Can anyone help? I used XDA tools to back up my VPx ROM 1.22 before I upgraded to Qtek 1.40. This was a success but I am not convinced that it is entirely stable so would like the option to roll back. Using XDA tools to do so I get an error that my device is not connected via USB - it seems like Program A is not running or correctly responding. Am I missing something obvious? I have checked through Wiki but could not find anything; alternatively, is there a way for me to convert the .nb1 file saved from XDA tools into a standard set of files for a conventional "upgrade" instead?
Many thanks!

Hi Guys,
I have an I-Mate PDA2K with problems.
I'm new on this site and I'm in a bit of a pickle with the 2005 upgrade ROM...
The upgrade went fine and it was interesting to see what can be expected from the new OS but it still isn't user friendly enough for me just yet.
My problem is that I can't downgrade back to the original ROM, I have a copy of it which I have used several times but now when I try to reflash it it comes up with an error saying...
"ERROR 120: COUNTRY ID ERROR"
"The ROM image that you are trying to use is not designed to work with your device. Please check the vendor website and download the correct ROM update"
Then it lets me choose "Exit"
This as you can imagine is quite worrying as I have now lost most of the original functionality of the device.
If anyone knows how to remove it so that I can replace with the original OS I would be very grateful.
Thanks
Terry
PS - Please send any ideas to [email protected]
Thanks
You need to go into bootloader mode first. Check the Wiki.
Thanks Mastiff, you're a Star
No problem. But you can't lock/hide your extended ROM again, which I suppose you've already found out.
I'm a bit confused- it says on the wiki that if you downgrade to 2k3se from 2k5 after repartitioning DOC, then the ext rom will forever be visible. Why isn't this the case with mine? I followed all the instructions, copied my ext rom over after repartitioning a new ext rom and hard reset and it has disappeared again. Not complaining, just thought the doc repartioning tool reset the rom password.
Anyone else had this?
Im using XDA IIs, i've just rolled back to WM2K3SE and i couldnt see my O2 Connect applications and auto configurations tools ? where does it's go?
Hello,
I've downloaded XDA Manipulator, and studied the VB source code. Unfortunately, I do not have a USB to serial cable, so I cannot run the program.
However, I tried using the EXEs that ship with aWizard to read the same addresses that XDA Manipulator seems to use, in an attempt to get to the same data. Alas, the ROM read tools return a NULL error - the ROM addresses are somehow out of range?
I'm trying to figure out how XDA Manipulator would read the ROM of my device and obtain my IMEI, I should be able to do that with the aWizard ROM reading tools, right?
Or would the XDA Manipulator not even work with my device - HTC Wizard - in the first place? (Phone is fully SIM and CID unlocked)
If you're just trying to read the IMEI, there are other ways to do this using normal API calls. Check out PocketPCDN.

Actually, I'm trying to read the IMEI from ROM, so I can first verify I have the right section of ROM, and the next step will be writing back to that area of the ROM. No luck so far though...
Hello everyone,
First - I'm really happy to have found this resource. I had no idea about all the cool things I could do to my phone. Thanks to everybody for all your hard work.
I spent a lot of time reading up with the goal of upgrading to a Windows Mobile 6 ROM. But now I need some help please, because I can't get my phone back!
I determined that my phone is a G4 (IPL/SPL of 2.16.0001). I attempted to load various WM6 Roms (TNT 4.0 Official and XDA Mobile 6), without success (error 300). Eventually, I succeeded in loading Wizard Love 2.26.10.2, and booted into Windows successfully. I then tried to load TNT 4.0 on. It got up to 100%, rebooted - and now I am stuck on the RGB / bootloader screen. Plugging in USB cable gives me the USB txt in the bottom left, but no response from the computer. The various RUU utilities I have tried to restore the phone back to Wizard Love or official iMate ROMs all fail - they can't seem to find the phone.
I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks you in advance.
Regards,
Nick
Progress!
More research led me to find that WinXP should be able to install a new ROM without ActiveSync - in fact, you need to disable ActiveSync USB connections and end wscecomm.exe via task manager.
These steps allowed me to attempt flashing of a new ROM:
1. Uninstall device from device manager
2. Turn off device completely
3. Disable USB in ActiveSync
4. End process "wscecomm.exe" via Task Manager
5. Plug in phone, windows will detect and install as a Windows CE. This will make wscecomm.exe load again. End this before running the RUU tool
6. Run RUU. When detecting your phone, it will run wscecomm.exe. I kept ending it and crashing the RUU . RUU stops it itself.
7. Finally my phone was detected and I was able to proceed to flashing without an RUU error. Previously, i was getting error 260, 264, 300...
I was greedy and attempted to load XDA Mobile 6. It got to 99% and crashed. I will try and get back to Wizard Love.
If somebody could tell me what I am missing / doing wrong that would be great. To summarise:
- I have been able to install Wizard Love
- I have a G4 i-mate KJAM
- TNT 4.0 has reached 100%. On reboot, I only got boatloader.
- After many hours trying to fix, I finally was able to attempt to flash XDA 6 r2. It reached 99% before crashing
I will now try to put Wizard Love back on, but I really want to run WM 6.0 and am not very concerned about which flavour. Thanks for your help
No...You shouldn't use RUU for upgrading to WM6 because your G4 is not unlocked (You need to pay to unlock a G4, however it is not required if you don't use RUU).
Flash to Wizard Love, then get a copy of ShellTool and use it to flash the nk.nbf inside WM6 RUU.
no worries. I have the same phone and running XDA r2a, so it can be done!
Simply get hold of G4_step_by_step_install_wm6 I think theres a link to rapidshare on this forum, try search. (I will try get the link later on.) Follow the steps and it has shelltool which will extract th OS for and you can then install. Make sure you get the splash screens from XDA thread so you get the full package.
Good luck

You need this: ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/WIZARD/Unlocking/ShellTool_bugfixed.zip
G4_step_by_step_install_wm6 will give u step by step guide on what to do.
Thank you
Hey guys - thanks so much, I can't wait to get stuck into it.
You know I spent my whole weekend getting into this stuff and I'm sure I have only just scratched the surface!
I think it's fantastic that so many of you put so much work into this, and then also have time to guide people through the process.
Regarding the FTP links throughout these forums - They never seem to work for me. I get an error 550 - failed to change directory. These are links with usernameassword of xda:xda. The only link that worked had something different, along the lines of xdaupload:xda, can't remember for sure.
What am I doing wrong?
Just get the G4_step_by_step, forget everything else. Its on rapidshare. It has even a WM6 Rom in it so you can even that on your Wizard. But you can install XDA R2a also by following the step by step guide and knowing what to replace. Have you downloaded it? Its about 75MB but well worth every bit of it! You wont need anything else after that.
We learn from each other! Thats why we help others so they help us too

The forum carried many ROMs before. Micro$oft had some opinion on this and hence the ROMs were all removed. Most of the 550 errors would be due to this.

Hi Gurus,
Tried upgrading using different methods to O2 XDA IIs Asia Eng rom, however all methods seem to fail. Have already read the readme file.
a) Using Activesync and MaUpgradeUt__NoId.exe with the new rom.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Downgrade_WM5
Activesync 4.5 somehow connects at first, detects the rom versions, and closes without warning, leaving the xda2s disconnected giving connection errors.
b) Using manual method,
Using editfix.exe & getdevicedata.exe
Somehow gets warning errors about invalid passwords and wrong header file.
Is it a type 2 rom ?
c) Done hardreset and Going direct into bootloader (V.2.08) and using usb cable without activesync. The word serial does not change to usb, hence there is no connection through usb to the xda in bootloader mode.
Any ideas ? SD Card interface is not working. My guess is that the drivers for usb and sdio is not working. Any input ? I know that the usb cable and interface is working as i can browse the windows folder using activesync.
Updates
Managed to solve the issue with the bootloader mode detecting usb.
I'm trying to download from WM2005 to WM2003 (O2 Official WWE 1.42 release - Asian version.)
Followed the steps exactly in this link :
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Downgrade_WM5
Copied the official nk.nbf rom to the downgrade folder as instructed. When i ran MaUpgradeut_noid.exe, the screen stuck at the checking of info of device. does not seem to be able to flash in bootloader.
I'm using v2.08 of the bootloader (and usb is being displayed.)
Am i doing anything wrong ? Is there an alternate method ? This doesn't seem to work for me.
please help
i've got a ppc660kit and i did the processing and when it was done and i reset it show some colored screen and at the bottom it says no gsm and d 5. somthing.
please help
thanks

just a guess, are you trying to flash your device from a widows vista pc, because connection errors especially happen there, because windows downloads new drivers while flashing, disconnecting your device, normally the manuals here are detailed step by step and seem to work for every compatible device, so there is probably the vista thing, a broken cradle or cable which is rather unlikely, or a general software issue with your pc
i forgot to ask, why are you using a Maupgrade, isn't he general upgrade file for blueangel compatible devices the Baupgrade?
nevermind
no i got it. i uploaded the 2.0.3 on my phone it fix the phone. but still shows the 4 color screen, that doesn't matter it still works
thanks anyways guys
Sorry... title should read XDA IIs
I recently bought an O2 Xda IIs (Win 2003) - 1.40.00 WWE and loved it so much that I decided to buy another from Ebay. This one was upgraded to WM5 5.03.02 WWE but it's not very stable and quite slow. Also the camera and bluetooth don't seem to work.
I'd like to downgrade to 2003, but don't have any success.
I've done the full hard reset and tried to re-flash the ROM but the RUU program doesn't show me the ROM version.
I seem to be going around in circles from post to post, and I can't seem to get past this stage. I can sync via ActiveSync and that seems fine - i.e. if I add Google to Mobile Favourites on my laptop, they come up on the Mobile Favourites on the Xda.
I've downloaded Chef_Tony 02 WM2003 UK and I'm using the noID updater. The instructions that I'm using are d-two's PDF file.
When I run the MaUpgradeUT_noID program, it doesn't show me the CE ROM version that I should be updating to. I've got the ms_.nbf, nk.nbf and radio_.nbf files in the same folder and I'm sure that it's what's needed.
When I click Upgrade, there's a pause about 15 seconds and then it says congratulations, and asks for a reset. In this time, nothing has changed on the Xda screen and I didn't get the progress bar.
I've done the mtty bit, and tried various combinations of reset, disabling the two processes in task manager and so on. Incidentally, d-two's instructions don't mention disabling the processes.
Can anyone shed any further light on this. I'd like to get this Xda running for my wife...
Thanks,
Ivan
Try the WM2003 SE that compiled by d-two, you can get the address in the file that I attach (sorry for this, but I haven't allowed to post links yet), it works fine for me. But if I can give an advice, why you don't try WM6.1 and WM6.5 that cooked by d-two too?? It was great!!!
