Cannot upgrade my MDA3, why? - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

I cannot upgrade my MDA3 although I download as taught on the web, why?
Somebody tell me, MDA3 is not easy to upgrade, wrong or right?
Thank you for your advives

Hey Khdam,
You need to make sure you're doing everything you ought to be doing. Use the link: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_5.1.1700_build_14343_Upgrade
Follow the set out steps through without taking anything for granted.
There aren't any logical reasons why you shouldn't be able to upgrade you MDA 3. Good Luck!

Is This Correct? MDA Step by Step Backup & Upgrade

Sorry if this annoys anyone - I've spent the last 7 hours trying to find out the best method. I want to do two things:
A) BACKUP my USA T-Mobile MDA to SD, so I can restore it later
B) Upgrade to the T-Mobile USA 2.17 ROM (Custom)
After reading all the posts, let me see if this is correct:
STEP ONE: UNLOCK:
- First of all, I'm going to UNLOCK the device using lockiwiz
- (Do I need to do this twice? Once for the SIM and once for the CID?)
- After device is unlocked, I'm going to back it up.
STEP TWO: BACKUP:
- I've got an extra 128MB MiniSD card, which I'm using just for this purpose:
- I'm going to use TeraTermPro to backup to the SD card.
- I'm going to use the following command: r2sd all
- (This will backup EVERYTHING to the MiniSD, right?)
STEP THREE: UPGRADE:
- To Upgrade, I'm going to just run the CUSTOM_RUU_Prodigy_217....exe file, right?
- That's it, okay?
AFTER THE UPGRADE (OR BEFORE?):
- Should I uninstall ActiveSync?
- Presumably I should, as I will have a clean wiped device, and I'll want to start a new partnership?
- Should I uninstall ActiveSync before or after I upgrade to the new ROM?
Thank you all. This is a great forum. I'm also going to post this in the T-Mobile USA 2.17 ROM (Custom) section as well.
I know some of you may condemn me as being lazy, but I to have been looking for step by step directions to doing this upgrade. Would someone knowledgable be willing to take the time to compile such a post for us beginners?
The upgrading part of your post is exactly like i did it. I'm sorry that i can't comment on the backup because i have no experience with it. I did not reinstall activesynch when i upgraded, but if you wanted to reinstall it, i would image you flash first, reinstall active synch, then synch it with the device. I was using a USA T-MOBILE MDA.

I second that. I have absolutely no clue how to do a rom upgrade, as I am a complete NEWB when it comes to smartphones/pda's. I "for the dummy's" step-by-step would be great, and maybe make it a sticky or something so its there for everyone

Official HtC Kaiser Roms: German to English

Hello,
i've got an original German Kaisert (tytnII), with the original German Windows Mobile 6.1 Rom installed.
However, on the HtC site there are downloads for the tytnII rom, but in English.
Question: is it possible for me to simply load one of these Roms onto my original German tytnII?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Once you unlock your phone and flash HardSpl, you can flash whatever rom you want, as long as it is written for a Kaiser. But without unlocking the phone, you can't just " install a new rom ."
Hmm,
i was afraid of that. But, as my unit is only one year old so far, and i might still require a guarantee issue, i'm reluctant to make this change.
Question: after doing a unlocking and Hardspl, is there a way of going back?
Also, (i know this is the wrong forum), but what is the easiest way of unlocking/hardspl on the phone?
i've already read several directions, and they seem a bit complicated. I've done this before on Prophet, but it seemed easier on that, i.e. run one or two programs and that was it.
Is there something similarly easy for the tytnII?
thanks.

WOW how long is your warranty? mine was only a year.
Yes you can go back, there is a guide on this site.
To unlock and flash, here is a great guide form mskip , if you can't follow this then you need to go back to a rotary phone

Wizard and i callled t-mobile US to find out what is the mazimun memory the this phones supports since i couldnt find any info in their site, they didnt have the info either. So if anyone knows about this phone, i would be more than pleased, also let me give you some info about my phone:
T-Mobile MDA (Wizard)
Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 Build 14955.2.3.0
Processor: OMAP850-195MHZ
IPL: 2.26
SPL: 2.26

This is my e-mail Just in case any1 wants to contact me as to give me any info that cannot be given here, or guide me pointers, guides, tutorials, etc which all will be very much appreciated.
So Far i think i have a G3 Device, right?
I know that t-mobile told me that this device cannot be upgraded by them any more than WinMo5.0 because they just decided to make a new phone, but i have been reading in this forum and i found that this specific device can be upgraded to 6.1 or something like that, also with something that is called Flowcover, or coverflow from HTC is pretty hot, but the thing is that this is my 1st device this kind and i doint have insurance on itsince i got it prepaid for now, also i dont want to mess up my phone or brick it. im very good at following tutorials and step-by-step as long as they are clear and comprehensive.
My point is there too much info and too many threads about the same please can any1 tell me which 1 to follow, and which tuto is the best, and i will foloow it to the letter.
Please PM me or send me an email to let me know what u guys think and if i said something that i shouldnt mention here in the forum please admin feel free to modify my thread, and im sorry if i did in advanced!
Thanks a lot to any1 who can help, please understand me...

Heres all you'll need
Since i was in the same boat as you were about 4 days ago, i'll help you out .
After I spent days asking people questions on a thread I finally found this website's wiki page: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Wizard Windows Mobile 6 for newbies
It helped me greatly, it has ALL the information and steps that you'd need to flash your phone to Button 1.05, then CID unlock it, then flash to a IPL/SPL of 3.08. Then you'd be able to flash to windows mobile 6.1 or HTC coverflow, what ever you choose. Also, if you have a Vista pc it gives a step by step tutorial to how to make it so that you could do this on vista.(Also, WST[Wizard Service Tool] didnt seem to work on my Vista)
And yes, you have a G3
Hopefully that page will answer all your questions and this gives all the info you need.

Thanks in advanced, but i forgot to tell you my PC Is: Windows XP Pro SP3
NOT VISTA, thank god!
Do i need anything special since i have XP or is XP better for this procedures?
thanks
c-ya
Oh, Also Do i need to backup anything from my phone to the PC before i do any modification? like for safety purposes? i.e. like to revert it back to original state?
Also after i do this can i use it as if it came with Windows Mobile 6? and do i tell this to T-mobile? or can i use it with other service providers?
what type of applications must i get after this, WM6 or WM5 apps? and where do i get them cause ie been looking for games and IR Apps like remote control and cant find any?
sorry but i just have too many questions in my head, also do you mind sending me a PM or email with your choice of WM6 and which is more stable and complatible with Coverflow?
thanks and sorry again!!!
Yeah, there were alot of questions in my head when i did this too.
You don't need anything special for XP to do this. Just follow the instructions on the page I gave you and download the tools you need to flash your phone.
Also, when your doing this it hard-resets your device so any programs, contacts, stuff like that should backup all that stuff on your pc using activesync and just take note of the programs you have so you could put them back on afterwards, but the programs that came with your phone usually come with the rom you are putting on, so those you shouldnt need to worry about.
To revert it back to the state when you got it jsut put an official windows mobile rom.
Also, doing this voids your warranty with T-Mobile for the phone. And when you use Wizard Service Tool(WST) when you CID unlock your phone, you can also SIM unlock it which would allow you to use it with any carrier.
You can get any apps that are compatible with WM, i'm not sure where good places to get apps are yet, i'm still looking too.
I can't really help you with the choice of WM6 and which would be more stable with Coverflow because i dont use Coverflow, but right now i'm running Windows Mobile 6.1 With Manila 2D using Touchflow.(Shown in my sig) That can be found in the Windows Mobile 6 category of the Wizard forums with a lot of other great roms.
Hope this helped .

New to WM...looking to upgrade

I bought a couple of Wizards (unlocked Cingular 8125's) recently and have gotten service on them. I am looking to upgrade them both to WM 6.1 if possible. I am in the learning phase of these phones. I am considering buying another phone and using it as a dummy phone.
I am also looking at where to go to upgrade it and since Cingular/AT&T does not support it, i am looking to get the upgrade for free. I just need to be pointed in the right direction, and even if i don't get another phone for a dummy, I want to be able to do my phone first to make sure I upgrade the rom correctly.
If someone is able to help that would be greatly appreciated.
I admit...I'm a Noob
I was hoping to hear something by now... Apparently my question will go unanswered. I know my Wizard (cingular 8125) is sim unlocked, but not sure if it's CID unlocked. I'm still showing the Cingular Logo when I make a call, so I assume I am not CID unlocked. I could use a little assistance on this if at all possible. I have been looking through the wiki pages and the tutorials, however, I am still skeptical about what I'm doing. All Assistance will be appreciated.
You must read carefully & follow this guide to be sure that you are SIM/CID unlock.
If you complete the steps then you can select a rom from the Wizard Mobile 6 thread & flash it.
Thanks for the assist Sam...I have been using the TNT series of Roms, Thanks to It's Right for cooking that one up...going to upgrade my radio then call it good.
