So my Mi 9T pro (6GB RAM 128GB model) started having charging issues a while ago. It stopped fast charging at first. Then after a while, whenever I put the phone to charge, it froze up and restarted. only then it would start charging. So every time I want to charge my phone, It freezes up, restarts and then starts slow charging. really slow. Phone is out of warranty so I went to a repair shop. They said they tried swapping the charging board. But the issue was still there. So they suggested I replace the motherboard. They didn't have any stock for this particular model. So I'm going to order one online.
My question is, I currently have the 6GB 128GB model. can I replace this motherboard with the 8GB RAM 256GB motherboard?? They are basically the same price. so I want to know if they are interchangeable.
Xiaomi does not release different ROMs for the same device with different memory config.
Releases are different per of course phone models, regions, MIUI versions etc, but there are no ROM zip files on the repositories with different memory sizes in their names
The same for custom ROMs
Don't know does the ROM check for the memory config at the boot time or when installing/updating the ROM
But when you change your motherboard you will nevertheless have to flash the Fastboot ROM (clean install option) - I didn't test similarly but pretty sure that it wouldn't boot with new motherboard (new chipsets with different keys, IDs, and so) but without reflashing

Hi, during some otg tests, I noticed that the mi3 can't use hdds at all.
In fact when I connect one I see that it turns on and that Android tries to mount it, but after a few seconds, the disk stops rotating and restart again after 2 or 3 seconds. I've tried only 2.5 inches hdds by Samsung and WD.
Now, I think that the problem is that the system doesn't give enough ampere out.. So I was thinking if there could be a workaround, or I feel I have to wait that Xiaomi releases the kernel source so that custom kernels can be done.
I have a T-mobile branded Note 4, which I purchased used on eBay about half a year ago. The device worked fine apart from having difficulty finding and keeping a GPS signal - which I didn't mind as Google Maps worked without a problem. In the last 2 days I saw that my Note had problem with charging the battery. The charging indicator would show up, but the "Fast Charge" option would not appear despite being enabled in the settings. Not only that, but the battery would actually deplete itself when charging.
At first I thought that the problem was with the ROM screwing up for some reason, so I went back and restored a backup, but that didn't help. Following that I thought that the issue might be the battery being faulty so I got myself a brand new battery, but nothing changed. Finally I determined that it was actually the USB port that was at fault. I had issues with software acting up and faulty batteries before, but never a broken USB - which is why I never even considered a broken USB port being the reason.
So, now I'm stuck with a phone that refuses to charge and can't even connect to my PC at all. I honestly don't know what my options are at this point. I don't consider myself tech-savvy enough to take the phone apart and change the USB port, but I'm also out of luck, because the phone is rooted and running a custom ROM on it and without a working USB I can't bring it back to its original state. I'm the second owner as well, so even if I was somehow able to restore the phone to factory settings I don't know if Samsung would honor my warranty and I'm on MetroPCS not T-Mobile, so I can't go through them either.
I'm wondering is there any place online that I can send it and get it fixed for a good price or should I just mark my losses and sell it on eBay for a lower price stating that it has a broken USB port?
If I could make some easy suggestions first. Thanks to some good moves by Samsung if you just buy an external battery charger you can swap charged batteries very easily. If you don't want to swap you can install a wireless charging back on your note and fix that right up. As for accessing the phone with USB you could get away with a Micro SD to SD adapter and just put files you need to transfer on that. Files can also be sent over Bluetooth and WiFi with our phones. The only thing that would be very hard to work around would be Odin flashes to new firmware updates. I will say sometimes you can hold it just right and get a connection but you need a stable hand.
For affordable extern charger with two extra batteries I recommend checking out Anker on Amazon. Any generic MicroSD to SD will work so go with what is cheap. As for professional repair? I looked over the daughter board replacement steps on ifixit and on a quick look it seems like the screen has to be removed making it a pain. Finding someone reputable to do it is really the biggest challenge. I hope the workarounds help and that maybee you can find a permanent fix from a reputable repair shop. Check locally, it is a common procedure. Good luck.

You can purchase the flex port (which has the usb port, mics, etc.) for about $10. There is a youtube video tutorial on how to replace it. Watch it and see if it's easy enough for you to do it.
Did you try a different USB cable? You didn't mention that you tried that. Some independent cellphone shops can repair your phone, but I don't know how much they would charge. Sorry If wasn't much help.
hi , I already update my p9 plus .... version 5.01 .. lately I saw while lock screen no fast charging appear .. any option .. tq
I had this about a year back, had to send it in for warranty (last month of warranty!). Got it back and it was working fine. Looks like they swapped out the internals, because it came back with different IMEIs (dual sim).
Tested it with Ampere (i think it was?) to check charge rates etc, and even different firmwares. Confirmed it was no longer fast charging (used several cables and 2x different Huawei adapters, same result).
Phone: Samsung Galaxy SIII LTE GT-I9305
Problem: It doesn't turn on or charge, absolutely no reaction
ROM: Stock KitKat 4.4.4
The phone had the stock KitKat 4.4.4 flashed by me in 2016. For about 4 years everything was ok, it only occasionally hanged up so it needed to be restarted by removing battery or holding volup+power. Also at the end the charging port sometimes caused little problems so it was a lil fussy about the cable. Half a year ago the phone was replaced by a new one, so it was shutted off and put 'as is' into the locker without removing the battery (was fully charged before). Few days ago, when I needed it as a backup phone it doesn't boot up or charge the battery - there is absolutely no reaction. The battery measured by micrometer showed 3.87V - I've fully charged it in an external charger. I also cleaned the charging port and folded back the pins in it. Checked with the multimeter the contracts looks good, the current is able to flow. Anyway the phone is not charging and nothing happens when I'm pressing the power or even the mode combinations volumeup/down key + home + power for more than 30 seconds. It looks like there is flowing a 0.11A current and a battery voltage drops about 0.06V when it's connected to charger and I'm pressing the power button. The power button itself is ok, I've tested it with a multimeter. Nothing changes when I'm connecting the charger directly for the pins for battery.
So I've checked on the web that there is a common problem in that models called "sudden death" so the memory gets damaged after some time if using the stock old kernel. It had the symptoms (hangs, restarts) but I even didn't know about that problem, and I only know that it had a stock KitKat, don't know anything about the bootloader or kernel versions. But is it possible that the phone which was turned off and only laid with battery inserted in a locker for half a year get damaged?
I've tried connecting the usb jig, the "debrick.img" sdcard method (I've created the image by myself with the stock ROM file using a tutorial), the uart connection with both 150K and 560K resistors and NOTHING seems to work. Is there anything else that I could possibly try doing by myself to get it back to work? I'm afraid that the only way is replacing the memory or trying to re-flash it in an external programmer. The phone has MHL and LTE so would be good as an multimedia and web player for an old TV so I would like to save it. But anyway, at this moment it's a hard brick. Please help.
Mmmh i think its memory is dead, my s3 dead same u s3, and no response from anything, I change s3 motherboard with lte version.
Yea, it looks like the most probable cause is damaged eMMC chip on board. I only wonder why it got damaged just lying switched off in the locker, the battery was in unfortunately so maybe that matters. Probably replacing only the eMMC memory with a new, programmed one would fix the problem. Anyway, because it's nothing to be quite sure about, UART doesn't work to make sure about it and the current value of the used working phone is close to the eMMC chip it's not worth it and it's probably time to just toss it out or sell as an parts donor. So sad, that Samsung didn't send any notification about that problem directly to the phone via the notification channel, I had no idea about that problem before. Fortunately I've migrated all the crucial data to the new phone before so it's not a big loose at all. Thanks anyway.
ah Mathey, when my default smartphone was s3 i usually was turn off it when i going to sleep and one day without signal my phone not want turning on when i woke up that morning, i have a charger that do a little beep when a device is conneted to it and s3 was do it but not turn on.
So maybe half a year ago when I was doing data transfer to a new phone it was the last time when the memory was in good condition, sth caused damage and the next boot was not possible, but the time I tried to do that was the few days ago. Fortunately I've moved everything crucial, so it's not a big lost. We could only wonder if leaving the phone with the battery inside can cause the problem or that's something what happens only when the phone is on and after a reboot there is no guarantee it will start up. Someone told me that GT-I9300 with the same problem could be bringed back to life just by USB, but the GT-I9305 have a different memory chip and that's not possible. Only the external programming. Sad but true :|
Hello everybody.
I've bought a genuine battery HB486486ECW but after replacing it the phone gets stuck in a bootloop on the "HUAWEI Powered by Android" startup screen.
But I can enter recovery & fastboot while on the new battery tough (and perform whipe and factory reset but still bootloops when reboot)
Different stories are dwarving the web ranging from:
1) The battery has a serial number written inside that's bound to the motherbord and you need a paid app called ChimeraTool to change it (costs 120 dollar/year so no go for a single repair)
2) Similar as 1) but with a paid tool called sigmaKey
3) You should replace the battery with one from idoc.eu (but they don't sell it anymore on their website)
But I would be very surprised that its not possible to change the battery as they are for sale all over the internet also on thrustworthy sites (goole for HB486486ECW )
Also the internet is also full of video guides how to replace the battery so i don't think they would film this when it didn't work for themselves?
I replaced the new battery with the old one and now its working fine again. But still .... did anyone manage to replace it with a new one?
Hi, have you figured it out?
If not, try to place in the new battery but dont close the phone yet and instead connect the old battery and start the phone. When it starts, plug in the charging cable, unplug the old battery and plug in the new one. Let me know if it fixed the issue.
That is a good idea but meanwhile the phone got stolen.
But I'm thinking about buying the same phone again it still rocks after 2 years
OK I bought the same phone 2nd hand because it's the best one I ever had. Did anyone figure out how to swap the battery yet?
The solution is in this thread...the battery swap is what many people said works.
hey, i'm repairing this kind of phone since long time. The problem is that the serial number of the battery is bound to the display, thats why some 3rd party screen manufactures sell screen together with battery. There are two solutions for this:
1st you can replace the battery with a 3rd party battery. You need to be alittle lucky with this, some of them work, some of them dont.
2nd Option is to reprogramm the batteries serial number to the original serial number, this can be done with a tool like Sigmakey (Probably a little expensive for using it only ones)
Anyway, the phone will start just normal if you put back the original battery.
I hope this helps.
Huawei p30 pro, I tested 7 pieces of original battery, none works. So I can't replace a battery without Chimera or Sigma?
Greetings
No, original battery will only work with reprogrammed serial number, alternative is 3rd party battery.
