Video output signal - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

Hi all,
i'm posting you freaks out there a new challenge.
I'm about to install an LCD screen on my car to watch videos and tv as well as pass some mp3 to the car stereo. Of course, i remembered that expensive gadget from XDA2, the backpack wich had a video out port. Now, that i have the XDA3, i was wondering if i could do something like that to pass the video from my pda to the LCD screen.
Any ideas ?

same here!!!!!
Anyone know if this option is available?
I have the Siemens SX66 and i want to do presentations via a vga connector either to a vga monitor or a projector.

So- on their site they have a list of compatible devices:
Presenter-to-Go SD for Select Pocket PC Devices (27000-Series: 27001, 27002, 27003 )
Vendor Model
Dell Axim X3
Axim X3i
Axim X30
Samsung i700
ViewSonic V35 (Requires their SDIO upgrade)
V36
V37 (Requires their SDIO upgrade)
Axim x30 is a Blue Angel device (I think) so does this mean that it will be compatible withother angels such as my XDAIIs?

Whops... 8) Maybe I should reload opened pages before posting...
Ok its hp 1910 for sure.......is this an pda phone or just a pda ??
man it loooooks good....would love to get my hands on it if its a pda phone.......
Its a pda, it has no serial port, the only way to use gps is through the irda port. I had one of these and it made a brilliant tool for mp3 and watching films, very small and light, nice screen, sd card slot and very cheap. While on the subject, I had a box made for me that will accept a serial input from a gps and convert it to infrared, this is then transmitted to the ipaq through its own irda port. If anybody wants to buy it let me know. It is usable on other devices with irda port also.

Your Dream Pda/PHONE

WHATS your dream phone and what features wud you want it?
T0 All
basically a kaiser with good drivers and vga. or in other words a smaller athena with slightly less crippled drivers... when i say smaller, i mean abt 3.5 to 4 inch screen rather than 5 inch
So thats 624 mhz processor, 128 ram, 256 rom
16gb flash onboard [this is the new athena]
tactile feedback keyboard
gps
vga

My dream phone (Tilt) is on the way.... Can't wait! Can I have two dream phones? Xperia X1 is on that list.....
Sony Ericsson Xperia x1.

Shift
The Shift, but with Vista Ultimante, and 160gb hard, - but HTC would have to make it so you can use it like a regular phone.............................
Other wise, the Tilt/TnTY II has done an awesome job, the only complain is i need some ability to do my graphics/audio editing "on the fly". The photos i do edit with two programs from the Tilt, but yet to find a good audio editer of that..... (use Adusity on the desktop at home......)
my dream phone is the iphone with 3g even without the 3g i love it way more than mytilt it does everything it said it would and more plus i can still install apps but i dont really need to too much why because most of the stuff i was installing on the tilt couldve been done on the iphone ie s2p s2u opea mini htc photo album big on screen keyboard its already their on the iphone plus the battery life way better than the tilts even when i would just leave it on edge

SonyEricsson Xperia X1 by the specs and if it can hold up to what it promises. If it doesnt: a phone similar to the X1 which actually holds what it promises...

I would be extremely happy with an iPhone with a WM6 emulator.
Although my perfect device would probably be an iPhone with WM6 emulator and the following hardware changes:
1. Removable battery.
2. Slightly shorter.
3. Lighter, less metal, more composites (less than 100g total weight).
4. Thinner, if possible, as thin as the iPod Touch.
5. MicroSD slot.
6. Standard Mini USB connector.
7. Built-in GPS.
8. 3G
I want that one ^^^
My dream phone would have similar but a little more than the specs shown above:
TouchScreen
3.5-4 screen
10gb+
600+mhz
256RAM/512ROM
2 MicroSDHC card slot
Fastest and Best GPS Signal
5-10mp with Flash camara and Even an option for Night Vision Mode
Ability to have 2 SIM Card (and yes its already done)
WiFi able to act as an Access Point with the new Wireless-N capabilities
both 3g & 4g (coming soon somewhere in 2009-2011)
Advance 3D-Acceleration Chipset with Drivers if needed
A/V Output for Video and Images
And all that in under $400 but its only a dream in the year 2008
My perfect Pocket PC would be:
3 inch full VGA touch screen with multi touch support.
Universal-like clamshell design
at least 8GB of built in memory
at least 528mhz dual core
VGA out and full USB 2.0 support (like the Athena)
3.5mm headphone jack
Good tactile keyboard.
Built in GPS
5mp auto focus camera with xenon flash
High resolution video suppor

Actually, if they'll ever manage to really do it, they should just simply call it "The Tytn". Can't get any bigger than that... (as opposed to the "Tytn"... got the pun...? lol...)
meizu m8 sounds like a dream phone...
if they manage to finish it...
You guys dream small.
Since it's a "dream" phone I would go with the iPhone route with some not so small changes:
3Ghz quadcore inlel or amd proc.
2gb DDR3 ram @ 2000mhz
250 SSD + SD micro
Nvidia GPU that is actually a mobile desktop replacment of the 8800GT*/9800GT* (G92 series) w/512mb GDDR3 dedicated (for outputting higher res to monitor) upgradable through mini port (like the SD micro slot but for GPU's insted of memory)
HDMI out
Multitouch
WiFi a/b/g/n
FTA HD antenna
Vindows Vista compatible but allows for XP installation.
X-Fi sound 24-bit, 96KHz record and playback with full 5.1 surround through Optical S/PDIF
USB and 3.5mm sterio jack
1280x720 5" oled display. (over kill I know)
IR for remote control
Thumb print reader for security
Total control voice recognition
anti reflective screen
500nit brightness
10mp camera with flash and full motion HD recording @ 60fps
Blue Tooth
GPS
1/3 in thick and 100g
And the kicker...
Free with 3yr contract with respected service provider.
It will never happen for another 10-15 yrs or so(maybe never) but if your gonna dream you might as well dream big.
Cheers.
Really Dreaming.

To really replace my phone, Gaming PC, Laptop, PDA, Mediagate, PVR, Still and Video Camerra, SatNav, ipod, PSP, xbox, DVD player, universal remote control, pay tv box, we would need just a few additional items to what you suggested, but not many.
A big amount of storage say 800Gb
For the unit to be able to act as a remote control, but also be remote controlled.
A series of docking stations for Office, Car, Lounge, Bedroom, Games room, I would imagine the device would have enough battery power to stay on if you ran from one station to the next. These docking stations could also have TV antena/Satelite/cable inputs for the on board tuner, and bulky items like a DVD player/burner, Keyboards, mouse, also outputs for the TV/Monitor, surround sound etc. Although all of these items could be connected directly as well if you got caught without the station.
Of course it would come with a series of accessories, like wifi gaming handsets, wifi mouse/keyboard, wifi/bluetooth stereo headset, 3D goggles.
If only it could make a cup of coffee, Now that is dreaming...

RedFly drivers for USB video

It looks like RedFly has drivers to communicate video and keyboard through the USB port!!
I bet these drivers could be used for any computer, such as the Asus EEE - with a bit of work at first, of course.
I've always wanted a large screen for my WinMo, and it looks like it is on the way!
is this as we have got?
there must be someone out there that can turn a eee pc into a redfly clone
eagerly waiting for such a WinMo driver, (linux or windows on the EEE side), that allows using the EEE screen at native resolution ,for buying an EEE.
I want it!!!
redfly: really good idea, but not at that price point!
redlfy price is a little high
I'm hoping to have one in the next week or 2, i will post a review.
FYI - the video appears on redfly in native resolution (i.e. the resolution of the tilt" and works both via USB and Bluetooth

I may be wrong, But my understanding is that video appears on redfly at 800*480, not at native tilt qvga 320*240.
So, redfly soft to be installed in PDA must have something similar to RealVGA, a proggie that changes Windows Mobile resolution,
I´d be happy having on the EEE a 640*480 piece of screen real state for Mindows Mobile remote screen ( with real crisp VGA, not just upscaled QVGA!) and the remainin screen real state for underlying linux/windows desktop

i wish it were true - there is upscaling for regular programs email even web browsing but for video - it plays native 320.240 this has been confirmed in the reviews so far of the unit
but like i said hopefully i will be able to show you - i expect to hear by thursday if one is shipping to me soon
The Redfly has a software that has to be installed on the phone to make it bigger and better quality, however it doesn't work for video playback. Plus I found out it doesn't work with Skyfire Browser.

Thanks for sharing the info. Then redfly is a no-no because I can get a similar size, fully capable, PC (EEE) for much less money, and use either SOTI or Mymobiler with a 2x Zoom factor.
Next step would be using Kaiser as a SideShow device for EEE:
funny:using the PC for controlling the Kaiser, and using the Kaiser for controlling the PC!
LOL!!!!

it better work with opera or thats a deal killer
Posted using my Redfly and Opera Mini...
So the Redfly experience so far is good. Not great, but good. This is a new product so inevitably it should get better provided Celio (mfg'r) listens to user communities like XDA.
Pros -
Instant On
Instant Connect with USB and BlueTooth
Usable Screen Size/Experience
Usable Web Browsing
Keyboard Controls (Alt-Tab, Windows Key, Function Keys)
Size for Experience
Light Weight
Long Battery Life
Cons -
Does not replace a full fledged PC (if you're expecting that)
Amplifies limitations of WinMo outside of its native form factor (I'm running Sleuth 6.1 on a TyTN II)
No Video/Audio playback on the device
If you're looking for a full fledged PC experience out of this, its not going to happen. IMHO given natural progression of technology and improvements in WinMo devices (SW and HW) this could take the place of a laptop eventually.
For those looking at this vs an EEE or something similar, I'd like t see them put the PC up to their ear to take a phone call, also your still carrying two devices which are mutually exclusive vs a single device with an auxiliary piece of hardare that enhances the experience of the core device (only when needed).

Kaiser and Power Point

Does anyone know if it is possible to use Kaiser to project a power point presentation, bypassing the need for a laptop, and without the use of an intermediate device like the Margi PDA presenter? I read that the new HTC phones may be able to do that, if so is this a software or special hardware wiring? is it a function of the device being VGA or qVGA display? I would appreciate an explanantion by one of the experts.
You are hearing about a technology that hasn't yet been released... it will be a micro projector built into the phone or as an ipod sized accessory.

If you mean the sort of video output dongle thats possible to use with the Touch Pro and other devices, no it won't work if used with the Kaiser. I've not tried it with my Kaiser, I've just read it here somewhere on XDA-DEV that it doesn't work with a Kaiser.
I am talking about the ability of the new devices e.g. Fuze to connect directly to a TV or slide projector using a special cable from the mini USB on on one end and has RCA connections on the other to attach to the external display device. See this:
http://www.htc.com/us/product.aspx?id=58080
Kaiser doesn't support/have the TV Out feature, this was asked and explain before, just search the kaiser forum and you will get your answer.

Converting a TILT to a Laptop?

I looked around at ways to get more use out of my tilt and found the redfly Item it connects to the tilt via usb and gives you an 8 inch screen and a bigger keyboard and even a touch pad and VGA output that got me thinking "My Axim had a VGA adapter" so I started looking and found this Item http://blog.makezine.com/archive/2006/11/pda_mod_vga_rs2.html has anyone seen what would be best called a "docking Port" for the TILT?
Also considering switching out my 8925 to a Athena or a Shift? Might even trade my tilt I just need a bigger screen and VGA its hard to remote desktop on QVGA.
i'd just get a netbook and be done with it.
yeah and then use ICS with the netbook. I have a dell mini 9 and love it when it's mated to my tilt
@ChumleyEX: "ICS"?
A netbook + smartphone combi... Say, didn't Palm think of this before, and the concept failed?
internet connection sharing
Yar, this is definitly not fail. I can surf from ubuntu or windows just about anywhere with a larger screen, plus you can bluetooth your GPS to the notebook, share movies. It's pretty nice.
