I am thinking I do no like WM5 and I would like to downgrade. Why I did not look for this information before I do not know [stupid I guess].
Anycase, I did do a full backup from Active Sync and I have the Standardization Project ROM's still. Do I do the re-install of WM200SE like I did when I first installed the Standardization Project Package?
Also, I saw a thread that talks about NOT doing the partion if you think you will go back to WM2003SE [did not see that before upgrading]. What did that do to me?
I hope someone can help...
Thanks
Okay,
I am liking it better but darn it's slows down when I installed my Battery Pack/Program Bar and Journal Bar. Plus the screen does not refresh correctly either at times and the buttons bleed together. Once I got Voice Command installed is when I became happier.
So, I would still like to know what one does to Down-Grade [and they have done a partition].
When I downgraded mine,I had already done a backup before going to WM5. I reinstalled the Imate 1.40 Rom, but I did not have an Ext Rom on my unit. I then did my restore from Sprite backup and that reinstalled my Ext Rom.
Now all seems well again. I will not reinstall WM5 until the bluetooth issue is resolved.

hey everyone i bought a tilt, but i've had some problems and wonder what these might mean, its been 2 times already this happened, the phone would refuse to wake up when i push the power button, but the led's would blink, bluetooth and service led, also when i have done some reg edits or installed some things i've had the phone freeze at startup and had to take out the battery and start it up again to get it going, and once in a while when i do a soft reset once in while it thinks my battery is low when its actually like 90 percent and shuts down my phone, but once i turn it off completely and turn it back on its fine.
IT means a lot of things since you started hacking the registrys and installed some stuff.
Exactly, what did you hack and install?
I would take this as an opportunity to flash a new rom to it...
After reading up on how to hardspl it etc.
I too agree that something went wrong along the way in the process of doing some mod. First step would be to hard reset the phone. Be sure to stick the stylus in the reset button and soft reset when the "Installation will begin in 3 seconds" dialog box pops up so you don't have the ATT bloatware. If you really want to flash a ROM I would recommend the new ATT ROM as it is FAST! (Again, be sure to soft reset when the box pops up to avoid the bloatware!)

well i guess i need to reflash, i had the first att rom, the one that came with the phone, but i upgraded to the new rom as soon as i saw it, but i did a sprite back up of the old rom and put the backup on the new rom, would that have caused problems, because when i did reg edits and such before i never had problems

I don't trust backup programs to be able to restore my device after I've significantly changed my phone's operating system. Putting things back the way they were may have ill effects on new registry entries and such that a new ROM invariably makes. Its like saying you've upgraded your computer from Windows XP to Vista, and you want to take a tape backup to restore your software. If you want it done right you need to reinstall everything so it is configured for the new OS.

For about the last 2 weeks I keep getting a "Voice Command has quit due to low memory" with any ROM. Yes, I always do a hard reset after I flash the ROM. It shows up before I even try to install anything. I'm not using any auto install programs during this so they are just the plain ROMs. Free program memory is also at least 50 MB, depending on ROM with 30-35 MB in use. I've just been removing VC from the StartUp.
I went back and tried the April 1 Dutty ROM that I think ran fine when I first tried it but now gives me an error. I reflashed the stock AT&T ROM and everything was fine.
I'm also having issues with HTC Home Customizer v1 in that it runs fine for a while then stops and gives a string of directory errors. I've gotten this when installed on both SD and device memory. It happens after I install some additional software but doesn't seem to be related to anything specific and has occurred with 2 version of HTC Home.
Wondering if there is a diagnostic program to check for bad chips or anyone else has seen this. I've had the Tilt for a few months and it just started acting up.
Thanks
Cant think of anything but hardware issues that would cause that.....
If i were you, i would flash back to the stock rom and spl, and take it back to att for a new/refurb one

Use KaiserTweak or Advanced Configuration to Disable the File System Cache, in most of the new ROM's they are enabled that is why it is using so much memory even on startup.

Yeah, that was kind of my feeling. Was hoping someone would say, "Oh, happens all the time, just hit CTRL three times, say the magic word and it will be fixed."
My USB connector is getting loose anyway. I got mine through work and we have a dedicated AT&T rep so hopefully it won't be a big deal. I just need to remember not to say the words Flash or ROM.

I seems no one else has reported this problem (and you know the forum would be full of posts it was common) so that's why I'm leaning toward a hardware issue.

Have you tried what I had suggested? People do talk about it just in the ROM Development Forum where it should be. And just so you know the AT&T Tilt is an 8925 not an 8950.

Don't worry I have the problem too.. now I am searching for the tweak and will post result after I try it
maybe clear the temps files from pIE
I've seen this same problem three times since flashing dutty's April 1 rom about two weeks ago. Haven't spent any time to investigate it yet.
Sounds like a possible .net issue.
I know there were a few missing files from the Apr. 1 ROM.
First, try re-installing .net cf.
Then if you are using Opera delete the Cache files, Take a look for files in \Temp, \Application Data\Volatile, & the cache/history/temp files for PIE.
Thanks for all the input guys (and gals? - yeah right!)
Guess I won't send it in to the shop yet (especially if they replace with a refurb).
Ok so I think I have some sort of problem here. Previous Kaiser started to act up (hardware keys and keyboard stopped working even after a hardreset) so I took the measures needed to get the phone back to factory stock conditions. Got the refurbed tilt in the mail today and of course tried to get it to the way my previous tilt was. Here is where I think I went wrong.
I placed JumpSPL1.56-KAIS on my phone and ran it and got the tri-color screen and what not. I think after this step I was supposed to install hardspl onto the phone but I forgot that step and instead installed a rom instead. The rom installed but it was the wrong one (Dutty's Hybrid NO.7b TouchFlo Final vs the one I really wanted: Duttys_New_years_Rom_2k8_[DualTouch_v2]). At this point I noticed my error because I tried to do the same thing again but when it got the rom% loaded screen it just stayed at 0% and froze.
From here I went through the motions to install hardspl properly but got the same results as above (freezing at 0%). Is there any way to correct this? I would really like to switch this rom (not that it's bad, it's actually a very solid rom but not what I want). Thanks in advance for any advice!
*Edit* Also for some odd reason I have no sound from the phone when getting a phone call (and yes I checked the settings and it's not muted).
*EDIT* Ok I'm really sorry for starting this thread. I figured the problem out. It wasn't even hardspl I was trying to install. Not sure what is was. I got the correct file and installed and updated the rom. Sorry again.
you did many things wrong, but atleast its working now. I would bet all you needed to do was reset phone/computer. as far as the sound issue, it is found everywhere. It is the result of an incompatible radio.
Hi guys, I have had my Xperia a few days now, it's a Vodafone that I hae flashed the Generic UK software to (without HardSPL) it seems to work ok but I am having a few problems. First of all, whether or not the phone will boot is hit and miss, it will get to the today screen and lock up as soon as the clock on the today screen loads. Hitting the reset switch under the cover will reboot it and it will generally boot fine, usually on every second boot.
Another problem I have is that Shell32.exe crashes a lot as does explorer.exe Shell32.exe seems to crash when installing and uninstalling applications, it does not always happen but it's happened a few times so far and is becoming irritating.
I am going to reinstall the firmware image and leave it a day or two without installing any apps to see if the problem is resolved. If anyone has any posible ideas I would appreciate it. Thanks.
Edit: I have renamed thread to remove the reference to boot problem with memory card inserted because after having removed the memory card the problem still persists so I gues it's unrelated.
Shell32.exe error
I also am having issue with shell32.exe crashing, the problem is repeatable everytime I go into the today screen options, as soon as I exit, regardles of which panel I went in from, shell32,exe crashes and I have to reboot the phone. Sometimes the only way to do so is to remove the battery. Any changes that I have made in the today screen do show up after the reboot. This is really annoying me now as shell32.exe is an important system process. Any thoughts, or shall I just hard reset.
R2AA
I'd make sure you're updated to the GENERIC UK R2AA ROM, if you're already on it, get a new copy of it from here, reformat your mem card and flash the phone again.
I seem to be OK now and not getting the shell32.exe crash anymore. Still having various other problems with it stopping responding (barely anything installed, and nothing really running) but not much more I can do, just learning to deal with it because i can't do with the stress of worrying about it. It's Windows, so expect it to suck.
i was on my R1A, had this problem, Hard reset it and the problem still exist...
Upgraded to the official R2AA10 and guess what? the problem is still there....
What is it that actually causing this problem? im planning on selling my X1 because this problem is so irritating....
Strange

Strangely, I stoppped having this problem a long time ago. I ran on R2A and R3A for a long time without any trouble now, I think it was due to a common program we were having installed because I use different programs than I used to and I havn't seen it happen since I last posted about having the problem.
Stick with a fresh install and see how it goes, install your apps slowly until it doesn't happen anymore.
I can't remember the exact programs I used to use but I have a feeling it was related to homescreen plugins or some such.
Let me know what programs you use maybe we can find a common denominator.

Okay, so after hard reset, i always install my program again one by one...
Strangely, the error always happen the FIRST time i install any program that uses today plugin...at first i thought it was SPB Wireless, then after another hard reset i installed Beejive, and the same error occurs...
Now mine is a little bit stable, mainly because i dont touch the today setting anymore....i (forcefully, despite the error ) installed Pocket digital clock, SPB Pocket Plus, and SPB wireless....
Its been fine for the last 2 days...without touching any of the today settings...
What is it that actually causing the problem? so strange....

Well, I never used SPB wireless when i had that problem, but i did use Beejive, Vito Sound Explorer (has a today plugin) HomeScreen++ and Wisbar Advance Desktop (saw a few crashes with this). Saw the problems a lot back then.
When I only ran Homescreen++ I never saw the problem.
I am running 6.5 now so i can't test it for you I'm afraid to find the exact problem, but I'd certainly keep hold of your Xperia because it's definately just caused by a 3rd party app/plugin.

the weird thing is, i ran all my program above for about 4 months on my R1A and no problem occurred....everything was good.
Then i tried to install SPB phone suite, but the installation stopped at 3/4 because the software wasnt signed or something like that (strange, i got it from SPB site), and it just left me some today plugin but withoun any name...it was blank....my today plugin order was in a mess too...i soft reset, it was okay....but i soft reset it again later that day and thats when the problem happened...
I found it strange that it still happens after hard reset and even after Rom change...especially to ANY program that uses today plugin....weird...
Try using R2A_10 or later, I never had any problems from then on, I'm running gtrabs R3A/6.5 atm, although it hasa bunch oof problemsof its own.

How did this got here?
Lmao, I have noo idea.
hey guys, not sure whats going on, but my tilt lately keeps freezing, but it only freezes when i go into landscape mode. i've ran the same programs for a long time (palringo, google maps, live search, kaiser tweak and srs wow) i'm not even running skyfire anymore, and i've uninstalled my opera browser but it keeps freeze. i've done some reflashes and hardware resets, and only ran the above programs, and it still ends up freezing when i put it into landscape. Anyone know what could be causing this? it doesn't matter if im typing landscape in notes, palringo, PIE or anything else, always freezes. The ironic thing is that if i bust out my stylus and type w/ that using the soft keyboard it seems to run just fine (but slows me down A LOT). any help would be much appreciated.

no its not a keyboard lag by any means, the phone literally freezes. i dont even have to type when its in lanscape mode for it to freeze, as soon as the screen changes orientation it freezes immediately

Thanks for clarification, just that you say soon as use onscreen keyboard no issue, are you using a stock ROM? Does it happen on a clean flash no programs installed?

sorry, i should have given a lot more info, but i had to jet to class. Anyways, its not the stock rom, i'm running NATF's Lite rom (no TF3D). I actually downloaded originally around september/nov/dec of 08 (dont remember, but its been months that i've been running it). And never had a problem with it...now all of a sudden it seriously craps out everytime i run it. I tried running Hyperdragons IV Lite and i was experiencing some of the same problems. I'm really starting to think its one of the problems i'm running, so i'm going to to a hard reset (again) and see if it runs just palringo, and google maps w/out any problems. its just getting super frustrating to be honest. i'm running the exact same programs that i've ran for the last year, but now its deciding to act up. hopefully its something in the software and not hardware
ok...so i got home, and installed the OEM att tilt rom. really, no matter what program i install, pretty much anything. the freezing occurs. any out there familiar w/ cell phone hardware? i'm thinking that might be the cause, if so...do you think there's anything that can be done/replaced to fix it?
Hi, this started happening to my just today also! At first I thought it was the onscreen keyboard that made my phone freeze (as I have seen others with the same issue) and thought I could fix it by using another keyboard app. I used SPB's keyboard and it prevents my phone from freezing and I'm able to type things using it. BUT my phone STILL freezes when I put it in landscape mode and try to type something. It freezes after typing a couple of letters. This is stock ROM; I've never flashed it.
Is there a .dll I can use to repair or anything of the sort?
Btw, I'm using a Tilt. Thanks!
anyone have any method ..to prevent this problem???
I find that if restart the phone few times will freeze at gray screen .."the original HTC gray blank screen with loading box in the middle" but the antenna reception green light is normal blinking (all the button not functioning).... -solution have to press reset button below ...
so now everytime install new program very scare to restart .. if un lucky ..will stuck at that screen.... really wonder why ...is it the WM6.1 not stable???

Try the relevant ROM thread also look at your hardSPL version. Some users have fewer freezing probs just by updating hardSPL.

Not at all, there's definitely something wrong with your setup if it wont even boot fully. Maybe a hard reset and some testing between installing each individual program will weed out the culprit. That said I've found (at least the HTC official) WM 6.0 ROMs to be much more reliable and stable than WM 6.1 ROMs.

Not as such - hardSPL is made by dedicated folks who have customised the OEM version but installing it will mean you no longer have an 'official' setup. That said, you can always revert to the official HTC SPL if needed for eg a warranty return. You could also install a newer HTC SPL for your ROM (as long as it's compatible *be careful about this* - eg I'm using the 1.93 HTC SPL with my ROM instead of the 1.56 SPL). This is all explained in the Kaiser wiki (through the xda-wiki button above) so it's well worth having a good read there
aaaahh I looked around. and I can't find a driver to reinstall for the hardware keyboard... I'm assuming this would fix it~
Sorry to double post but I just wanted to say I fixed the problem by backing up and restoring with SKTools after doing a hard reset. It makes me think, what exactly caused the problem in the first place if doing this fixes it? Is there anything that SKTools leaves behind in an All System backup? Perhaps something messed with my registry causing the keyboard to freeze the phone when used.
I'd hate to think my phone can actually get spyware now. Maybe Skyfire's true desktop viewing of webpages allows for this to happen?
Let me know what you guys think

If I will you to avoid ...uninstall this soft keyboard ... use back the original keyboard at the time being and see... if u restore back what is the diff compare to now ... If I not wrong still the same ...
FYI, I got this freezing problem is after I have install PCM kb 0.14 ...then I try install & uninstall & install ..and need to restart the phone ..2 out of 4 time is freeze at loading screen .. now really worry is it b'cos I uninstall it at the same time have remove certain original files .....

If only restoring a full size PC was as easy and quick as hard restting. Sure there's a little work involved in reinstalling apps after completing the hard reset but if the apps are well designed ones that install via activesync, that's as easy as going to Activesyncs add and remove programs function and ticking a box. If this is not available then maybe the old app is the cause of the problem?
A hard reset every now and again is very useful for maintaining peak performance and it certainly weeds out whether a problem is hardware or software related pretty quickly.
