On my xda2 the 02 logo was on the title bar where it interfered with application names and was generally a mess.
On my xda2s 02 have in their wisdom included their logo as a notification - but this means that if any other notification arrives you get the speech bubble icon which is less than informative.
Does anybody know how to remove this O2 notification (by notification I mean the logos warning of low power, new texts, missed calls etc.)
thanks,
Peter
Yes and no.
You can remove it, but this method will also loose their "today" screen (and instead ONLY have the standard one, which to me was fine, but might not be to you).
You need to do a hard reset (hold down power button and push reset button). It'll start up and start installing all the applications. Just wait, but be ready to do a soft reset.
After installing Album, MMS and the other programs, the final step is O2 customisation. It pops up with "Home / Corporate" choices. Not quite sure what the differences are, but when that pops up, just push soft reset button and voila... no O2 notification logo (or customised today screen)
I'm sure there's a way of changing the Extended ROM around, but this way to get it back you just have to do another hard reset.
Hope that helps!
thanks for the tip - a bit of a sledgehammer tho - I'd rather identify the app/process and find a way of killing that...
have you been in the kitchen on wiki? Might find what you are looking for as to what app does what and how to cook you Ext Rom for good. Sorry you will have to do a Hard reset at some time.
I will tell you
as always - full backup although very safe strait forward procedure go into C:\windows\startup and delete conections (you could move it as I have to a foulder called startupbak - I have done this as it will always be below my startup folder for easy location in future and because I was not absolutley sure at the time on any other effects this might have) - it seems to have none! - will advise If I find any frightners - try moving it though - cant hurt
can still get broadband access from my neighbours wifi access point - he has no idea about the security holes - GPRS and MMS all working fine - seems to have no effect - it is only a *.lnk anyways........
thanks to asifqabil
who helped me out with this problem - I posted the answer here as quick as pos
Hi guys, I am having some little problems with my Xda2i as following.
1. I use button lock to stop using the camera button (as I always accidentally touch it then camera starts, many time I open camera without notice for long time till my battery almost gone!!) Every time I soft reset, it always turn to defalut mode.
2. Also the same happen with "today". I show some items such as Worldmate. When soft reset, it disappears (though I ticked to show it always)
3. Favorites network also the same, ticked it then changed after reset.
Could anybody please help me?.
Many many thanks in advance..
do what i have done removed the camera from my start up prgrams and allocated the button to none that way it can't activate
as for the others i'm not to sure ,i'm sure some1 else will be able to help
Sounds like somehow the registry has become read only. Have a look in the startup folder and see if there any programs in there that shouldn't be running. Also has this started after some program has been installed?
Hi Pug, checked my startup and found below program lists
-camera_detect
-checkautorun
-clear_notify
-IA_CID_start
-PHM Traylaunch
-PhotocontactPro
-Pocketnavy
-poutlook
-RunBT
-spb GPRS monitor
-STK
It seems like you doubt, it happens after program installation.
Any more advice?
Many many thanks
I don't doubt you at all, just trying to help you solve this.
PHM hasn't got a registry restore feature has it? If it has try disabling it. I don't use it so I don't know.
Don't know what that Pocket Navy is so can't comment on that.
If you delete Camera_Detect you can assign the camera button to something else if you want and the button assignment will survive a soft reset.
Sorry for my aweful english, Pug.
This problem wa before PHM installed, it should be ok (anyway I am not knowledgable to know if it has registry or not. I am too new hands)
Pocketnavy is "CloseAll" I like it more because it has window to see running programs and can select to close which one. THe most important is it free.
I will try to fix it as you recommend. Very appreciated your time to help.
Thanks again
Is there a cab for enabling vibrating key dialer for the Tilt? I've searched for it but I can't seem to find one. I guess vibrate and dialer are too common terms or I'm just useless at searching. Thanks in advance for any help.
This is the only one I've ever seen. It's a little util written by someone, I don't even remember where. (Otherwise I'd credit the person).
It mostly works. The only issue is the vibrate is delayed slightly, so it only vibrates if you press *deliberately* on the number. If you do a quick tap, it doesn't vibrate...
Thanks. Will give it a try.
Looks like some credit needs to go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=304767
But sounds like it was a rework of previous work so it might not be his.
Thanks for the cab file so I don't have to edit the registry every time I hard reset my machine
It's just a registry setting? Can you tell me the key and value?
Hi, I've got Himalaya with ToFClock's WM6, but I forgot my password it's a 5digit number. Is there way to bypass or crack it somehow? I can't hard reset it cause there's some very important data for me
Thanks
Lukas
Sorry for my bad english..
i think none, hard reset is the only option, had this problem once and there was the absence of replies, so i guess there is no solution to this. there is a password hint though, if you used it.
Well, I'm not sure this is the right way to do it, but cleaning the registry hive helped me alot, and it does not erase data. Just press the camera and the record buttons, reset, and hold them until it show you boot options. Using the same buttons, you should be able to select "yes" or "no" for each setting. Just choose "Clean Registry Hive" "Yes", and make sure the two others are set to "no" (especially "format storage" ). Then just press "enter". You device should start, with an empty windows registry, that means empty settings too. You will then have to configure your phone, but your contacts and messages and data will still be there.
@Ukii hope you learned that making backups is important?
@paulpax thanks for the invitation to your site but I'm not yet impressed, success.
I wondered if it was possible to change the options of the soft keys when i receive a notification and/or in certain programs. e.g. for my sms, when i have an sms selected in my inbox, my two soft key options are delete and menu, but how can these be changed.
I also wondered if i can change the soft keys when i receive a sms notification, my options are reply and menu.
i have searched the forums but have only found how to change the soft keys in the today screen. any help would be appreciated!!

He actually isn't asking how to change the soft keys on the today screen as he said....He is wondering how to change what the soft keys do when a program is open.
I'm not really sure how to do this either, but it more and less has to do something with the program itself and not the phone per se.

You, sir, are an a$$wipe of the highest order. You can't or won't contribute to his question, but rather in typical a$$wipe fashion, you are disrespectful and shmarmy to another forumite.
Go crawl back under your rock, you dodo.
so it cant be done then?? :
I'm not sure it is useful to call people names. Two wrongs making a right, and all that. Although I agree that searching is paramount I have to agree that this is an unusal question. I think, as previously stated, that this is written into the software application and it is not easily changed.
