NoPWD Team - What/Who are they? - Off-topic

Hi!
Recently, I went to a website and found that it was hacked by the above.
Any info as to what or who are they and their purpose?
Thanks

I'm guessing it was a porn website cause im guessing by there name they 'Crack websites' that have paying members so you don't have to pay a bit like getting cracked software for free off file sharing networks

google's responce is always the quickest

users of o2 stella - please help!

right... so I decided to go with o2 as my t-mob contract expired. I was too damn fed up with their poor coverage, and I travel round the country a lot.
the questions I have are:
- is there any source where I can find stock o2 rom? 6 or 6.1 even better. sorry if it's waiting for me somewhere in this forum, but I simply couldn't find it.
- if You have their unl. web bolt on - is it capped somehow? see, I read somewhere that it's just 200 megs while one of the o2 employees said, that it's not limited at all (in common sense usage ofcourse)
- I am using my kaiser for im, mail, surfing the web and others. am I allowed to do that on o2? do they block any ports?
hope this makes sense
t.i.a.
bro
I got the email through today inviting me to upgrade - I'll be moving to a sim only package. I am on an O2 Kaiser still on it's standard ROM. If someone points me to a handy dandy place that has a nice step by step, jargon free tutorial on how to dump a ROM I will see if I can up it somewhere for you.
Anyway, the "Unlimited" data used to be 200Mb web and email only. It appears (since February?) to have changed so you might find the rest of it has changed to and what people are telling you is out of date.
Looking at the O2 tnc - http://www.o2.co.uk/termsconditions/tariffsandboltons0153
The Web Bolt On allows you unlimited use of O2 UK’s Edge/GPRS/ 3G networks (as applicable to your handset), for personal internet use via your mobile phone. All usage must be for your private, personal and non-commercial purposes. You may not use your SIM Card:
o in, or connected to, any other device including modems;
o to allow the continuous streaming of any audio / video content, enable Voice over Internet (Voip), P2P or file sharing; or
o in such a way that adversely impacts the service to other O2 customers.
If O2 reasonably suspects you are not acting in accordance with this policy O2 reserves the right to impose further charges, impose network protection controls which may reduce your speed of transmission, remove the Web Bolt On from your account or disconnect your tariff at any time, having attempted to contact you first.

You'd think that when they mention an excessive usage policy they would fecking link to it so you can damn well read the policy you are signing up to without having to hunt all over their damn website. </rant>
Does that cover everything?
thanks for the info.
well... as I expected. they are bit more strict on web than tmob or 3. oh well... my mistake. maybe they will change their policy in the future... :/
anyway- if I'll gather info on how to dump rom for futer use in nice and easy way, then I'll pass it to You Mate. (unless any experienced in that matter user is willing to help)
thank You for Your help again

I didn't think it was at all bad given it is meant to be used for a mobile connection rather than your primary internet access.
As for dumping a ROM, I am sure there is a readme somewhere, I just haven't found one that is ether more than "Here's the download" with no details or littered with TLAs. And I am too lazy to keep researching at length.

change the esn?

Is the only way to do this with the cdma developer program
I just bought a HTC pro but its in a negative file
I have a HTC 6800 that i broke the screen on with all clean numbes like the esn can i somehow swap them with out paying another 200 dollar to buy the full program
Negative list? My guess is what your trying to say is that the phone is blacklisted because it has been stolen or lost and that the legetimate owner called the phone company to put the ESN on a blacklist. This is highly illegal and immoral as you are trying to steal the property of someone else... Even if you paid good money for it.
In that case I don't think anyone here on XDA will be helping you. It's not because we are unlocking phones here and by this way we violate the terms of the limited warranty of mobile phone opperators that we all steal and pirate stuff. We merely enhance the functionnality of our phones. If you found the phone or stole it you should bring it back to it's belonging carrier in a store.
Anyway if this is not the case you should know that even if both the phones are your legal property(Then I apologize for the little morality speech... Please ignore it.), this is still an illegal procedure you are undertaking. I really doubt you will find active help in this thread, moreover this has been discussed many times in other threads. Have you search?
Good luck anyway in getting a working phone!
Its not stolen the guy that had it before still owes money on the bill so the phone cant be used
bell knows I have the phone
I have done a lot of searching and I have found a lot out
Just wondering if there was a way around the program for $200 that will help me fix the phone
Ide like to get it working .......... worst part is that i know it can be done Just need a bit of direction
O well.............

I hope I'm not going to get into trouble for linking off site, this isn't the place for this topic as psyko_chewbacca said. I think you might be interested in this thread though http://www.mobile-files.com/forum/showthread.php?t=87425&page=20 the solution(post 192?) is for a touch diamond, might work on your phone. A forum search on that site might turn up even more. That site is more appropriate for topics such as this though.

Willis
Thanks!
That thread has lots of good info abut as far as i can see i still need CDMA workshop
im still looking for it

Reminds me of something... But I cant put my finger on it
Mod Edit: Links removed - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4745624&postcount=8
Its skinned to remove all logos, The only thing I could not remove was the text. I made it for myself, keep that in mind. I am just sharing.
*edit* if the original does not work, I doubt this one will but use the same install information 555-555-5555 and you must have the widget on your home screen. Launch it from the widget preferably.
is there anything different about these apks? Are they wifi compatible?
I tried wifi compatibility and it is still in the works but as of now this is only for looks but I am working on wifi as I post this.
555-555-5555?? call that number while the widget is up?
On some of the sprint apps it makes you comfirm that you are a sprint customer, so instead of sending sprint our real phone numbers (caller id=your name) we send them fake ones, like 555-555-5555
this seems like not a smart thing for you to do.

so basically you just violated alot of copyright laws....
Unfortunately, some may think, we cannot allow links to modded paying software. The software in question is provided under licence to Sprint users only. Now, we try not to sensor knowledge here, so we not going to delete all references to the fact that this software can be ported to non Sprint devices and used free of charge in breach of terms and conditions, BUT we cannot permit links to the software that would actively encourage members to break the law.
Mike
Links will be removed
It's not the fact that it is Sprint software ported over to the G1. It is the fact that he removed all of Sprint's branding. That's like taking the the Google Maps app (or any Google app) and removing Google's name from it. It's simply just a breach of copyright.

Well, that too but the whole subject of the Sprint / Telnav software has been raised and discussed with Mods and Admin so there are issues regarding the use of such software on non Sprint phones.

Wow. Mike you have got to be one of the fairest, most logical forum mods I have ever had the pleasure to read. I am very impressed with the way in which this was handled.

I was shut down for a while and had to remove some things, but in the end reached a sort of unofficial compromise on intellectual property rights.
This is a delicate issue, in my case I don't offer folks something they would normally have to pay for through their network or otherwise. (I offer stuff they should not have, even if they have money to pay for it!!).
I guess our bottom line is that knowledge should be freely available, but handing folk the tools, to install stuff that is very close to being Warez, is off-limits. (Robbing banks with an uzi can be profitable = knowledge, but handing out uzis and suggesting you rob a bank, crosses the line)
.... and yes we know cooking ROMs and such is also a grey area, but even there we say that ROMs should not be cooked that include for free any software for which the user would normally have to pay.
If someone set up a site with Sprint software on it - that's entirely up to them. We would probably even accept a link to it if the poster said "hey here's a breakdown of a Sprint ROM" In fact that would probably be OK to post here - at least until someone asked for a "take-down"
The problem only comes when someone says you can load this stuff on non-Sprint phones and get stuff for free and just to help you do that here are the links. In other words that ceases to be a theoretical point of information and becomes an encouragement to do something naughty. If folks want t be naughty then they have to do so, by reading the knowledge and then looking for the tools from whatever source, here or elsewhere without our help.
These kinds of things have been debated many times here at XDA - there are no absolute rights and wrongs, only things we think are more or less safe for us to do - just like life generally I guess

Well said Mike. When I read it, I had a /foreheadslap moment thinking, "well duh, this should be pretty obvious," but im constantly reminded that there are users on here who simply feel they have a right or deserve to have any given piece of software if it is leaked online.
The bottom line is, do not post software that has not been explicity licensed as open source unless you have obtained permission to redistribute. As a general rule of thumb, if the software cannot be legally obtained unless you pay someone (e.g. it comes preloaded on a phone) or can be obtained free but only if you agree to a license agreement (downloading certain software update packages) then you should not redistribute it on xda or elsewhere.

hi i am new to this site my name is Craig i have just got a XDA zest at what i thort was a really good price £40 boxed and mint
i have seen a few mods for the phone alredy this sites seems the best around for this kind of thing.
i like the look of windows mobile 6.1 Diamond
i am looking for help and advice on what progams i will need to mod this phone
so...what stuff should i download first ?
Hi ad welcome
£40 = a good price indeed.
Unfortunately for you, the Zest (although it's an XDA from O2) is actually made made Asus - unlike almost all other O2 PDA/phones that are made by HTC. As you may know we concentrate on HTC phones here. So unfortunately you won't find a forum for the zest.
However, as the phone runs Windows Mobile then most applications that get mentioned here will have a version for your phone. So you can hunt around the site using the search funtion) for applications and programmes) there are also many sites offering freeware for windows mobile and of course there are also hundreds of paid apps as well. It's easier for folk to suggest an application if you say what sort of things you want to do with the phone. Spmetimes it's easier to browse around the freeware Windows Mobile sites.
Regarding changing ROMs or changing the version of Windows Mobile Operating System (OS). Do not use applications or programmes for doing this that you see here. The OS for mobile phones is specific to each phone model and as the Zest is not included here then there is no suitable OS upgrade available here. If you attempt to change the OS using stuff found here you could "brick" your phone or to put it another way - render it useless, a paperweight, a "brick"!!! So far as I'm aware there is no site currently creating ROMs for Asus phones (I could be wrong) other than perhaps Asus or O2 who MAY issue ROM updates from time to time.

Submitting apps to China stores

Hi Guys,
As a UK based Android game developer we have recently had a few games released on China Mobile and 189 stores via a publisher/distributor who have a presence in-country.
For our future titles I'm currently investigating the idea of submitting to these Chinese app stores ourselves in order to hopefully bypass the ‘middle man’ so to speak.
Lots of links to the app stores 'developer centres' exist, however it seems I've failed at the first hurdle. During the registration process I am being asked for our Chinese business license number and Tax registration number. I cannot seem to bypass this section or submit our UK business details in order to continue. Either that or I'm being asked to input a Chinese mobile number in order to receive a verification code.
Just wondering if anyone else had any experience of self submitting to these China stores? It seems as though anyone outside of China is not allowed to submit apps? Is that correct?
Thanks in advance
Mark.
Hi Guys,
By the lack of replies it seems this might not be the correct forum for this type of subject
Does anyone know of any other good forums which may be able to help me out.
Thanks again.

Hi there,
You could try this makingmoneywithandroid dot com. They have a very good forum.
Out of curiosity - which distributor did you work with there? We worked with Tencent and the whole experience was / is a bit difficult, to say the least.

Hi Tom, Thanks for the link.
We went with a publisher called Thumbstar, who are based in the UK, who work with a company from China called Viva Red. Currently they are getting us on the state owned stores like China Mobile and China Telecom.
I have heard of Tecent. Aren't they a massive 3rd party app store? So did you apply through their website or did they send you an invite to put your games on their store? Have you had much sales success with them?
M.
I know Thumbstar, they have quite a lot of games for Android in their portfolio. How was your experience with them?
As for Tencent, yes, their are a massive company (games, web, WeChat, etc.). They got in touch with us regarding one of the games we've published. We also had two titles published in China with The9 but it was quite a long time ago and I'm not sure if they are still in the business.

Will send you a PM Tom.
I can give u really advice because i am from china .here in china there are too many store
but ,you can choose some big store just like 360.cn ,91,wandoujia,and myapp.com .you can contact me by [email protected] .i may give u some help .
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
From my own experience it is easy to submit to Wandoujia (Peas Pod), takes about a week for them to approve everything, you need to prove you're the copyright holder of the the app (scan of company certificate) when you submit along with a signed "owner" form from their submission process. Registering is pretty straight forward thanks to Google Translate (for best results install the Google Translate addon into your web browser and/or use Chrome):
http://pmt.wandoujia.com/apps/dev/home
I've only submitted a free app, not sure but suspect things are more complicated with paid apps.
Other Chinese app stores are harder to submit to but usually only because of translation issues or also having to install their apps first and create an account - the apps are always Chinese too.
My app is on many stores in China, but I never uploaded it, they are just distributing a cracked version... :-/
What about Xiaomi? http://app.xiaomi.com/
$10 publish fee for each China app store
I check the website called www.app4chinese.com and they provide service to publish app in China. $10 per store and they list 19 China app stores on their website.
Hi Maineyak,
We actually help developers to promote globally their apps in different stores (not just gPlay) and increase efficiently the number of downloads.
Send us a PM if you need more information or check our website
