PLEASE HELP!!! i need help upgrade to the New Radio 1.13.00 - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

Please i need help to upgrade to the new radio rom. i have a siemens sx66 from cingular. i tried to upgrade it but i always get an error.

Hi aih1977,
Please read the wiki. Cheers ^^

Hi khngaroo
i did but i still get an error

Same issue here
Hi guys,
Actually, I have the same issue. As far as I could see, the Wiki doesn't address the "123: Radio file checksum error" that I receive when following the directions. I follow the directions for using the downloads which doesn't go, then I use the files from the Siemens SX66 Upgrade as suggested.
Any thoughts? Thanks.

ever thought about reading the other threads ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=23814

Hum
Lets see the wiki 1.40 upgrade is in the first place a TPYE II upgrade.
Now if you spend sometime and READ the page you will see that there are 2 ways of doing a 1.40 upgrade. One is the whole rom in its type II format the other is just the CE and the radio Type I.
How ever if you don't read the page and think you are got it all worked out then you use the fast option, thats the MA_noID tool (Type II), then download the radio 1.13 which Is a type I but who cares about that any way....then you run the bugger and get a checksum error what the hell have I done now error.
Please correct me if I am wrong so that I can correct the wiki page.

MDAIIIUser,
Yes, I have thought about reading the other threads. What was not obvious to me was that I need to upgrade to the 1.40 ROM to be able to upgrade to the 1.13 Radio. Forgive me if I missed this.
Thanks for pointing this out. I'll start over and review all the 1.40 ROM threads.

lungbutter
You dont need to upgrade to CE 1.40 for the radio 1.13.
Just go to wiki and follow the radio upgrade page. It worked for me and many others.
Now if you want to upgrade to 1.40 then do that also on the wiki page, this will however give you the radio 1.12. (unless you read the whole of the page and understand the getting started section of wiki as in how to use fix.bat)

i tried everything can someone set up the files and link it so i can download it. i think im doing something wrong.

Can you click on the link in my signature?

Arg! Lost my post twice.
Anyhow, MDAIIIUser,
Ok. So the 1.40 ROM is not needed. That was my initial impression. I thought you were referring to reading the 1.40 ROM threads.
I also saw that many users were able to upgrade with no problems. That's why I was suprised when I received the checksum error after reading the 1.13 Radio threads and exactly following the Wiki several times before I gave up. I must have missed something because it seemed like the Wiki steps should've worked no problem.
I haven't found anyone posting that has upgraded the radio on a Siemens SX66 yet. I'm wondering if it's Siemens-related which is why I jumped on aih1977's thread (sorry ).
I'll start over and review the threads and directions, etc.
Thanks for your reponses.

so you are saying that
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Radio_1.13_Upgrade
does not work for you as you have a SX66.
This could be due to the fact that your device has no camera and the header of the rom is for a camera.
I have never read about having to fix the header for a radio upgrade, its a first for me but I can learn.
Please confirm
1) By following the link above I get an error
2) the error I get is the following
3) My rom at the moment is.

The new Radio ROM does work on a SX66 if you folloe the directions. If you have an issue use the upgrade files that you used to upgrade 1.40. Your going to get an error the 1st go around but then it will run smoothly the 2nd try.

MDA,
I'm running 1.13.00 radio on my SX66...
-Chris

Dear MDAIIIUser,
Correct me if I am wrong. All this while, from what I've read through the forum, my understanding is that MA_NoID can only be used to upgrade type II ROMs. If so, I must confess that I've upgraded my radio to 1.13 (type I) with MA_NoID... And it worked... Any clue?
Cheers ^^

Ok i just want someone to help me with upgrading the radio and if someone out there upgraded the radio please link it or pm me with the files that you used to do it.
Thank you.

MDAIIIUser,
Okay, I was able to get the radio stack upgraded to 1.12. Here's what I did. I'm sure it's pretty ugly and probably not the easiest way but:
Followed the Wiki again with errors as follows:
After step 7, running BaUpgradeUt I received the "Error 100: Model ID Error".
After step 5 of the second set of instructions, I received: "Error 123: Radio Image File Checksum Error". No joy.
So I then took the iMate 1.40 ROM image and extracted the files, deleted the ms_.nbf and nb_.nbf and ran MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe. It errored with Error 120: Country ID Error. The phone was still in USB mode so I reran MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe again and it successfully updated the Radio to 1.12. I tested the phone calling my voicemal with no problems.
I then replaced version 1.12 with the 1.13 version. I ran BaUpgradeUt.exe and recieved the "Error 123: Radio Image File Checksum Error" (this is using the files from the 1.40 ROM with the 1.13 radio file). I then tried running MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe again. The device software update utility showed no information in the from or to sections of the dialog box. It doesn't throw the phone into USB mode and after a minute or so it offers congratulations thinking it upgraded the phone.
I then went back to the 1.13 Radio files I downloaded and ran MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe. I received the Error 100: Model ID Error".
I reran MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe and received an error that it coundn;t find the ruu.conf file so I renamed the htcruu.conf and htcruu.dll ruu.conf and ruu.dll. I reran it and it would attempt to update the radio, then timeout. I received a communications error (which I didn't record) then tried to soft reset the phone. It was stuck in USB or Serial mode. Cold boot no worky either.
I then reflashed back to 1.12 successfully. I will try to update to 1.13 later tonight or tomorrow.
Here is my phone info. before the update:
Siemens SX66 Cingular
Model No: PH20B1
ROM Date: 01/21/05
Radio Version: 1.02.10
Protocol Version: 1337.35
Ext. ROM Version: 1.33.110 WWE
Thanks for the responses. I'm sure that there's an easier way but I'm happy to be at least 1.12.

Edited: Type on filenames.

God are we having fun.
And Boy am I lost.
This is what I can work out.
You flashed the i-mate rom 1.40 radio 1.12 got errors and re ran it it was fine. Thus you have a 1.40 with radio 1.12
Now you are stuck. you want to flash the radio 1.13 (Type I) using the wiki info and you get error that tells me that you have the wrong device. The file is for a device with a camera you dont have that.
You try the MA_tool which wont work as its for type 2 and gives you a checksum and your stuffed again.
You seem to be the first person that has come up agaisnt this thus we need to upddate wiki with new info.
I have a problem with this as the 1.12 was a type II to Type I convert that I made, nobody had a problem with that before.
So as I asked you to confirm what you have and you have not done that I will ask again.
Please confirm

MDAIIIUser,
Sorry for the confusing post. I wanted to provide some detail. Answers are as follows:
1) Yes.
2) ..."Followed the Wiki again with errors as follows:
After step 7, running BaUpgradeUt I received the "Error 100: Model ID Error". After step 5 of the second set of instructions, I received: "Error 123: Radio Image File Checksum Error".

Radio version: 1.12.00
Protocol version: 1337.42
ExtROM version: 1.33.110 WWE
I believe that I don't actually have the 1.40 ROM. From the directory in whcih I decompressed the iMate 1.40 ROM (PDA2k_WWE_14000_176_11200.exe) I removed the ms_nbf and nb_.nbf files and left the radio_.nbf file, which I believe will only flash the radio, then updated.
Is that less confusing?
Thanks,
lb
aih1977,
We are actually trying to determine what the issue may be to update your radio on the SX66. Hang in there!

BaUpgradeUt.exe refuses to start due to RUU

I keep trying to run the BaUpgradeUt.exe and it crashes right away with an RUU error, anyone know the reason for this?
RUU has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
SX66 with T-Mobile USA
This question has been posted by You before:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=123215#123215
If you did not get an answer is could be due to the fact that you don't tell us much about what you did, what version you are trying to upgrade, what version you have now.
i got the rom files from ftp://xdaupload:[email protected]/Blueangel/SX66/Beta2-S1.40.00-R1.12.00.E1.40.122.rar
RAR file includes
System 1.40.00
Radio 1.12.00
Ext ROM 1.40.122
I unrar the upgrade into a clean dir, softbooted my sx66, placed back into the crib then made sure activesync was running as well as connected, Then I ran the BaUpgradeUt.exe. from there it crashes instantly with this error message
"RUU has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. "
My device is a SX66 on T-mobile USA
Current Settings
ROM 1.32.19 WWE
ROM date 12/17/04
Radio version 1.06.02
Protocol version 1337.38
ExtROM version 1.32.115 WWE
try a pc reboot you might have an old version still running in the background.
I tried that, I even tried on a totally different Computer

MDA PROBLEMS: I have no idea

Hi all
I am posting here in the slightest hope that someone can help me out. In a nutshell I have a T-Mobile MDA III PH20B that has ceased working
I have tried hard resets but still have no joy and wondered if someone could help?
First off, on the back of the MDA once the battery is removed it shows;
Model PH20B
IMEI 35303000.......
When it starts up, in the bottom right corner it shows;
NO GSM
D1.06.00 ENG
If I choose START > SETTINGS > DEVICE INFO I see the following on the different tabs;
VERSION
Rom Version: 1.06.00 ENG
Rom Date: 08/05/04
Radio version:
Protocol version:
ExtROM Version: 1.06.117 WWE
IDENTITY
Model No: PH20B
Platform PocketPC
IMEI: (and no number!!!)
Problem is, the phone will not work following me trying to upgrade the ExtRom from the T-Mobile website (http://www.tm-phonedownloads.com/download_manager_mda_3.html). It now keeps bombing out out with an error message saying;
ERROR 120: COUNTRY ID ERROR n-n-38-38-38
The ROM image that you are trying to use is not designed to work with your device. Please check the vender Website and download the correct ROM update.
This has never been tampered with, has never been unlocked and is now dead as a dodo. Can anyone please off any advice on how I can get it backup and running? I am lost (no pun intended) without my Bluetooth TomTom and phone.
When it connects to its cradle, my PC can still see it, so I am able to copy files to and from it. Thats about all I can do with it though
frostie
Well it seems like you MDAIII has a corupt system and thus you need to reflash it.
Best option for you is wiki.
Go to the link in my signature and see if you can find a original version that you can flash it with.
The No GMS means that the radio part is corupt.
The 1.06 means that you have a OLD version of the OS as we are now at 1.42.
The fact that you can still copy files just proves that the device can be seem but without a radio it is not much of a phone.
The country code error you can get arond by using the MaUpgradeUt_noID.ZIP application.
In all you will find out most of what you need of wiki.
Follow the link for the radio upgrade to solve the NO GSM
Follow the link for the 1.42 for the os
And BTW wellcome to xda-developers (its your first post)
Cheers for the welcome. Yup, first post so had to make sure that I included as much info as I possible could to show that I am atleast trying to help myself
Thanks for the pointers. I will work my way through them and let you know how I get on.
Very much appreciated.
Backup and running
You want to know what the problem was? I feel ashamed
When it says Bootloader Mode - I got that far, but then pressed the on/off switch to fire it up again. I didn't realise the upgrade happened when it was a dark screen with just Serial or USB on it.
Shame!
Anyway thanks for your help as its back up and running, and up to date with 1.42 and 1.15 I also thought 'sod it' and have managed to make it SIM free too
Again, many thanks.
Well 3 posts later and you now have 1.42 radio 1.15 and sim free, thats wiki for you.
Now cook your extened rom and get rid of all the operator crap.

Old Radio Stack Won't Upgrade

[writing from work in a hurry, so excuse me for not having all my details in front of me]
I'm a long-time avid user/flasher of the Wizard who recently bought an old BA on eBay for my wife. First thing I did was download the xplode WM5 ROM and flash the sucker. Very nice and now up-to-date.
Call volumes sucked, so I checked her Radio version, and it was 1.02 or something ridiculously old. I tried to flash the newer 1.15 Radio Rom using the bootloader app that came with it (MAUUpdate something). I got a country code error, so I added the special line to the config file to cheat.
Now it starts the process and never gets past 0% on radio flash. Just hangs. And then some strange 114 error when it finally dies.
I've tried with the newest MaUpgradeUt_noID files I could find. I even tried the 1.13 Radio ROM with no change.
I even re-flashed to WM2003 and tried to flash just the Radio from there. Kept getting "wrong device" message or connection error or something. I tried multiple times in a row (one post suggested the first time will error but second time will work).
I did SIM unlock just in case (Cingular on Cingular so shouldn't have been a problem).
Any suggestions out there? I think I've tried everything!
And yes, I've read all posts and wiki's. (Usually I read only Wizard, but have extended my reading to cover the BA).
Have you tried downgraging to WM2003 then upgrading to Radio 1.15 then finally back to WM5?
I had upgraded my radio ROM when still on WM2003 and found no problems!

yes, I did. mentioned that above.
I get either country code error (or after correcting that per the wiki advice, I get long period of hang followed by an odd error 113. I think.
does device origin matter? my BA is from ebay and the getdeviceinfo.cab leaves me a blank result except model number and a few random numbers...
I take it that when everyone else flashed to WM5, they followed the simple Wiki instructions and everything went fine? I think I got some odd-ball sub-model that is resistant to Radio flash.
Downgrade Your BA to the WM2003SE, then unlock it with xda3_all_unlock-v1.6_138.exe tool (You can find it in the BA forum here with description how to use it) then try to flash the Radio ROM You want....And then You might upgrade to WM 5.x again if only You wish.
I've tried one of the other sim unlock apps already (successfully) without solving the problem (was tried on WM5). I'll try the order of downgrade, unlock, then upgrade and see if it works.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Jeremy how did it go? are you able to upgrade to the latest radio rom? I also have the same problem as you do. Do you mind telling me the steps if you somehow able to upgrade to latest rom?
this worked for me. after you flash to a new rom (like xplode's), do not take out the BA yet. flash to the new 1.15 radio rom. then you can do the no/yes/yes routine.

Help XDA2s CID preventing me from upgrading with official rom

Hi recently aquired an XDA2s from a friend. However, the firmware has been modified. Would like to restore it back to the original firmware as the SDIO card is not functional. Used the Official ROM, but gave a Country ID error with my device and refused to upgrade.
Have done some homework read the instructions as shown on this link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=228852.
However, i am stuck halfway. Here is my Devicetype.txt file description. Only managed to get the Devicetype as PH20B, Language ID = WWE. The rest of the info I can't really make out.
Also, when i use the file : xda2nbftool -t -x,
it gave a warning for ms_.nbf
The rest of the files such as nk.nba and radio.nbf were ignored. See pic.
How do i get the rest of the hex addresses for the radio and nk files ?
Could someone help to generate the final nbf files for me or help advise ?
The Official ROM file versions are here :
English ROM
ROM: 1.40.00 WWE
Date: 03/10/05
Radio: 1.12.00
Protocol: 1337.42
ExtROM: 1.40.923 WWE
MMS: 2.0.0.21
BT: 1.0.0 Build 3900
Can anyone help ?
More information on my existing XDA2s firmware :
ROM Version : 5.04.09.WWE
ROM Date : 11/02/06
Radio Version : 1.15.00
Protocol Version : 1337.45
ExtROM Version : (Left Blank)
Never really heard of ROM Version 5.04.09.WWE. And SDIO Card is not detected. Would like to downgrade to the official ROM as i suspect that the SDIO Drivers are not installed in the existing ROM.
Also, i tried using XDAtools\OSimagetool to copy another XDA2s firmware to this XDA2s. But it failed to write generating an error in the pic. Status of Activesync is connected.

I'm afraid you have read the wrong homework. Those directions are for the Himalaya & Andes, not the angel.
What OS is on the phone now? That will help point to the correct directions needed to reflash the phone.
Flashing to 2003 from WM5 or 6 will vary depending on if the extended ROM has been resized, etc.
Check the angel getting started in the wiki (It's working now)
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_GettingStarted
Oh ... thanks for pointing that out. To answer more questions :
It's running on a generic Windows mobile 5.0. I have a feeling that the Ext rom is already corrupted as the gsm portion of the phone is not functioning properly. I'll do a readup and revert my results. Thanks.
here's the thing. if you have a problem with the CID... all you have to do is find the exe file here named MAUpgradeUt_NoId.exe... use that instead of the exe provided in your Official Rom, i guess that would be WM2003se you are installing.
afaik, extrom havent have a thing to do with the GSM.
Thanks for the reply.
Thing now is that i am trying to downgrade from wm2005 to wm2003 (o2 official asian rom v1.42) But then looks like i am trying in vain.
Tried to do what is in the directions for wm2005->wm2003 by setting it to bootloader mode, doing a hardreset and using maupgrade_no_id with the official nk.nbf
But then it hangs while the check is being done. The xda2s screen shows v2.08 and serial. It changes to usb once the usb cable is plugged in.
Is there any other method i can do to downgrade it ?

Having problems updating radio on SX66 (Blue Angel)

Hello, I upgraded my Blue Angel (SX66) to WM6.1 last week. I wanted to upgrade the radio from 1.02 to 1.15 but I have not been able to. I keep getting Error 101 (disconnect).
The device information shows the following info about my device:
Operator version : WM6.1PPC Phone
ROM version: 6.141WWE HT4.20
ROM date: 09/18/08
Radio version: 1.02.00
Protoco; version: 1337.32
ExtROM version: Black Kernel
Model No: PH20B1
Also, the RUU mode on my device shows BlueAngel and by USB mode is v2.06. I checked the beginners' section on this site and tried every possible trick (bootloader mode, modifying the country, etc). So, far nothing has worked. I would appreciate some guidance on this matter. Thanks!
remember the folder that you use when you upgrade to the latest ROM? Copy that same older on a different location on your PC and then open it and just delete the nk.nbf file and replace it with the latest radio rom which is 1.15.00 for BA and then run the same process, make sure the activesync is not running and your BA is in bootloader mode. Hope this helps.
Still having problems updating radio on Blue Angel
Thanks for the reply. However, that is still not solving my problem. I getting ERROR 101. CONNECTION ERROR. I tried the BAupgradeut in Bootloader mode. and I get the same problem. I read about a utililty called ROMupdate11a.exe and tried it, but it is still not working.
I wish I would've realized how difficult this process is. I would've made an effort to buy a Blue Angel device w/ updated firmware.
PS: I have read the Blue Angel beginners' section and the wiki and tried (to the best of my ability) to try all the tricks listed there. This is why I hope someone out there has experienced and solved the same problems I have.
Thanks again. I will keep looking, and hoping for a solution.
have you tried MAupgrade_UTL??? Ok like this, try to revert back your BA's ROM to wm2003se first, then do the Radio upgrade and afterwards upgrade to the latest ROM
I think I know why I cannot upgrade radio
I suspect that my Blue Angel's BIOS is damaged. I used the GetDeviceData to find get exact ROM for my PH20B1 device (see attached). I used to get PH20B1 on the DeviceData.txt file. Now I get a lot of garbled characters in the section where the model # used to be. Also, when I go to Device Information (under the WM6 settings section), I see the same garbled characters where the Model No section is.
I also cannot find the Country section. This may also explain why my phone fails to recognize any ROMs (even those flagged as WWE --- from the USA). That is not good, I think.
My fear is that my device will not accept any ROM updates (or downgrades). Does the above make sense? If so, have I messed up my Blue Angel for good or is there still hope? Thanks.
Never mind, problem solved. Thanks!!!
Hello again. I just wanted to let you all know that my Blue Angel is OK (finally). A friend of mine, who also has an SX66 successfully applied the Radio 1.15 ROM upgrade (after he unlocked my device). I am all set now. Thanks for your assistance and guidance.
