Question Technical Question re:charging - Vivo X90 Pro Plus

I have both the x90 pro and 90 pro plus. origin os. interesting question because I feel that mixing and matching chargers doe not charge at the max speed of charger/unit. so, given same cable length of 6a cable (or same cable) :
would the vivo x90 pro 120w charger be able to charge the vivo x90 pro plus at 80 watts? and would the 80 watt vivo x90 pro plus charger be able to charge vivo x90 pro at 80 Watts?
I also posted this on this website(
). I just feel that they dont do so.
Just food for thought..thanks

The x90 Pro plus never charges above 60w... (mayb 10 seconds - but surely never for a full minute!) - can easily measure this with a powermeter. This does not matter if switched on or off.
Also even worse there is no hardware to stop charging - go into bootloade fully charged and leave it connected - phone will get very hot once fully chargd as vivo messed up something there.
And yeah it's hypersensibl based on the cable. Some cable charging my laptop at 60 watts (max speed for my laptop - actually on a 65w brick) will only give 3-10w. Others are better and allow 20w (the max for 3rd party chargers)

Interesting. I was wondering about the message "fully charged, remove immediately".. I mean silly .. what if you want to charge it overnight.. I have to say (again I don't have a power meter.. yet.. ),the x90 pro with 120 watts brick charges so so quickly ... Anyways thanks for the feedback .. ps:both units I disabled smart charging option or the option that learns your usage etc..

in bootloader it's worse than trickle charge - if phone is on or off it's trickle charge - in bootloader it's like 6-7w pushed in that need to get rid via thermals. It's really crazy vivo saved some pennies on hardware charge protection (on third party chargers at least - maybe the vivo charger brick that I don't use because it's way too big for the power has some inbuilt protection).
But clearly even on the own charger there is no like charge to 100% - go down to 97% - then shortcut the battery or similar. It's a great way to destroy the battery quickly though.

Sony XAV-100 Phone Charging

Hey,
Recently i got this head unit installed, and have found that when using android auto, i either gain no battery life, or it charges very slowly. i have the new samsung s9+. i was just wondering if this is to be expected, or if there is a way to increase the power output from the head unit. i tend to run waze for maps and spotify for music.
Thanks
Crimson
i;m interested too in this topic
The XAV-AX100 has a max output of 1.5A. It can charge at 7.5 watts. This is less than the stock Samsung Quick-charge charger 15+watts and USB PD (also 15+watts) that you might be used to.
The Snapdragon 810 was so power hungry that my HTC 10 would occasionally discharge when using maps in the car, although I didn't have android auto at the time. Just a standard 1-1.5A cigarette charger. The 835 in the Pixel 2 is not nearly as power hungry and usually charges more than 20% in in 25 minute commute.
If your snapdragon 845 is actually discharging, and not just charging very slowly, perhaps try a 5v1.5A wall charger, and see if you can replicate the issues. It might be worth asking Samsung the minimum charging wattage, if the 845 is another power hungry chip.
EDIT: https://www.amazon.com/KiWiBiRD-Ada...580637&sr=1-5&keywords=usb+c+splitter+y+cable something like this with the phone plugged into both the AX100, and a quick-charger cigarette lighter might work. You have to look, they existed for Micro USB C. this one says it doesnt support charging for USB C.

Super charge and cable not genuine

Hello. I tried charger qc 3.0 but doesn't work at speed fast... I tried the genuine charger with a tested cable hi speed 3.0 and doesn't work at speed... Can anyone suggest a charger and a cable tested working lower yhan 10 dollars shipped??? Its incredible this price difference with qc that i bought both 3 dollars
Use original cable and charger ro charge at high speed... Other cables or chargers don't work and can even damage your phone..
(for example my umi fast charger usb C..
charges at 5+9+12volts)
With a cheap price always comes cheap quality.
QC 3/4 are not built for the Mate 10 series, they are built for QC compatible devices, while it will still charge the phone, probably at slightly increased speeds - you won't get the full power out of it as, its not meant to be used on a Fast charge phone (Fast charge / SuperCharge whatever Huawei call it)
Let me share something which I've found out recently. If you use a QC charger for eg. Xiaomi Type C Mi Power bank Pro which support QC 3.0 charging, my Mate 10 will display "Fast Charging" which is definitely faster than normal "Charging". If you use the Huawei Supercharge AP09S Power bank, it will charge at the max rate "Super Charging"
Huawei Supercharge is a dedicated technology just like qualcomm quickcharge. For it to work you need the dedicated hardware.
Most important: Huawei Supercharge phone and Huawei Supercharge power brick. Since supercharge features up to 5A current you will need a type c cable that supports 5A. Then you are good to go.
The Huawei phone of course supports standard USB protocols like 5V2A etc. But that's not fast.
Older Huawei/honor phones support Huawei quickcharge (what they used before supercharge) which is 9V2A. I think the mate 10 supports that too.
From my experience though the phone displays "charging" when connected to PC via USB. "Quickcharge" when connected to normal wall charger. "Supercharge" when connected to supercharge wallcharger (or supercharge car charger or supercharge Powerbank) via 5A (ampere) USB cable.

ROG 2 charge

Is it safe to charge ROG 2 with OnePlus wrap charger 30?
well I charge my ROG phone as I did with my Samsung Galaxy phone by all different charging sources. A Dell 18000mah powerbank, a Lenovo power brick/adapter, several cables in my car and at work/home and never had any issues. So I would assume it would either work, charge/fast charge your phone or not work. I mean how would you know what is safe or not safe??
When it comes to USB charging, the charger, cable, and phone negotiate with each other to determine the best/fastest protocol to use. If the phone isn't compatible with a proprietary charge protocol (like warp charge), then it all falls back to the best USB standard they are compatible with. So will it give you the max charge rate that warp charger is capable of? That would require some testing. Is it safe? Yes, barring any defects, even if it defaults back to basic 5V/2.1A charge rates or slower.

Note 9 Charges Faster When Fast Charge Is Disabled

I've been having a repeatable problem. I have a Note 9 that will charge faster when I disable fast charging under battery settings. I tested the load being drawn with a USB Power meter these are the results I got.
Using a USB-A to USB-C cable:
When QC is enabled:
Phone draws 0.5amp charge, 10ohms resistance at 5.02V.
When QC is disabled:
Phone draws 1.2 amps, 3.9 ohms resistance, at 5.02V
I am using the same cable, same power bank. The power bank's USB-A port is able to draw ~1.9 amps at 5V, tested using a USB Meter and Load Tester that will put the USB under 1 amp and 2 amp loads at 5V, with resistance being ~2.7 ohms without the power bank turning off. I haven't tested the power bank at 9V, I don't have a 9V load tester
When I immediately switch from QC to non QC, the results above are repeatable.
Things I Have Done So Far:
Reboot Phone
Clear Phone Cache
Reboot Into Safe Mode
Try Different Charging Cables, Blocks, including OEM parts.
Every once in a while, it will switch back to being able to QC fast charge but it is random.
If I use a Power delivery capable block charger, it will charge at ~2750mA (I dont have other numbers like amps, voltage, or resistance, I'm still waiting on a USB-C meter)
My phone's wireless charging has no problem operating at it's max capacity
Any one else have this problem? Anything else I could do before I factory reset my phone?
I posted about losing Fast Charge thru the stock cable a while back and got no answers or a fix. I have not tried turning off the option to see if it charges any faster. It takes almost 2 to 3hrs to fully charge at this point. I'll take any fix or work around at this point.

Turning off fast charge made my charging a bit better. With Fast Charge (FC) turned on, I was getting 0.5amps (gave around 400-500mA). Turning FC off, sped up my charging by 50%, charging at 1.2 amp (roughly gave me 800-1000mA; Both charges were at 5V). Im able to charge at around 1000 mA with this setup, a little less than wireless quick charge. No idea why turning it off helped.
Another workaround that brought my charging speed WAY UP, to 2500mA, was buying a Power Delivery (PD) capable block WITH A USB-C to USB-C cable. I can get normal fast charging speeds with that setup.
I cant get FC with USB-A to USB-C cables, which is frustrating as most of my charging blocks are the regular USB-A input port.
Hope this helps you. 2-3 hour charge is brutal.
What's even weirder is in my car my phone would barely charge. But since I lost FC at home, it started working in the car. So in my car I can FC but not at home. I even tried the wire I use in the car and still nothing. Idk what is going on
Is it possible that turning off QC is turning off a regulation in the software to keep the battery from overheating? With this regulation turned off that would normally be on when quickcharging, the regulation is not active, thus causing the battery to charge at a less regulated speed, causing charging to be faster? Maybe there's a QC bug currently that's hampering it's full potential? What software version are you guys currently?
I just checked QC on mine on the latest Xfinity version and no matter what charger or cable I use with the function, it is working.
It's def not a software thing. I'm on latest October patch. Samsung told me that they have seen some issue with the charging port and once it goes bad there is nothing to do but replace it. They told me to bring it in to a store for repair thru my carrier. Haven't had a chance to go.

That what I was thinking. Something is actively limiting the charge coming in. Everytime I had quick charge enabled I've been monitoring the ohms and the resistance would automatically jump to 10ohms. Then I disable QC and the resistance automatically drops to around 6 ohms.
I'm running Android Pie 9.0, Kernel version 4.9.112

Yeah it could definitely be hardware related as well, due to each pin on a type c charging serving different purposes. There are two specific pins(I think it's two), that are responsible for enabling higher input of electricity. Couple years ago Google made comments about the cheap Amazon knock off cables and why they failed after a short while. Wouldn't surprise me if Samsung cheaped up for the cables and port on the device. I'll have to try and find the articles I read concerning the pins.
Here's a good start to understanding Type C.
https://www.allaboutcircuits.com/te...pe-c-which-pins-power-delivery-data-transfer/
Its the **** cable they supply with the phone.
I had all the same problems.
I noticed that when I turn off quick charge the phone can charge at 5v 1.7 amps. (USB doctor).
When I turn on quick charge it can only charge at 5 volts 0.40 amps.
The phone is trying to charge at 9 volts but for some reason cant so it goes into this safe mode.
I purchased a new Samsung cable it lasted for a week and developed the same problem.
A hint when it develops this problem Dex stops working.
I tried all kinds of cables. One Plus 5, and a few others. I finally got it to work again with my wifes one plus 6 cable.
Im now researching USB Type C ports and USB standard 2, 3, 3.1, 3.2
As well the quick charge tech used by Samsung. Its not Quick Charge 2. Its a proprietary standard.
So if your having problems with quick charge it could be due to your cable or your Port. Things very rarely go wrong with the charger. Also get yourself a USB Doctor. Its a big help. And only costs a few bucks.
Hope this helps somebody out there.
Right now I am trying to compare Note 9 vs Note 20 USB cable.

Question How to enable 120w fast charging

Hello guys,
Since I bought the phone I was anxious to try the 120w fast charging, full battery in only 17min.
But, for my disappointment, I only noticed a fast charging if I let my phone charges alone, and it is not always!
Today I found out that there is a hidden feature in the Security app that allows us to activate Boost charging.
Do you know why this option came hidden and uncheck if the 120w is the greatest point of this phone?
It automatically kicks in for me. It should show 120W MAX on the charging animation and it fully charges between 17-20 minutes. But its a good practice for us 11T pro users to leave it for an extra 10 minutes to fully charge the battery and get an hour of sot

For me it only appears Mi turbo charge, it doesn't appears 120w max. I heard that is due to the global ROM I have
Mine is the global rom and it shows 120W max

Do you use original charger and cable? Only with original charger will get 120w

It's so weird so! I have a secondary charger but none of them gives me the 120w message.
I found a hidden option that allows us to activate boost charge. Tomorrow when the battery runs out I'm gonna test it

Yes!
Mine doesn't show the charging wattage on the screen but it does charge to full in about 15 minutes from something around 30% every time. I'm on 12.5.20 EEA
EDIT: It does show 120W MAX when connecting actually
I've got the 120W charger says "120W MAX"
and a 33W fast charger says "MI Turbo charge"
For me 120w works out of the box
Have to find the source but I read somewhere that 120w charging relies on what voltage the source is, there are some limitations apparently, I believe low voltage like 110v doesn't allow you to charge at 120watt.
For me it works from 220v I get 120 watt charging

Yes that's true, 110V outlets can only support up to 96W max
Any updates on this?, my phone (11T Pro) used to charge at 120watt, but lately the phone says "55watt max" instead of "120watt max" on the charging animation
