I'd like to use the HTC Touch keyboard on my Tilt for the times that I don't want to slide out the keyboard, but installing it seems to break the autocorrect feature when I am using the hardware keyboard. I see a few other people mentioning this in various threads, but I have yet to see any mention of a solution to this problem. I've tried all sorts of combinations of enabling and disabling autocorrect and various xt9 features, but the only way I can get autocorrect back is by uninstalling the HTC Touch keyboard.
By autocorrect, I'm referring to the ability to type in "il" and have it automatically change to "I'll"
Hi - did anybody find a solution to this? I've been searching high and low!
I'm in exactly the same boat - I love HTC keypad as it really helps me use the Kaiser one-handed, but I really miss the auto-correct on the hardware keyboard.
Is there a version of this SIP that doesn't break auto-correct?
I tried the HTC phonepad, but just couldn't get used to it after using the newer Keypad.
I would love to have a good T9 style SIP, but also have autocorrect on the hardware keyboard......anybody that can help?
Thanks!
I'd noticed that too, quite annoying as the touch keypad is so useful.

I too found the same issues yet I loved the T9 input using the touch pad. I removed the xT9 one and installed this one instead.
You still get T9 and it works fast too. The internal keyboard auto correct also works with it too.
Is also made by HTC but can't remember where I found it. May have been on here before or recently.
I've been earching for a solution to this as well for months now. The autocomplete that XT9 disables is part of wm6 which it calls "word completion." When XT9 is installed via htc keypad, word completion ceases to work along with the feature that auto-fills contacts as you start to type a new SMS.
Thanks for posting that pkonepad cab, but unfortunately.that' the sip that radatia mentioned above. The buttons on the new HTC touch phonepad are bigger and easier to use.
What we really need is someone here that knows some programming to somehow alter the touch phonepad so that xt9 can be toggled on and off (without a registry change and restart), or better yet somehow change it to use a T9 like the phonepad's instead of xt9...
I have exact same problem. I love the htc virtual keyboard because became useful. However once I installed it, the hardware keyboard word completion no longer work I need that too because I use it.
I have another question, do anyone know if I can make the default windows word completion to auto select the top most word suggested list so I can just enter space bar to select it. Now I always have to use down key to select the word 1st. Not efficient.
Just wanted to bump this topic. There have got to be others out there who share our frustration... and someone who can put an end to it!
I've given up on the HTC Keypad, much as I like it and it making the device usable one-handed.
Have moved onto the PocketCM Keyboard as my preferred SIP just so that I can still keep word completion when using the hardware keyboard.
Hope that someone posts here if a solution is eventually found......
oh man!
I'm the opposite.. how I wish the hardware keyboard is not auto correct enabled when I use it.
I've tried dis-abling the auto correct etc.. dun seem to work..
now using Resco keyboard..
it's the next best thing, but kinda defeats the purpose of getting the tytn II in the first place.
Yes the touch keyboard has many issues when used on kaiser. i can't get autocomplete to work with the hardware keyboard either unfortunately.
I do know that "multiword completion" in the xt9 settings or whatever is a bad thing and causes other problems, so i uncheck that. But, still can't figure out how to get autocomplete to work.
I spent a lot of time searching and installing/uninstalling these things to try and find a perfect mix, no luck though. It's still QUITE usable for me, but i would like auto complete for hardware keyboard, though, i dont think i'd use it as i type realy fast anyways with it.
It's quite hard to justify buying a keyboard when we are able to install a free one that *almost* does what we want! pcmkeyboard with iphone buttons and XL touch skin is good, but i am realy starting to like xt9.
:-( i have this problem now and love the keyboard...
I have received today my new Diamond, to replace previous HTC P3600.
My first problem os that I am a former Palm user (since 1996!), and like to use graffiti as input. In my P3600 I have installed a small apllication (myprogram) that emulates graffiti. I have tried on the Diamond, block recognizer appears on the input check list but when I select it it does not start and regular keyboard stays instead.
Do you know if there is available somewhere an updated block recognizer for the Diamond?
Shame on me, the Diamond has block recognizer as a standard feature and did stop working because I have installed the program that was supposed to add this feature.
Now I just need to find a way to use IGO 2006 on the Diamond to be a very happy person...
Found it. My problem was that apparently nothing was happening when running setup, but indeed the program was instaled. The program runs really fast and browsing maps is a delight, much faster than my previous P3600. I guess that this is the result of using internal memory instead of a external card! Maybe has some limitations but indeed can be quite effective to run programs, maps, music and so on!

True! I use graffiti for 10 years and its hard to understand why people like physical keyboards !
Regarding IGO I am running 2006 with no problems, indeed much faster than on previous HTC P3600. Haven´t tryed yet IGO2008.
where did u find the block recogniser? is it pre installed in the phone?
Yes, it is pre-installed on the phone. I am using ROM Elite 2.0 and I can not confirm if block recognizer was already on the original ROM.
oh, mine's chinese version, block recogniser is not provided, gee

You need 3 steps to make Block Recognizer running on the CHT ROM.
1st, skip the operator customization process during a hard-reset.
2nd, extract msim.dll & msim.192.dll from a WWE rom and paste them into \Windows
3rd, export HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{42429691-ae04-11d0-a4f8-00aa00a749b9} section from a WWE rom and import to Diamond
If somebody is willing to make a cab for this, it would be appreciated.
I decided not to keep the new T9 keypads but the original keyboard + Block Recognizer instead. This makes everything easier
Cheers!
i tried but the block recognizer not work well .. cannot written and recognize the word
Any news on this? Block recognizer is not on my Swedish Diamond either.
Block recognizer has it own writing system. Only one letter is written and recognized at one go. From the Block Recognizer sip , press on the '?' button and you will see how the letters are formed. Most letters use only one penstroke without lifting but there are exceptions.
Here i've dug up a reference image for grafitti which is the same system as block recognizer. you can print it out for quick reference. I used to carry it around with me when i was using the palm.
Note: in the image, the dot is the starting pointing of the letter to be written

Danish Block Recognizer?
I am a former Palm user, so I prefer Block Recognizer to keyboards. Unfortunately I can’t find Block Recognizer on my new TD.
I have asked HTC where it is, and the reply I got was:
“As per your query about the block recogniser and other options of keyboard, these options are not included on Danish devices.”
Is it possible some how to install it on a Danish TD? – We have some extra letters in our alphabet: “æ – ø - å”
I was wondering if anyone has the same problem as I do. I am using ROM 1.34.8831.1 WWE and my word completion and word correction does not work.
I have tried START/SETTINGS/INPUT/WORD COMPLETION. but it changes nothing.
Comments or suggestions please..
Thanks
I encountered the same problem (I prefer the standard MS keyboard). I tried registry tweaks but must have missed something because still didn't work.
Then I installed KaiserTweak and in there disabled XT9 support and since then everything works great.
But again, that's for the default keyboard, it did work without tweaking on the diamond keyboards.

word completion with block recognizer
Hi
HTC in Australia) support clearly advise that word completion will not work on Touch Diamond when using block recognizer.
Is there anybody out there that can add this feature to the Touch Diamond - even if it is not available on other input methods?
Word completion does work for block recognizer, do as dutch64 mentioned.
Strange...i have exactly the oposite problem
i don't like word completion feature, and so i try all ways to disable it (from settings menu and from Advanc. conf. tool), but i only get it 100% disabled when i use Panosha ROMs ...
I am finding a Japanese keyboard for Diamond
My Rom is Chinese Traditional, dunno if it is HK Rom or TW Rom
Then I reached here: http://my.opera.com/cameron_en/blog/2008/02/03/ime-complete-installation-files-download-section
I tried following the instructions there but I cannot use henkan (変換) button, or even backspace.
My activated ChangJie input cannot be used as well.
The black bar (start menu bar) was on the top of the green screen which the texts "Windows Mobile 6.1" are there when I boot up my phone after the JP keyboard is installed, and the icons on the bar were not on there places. For example, the windows flag is in the middle.
I found they are not useful I uninstalled them all, the default input "ChangJie" can be used without problems, but the black-bar problem is not solved, I have to hard reset my phone.
Question: Now I haven't hard reset it yet, and want to know
1, How can I make the Japanese input works without any problems
2, Could anyone please let me know if there is another JP input for WM6 which works.
Thanks, and sorry for my Eng coz I am a Chinese.
Today I did a hardreset and reinstall IME without Chinese files, Korean files, enabler files and registry fix
All the problems were still here, until I uninstall the korechithai.cab, ChangJie started to work, but those JP IME input method has the following results:
Kana: Only Katakana can be type but cannot Henkan (変換)
Romaji: Only English and Numbers can be typed.
I only hope the two above works, Tegaki and Kensaku are about handwrite which I think is so inconvenience, although these two works quite fine.
I also tried Bagojs Input but all its input methods have to use handwrite.
Glad to hear if there is another Japanese input keyboard or make the Ask IME_31J works.
Thanks
hello!
i'm searching a cab to read japanese, but i can't find anything, have u any idea to do it?
Maybe inside the web the cab korechithai.cab meets you needs.
But I suggest you backup first because I dunno about this!~

I'm trying to get the Block recognizer too.
It seems to me that Microsoft blocked it in WM 6.5
EzInput 2.1 doesnt support old SIP methods like block recongniser, thats why it doesnt work for you guys.

Hey Aman, but at Microsoft WebPage, they talk about the input methods for WM 6.5 and Block/Letter Recognize are there !!!!!!!
I though that the nes versions of cooked ROM's would be able to have then too.
Finally working BR and LR

To enable the Letter Recognizer SIP, set this to 1:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{42429690-AE04-11D0-A4F8-00AA00A749B9}\IsSipInputMethod
"Default"="1" – Enabled
To enable the Block Recognizer SIP, set this to 1:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{42429691-ae04-11d0-a4f8-00aa00a749b9}\IsSipInputMethod
"Default"="1" – Enabled
You will notice that this will not make the SIP appear, for example, in your SMS application. However, it should appear in the pulldown menu at Start->Settings->Personal->Input. Now, if you try to set the Letter Recognizer as default, thinking that it will appear in SMS application, it doesn't. For some reason, it will always default back to the Touch Input (or EzInput) SIP.
So, the next step is to make the Letter Recognizer SIP the default. To do that, check the value at
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip\DefaultIm
It should be "0654897B-B359-473F-B28B-D85CF601C57F" (for Touch Input SIP). Replace that with
"42429690-AE04-11D0-A4F8-00AA00A749B9" (for Letter Recognizer SIP).
WARNING -- very very important to make sure the above is entered correctly. According to some posts elsewhere, a non existent SIP can crash your device. You might want to confirm if you have the Letter Recognizer SIP by searching for the msim.dll file. If it exists, I suppose it is probably safe.
After soft reset (power on/off device), you should now see the Letter Recognizer in your SMS application. However, you will also notice it doesn't work properly. For eg, the Capital Letter (left panel) doesn't work, there is this irritating word suggestions thing that keep popping up, it is quite slow and quite inaccurate, the Help doesn't work well.
To resolve these problems, set the following to 1:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\ezsip\IsOtherSip
Do a soft reset and the problems should disappear and you have a good Letter Recognizer to work with (even with fingernail), save for the following problems:
a. Sometimes response may not be very good. Can be quite slow especially if you are entering letters like "i", "r". Maybe this is because of the screen sensitivity.
b. If you click on the little triangle and want to switch to the Touch Input SIP, you can. But the problem is that you can't switch back to the Letter Recognizer anymore unless you do a soft reset. I guess this is OK if you use Letter Recognizer exclusively, but if you want the Chinese Handwriting feature in Touch Input (which is pretty good IMO), then it is not good.
Sorry for the long post. Thought it is better to also share my observations. I am a newbie with registry thing, so I prefer to do step by step and hence many soft resets. If you are gungho enough, just do the steps in bold followed by a soft reset. Hope it works for all you guys.
Note -- if you don't feel safe doing the registry changes, an alternative is to use the Touch Input SIP but set the waiting time to the shortest possible which will reduce the delay. But it is still very irritating to use IMHO.
Cheers
Just to remember all that the solution I described at the previous post is not mine and was Originally Posted by NothingBetterToDo. So, many thnaks to him for the great solution !!!!!!

Hi
Info to all of you with other language then english.
The file msim.dll are country specific, in sweden its called msimsw.dll so i guess you will be able to find your version if you search the registry for msmi and then you will find a msmiXX.dll that is the correct one for your country.
I hade to add the info for {42429690-AE04-11D0-A4F8-00AA00A749B9} and {42429691-ae04-11d0-a4f8-00aa00a749b9} because it was missing info so it's not enought to only change the IsSipInputMethod to 1.
I have attached the files i used, but plz realise that this one is for swedish a version. You can edit the files with notepad to adress the localized .dll file for your country.
After this to be able to use the input methods i did what nicksalgado said and change
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip\DefaultIm
to {42429691-ae04-11d0-a4f8-00aa00a749b9} to use Block recognizer as default im

Hi
I have the "RUU_Topaz_S_HTC_SPA_2.16.412.1_Radio_Sign_Topaz_61.44tc.25.32_4.49.25.17_Ship", and has the same problem that you describe. I use the HTC Pure from AT&T, and in the original AT&T ROM the Block Recognizer work it just fine. Is there a way to captura a cab to use to solve this problem from the original AT&T Rom?? Regards
OK The tweak worked for me. Now I have got rid of that annoying keyboard. Anyway I would like to have the option of choosing the keyboard in a drop down list like before the rom update. Now the block recognizer is the one and only input method.

Activation of the Letter/Block Recognizer cookbook
Hi all
thanks, it works perfectly on my Topaz.
How to desactivate properly and completely block recognizer (register and so on) of my Topaz now, because I want tu use the SPB Back Up of my Topaz on my Touch2..and I am sure I will Have some problems with this change..?
Thanks
It's not a good idea to use a full backup file from one device to a different one.
