Flashed without Hardspl - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Ok so I think I have some sort of problem here. Previous Kaiser started to act up (hardware keys and keyboard stopped working even after a hardreset) so I took the measures needed to get the phone back to factory stock conditions. Got the refurbed tilt in the mail today and of course tried to get it to the way my previous tilt was. Here is where I think I went wrong.
I placed JumpSPL1.56-KAIS on my phone and ran it and got the tri-color screen and what not. I think after this step I was supposed to install hardspl onto the phone but I forgot that step and instead installed a rom instead. The rom installed but it was the wrong one (Dutty's Hybrid NO.7b TouchFlo Final vs the one I really wanted: Duttys_New_years_Rom_2k8_[DualTouch_v2]). At this point I noticed my error because I tried to do the same thing again but when it got the rom% loaded screen it just stayed at 0% and froze.
From here I went through the motions to install hardspl properly but got the same results as above (freezing at 0%). Is there any way to correct this? I would really like to switch this rom (not that it's bad, it's actually a very solid rom but not what I want). Thanks in advance for any advice!
*Edit* Also for some odd reason I have no sound from the phone when getting a phone call (and yes I checked the settings and it's not muted).
*EDIT* Ok I'm really sorry for starting this thread. I figured the problem out. It wasn't even hardspl I was trying to install. Not sure what is was. I got the correct file and installed and updated the rom. Sorry again.

you did many things wrong, but atleast its working now. I would bet all you needed to do was reset phone/computer. as far as the sound issue, it is found everywhere. It is the result of an incompatible radio.

Tons of problems with Tilt after installing new CAB

I know this is my first post here but I've done my best to search the forums and I haven't found anything that looks like it helps me.
I just got my AT&T Tilt yesterday. It came unlocked (I'm using it with T-Mobile) and has an HTC ROM installed as well as various other apps (Ms. Pacman, TomTom 6, SuperDoku, etc.). I had some issues with it locking up yesterday (similar to what I'm experiencing now but to a much, much lesser degree) when I was playing around with it but those issues somehow corrected themselves.
This morning I installed the Tilt keyboard fix that TaurusBullba posted on here back in June to fix some mapping issues. Since I installed and soft reseted, everything has been going kinda haywire. The Wi-Fi turned itself off and I can't turn it back on. When I slide out the keyboard the orientation stays in portrait mode. When I try to shut down the phone using the power button it hangs forever. Now, actually, half the time I press the power button nothing happens at all.
I've tried uninstalling the CAB but that didn't fix anything at all. I'm afraid to try a hard reset because, from my understanding, I'm going to lose everything that came pre-installed on my phone for me. I should probably also add that last night I installed the Google Maps CAB with no problems whatsoever. Is there some simple solution I'm overlooking? Thanks much!
I would advise that if you have tried soft resets to try and resolve the issues and it hasn't worked, then perhaps a hard reset?
It sounds as if the software you have installed as either caused the problems or exacberated them (ie made them worse).
With hard reset it wipes everything back to when you got it. If you are able I would suggest that you plug it into the computer and make sure ActiveSync backups up your contents. You may also want to use this get all the files on the main memory either to the storage card or to you're PC.
As this is yo're first post I don't know how au fait you are with the above that I have mentioned
The preloaded apps will be reloaded again. You won't have an empty ROM if you do a hard reset. It will be as if you just flashed the ROM again.
Thanks for the replies guys. I went ahead and did a hard reset and it looks like the only thing I lost (or at least the only thing I miss) was TomTom. I've already reinstalled that using a link I found on here, and everything seems to be good to go.
I still have no idea what might have caused the problems though, so I'm afraid that they might come back or I might repeat some dumb mistake I made. I guess I'll just have to live with that for now.
clear storage / hard resets no big deal, just expect to do it every other week while you're finding all the cabs that work (or dont work) for you..
I generally clear storaged every week when i first got my tilt until I found all the app's I liked that didn't have side effects

Wing Reset to Factory Issue

Have been reading all the forums and had used the info here to put a custom ROM on my T-Mobile Wing. Unfortunately my Wing is now suffering a hardware problem and has to go back for a warranty replacement. This could obviously be a problem if it has a non-standard ROM on it. Because of this, I went ahead and grabbed the RUU_Atlas_TMO_US_4[1].10.531.3_4.1.13.37_02.83.90_Ship.exe file via the threads and attempted to reflash my phone.
I am running the flash attempt from a physical Windows XP system. My phone is fully charged. I have an active partnership set up with the phone and active via ActiveSync. I start the flash process and the phone reboots into bootloader mode as expected. The flash process gets to 1% then the phone reboots into regular mode again and the RUU reports that the flash failed.
Am I missing something?
Update: apparently I was missing something. I had read the thread indicating the phone reboots at 1% and 30% (though mine only rebooted at 1%), but I assumed it would go back into the boot loader automatically which it didn't. On a hunch I tried forcing it into the boot loader and the RUU continued. Weird.
Have you HardSPLed your phone before? If you have, you have to bypass the SPL... Rumor goes, flashing the stock RUU WITH USPL will do this for you. I haven't tried it so I don't know if this will work or brick the device.
I had my phone picked up for warranty this very day. It was running Itje's latest ROM before the 6.1 update, but it totally died on my the other day. So now I'm hoping they won't mind too much about the hard-spl ing and the flashing and the overclocking *cough*
Good luck restoring your phone though. Maybe they won't care, I'm hoping for that
I basically took ivanmmj's advice and wrote a lil guide, I hope it gets sticky'd. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=364543

Glad to hear it worked. ^_^ I think that's the second account I hear of it working, so it must be something that DOES work.
Not to raise the dead but good thing I found this thread, worked or me too. Anyone know anything about the warranty replacements tmobile sends out? I'm assuming a refurbished model but anyone know the type o condition they are in?
The model that I got as a replacement, oh so long ago, has been working like a champ since I got it. It looked brand new, but then again, the original had problems not too long after I first got it, when the Wing was still a pretty new device.
Thats good to know, should only have to last me a month or two seeing how tmobile in their infinate wisdom lost the cell tower near my house a few months ago and contract is done on the 29th.... hello tilt!! (or touch pro )

Weird dialer problem and no hardware buttons work PLEASE HELP

I am having the strangest problem. Everytime I turn my phone off and on again the dialer starts up along with the wifi settings. On top of that none of the buttons work except the middle directional pad, power and camra button. I have no idea what is wrong. One day everything is fine then the next its not. Any help will be appreciated.
Hard Reset
I just reflashed and the problem is still there. Except now instead of the wifi setting I get the ringtone creation tool and it creates a new dogbark midi file everytime I turn my phone on and off.
Any help? I have reflashed 3 times now.
If you've done a hard reset and it still does it, it's pretty much a hardware fault by definition. Return to vendor!

Not true at all. If you were to flash to another ROM, I'm prtty sure it'd be gone. It's more than likely a softare related issue and check your start-up folder to see what it has there.
I was, perhaps incorrectly, assuming the OP was on original ROM as he didn't detail what he had changed to
I was on L26 diamond V4 when it started up. Then I flashed to V9....then I restored all my settings and rom back to the original ATT and I am getting a new replacement phone today lol Thanks to everyone who responded.

same problem here with L26 v12 the hardware buttons sometimes don't work they work fine after softreset!

Kfortouchpro

Hey everyone, I hope I'm not utilizing this posting section wrong.
Anyways, I just wanted to put out there that I think* that there is a problem with the kfortouchpro app (I apologize if this problem has been noted before). I dunno if it has to do with the rom I installed (RRE Fuze 4.2 hybrid, which is one of my faves) or if there is just something wrong with my phone.
The Problem:
After playing with Pocketsnes or Morphgear. If I forget to turn M$ IME back to t9, and then reset the device, the device would not boot to the today screen. When the device is reset, it will show the at&t logo, but then the next screen would remain black (the back light is on tho).
I've tried resetting several times and also did so with the bootloader screen. But none of them worked.
So annoyingly, I had to flash my rom to get the phone working again (had to do this 5 time already!!).
I even flashed first with stock rom then custom rom.
If anyone knows how to get that the today screen back after such an incident. Please let me know. And if anyone knows what exactly is wrong please do tell.
Thanks all for reading.
I've had exactly the same problem! Going to have to hard reset again
the same problem here, very frustrating

another bricking question

My unbranded TyTnII took a dump today, and reset itself to OEM condition, not so bad, except the data base was corrupt, so I would not configure a connection to my carrier (T-mo) .
So, I took it home, hooked it up to activeSynch, and brought up a previous sprite backup file to restore it.
Now it's a paperweight- it will start, display the three three install lines R-G-D with the Smart mobility splash, and that's it. I can't get it into bootloader, or anything else for that matter. Any ideas?

If you get to the 3 color screen you are in bootloader my friend, do you notice the USB sign display in the screen? If you get that you can flash. I will recommend that you hard spl your device first (Please read the sitcky of how to perfom it, click under my TyTNII link)
Moved as not ROM Development..
Hard-Reset and do not use your backup as may be corrupted...
If that does not work then try and get into bootloader i know you said you can't but try again and flash stock ROM.
thanks for the move, and my apologies for the mispost- I realized only afterward I had put this up in developers.
I can't get to bootlogger mode- the phone hangs at the initial splash where it displays the SW versions of R D G. It will not move past this.
I hold the camera and on buttons, and push and hold the reset pin, but this is as far as it gets. I will sit here, so far for an hour, but will not progress further.
What am I missing? It's been some time since I've had to muck with it at all, so I've become unfamiliar with the tricks.
It's not bricked as long as you can get meaningful info on the screen. It sounds like you need to revisit HardSPL and put on a newer version. Then flash an appropriate rom.
All right,
Many thanks for the help! I flashed and manged to get the bone stock HTC WM 6.0 ROM loaded.
Now, at the risk of asking what could be considered a dangerous question (almost as bad as starting an oil thread on a moto list) what would be considered the latest and greatest ROM of them all? these days? I haven't been on this forum for quite some time, and I'm sure you all have been busy w/updates. I gave up when WM 6.1 came out, screwed up the GPS settings and made the camera even worse, so I've just stuck with my plain 'ol HTC OEM ROM.
Any suggestions?

Yes, try them all and pick which one can meet your daily needs
having tried quite a few 'light and fast' types, i would say stick to more or less standard 6.1.
i spent a lot of time looking for cabs and then adding back in all the removed stuff i needed.
then get spb mobile shell on there and have a good looking phone.
6.5 never worked properly, esp messages, but a few other obscure probs.
my 2c
