Hello, i want to replace the rom with either the qtek or imate rom. How do i go about doing this? I would also like to install the O2 acctive home screen as it is quite useful.
Lastly, how do i unlock the phone to any network?

Hey all,
I have a Siemens SX66 here and its locked (and no camera). So I am thinking of just getting an unbranded I-Mate and then customizing it to Cingular. Will I have any problems with downloading the CABS/Autorun from the Siemens Ext Rom RAR file on the FTP and running it on the device? IE as I understand it it should brand the device to Cingular w/o any problems? Anyone using the PDA2K Unbranded BlueAngel on Cingular Network?
Thanks
That would work just fine.
Here is what I would do:
1) Take the unlocked PDA2k and put the imate 1.40 version rom on it.
2) Get into the extended rom, delete the files Default_ImateV112.002.cab and Default_Button9_PIE.CAB
3) Take the cabs from the Cingular Rom that are CUSTOMIZATION (Cingulcustomize_041228.CAB, Cingular_ECall.CAB, Cin_inbox_ap.CAB, MediaNet.CAB, Button.CAB, getmail.CAB) and rename them adding "Default_" in from, then place htem in your extended rom
4) Hard Reset to have 1.40 with Cingular customization.
A few weeks ago I upgraded my MDA III's ROM to the latest official version (BA_TMNL_14200_115_11300_Ship.exe).
This created more problems than I already had and solved none (it did not solve the BlueTooth problems I had, I lost about 15Mb storage/memory, Contacts list disappears every now and then, and most importantly, the device has become incredibly slow - sometimes completely unresponsive for 10-20 seconds).
I really want to go back to the original ROM. I've called T-Mobile in the Netherlands and they said they don't have the original ROM available for download. My only option is to send the MDA III in for repair, which will take about 10 days - but they couldn't guarantee they will be able to put the original ROM on it.
I've look at this place's FTP site, and I'm not sure if the original ROM is even available here. I think it might be MDA3_TMUK_v106160_SHIP0307.exe but I'm not sure.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
why you dont downgrade to asian ROM 140WWE..... im using it on my MDA III is more stabil than the original ROM from MDA III T-MOB !!!!
Hi,
I have a MDA Vario but want too remove all the sh*t that T-Mobile gives you because I want to use it with KPN network. How can I tweak it to have a full functional device (with GPRS working and stuff). First I have to unlock the SIM with Lokiwiz3? Any other required tweaks needed or adviced? Should i use a ROM update of any kind?
I'm rather new to this device so I appriciate all kinds of help!
To get rid of all the T-Mobile stuff you'll need a ROM update, but if you can put up with thier logo etc, here is the KPN settings
I have just bought an O2 XDA IIS from ebay. Can i load an Orange rom into it as I plan to unlock it and use it on my Orange contract. Also, is there a WM6 Orange rom that can be loaded? any help would be warmly welcomed.
Cheers
no need for orange rom, cuz when unlocking, you remove the simlock from the phone...the rom is not bound to the operator...hungarian operator rom doesn't even exist, altough i use hungarian op sim...
and for IIS there is no wm6 rom...
Cool, so if i do the unlock, will it remove any references to O2 from Os?
well...not exactly...
so imagine, that you have a phone and an operating system...the phone means here the gsm antenna, adapter and driver, and the simcard, that identifies you to the operator...now U unlock the phone...this will remove the simlock, phone will accept any simcards...but the procedure won't touch the OS...(operator has no key in the registry structure)...if o2 installed any programs on the IIS they can be removed, even if you use o2 sim, or orange...but if you connect to another network, it won't recognize, that device was locked to O2 before...
Cool thanks, one more question. Is there a rom that you would recommend that is nice and basic so if O2 has put some branding into it i can start fresh?
Thanks for all your help.
well, you should now, that changing roms void warranty...if in this case you think of a new rom, i would recommend wm5...helmi modified by baniaczek and xplode's roms are the most stable and newest yet...
thanks
thanks! very much
Hi
I have never changed the rom on my Orange SPV M1000 before. If I install a WM 6 rom on it, will I be able to go back to the original Orange rom with WM2003?
Also, is there anything I need to bear in mind when doing it? What will not work? Will I still be able to use the phone features on it? Is there a possibility of screwing the device up completely, beyond restoration?
Thanks
