorbs the touch. It's something you have to feel, but it's definitely noticeable.
- 10x Zoom. Wow. This is the only way the camera wins, but it's nice.
- Screen. I had a P6P and the screen is noticeably brighter, and adjusts to the lighting so much faster on the S21 Ultra. I can't believe how long it was taking the P6P to adjust.
- Way less Jank and is faster. The P6P had issues hanging when scrolling in apps. Nothing like this on the S21U
- FP Sensor. The fingerprint sensor is much faster on the S21U
- Heat. My S21U running games doesn't get noticeably hot, the P6P does.
- Battery life. My battery on my S21U has been better overall, but I don't know if that's due to only having the pixel for a little over a week.
Pixel 6 Pro Pros:
- Camera. Camera wins in every way besides the 10x. Samsung over smooths faces or something. It's ridiculous how good the hardware is and how bad the processing is on the S21U
- AOD. The always on display turns off in your pocket. No idea why Samsung took this option away.
Other Notes:
- I've heard the haptics are better on P6P, but I think both are great.
- I've also heard that the P6P has an older modem, but I did not notice any slower loading while on cellular in my testing.
- The charging time is reported to be better on the P6P, but in my testing they were similar.
I went back to the S21U. I just didn't think there were any upgrades that made it worth choosing the Pixel over the S21U as the S21U is better in almost every way.

Hmmmm. This is false. I own both devices. The battery appeared rubbish first couple of days. Due to Google's amazing adaptive battery, I'm getting around 10:16 min-ishscreen on time. That Tensor AI is the real deal. I continually become more more impressed as I noticed the device getting better and learning.
The smart features in the pixel 6 pro alone makes it worth it. I typed this entire message by voice, without touching the keyboard at all. The AI automatically inserted all the punctuation and deep learned the grammar checking all on it's own.
I think people underestimate how good pixels improve over time with Google magic.
The other smart features are incredibly convenient, intuitive and without getting too hyperbolic, amazing. Live translate allows you to literally translate anything anytime, anywhere with your keyboard or microphone. Being able to see hold times when you call ridiculous companies like insurance companies is downright cool. I recently got into a car accident and been having to call Geico repeatedly. One hour hold times. I'm able to see when those hold times. As soon as i preemptively see the call volume subside throughout the day, this allows me to make the perfectly timed pinpointed call. Call screening is amazing too. Telemarketers and Scam callers get tea bagged. Not even to mention live caption...
The smoothness and raw ui usage speed is slightly better than my s21 ultra.
The six pro screen is the clearest most beautiful screen I've ever seen on a smartphone. All videos and anything other than websites actually look like beautiful web pages with perfect clarity.
Additionally, The six Pro has just been released. Like literally just released. It's had only one day one update. As amazing as the 6 pro is, it'll even get dramatically better than it is now -- in the next couple months, with those updates. People forget how crappy the s21 Ultra or the 9 Pro software was on day one.
Don't get me wrong. I adore my s21 ultra. But my carefully calibrated and monitored opinion is the Pixel 6 Pro is better.
Now, if we're talking the s22 Ultra compared to the pixel 6 Pro, now we have legitimate conversation.
S21 ultra. the pixel 6 pro is hyperthetic

Yeah but I live in Portugal. Besides the fact that I have to import it from France or Germany none of those smart features you mentioned work in my language/country. Samsung doesn't make it those distinctions and their hardware is supported and sold all over the world.

Cheers

I bought both of these because I couldn't make up my mind. It was a very hard choice but I plan to return the Pixel 6 Pro for a refund and keep the S21 Ultra.
The software on the Pixel seems buggier. There have been a few times while using the browser that it just straight locked up. Mostly while browsing XDA. Stock Android is also very meh to me.
After using both for only a week I've noticed the camera is only marginally better on the pixel if you aren't doing any zoom shots. If you're zooming at all, it's not that great. I took a bunch of photos with both phones and both consistently looked really good.
The pixel is easier to hold in the hand and I think it feels a little bit more premium than the S21 Ultra.
I think the S21 Ultra may be better for battery.
Odd that the price difference is like that. Here in the states, the S21 Ultra is like $300 more than the pixel 6 pro.
