Question Any Teamfight Tactics players here? - OnePlus Pad

Android app sucks, not responsive to tablets (i.e. HUD is over-scaled and out of frame) and Riot games has no interest in fixing this apparently.
I've workaround this by changing the resolution to 1650x2800 which forces a wider aspect ratio, this makes the game playable but damn it's kind of ugly.
There has been reported success in modifying a "game.cfg" file, allowing Android users to modify the HUD scaling as well as graphic settings, anyone have any luck with this recently?

WP 7.5 Apps compatibility with WP8

Hello there,
I recently started developing a puzzle game in Silverlight and I'm ready to upload it to the Marketplace, only a few twinks here and there are necessary.
Anyway, the pictures I use for the puzzle are sized exactly to the screen resolution of the phone, 800x480(landspace).
What should I do to make the game look good enough on the increased resolutions on WP8? Should I just make the default pictures bigger to accommodate for that, or should I somehow figure a way to re-size the pictures depending on the platform without completely annihilating the performance of the app? Will dual core processors help with this?
Basically, i use an algorithm to cut the picture in 20 pieces and then scatter them all over the screen. The 20 pieces are now dynamic, they will re-size depending on the screen size and resolution, and the 20 crops are set to "UniformToFill" stretch. Will this be enough to fix the issue?
And another question: All pages seem to be limited to 480 x 800 size in the design XAML. How will this affect the entire layout?
Wait for official words from Microsoft.
i guess you would want to make game have several resolutions depending on the version of the windows phone, as it would be easier for the game to be compatible later on once the windows phone 8 launch on the new phones
The problem right now is that the pictures are scaled exactly to the resolution. I guess i could make an algorithm to make em fit the resolution, and take advantage of the dual core to do that.

1920x1080 in Webtop 3 (ICS)

Hi,
I been using the webtop 3 on my atrix lapdock and it is really amazing
I connected it to my 37" FULLHD LCD screen and chose 1920x1080 50/60Hz as my resolution but it still looks like 1280x720,does someone knows if it is even possible to output 1080p from the droid 4? (I have seen posts about getting webtop 2 in Atrix to output 1080p).
How does webtop 3 works in terms of outputing, since it is plain ICS there is no X server, right?
Is there any config files that I can play with?
It's just in the normal Android settings menu, though I can't remember exactly where, probably under display.
The option only appears once you have an HDMI cable hooked up, and I don't have one available right now, sorry.
Yep, under Dispaly you can find Webtop resolution and can choose 1920x1080 50 or 60Hz.
I see the option, but it's greyed out for me, for some reason. My TV supports it, but it defaults to 1280*720

I`ve just tried it again, connect to my 40-inch Samsung, choose Webtop, by default it`s 1280x720 - but I can change it to 1920x1080.

are you sure you don't have a 1080i TV and not a 1080p? webtop might be picky between the two.
This is often the issue. A lot of 1080i TVs aren't even 1920x1080 they are 1366x768 using cheap panels originally intended for computer use. See if you can find the actual specs, including the native resolution, of your TV. Or post the make and model here.
In any case the phone will be querying the TV for it's capabilities and offering up whatever the TV claims to support.

It's a 42" LG 3DTV from 2011, according to the LG remote control app on my phone it's a 42LW570S-ZD. As far as I can tell it's full 1080P with 100 Hz (so assuming 50 Hz should be no problem either, but it might be picky about this I guess?)
Maybe I should turn off the smooth motion thingy?
Edit: probably a TV related issue indeed, with my projector it works fine. I can select from the whole list of resolutions even though its native resolution is 1024*768.
Edit 2: Now the selection seems to work, not sure why. Maybe playing around with the projector 'unlocked' it, or maybe it was the smooth motion thingy. 1920*1080 seems to be a lower resolution effectively than 1280*720 for some reason, browser still says it's 720P so still need to search some more. Strange thing: 1280*720 @ 60 Hz works great without 'scale to fit' enabled, but same resolution @ 50 Hz doesn't fully fit in the screen. Enabling scale to fit make everything look less sharp, so the resizing algorithms aren't that great.
Edit 3: There's something very fishy going on here. It looks like it's always based on 1280*720 resolution somehow:
- My TV reports the selected resolution, but anything over 1280*720 looks like it's downscaled (horribly).
- Web pages always report 1280*720 resolution via stock browser, even when I'm in 640*480 and can clearly see the lowered resolution.
- Android Assistant always reports 1280*672 (or something) resolution, which is excluding the action bar I guess.
No idea if that's related to my TV or just a general WebTop issue though. The TV seems to respond to every resolution change, and shows the selected resolution in its info bar.
I chose the 1920x1080 all that I am saying it is that it looks like 1280x720 to me.
My TV is Full HD and I use it with my PC in 1920x1080.
Can it be that it scales the picture to be in the same dimension?
Same for me, and the phone seem to report the resolution being 1280*720 regardless of the actual selected resolution.
Also the downscaling algorithm is terrible, 1920*1080 downscaled looks less crisp than 1280*720 full resolution.
Tonight I want to try taking some screenshots, and see what sizes they get.
I was wondering if it could be the HDMI cable, but it passes 1080p just fine for other devices.
acipio Robt.
The chipset(OMAP 4430) should support full HD display and from what I understand on webtop2(on atrix I think) people managed to display the full resolution.
The proof is in the pudding. I took screenshots at 640*480 (clearly blocky when shown on TV, and TV indicates resolution as 640*480), 1280*720, and 1920*1080..
They all have the exact same dimensions!
The actual operating system is running at 1280*720, regardless of which resolution you select! It's resized by the output chip. Nasty nasty!!
(but understandable, else every resolution change would require some apps to restart, and using 1080p instead of 720p would be less fluid while most people can't tell the difference anyway = less customer satisfaction for Average Joe)
So we need some config file hack to enable TRUE 1080p probably.
Edit: XDA forum resizes the pictures, so here they are in full resolution (click the corner icon to view full) - http://imgur.com/a/2DuqK
Edit 2: Even for WebTop 2, it looks like Motorola never stated it supported 1080p - looks like 720p is max. But for older WebTop versions, a higher resolution could be hacked via the terminal, so I'm hoping to find something similar for WebTop 3. So far no luck in any config file or DB I checked.

Yes, without 1080p (or even 1280x1024) support I'll send back the Razr Maxx inkl. HD Dock BT Mouse & Keyboard. I was testing the Webtop 3 solution to connect to a regular Business Monitor (e.g. 19" and 24") to run a virtual Win7 Desktop via Citrix Receiver over that - but with a limit at (true) 720p this is no acceptable solution for me.

[Q] Gear VR on Airplane

Hello,
Samsung Gear VR is a game changer for personal media enjoyment.
Not only Virtual Reality that most people might not be interested in it but mainly watching movies in a true cinema theater environment.
lately, hostesses or nearby passengers used to alert me that the plane has landed and that people are out already while i'm enjoying the movie.
i never enjoyed traveling like this before.
the issue with the Gear VR, is head motion tracking, which is a great feature when you are on your couch or chair, but when the airplane or train or car are moving, this becomes annoying because you have to continuously re-align / re-orient screen.
i tried many solutions like disabling the gear service or avoiding inserting the note 4 in the gear usb plug, but then cardboard traditional software like AAA VR, side-by-side player, Kodi, and others didn't function normally like they do on a normal cardboard. in addition to that, the Gear VR cinema is an experience they can't ever beat.
i'm dreaming of a solution that will disable head tracking when on airplane.
"An airplane mode for Samsung Gear VR".
It would be nice if there was a Fixed view option to avoid this. Seems a kind of obvious option IMO.
Not sure I could use one of these in public places (planes too) since do not like being that out of sync with what is around me.
What about selecting the last cinema in the menu? Not the theater, not the moon, but the last one on the right I can't remember its name. I think it has the image fixed and it doesn't depend on your head movement
Keep pushing
It's called Void mode
For movie watching, some Chinese version vr glasses is better than gear vr.

what you want is "cmoar virtual cinema" (avaiable in the app store). its the only non-oculus cinema that actually is on the same level (and in some ways a lot more powerful) as mr. carmacks masterpiece. the only thing that is a lot worse is the precision of the head tracking, which is the usual cardboard jitterfest - but then, you want a head tracking free cinema, and cmoar virtual cinema lets you completely disable any head tracking in its settings.
be prepared though that a complete lack of head tracking also feels a bit odd. im not sure, but i think id rather deal with the occasional screen reorienting than with a fixed screen in front of me. after all, the only time where its really that much of an issue is when the plane starts and lands, and the occasional fly route readjustment. same for cars, once youre on the highway, while you dont always go in a straight line (which you very much do on the plane), you still keep going in roughly the same direction and can just follow the screen a bit.
maybe you like the fixed one better. having used both options, im kind of divided (but still recommend the cmoar cinema, be it only because of the other 346974634 features i wish the oculus cinema had). i guess the only real solution is long term, where headsets may track your orientation not only absolute but also relative to your body. you know, when that whole hand recognition thing gets big and all that

Agreed with Cmoar. It has more codec support, Youtube 2D/3D support and video LAN streaming. Worth the $7 IMO. I also use with a generic VR unit since the app has barrel and FOV adjustments.
It makes the Oculus effort so far seem very shallow, but Oculus wants to control content as much as possible, so of course no streaming LAN or Youtube in Oculus They are hoping people are too lazy to copy content on the device themselves. Perhaps a future update will stop that.....
yes, the oculus approach of trying to create a confined ecosystem is starting to get a bit annoying. doesnt go well with the whole early adopters vibe of VR at the moment. i truly think they need to open this up, but since theres not much outrage from users about this, this will probably never happen.
shame how times have changed, and how people got used to what once was something only apples IOS dared to do to its users.
just think about it, for the very same reason, we will probably never have the wonderful cmoar cinema running as a real oculus app. which is a real shame, cause the featureset of that cinema is truly mighty impressive. i love the oculus cinema for its smoothness and quality of craftsmanship, but in terms of features, it doesnt hold a candle to cmoar. cmoar is truly better in every regard except the usual cardboard app jitter (for which i blame the underlying google VR framework).
meh. not an ideal situation. i dont mind the whole early adopters thing. but to combine that with the restricted nature of a closed ecosystem from day one is really a huge letdown. i fully understand the motives behind it and would happily go with that, but thats a move you can make once you have lots and lots and lots of content, but not in these early stages IMO.

RIP Game Tuner - Game options in Pie? (Resolution and framing)

As Game Tuner has been discontinued I can no longer get some games to run at higher resolutions. They made an excuse of an integration into Game Launcher which now only lets you limit the frame rate and "lower" resolution without any specifics. It's hard without direct comparison but I suspect some games are being rendered at 1080p even when the screen is set to WQHD+. For example Real Racing 3 has this issue most phones I've owned, where the graphics are rendered at <720p on 1080p phones. On Oreo for Note 9 I could get around this using Game Tuner, and if I have performance issues I could also overclock the phone. Usually games still have sloppy antialiasing but I still prefer them running at full resolution. After the Pie update Real Racing 3 really looks awful since I have no control over its resolution. The third-party RR3 graphics app only helps with rendering quality, not resolution, and back on Oreo, it actually looked better at medium settings since there was less aliasing.
Also, on Oreo you could force a 16:9 game to run at full resolution in the navbar options, is there any way to do this in Pie? I can't find it in the game tool settings. Even though some apps don't have proper optimization, many of these still work fine if you forced fullscreen on Pie (for example Horizon Chase and Smash Hit).
Are there any alternatives for changing resolution/hardware performance on Pie?

The huge improvement to Bluetooth latency in gaming is well worth the update. There's almost no latency with most headphones now. I don't know what took Samsung and Android so long since my ASUS Windows 10 laptop doesn't have this problem.

The full screen option is moved to the "settings - display", search it there... I liked it more in the game tools, but atleast they kept that. For the other part of your post - I agree, a lot of missing features this updates, my biggest pain is the multiwindow that was literally toned down to the google default implementation and it's super basic and bad... then there are a tons of bugs or clearly rushed features and that's sad given how much months that update was in development.
Does not work for me with TSTO The Simpsons Tapped Out. Since Pie and without Game Tuner no possibility to launch it in WQHD+.
System settings are ignored.
I Found A Solution To Fix, But It Will Work Only Once. Set The Resolution To HD+, Then Launch A Game, Then Go To High Performance, Set The Resolution To WQHD+, And I Hope It Worked For You. Note: That Will Work Only ONCE!!!
You can use WQHD+ resolution in games by disabling Game Optimizing Service, Game Launcher, Game Tools.
You can search the way on web with 'how to disable galaxy bloatware'.
And yes, device settings - display - full screen apps is 16:9 <=>21:9 setting.

Casting (Google) Photos in 4k with the new Chromecast?

Hi everyone!
After I found out that not only Chromecast 4k but also Sony Android TVs with Chromecast-Built-In would downscale every static content to FullHD or even 720p (to let the TV upscale this again) I wonder if maybe te new Chromecast (with Google TV) can cast Fotos to UHD TVs in adequate resolution. Haven't found anything on the net as well as herein.
Any other idea to cast from mobile android devices to a TV (not limited to android) in high tesolution is welcome of course.
Finally found this in the google support forum and the answer disappointinly is NO

I really wonder what is the technical limitation for this in the year 2021
There is no technical reason why it can't display high resolution images. My bet is that their stupid fancy slide transitions don't work well at high resolutions. Try using something BESIDES google photos. You probably shouldn't be using that software anyway, since it steals all your data and uploads it to google -- pretty creepy if you ask me, just imagine how you'd feel if somebody YOU KNOW had software on your phone that gave them access to all your data!
Google Photos is just the most prominent example, as one might expect that google products should work together.
And I am not aware of any other cloud based app that can cast photos via Chromecast. The only solution seems to be via the Photoguru-App, but this just works with FireTV and NVidia Shield and not with chomecast.
I am using Google Photos for certain purposes only, but rest assured that I'm on my way of finding a differend solution for this, too.
