Gps in Ireland?

Has anyone used Gps in ireland?...
What is the best mouse, compatible with a car kit?
What software is best?...Should i buy an all in one package like Tomtom?
Is there mapping software freeware?...where, and what coverage of ireland?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Here is some info
Hi,
Well I did a search and found this link for accessories for the XDA:
http://www.o2.dextra.co.uk/
The product to look for is the "XDA-GPS Destinator" this would give you the hardware to access GPS info. Then you could use another 3rd party mapping program like Tom Tom or MS Streets/mapPoint. (I have the CD's!!).
I use GPS in Dublin on my Laptop via a compact flash card and external antenna that I bought on E-Bay for 35 Euro! The software I use is Navigator from Directions Ltd. I find this is the most simple to use and also covers the main roads and points of interest in Ireland. I have not found any software that gives a good map view of Ireland and also I guess this is why there are no real systems for cars over here!
If you do find any more info please feel free to pop the details on here for all to share.
Regards
Andy

handsfree for xda 1 need help and input please. I am lost

Hi everybody,
Well I thought I solved my problem, but the guz who wanted to help me, let me down.
I wanted to make a good handsfree for the xda. I let go from the idea that I could involve my car stereo (no in at the device) so I wanted to make a solution with a seperate loudspeaker and a seperate microfone.
But the guy said to me that he will not take the risk...
What risk?
I myself have no technical abilities at all :-(
Cant solder have no idea about how to solve it. The solutions offered on the market seem to be verry bad and expensive. Bad sound, bad micro etc. I also wanted to involve a GPS mouse in the system.
It is clear to me how it should work, but I cant do it, being such an technical looser. If I would have to solder anything I would have one big bunch of connections, soldered together.
I have money I could pay for it....If I have to.....
Anyone there who thinks he could help me?
Please, I am desperate and lost...
Thanks
WK
maybe that bring some explanation as far as audio ....
cables are concerned, the little descriptive reading show you different audio options you can consider for you in-the-car equipment

Hi Monica,
Thanks a bunch.Tough it was not exactly what I was looking for it helped me further a bit.
I wanted to make a car kit for my car. But as I look deeper in the subject I might go for a headset. Is there any way to get the plugs in europe?
I would like to get one, but ordering it in the US will cost a fortune.
Any idea?
Thanks
WK
WK, i'm currently in the process of building a fully featured car kit for the XDA, I'm waiting on a PCB at the moment, but as soon as it arrives I will be trying to get the project finished.
The solution uses an external mic (not the XDA's) and provides line out via RCA's, and finally a telephone mute signal for incar stereo.
I will post when the project is complete, and if all goes well, I can put together some sort of guide for you guy's if you wish..
Cheers

Hi Neil
I'm in the phase of making experiments with my XDA1 and external car kits.
I already prepared a XDA connector with a 2Mt cable that have all the connector signal:
-Power supply
-Car on wire
-Mic in
-Stereo Out
-RS232 (for my GPS mouse)
-USB (for future use like external HD!)
I'm now tring to find a solution for the "radio muting"
Can you give me infos on where you find the project?
Bye
I am keen also to get more info on that

RK3188 Pumpkin Head Unit - SWC - 2015 Toyota RAV4

I've been around and around trying to validate how to get all of my RAV4 SWC keys to work.
At first I was told I needed a controller, so I bought an Axxess ASWC1, and their Toyota-specific cable. Did a lot of testing and finally found a radio setting (#11) that gave me most of my keys. I had Up/Dn, Vol+/-, MODE, and my 3 phone buttons working. Was still missing Left/Right/Center and the Back Arrow key. But not bad.
Pumpkin support (who has been really great despite the time zone difference) told me they had a specific Toyota harness that just hooked the SWC wires up directly. It was only $18, so I picked it up (took about 10 days to ship). When I got it, it works, but I only get 4 keys (Up/Dn, Vol+/-). Pumpkin support tells me it normally picks up all keys.
Has anyone else done an RK1388 install that does a direct connection (no controller) for SWC? If so, is the unit able to see all your keys?
Also interested in any insight about how SWC controls work. Does each key send a different voltage? Why are there 2 wires (+ ground)?

Why don't you use search? There are several threads in this forum explaining how SWC works.

I have, of course.
But searching for 'SWC' returns so much generic information, I haven't been able to find anything specific to my needs. And it's not like I don't understand the basics of SWC, as I have it working - I just can't tell whether or not I should expect to see 'all' keys from my RAV4 with one of these units. Pumpkin support tells me I probably should, but I haven't heard from any other users with a similar vehicle/head unit.
I can test the RAV's voltages coming off the SWC wires. What I could use information on is what voltages my head unit will recognize, so I can see if I'm missing something with the connections (directly wired using Pumpkin's own Toyota harness, so I don't think so), or with the head unit.
Let me know if there are any threads you'd recommend. Thx.
I have same issue with my sequoia 2015 ..
Exactly the same buttons you got not working
I have searched many topics and found nothing for my case
Please if found a solution let me know
Thanks

Reverse polarity in Pumpkin, need help.

Hello, I need your help.
I send my car to repaired, and when I received the car the radio was broken.
They said that turning on the battery they turned the polarity, and I opened the radio and had a burned component.
Needed to identify the component that is missing in L1.
Can someone confirm by an equal radio please?
Or someone know where I can get the scheme of this radio?
Thanks for all the help you can give me.

Start problems Android radio

Hi everyone, I don't know if I can share it here but I have a problem with my new Android radio.
First, radio works perfectly. I connected it so that it only works on contact. So key out is also radio off.
The problem is as follows: I open the doors and sit in the car. Put the car on contact and radio does NOT respond. Key out, doors locked. I wait until all the lights on the dashboard are off. I open the doors again with the remote control and put it on contact. Radio works perfect!!
I have never seen or heard something like this. Does anyone have experience with this? What is the reason for this? I still have another 12v cable that probably comes directly from the battery but I want to keep it original. If it is not possible otherwise, I have to use it.
My car is VW Passat 1.9 TDI from 2007.
Thank you all!!
Kindly regards,
Yusuf
What is headunit, OEM or Chinese aftermarket? What does seller suggest when contacted for support and has that been tried.
If chinese after market, wrong forum but post details from Android system information including MCU for post to be moved to appropriate forum.
Take the radio out and measure if you have 12V on the wire as soon as you put the car key to ignition.
By this you can check if it is a car problem or a headunit problem.
