The Kaiser will be my second Win Mob device (8525 is what I am currently using).
I wonder what is the general experience with moving purchased applications to the new device.
Does a new IMEI create no barriers to continued use?
Are software houses amenable to issuing new reg codes for the apps you have purchased?
Does this mean re-purchasing all the apps that I have come to count on each day?
Err, most paid software comes with this thing called activation key...
and of those, most of them are keys generated through the owners' name.
(You can tell this if it displays the owners name on the registration file).
FYI: Activation keys will change if it is not the same version. So if you backuped your cabs and have your keys, then there should be no issue into installing it on another ppc.
I bought resco explorer 2005 a while ago. It works on my friends ppc and mine, while under the same name.
Well, Yeah.
I referred to "activation key" as "reg(istration) code."
However, some apps, like Opera are locked to the IMEI and you need a new reg code.
I was wondering what issues folks had had with apps where the reg code is linked to the electronic serial number (IMEI) of the device.
Hi everyone,
i went to a 3store today to get a TYTN 2 on 3 network UK. I thought we could use the free skype minutes they offer on other handsets, but they said no, use the wifi!!!
I was wondering if anyone knows a way to connect to their skype service. Thanks
PS: Please include links to any software or recent methods you might know.
Hi, I'd also like to know if this possible. Have a 3 PAYG sim and get 30 days free skype when I pay for the internet add-on but cannot work out how to use the 3G network for my calls. Cheers
I think fring will do what you want.
The website says you can make skype calls.
www.fring.com "fring is based on a unique thin-client technology that for the first time enables true VoIP over 3G, GPRS and WiFi networks"
I installed it on my stock rom AT&T Tilt (Kaiser) but have not tested.
I hope that helps.

Thanks but i think for that you should have access to the internet. I can easily use the skype program instead. The problem is that skype is not the type of skype 3 network is using ( they use a java based program).
I read an article and someone had used the skype from a LG phones with 3 and Esmertec Jbed, but that was an Australian version. does anyone have a UK version?
This would rock if it is possible! Anyone know where to download a UK version?
I think we need to find someone with a non nokia phone from 3 UK, so he can give us the jar file. preferably LG
What do you think?
anyone from uk? or anyone knows a professional UK website? please
Anyone found this?
Can anyone with a TyTn II from the 3 network confirm if it comes with Planet 3 and Skype software installed?
I use Three...
Ah, you forgot to read the ultra-small fine print that states that the offer for *all* phones has expired and it's now only on *selected* handsets that seem to exclude the TyTN 2, also you can't get the sim-only and install the Three free Skype or Live Messenger on a non-Three phone+rom without some custom ROM hacking.
To make matters worse, if you get the £5 Unlimited Internet Access, the small print is that Three block Skype and Live Messenger so they can't be used (thought I think you can buy the £10 option that allows them?) - even if you want to pay for them outside the unlimited bundle. You can use IM+ BeejiveIM etc, to access Live Messenger though, and as far as I'm aware it seems to be included in the Unlimited access...
Oh, and if you want to access Planet3/My3 on your phone you can do so, but first you need to go into Advanced Config and change your "User Agent Custom Base" to "HTC_TyTN_II Mozilla/4.0" and then use the URL "http://mobile.three.co.uk/837_sc/index.do"
The Planet3/My3 will only work when accessing the page though the 3 connection and not WiFI or ActiveSync, but is acuttaly pritty nifty at checking you accound balance, tops ups, addons and such like.

Thanks a lot for the information you provided. Damn it, I made a big mistake as i could've got the Nokia N95 with Skype and Live Msg + unlimited internet for £5 cheaper every month...!
Hi guys,
This is a solution for the Skype on Three network issue. I had placed it on another forum (http://www.3g.co.uk/3GForum/showthread.php?p=385677) and one guy has reported it working, but apparently, it might not work with WM5, only with WM6. Please give it a whirl and let me know if it works for you.
Feedback is great for both me as well as others

Annuntio vobis gaudium magnum
(I have great and joyous news)
I believe that I have succeeded in getting the native Iskoot WM6 client for Skype to connect to the Three/3 service. I am still testing it and would appreciate your feedback.
Steps
a) Download and install the Iskoot client for Windows Mobile 6 . Try the direct link here (http://www.iskoot.com/pc_download/Wi...1.54_WMpro.CAB)
b) After installation, start the application, but DO NOT sign in. Instead exit it. The reason for doing this is to create the default registry entries for Iskoot.
c) Now start your favourite registry editor (I personally use Resco Registry Editor, but you should be able to use any. Please do not ask me how to use the registry editor. This is not the appropraite forum.)
d) Head for the following location in the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ISKOOT\SKYPE\DEVICE
e) Update all the following entries to the same value "http://mobile.three.co.uk/948" (do not include the "double quotes")
BackupHost
CallUrl
DefaultSkHost
Pushhost
f) Exit the registry editor of choice and start and log into Iskoot. This might take some time. It took me about five minutes.
It should now be configured to connect to the 3 Skype service. To cross-verify, check that the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ISKOOT\SKYPE\DEVICE\Cal lNumber has the value +447838333894 (the 3 Skype dial-out number). It should be automatically added by the software.
As I have mentioned earlier, I am still testing this. However, with this implementation, it should not use your included minutes, but the free Skype allocation. Please test the same and let us all know if that is the case or you have noticed that your inclusive minutes have been used up.
I do not know how to modify cabs. But if somebody can rebuild the original Iskoot cab with these settings built-in, that would be great.
I have noticed that the sound quality on this is considerably better as compared to the Skype Java client.

Thanks for the information. I tried it on my Hermes and it worked great.
Unfortunately, when I tried the same thing on my Kaiser, all I ever get is "Currently unable to connect".
I can't see why there would be any difference between the two phones, but the Hermes never fails and the Kaiser never succeeds!
Any suggestions?

For Windows Mobile 6.1, MS .net Framework 3.5 is required, otherwise, "Currently unable to connect" error might appear
SkypeOut is officially supported (if not, very soon) by 3UK,
http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/allfeatures/3skypephone/overseascalling/
with some restrictions (read the small print!)
I failed to get Skypein to work, however.
And Skypeout is a bit unstable at the moment, might be 3UK is upgrading their servers...

I think what some people did is to download a java version of the iskoot (for other non-WM phone) and decompiled the java class/jad file and find the URL string. I guess if you can somehow intercept the outgoing network traffic from a 3 customized iskoot client running on another phone (perhaps on a Symbian phone trying to communicate to the server via wifi, which wouldn't connect successfully I believe, but still let you), parse the network packet to find out its intended destination will do the trick too.

Thanks for the tip, but the problem is that the only phone with skype is the amoi 8512 (http://www.3skypephone.com/english/index.html have you ever seen it?) I do not have x-series with skype, but a specific offer wich works only with this phone. This phone does not have wifi, so I cannot sniff packet through network, and the iskoot client is not java, but specifically made for it (when I run it, the Java log does not apper), so I do not know how I could extract the url. The only thing I have done is to get its user agent to replace it on the Tytn II, the Amoi 8512 user agent is " Amoi 8512/R22.0 NF-Browser/3.3" without double quote, of course.

I was in your situation until a week ago when I found the 3 UK setting. It is so frustrating that I knew all it requires is a correct URL address yet I didn't know what it is!
What you may want to try is to first identify which X-series phone that 3 Italy support apart from the skypephone. And then change your Tytn II 's broswer agent string to one of those phone that use a JAVA iskoot client instead of a native client like Symbian client. Then use your phone browser to 3 ITA portal and try to download the iskoot (Skype) software. 3 ITA server should now think that you have a compatible phone so it will present you with the Java client. Once you go the .jar file, you can proceed to extract the URL from there...
I think people used SEW910I to get the 3 Australia client.
Try this for the Browser agent string:
SonyEricssonW910i/R1CA Browser/NetFront/3.4 Profile/MIDP-2.1 Configuration/CLDC-1.1
I tried the above suggestion myself to try to get the URL from 3 UK's client, but I can't remember why I stopped, and then later I found that the URL is already know on some other forums on the Internet...
Good luck!

I will have a look at this right now. Thanks for your help
This is a new thread to discuss unlocking with sim-unlocker.com & their client software.
Please keep discussion about sim-unlocker.com here, and not in other threads dedicated to different unlocking services.
HTC TOUCH HD Unlocked
I used http://www.sim-unlocker.com/ they charged me £13.44 thru paypal, after completing the payment they redirected me to a webpage with the software and a file which i guess contained the IME, ran the unlock software and everythings is good it's unlocked!!! hihi tha whole process from the payment till i got the phone unlocked took less than 5 minutes. NO WAINTING NECESSARY, EASY, INSTANT AND CHEAPER THAN ANY OTHER RIPP OFFZ OUT THERE. Attached is the .rar file with the unlock software and the ime.unl file that i downloaded from http://www.sim-unlocker.com/ my guess is if somehow you can manage to change the ime in the ime.unl file and change to your phone's IME (found on the back of the phone if you remove the battery) it should work.
*****Only for those who can manage to change the IME number in the ime.unl file to their IME. The IME in the ime.unl file has my IME incorporated so if you can find a way to change it to your IME, it should work***** The unlock code i got from the unlock software for my phone was 04686206 try it on your phone and it might work for you
***Instructions***
1- The unlock software and the ime.unl file must be on the same folder when you run the Unlock software (BLAC001-unlocker.exe remember to run it as administrator)
2- Make sure you have Microsoft ActiveSync for those running XP or Sync Center for those running Vista and setup a partnership.
3- When Microsoft ActiveSync or Sync Center says Connected, run the program and follow the prompts.
Sim Unlocker
Sorry, no file attached. Would guess that we would also need to know your imei code to identify and change.
Hi,
I can only highly recommend sim-unlocker.com. After many, many weeks of frustrated attempts, within 2 days I was able to unlock the phone.
Also, ever since I got in touch with them, following DavidMc0 advice, they were extremely fast in replying, and tried to get a solution out to me fast. The solution, in the end, worked fine.
Also, regarding posting here the soft and unlocking file that they provide, I would not recommend it... they are phone specific, and, in fact, they are the result of the unlocking company's efforts... Here, I believe you pay a very reasonable (read low) amount for their program, but also for their very good and responsive support.
Regards,
P.

just wanted to say,

it's really worth the 15€ (compared to 399€ my network provider wanted me to pay )

Hi,
Today when I ordered my flight tickets i got a SMS with a link to see flight-information. In the browser i also got a "barcode" (QR/DR code? Im not sure).
I have tried the Marked to find an application to scan this code directly from my Android Webbrowser, but I cant find any. (Its pretty hard to use my phone cam to scan my phone screen )
Does anyone knows how?
Forward the SMS to your email account, check your email on a PC, scan the barcode from there
Hmmm, isnt there any barcode scanner that could read from the phone-display? :-((
Dont understand why WAP pages uses this kind of content if the cellphones arent able to use it straight from the phone-webbrowser?
- Kind of irritating that you have to lunch the wap page in a PC-browser and than scan the barcode. I doesnt always have my computer with me, and the reason why im using Andorid- and/or WM-OS, is just because that I could use my phone as a substitute for my computer when I dont have it around.
Tried your solution with "Barcode Scanner", but it didnt reconize it?? Maybe I have to use another type of scanner/app?
Here is the barcode (added the red line because the barcode have personal information)
Er, I was just suggesting a workaround until you found something that worked like you specified
Your QR code looks weird anyway, they usually have boxes in 3 of the corners.
Example
Its seems like my QR Code has one box only - and thats in the middle. Isn' it a QR Code maby?
Looks like the code is a DM Code: Example

It's neither a QR code nor a DM code. I don't know the specific name of it, but the picture you provided above is a new bar code that, as far as I know, is only used for paperless boarding passes. I don't know about internationally, but here in the US, it's currently only available at a few dozen airports while the system is being tested. I've used it flying out of both Newark, NJ (EWR) and Atlanta, GA (ATL).
It's a special 2D barcode that contains encrypted information about your flight information, as well as some personal information to identify you. It is specifically designed to be secure so that only the TSA and the airlines can decode the information. Most likely, the reason you received it was not so that you could scan it to get information about your ticket, but so that the TSA could scan it at security and the airline could scan it at the gate. Ideally, you wouldn't then need to print out a paper boarding pass, all you would need is your phone! (I say ideally, because since it's a brand new program, not everybody's really familiar with it yet, and you get some funny looks from the gate agents sometimes!)
Hey Guys,
I'm trying to setup my Exchange Server 2010 for Active Sync with my O2 XDA Diamond 2 (HTC Touch Diamond 2 bought at O2 Germany). Synchronization without SSL works just fine, but since I don't like my Login to be sent in clear text, I'm trying to setup SSL support, and that's where the problems started. Since I'm using my own CA the certificates issued aren't recognized as trustworthy. This applies to the SSL-certificates too.
When I try to install my own root-cert. on the device (by dubble-clicking on the cert) it says "Certificate successfully installed", but when I take a look into the cert.-store it has only been installed as "Zwischenzertifizierungsstelle" not as "Stamm/Root". I've been searching for hours now, but I can't come up with a resolution. Even tried to copy the registry keys under HKCU\Comm\Security\SystemCertificates\ but had no success either.
Hope someone can help me with my problem cause I really don't want to spend money for those expensive certs just for private use.
Cheers and keep up the good work!
Try this cab, should disable certificate warning.
Thanks for the hint, but as far as I know those are only the certificates for unsigned apps. Didn't have any problems with that yet, thank you anyway.
Maybe O2 locked the root certificate store. Anybody knows something about that? Especially how to unlock the store without HardSPL?
